Google search problem

Every time I open google on ipad through safari, the same exact search is initiated...for Derek Hough. My wife may have searched for him once, but why would he keep showing up when I open google?  I can't find where this information is stored in settings, nor does it change when I attempt to alter some of the "smart search" settings, like switching off the "pre load top hit" option. Thank you.

Thank you so much for replying. I have two follow up questions then. 1. If google is remembering my last URL, is there a way to make it forget/erase its memory? 2. I understand you can type in your search, but isn't there a way so you can set up some kind of "home page" with google on the ipad? ( I think the answer to this is "no.")

  • Google search problem in safari

I went to do a google search and used the window in Safari. When I hit go, I get results but they look strange. Only the search term and then most of it is blank. It's as if the page is so big that I can't see the rest.  When I go to the bottom of the page it says Mobile, but nothing else. When I tap beside it, it went to a "classic" view as if on the desktop of your computer, but then I could not see what I was typing in the search box. It was invisible. No problem with Bing or Yahoo.
I also have noticed on a page that I normally check that the login button was not there. I could click where the login button usually is and then it will take me to the page, but what I type is also invisible.
I have an iPhone 4s 5.1.1. No problems on my husbands iPhone 4s.
    Will try to restore.
    Has this happened to anyone?

    Restore has fixed it.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • The problem is with Google search in FF 5.0.

The problem is with Google search in FF 5.0. Everything was fine until I upgraded to FF 5.0. Now, I enter a text and search, I get results, no problem so far. Then, I want to edit the search text slightly to fine tune, so I click in the search bar, that is it, the original search text that was still there in the bar just disappears. I tried this with IE, it works fine, problem is only with FF. Any suggestions?

The Operator said i go to the "premium" site, on which a sepparate billing of traffic, several times more expensive than usual. it happens only when i use google search in safari. When i open the same site in the browser without using google search, traffic is billed according to tariff

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:

  • PROBLEM WITH AUTO POPULATE IN THE GOOGLE SEARCH BOX

When I type in the google search box it auto populates search terms as it always has. However since upgrading to FF4 when I click on the one I want to go to ... nothing happens. I have to type the full search every time. I don't see this issue anywhere in the forum, am I the only one having this problem?

How Firefox is opened should not matter.
It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Open your '''Add-ons Manager <Control><Shift > A''' and make sure you
know what each one is and what it does.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause
Firefox issues. '''Disable All of them.'''
Also, check the programs that are on your computer
'''Windows:''' Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.
    '''Mac:''' Open the "Applications" folder.
    '''Linux:''' Check your user manual.
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't
know what it is, use a web search.

Several problems continuous since first installing Firefox. Personal google search settings don't save; remember me options on web sites like Facebook aren't remembered; Youtube and Flixy videos don't play despite removing/reinstalling/upgrading Firefox several times; upgraded the latest flash plugin today, but no difference, symptoms are black play box with youtube and white box with Flixy. Disbale AV and antimalware makes no difference either.

I recently purchased a second hand new macbook air, although it was second hand to me the previous owner had never actually turned it on.
Something doesn't make sense here, though I'm not saying the previous owner is lying....

What is the easiest way to access the router from an iPad?  I have no problems accessing it from my laptop.  Even though I am entering the address in the left address box, not the Google search box, it wants to do either a search, or add www to the beginning of the IP address.
I usually can eventually access the router, but it is way to much trouble.  However, I use my iPad hundreds of times more often than my laptop.

Are you typing http:// in front of the IP address of the router? e.g. http://192.168.0.1
Sometimes, and with some routers it doesn't seem to like it if you miss off the http://

  • Problem with "Back" Button in pages loaded from Google search results

I am using Windows XP Home 32bit and Mozilla Firefox Ver 5.0
I do a search using Google and I go to page 3 of the returned queries (links) and then go to one of the sites from the search results. When I hit the return button while in the site chosen from the search results, instead of returning to page 3, it always returns to page 1 of the search results.
This happens on any page ie I go to page 22 and use a link then hit return button it still returns to page 1.
Only started happening in past couple of days and it's very annoying. I have not updated Firefox or added any new extensions/add-ons. i have cleared cookies, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and issue still appears.
I have Google Chrome and IE and tried the same query in both and it works as it should work, ie returns to the correct page, so my conclusion is that it may be a Firefox Ver 5 issue.

If I turn off the "Use a secure HTTPS connection when available." setting in the google search settings, then the problem goes away...

  • Problem Reinstalling Firefox on IMAC, only get Google Search on opening

Need Help-I am familiar with using Firefox on my IMAC but recently had to reinstall it (have tried several times to do this) but, when trying to open what appears to be a successful installation, I only get a Google Search window that has the Firefox symbal to the right of a search blank and above the box it says "FIREFOX START." The Firefox options to be typed in the box doesn' t lead to anything familiar, that is to my familiar Firefox brouser window.

One reason for this can be if the new window contains Flash media, but Flash hasn't been used for several minutes, the Adobe protected mode feature changes the order of the windows. This is a bug that Adobe has yet to fix. This thread describes the problem in more details and lists the known workarounds: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/955659 Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash].
If you rule out the Flash issue, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • Google Custom Search problem driving me crazy

I love using FireFox, but recently it has started acting up when I right click on some text in a web page and then "search Google". Before this problem started, the search page would be a standard Google search page with the different headings across the top images, videos, news, shopping, etc. Now I get a Google search page where the Google logo at the top is made with FireFoxes (search google images for "firefox google" and you will see what I mean). Also, I no longer have the different items at the top so the search page is basically useless.
I have started using IE again, but I would really like to get this sorted out. This does not happen with IE, I uninstalled Firefox, cleaned the registry and reinstalled - at first everything was OK but after a couple of hours it went right back to it

    Not sure how often

This is caused by a virus or malware that you have accessed. The solution is simple.
    Step 1) Goto "about:config"
    Step 2) Search for "keyword"
Step 3) Right click on "keyword.URL" and select reset
Your searches will now be the normal Google results
