Google search window disappeared

My Mac-neophyte father tells me that the Google search window has recently disappeared in Safari. Any suggestions on how to get it back? Unfortunately, I forgot to ask him which OS he's using.
TIA,
Nick D.

Nick,
Have him open Safari>View>Customize Toolbar...>then "Drag your favorite items into the toolbar..."Address and Search"
;~)

  • I can't add the google search window to my toolbar?

I recently upgraded to the Mountain Lion OS X 10.8
In Safari, I am unable to customize my toolbar with the google search window.  I was successful in dragging the other buttons.  I don't have a search window on the toolbar and it is very frustrating.

Apple moved it into the address bar.

  • Google search window

At the moment the shortcut, google search window, like macs is for google.com. Is it possible to change this to google.co.uk for UK based iphone users?

yes, but when you tap the address bar at the top of the screen and you get the google shortcut window, this is for google.com is it not?

  • How can i get back my google search window?

Is there any way to get back a separate google search window?

No. The search and address bar are now unified in Safari 6.

I lost the Google search window and don't know how to get it back, can someone tell me how?

Depending on which version of Safari you are running the search is as Thomas states. The address bar is the search and address bar on Safari 6. Prior to that, one of two things will get it back.
First is going up to the menu bar and choosing View>Show Toolbar. If it says "Hide Toolbar", then this isn't the issue and the toolbar is already present.
Second. Assuming the first step didn't fix the issue, you can go again to the menu bar and choose View>Customize Toolbar. Inside the window that opens you should see a google search that you can drag and place back where it used to be on the toolbar area. Then just press "Done".

  • Disappearing features! - URL & Google Search windows gone from top panel

I just launched Safari and it has lost the long input box across the top panel (into which I'd type a url) and it's also lost the Google Search input box from right hand end of the top panel (See screen shot). There was nothing I did prior to this change that was different or unusual.
I've tried doing TechTool Deluxe repair and DiskWarrior repair with no success.
Should I reinstall the OS (Snow Leopard)? Surely not just for this one issue - everything else is great.
Is there a Safari installer available somewhere?
Should get another copy of Safari (I have a copy on backup disk) and just copy and paste it into Apps folder to replace the damaged one?
Many thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Oh DOH me!!! Ha haa. Many thanks!! You're so right. That's much better - just like new again.
But why would that have happened suddenly without me using that Customize Toolbar feature before??
    Many thanks!

  • Google Search App Disappearing

    Hello,
Recently, the google search app has disappeared from my Ipad Air. The app was randomly deleted, and there is not an option to redownload or open the app in the app store. I did not update the IOS or the app, and I did not manually uninstall the app.
Anyone have a solution to this?

    Hello there, jweldy.
First thing I would recommend is search your iPad for the application, as it may have been moved to a folder or another page:
iOS 7 - Learn more about iOS 7 and iPhone - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=tidetail&product=iphone&locale=en_US&tag= iOS%207#TI169
If you confirm that the file isn't on your device, then you should be able to download the application again using the following Knowledge Base article:
    Download past purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
    Apps
    Tap App Store.
If you're using an iPhone or iPod touch, tap Updates, then tap Purchased.
If you're using an iPad, tap Purchased.
Find the item that you want to download.
Tap the Download icon. After the app downloads, you can open it from the Home screen.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • I used to have a google search window in my navigation bar. Some download installed Yahoo to my dismay and I can't find where to uninstall it and reinstall Google.

I downloaded PDF creator from Sourceforge.net. Apparently I agreed to have my navigation bar searcher become Yahoo, replacing Google.

Thanks for getting back to me. As soon as I posted this question I noticed the "down arrow" next to the Yahoo icon in the search window. Lo and behold, clicking on it reveals choices, such as: Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Answers, ...Wikipedia etc. One can change searchers that easily.

I have double clicked near the top right corner on my safari page and the google window vanished. How do I get it back? I am missing it as it avoided me going over to the search tag in chrome.

  • Google search window don't autocomplete in F4.01

I use laptop with Window 7, Home edition.
After updating FF to F4.01 version Google window on Google bar stopped to auto-complete. That is it is displaying suggestions as usual but when clicked upon appropriate line of dropped down list, that line is not extended and i must type the whole question manually. I found tons of the same problem on the web with some workaround suggestions that are too shaky to implement. Some users attribute it to this last version of FF.
Using mozilla for more than 25 years ago when it was still Chicago University students project, I am very much sure that you fix this bag to the greater good of our otherwise sick society. Hail to the FSF and Open Society, the precursor of great days to come!

Firefox should divert the new window to a new tab when you check this box in Google's Search Settings:
"Open search results in a new browser window"
I can't think of any reason for Firefox to divert a new window back into ''the same tab''.
In case one of your add-ons is the culprit, could you try Firefox's Safe Mode?
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox using Help>Restart with Add-ons Disabled. Don't check any of the boxes in the [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] dialog, just Continue in Safe Mode.
    Does it make any difference?

  • Any way to have the URL field without the Google search window?

It would be great if someone had made a Safari Extension that only showed the URL field and not the Google/Yahoo field.  Has anyone seen this? I found an extension for DuckDuckGo which I like.    This is on Safari for the Mac on 10.7.1 and 10.6.2 on two of my machines that I'd like that to be added. Also if there is a PicSearch plugin that would be great.  I'm trying to get rid fo all the cookie based search engines now that Google has changed their privacy policy, and I don't like Yahoo's either.

Nondisclosure statement would suggest that would not even be something anyone would know if it is a feature or not. Unless it is up on Apple's website.  Did you see something mentioned on Apple's website? Also, I'm going to have to wait to see if I need new hardware for it. I'm still dependent on MacBook Pro 3,1 and iMac 5,1.

  • On opening, the browser comes up with not an address navigation bar, but with only two google search windows. How can I make it open with an actual address line?

It's all been said in the question.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • I have lost my url type in window to go to new sites and I have also lost the google search on the right side

    ''locking as a duplicate - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/855147''
url bar is gone, along with the google search window, I have tried control click in the header space, along with command click, nothing works.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • Google Search Result Window Duplicating

Just recently at home and work computers (iMac G4s, OS 10.4.2 and Safari 2.0) Google search windows are duplicating. I have Google prefs set to open search results in new browser windows and when it does it now changes the 'back' window that has the Google search to display the same as the window with the results. This doesn't happen if I open the 'results' window behind the Google search window (Apple-Option-click) instead of in front of the search window (click). Weird.

    Gets more interesting.
It seems to be the way Google has the pages set up. If I click on a main advertizer - the links at the top of the page that are highlighted with a light blue background, or the links on the right side of the page - the new page and the original page behave correctly.
If you click on a link that is in the main area the "Search Window Duplication" thingy happens.
Google has updated it's code recently so my guess is that this is NOT a Safari bug. Hopefully it will get addressed soon.
