Google shopping cart

I thought I'd use GSC for my site. I researched all I could stand on the dang cart thing being in the upper right hand . . . actually it doesn't live there, it scrolls with the page. I can live with that -almost-. What I am wondering is why, when the snippet is placed for the "add to Cart" buttons, it doesn't show up in iWeb - why?? I have to guess on alignment. Did I miss a memo? I've researched this stuff until I have a headache - if I missed the answer somewhere else, I am sorry to annoy.
And if someone has ideas on how to access the original source code page from iWeb and still have it translate - please let me know. Some how I think if I can insert the google code before the ending body tag, I might be able to get that cart to show up differently . . . anyone tried it yet?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you want to put the shopping cart somewhere else on the page see this demo page: Adding Google Shopping Cart. It will require post publication editing of that page's html file. If you don't plan on making changes frequently it won't be much of an inconvenient. Also TextWrangler has a feature that you can save Find and Replace patterns so it's easy to reedit a page quickly.

  • Online store & shopping cart

    Hi All,
Trying my luck with an online store. Anyone familiar with Zen
    Cart (open source)?
Any DW extensions. Don't know PHP, ASP etc.
    Thank you!

There's really no one-size-fits-all solution. It depends on
what you're selling, how many items you have, what kinds of options
you want to give shoppers, etc etc etc. It also depends, as
mentioned previously, your level of expertise. Since you're at a
lower skill level (and as Seinfeld says, not that there's anything
WRONG with that), you'll probably want something simple. But again,
it depends on what you want to do and what you want from your
redesign. There are just too many variables to recommend one thing.
Google "Shopping carts" and sift through the results.

  • Shopping Cart - Help?

I'm new to web design, and self taught, so go easy on me, haha. I have a site up, that sells organic mattresses and I need to add a shopping cart to it so customers can purchase online. I've added a buy now button and I want that to take them to another page where they can customize the bed and then purchase it online. You can look at it if you'd like; www.dremata.com
I have a google checkout account, which comes with a shopping cart widget but it's limited and I need a shopping cart with more options/more customizeable because there are a lot of different options the customer can pick that effect price.
I've been googling shopping carts for 6 hours now. Everything I've found turns out to be an entire online store. Which I'm not looking for, because I've already designed my website and set up the product pages. I'm just looking to add a shopping cart. I can't, for the life of me, find a premade shopping cart that I can just add to my site. At this point, I'm assuming I'm really ignorant on the subject and you can't do that?
I don't know too much about shopping carts, or how they work. So if anyone could help me out, let me know what my options are and the different ways to add a shopping cart, I'd really appreciate it!
    - Thanks

You've made a common newbie mistake of putting the wagon ahead of the horse.  Ideally, you should build your site pages within your shopping cart system.  IOW, the product IDs, descriptions, prices, options, etc... are stored in server-side databases.  Content is dynamically populated to your site pages.  This is the price of doing things on your own without first consulting an expert.  All is not lost though.  Find out which programming languages your server supports (ASP, PHP, ColdFusion...)
Have a look at Cartweaver and Web Assist  They each have e-commerce extensions that can be used with DW.
    Good luck,

  • Shopping cart trick work for you?? Please add to list!

Hi all, I am making this post to explain the shopping cart trick. The shopping cart trick is from what i gathered mostly comenity bank cards. (not all of them) Go to there store, add items into your cart, go check out and put in your info (as it appears on your credit report)If that store approves you, you will recieve a pop up (or maybe a new screen) which says you are pre approved. It will have your brief info and ask you to type in your last 4 digits of your social. Some stores will say how much you are approved on the pop up (some dont) PLEASE READ THIS= -PRE APPROVAL- (which is what i am talking about) is when it says you have been PRE APPROVED (again might say amount) and asks you to ONLY TYPE IN LAST 4 DIGITS OF SOCIAL- this is what you want if you do not want it to show up on your credit report -PRE QUALIFY- this is when you have to bascially fill out a app. (type in more then the last 4 digits of social) THIS WILL SHOW UP ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT AS IT IS A HARD PULL i see many people who think they are the same.. THEY ARE NOT! not everyone will get the pre approval. If you dont, you can try in a week or maybe you need to opt in (google opt in/opt out) it is a site where you can choose whether you want to recieve offers of credit ect. If you have tried this trick..PLEASE  let us know if it has worked. I would like to get a complete list of stores to make it easier for those who wish to try, to find.  Myself, i got the pre approval for,1. victoria secret (this is usually the most easiet store from what i have heard)  $500 credit limit2. king size direct $250 limit (can also be used at 1 stop shop, brylane home and there other sister stores)-i also have a mandees store card but i got that one instore $300 limit i made accounts for both of mine before i got the pop up, not sure if that makes a difference.

  • Creating a shopping cart in iweb?

Does Apple have software that allows me to create a shopping cart in Iweb?

No.  You will have to integrate PayPal into iWeb by creating a PayPal business account.
You can also do a Google search for shopping carts.

  • Virtual shopping cart in iweb'09?

I would like to add a virtual shopping cart to my website-customers click on the check boxes and it adds it to a cart, the total is a quote only. I just want a simple cost calculator on my site. Is there a way to do this in iweb'09, or any html or some software (preferably free!) that could let me achieve this?
    Thanks for your help!

You could use something like an online store to do something like that. Do a Google search and see what comes up.
That definitely won't be free though.
Some of the online web site creation package contain store options built in - take a look at http://www.weebly.com and see if you could use this instead of iWeb.

  • Shopping Cart for iWeb

Does anyone out there have any experience integrating a shopping cart with iWeb? I am interesting in using Google Checkout and so would like to use one of the shopping carts compatible with it.
I will be making the shopping cart for a Kentucky Bluegrass Festival.
    Thanks in advance.
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

You can always create a link to a third party service where you can build a shopping cart with a small amount of items to lots of items. This will be the easiest way out. There are various services around. Make a search with your favorite search engine.

  • MVC - Planning A Shopping Cart..?

    Hi...
I've been studying computer science at uni. for one academic year now... I've got experience working with Java, JSPs, servlets, JDBC, MVC architecture, SQL, web forms, sessions, etc. and I've put together a couple of reasonable web application projects.
Over the summer, I'm hoping to practice my skills some more and make a web application which includes a shopping cart. I'm sure I have all the 'tools' I need to complete the task, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it (or if my ideas about how to go about it are right). I've already searched Google and these forums for tips, but I can't find the kind of high-level overview I'm looking for.
So... I'm hoping someone can basically point me in the right direction in a top-down kind of way. I'll do the hard work by myself (or at least I'll try).
I'm kind of guessing part of the structure might look something like the following, for a basic implementation...
    *SQL Database -
Contains, amongst other things, a table of products which have IDs, names, descriptions, stock counts and prices.
    *Model -
A Product class, which has the same fields mentioned above
A ProductList class - a class which populates Product objects from the DB via JDBC
A ShoppingCart class (which I'm probably imagining to be too simple) which can store Product objects (in an ArrayList field or something?). It would also contain getProduct / addProduct / removeProduct / getPriceTotal methods.
    *How it might work.
The customer would browse products via the JSPs, and add / remove Products to the ShoppingCart via methods invoked in the controller. The contents of the cart would be saved via sessions.
At the end of shopping, the customer would click Check Out and be taken to a page which shows the final contents and price of the cart. If the click proceed, they would be taken to some sort of secure payment portal (which would take the price from the getPriceTotal method..?) to make the payment... And then the order would be committed to the database for records..? I haven't really thought about payment yet...
Thinking about it, a standalone program could be written for the site owner to bring up a list of most recent orders that are yet to be dispatched, from a table in the database. When dispatched, the entry could be removed from this table and added to another table of order history or something. This could be extended to include a GUI etc.
Obviously, for security, all user input would be 'validated' by stripping any non-alphanumerical characters to protect the database and prevent SQL injections etc.
Does any of that sound along the right lines..? If not, what else should I explore..? I appreciate that there are existing solutions, but that's true of almost every problem. I'd like to gain the experience of completing the project. Am I overlooking anything major..? What else could go wrong..? Should I explore any other security issues?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

    *SQL Database -
Contains, amongst other things, a table of products which have IDs, names, descriptions, stock counts and prices.Yes, the product catalog. "Other things" would be customers, addresses for shipping, etc.
    *Model -
A Product class, which has the same fields mentioned above
A ProductList class - a class which populates Product objects from the DB via JDBCI'd call it the Catalog.
A Customer might have a shopping history ("If you liked X, you might also like Y").
I'd recommend that you start with the objects and let the database and UI follow from that.
A ShoppingCart class (which I'm probably imagining to be too simple) which can store Product objects (in an ArrayList field or something?). It would also contain getProduct / addProduct / removeProduct / getPriceTotal methods.A data structure of some kind. A List or Map, yes.
I haven't really thought about payment yet...Think it through. You're making a good start.
Make that PaymentService an interface so you can switch the implementation.
Thinking about it, a standalone program could be written for the site owner to bring up a list of most recent orders that are yet to be dispatched, from a table in the database. When dispatched, the entry could be removed from this table and added to another table of order history or something. This could be extended to include a GUI etc.
Obviously, for security, all user input would be 'validated' by stripping any non-alphanumerical characters to protect the database and prevent SQL injections etc.Certainly you should do client and server side validation, but the real way to prevent the possibility of SQL injections is to not expose the database to the UI at all - and to use PreparedStatements to bind variables. Only a Microsoft nut would have bare SQL in the UI in the first place.
Does any of that sound along the right lines..? If not, what else should I explore..? I appreciate that there are existing solutions, but that's true of almost every problem. I'd like to gain the experience of completing the project. Am I overlooking anything major..? What else could go wrong..? Should I explore any other security issues?Think about other roles besides customers. Who else could use this site? Admins? How does their functionality differ from Customers?

  • Short dump transferring more than 99 items from catalog to shopping cart

    Hi
I'm encountering a short dump when trying to transfer any more than 99 items from the internet sales catalog to an EBP shopping cart.
The error states "Unable to interpret "*0" as a number" - the code in the error suggests that the system is attempting to populate field LCNT with *0.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    David

    Hi both
Thanks for the replies. I've already checked the usual channels (OSS, Google etc) without success, hence my thread here.
The business reasons for having 99 catalogue items are not particularly strong, but it would be a 'nice to have' as one or two users have fallen foul of it. They can obviously raise separate carts if necessary.
If the consensus is there's no solution then we'll just have to put up with it as a catalog limitation!

  • Help with Wish List / Favorites / Shopping (Cart) without the Shopping.

I need to add a "Wish List" / "Favorites" that can be emailed to a Muse site that has already been created.  It's like a shopping cart without any need to actually check out and buy anything.  Google searches have not produced much help as of yet except for I did find something called simplecart.js that sounded promising because it uses JavaScript and as far as I can tell Muse can use JavaScript.  I am still struggling figuring out how to implement simplecart.js but at least it was a start.  Would anyone here have any alternative suggestions for me or be able to point me in a different or better direction.  I find it funny that is so hard to find something that says click this button to then add this info to this area.  I just need to keep a running list of items that can be emailed.
I am using Muse because I am not a coder but any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Ryan.

    It is not just CSS.
CSS is only the style and presentation of it, you have HTML as well and layout of the product and store and the overall templates that wrap them. I can not see any changes to a pre-existing BC template, unfortunatly just replace with static images..

  • SEO Friendly shopping cart

I am wanting to use a SEO friendly shopping cart that uses search engine automatically generated urls and meta descriptions. It has to be a dreamweaver extension. What are the options I know of webassist ecart and cartweaver. Anything else?

SEO for an online store is much the same as any web site.  Make sure your content is well written both from a human and search engine's point of view. Your product names, categories, short and long descriptions should ALL be concise and to the point and contain key words an fraises that are most likely to be used when users are searching for your type of products and services.
For Cartweaver, one of the SEO features we built in is that the page titles and meta descriptions are populated based on the product name and short description respectively. For the product search results page they are populated by the categories searched on and the category description related to the category  - you enter these in the admin.  Doing this exposes a lot of good content to Google and the rest for each product returned. We also have a little utility that generates a Google friendly XML sitemap that you can point to in your Google Sitemaps account.
Out side of that, making your online store SEO is the same as any web site.  Attention to details and good content writing are your primary toolls and assets!
    Hope this helps.

  • Accidental Purchase / Shopping Cart / Pending Download

I clicked on a film rental on my phone and because i had just downloaded an app a few minutes earlier it didn't ask me for my password and started to download it.
I paused the download and went on iTunes and followed the link to contact apple.
I explained what happened and wanted to find out how to remove it from the download section.
I was surprised that someone wrote back and said they had refunded the money and that i should use shopping cart on itunes to prevent this happening.
I did some digging and found out (i got an automated email from apple that seems like its out of date) one click is now the only way according to stuff i found on google anyway and has been since itunes was updated? Anyway i still havent downloaded the film but i cant delete it from the pending section of my downloads on the iphone which is what i was really bothered about.
I wrote back days ago but nobody has come back to me... couple of questions.
Is there a way to stop the download (i cant see any way and when i touch the screen it starts downloading again)technically i haven't paid so i wasnt gunna watch it.
Has shopping cart gone and is there another way around one click - i deleted my bank details so figure it cant charge me if it doesnt have any and was thinking i might just buy itunes vouchers?

The Shopping Cart feature was removed several months back. There isn't any way around the "one-click" other than just being careful.
i deleted my bank details so figure it cant charge me if it doesnt have any and was thinking i might just buy itunes vouchers?
It would charge your vouchers, or if you don't have sufficient credit balance will probably carry a negative balance and prevent you from purchasing anything else until you make up the balance. So removing your credit card is not a reliable method of preventing an inadvertent purchase. Sorry, but being careful not to buy what you don't want is the only avenue.

  • Questions regarding the APEX sample shopping cart

I am fairly new to APEX development, but had a few questions regarding the sample APEX shopping cart:
    1) is there a way to integrate Google check out payments with the sample APEX shopping cart
    2) is there any way to list a service, that involves monthly recurring payments
    3) is there any other shopping cart that is APEX based that is available
    Thank you,
    Ashok

    Hi Sam,
i am haveing a deadline monitoring for my shopping cart where remainders are going to generate for first day and the second day, after both the remainders generated and the approver changing the cost center or asset or order at that time, the workflow flow should retrigger and send the approval mail to the new approver, but it is not going to the new approver, so the workflow is not triggering in my case. so i need to restart my workflow again if any changes occurs.
in the second point my functional guy says that, when the approver changes any text or any date like that it should come for the accept changes, and when he sees the approval preview, only the approval person should be there but not the creator person in the preview and when the creator of the sc accepts the changes it is showing that it is approved by the creator name but he says that it should the approver name not the creator name.
so can you please help me in this to get the solution.
    thanks in advance

  • Etail vendor's site is dumping my shopping cart though cookies are enabled.

I sign in and click to a page to shop I am no longer signed in. If I don't sign in and add an item to the shopping cart and then click to another page the item is dropped from a shopping cart. I have enabled cookies and third party cookies until they expire. What do I do?
    Thank you

I would recommend the Shopp plugin for WordPress, it's pretty simple and works quite well. Another option would be Magento if you wanted to go all-out. It's an enterprise level shopping cart application with every bell and whistle you could possible imagine.
Just about any solution outside of Paypal (which sucks) or Google Checkout (also sucks), is going to require extensive configuration from a back-end and front-end point of view. You're going to have to be really good at CSS/HTML to even make a dent in changing how these applications look.
Another option I just thought of is JCart - it would allow you to integrate a cart into your existing HTML, as opposed to modifying a cart applicaiton to look like your existing HTML.
