Google style menu bar
Hi
Is it possible in Swing to detach the menu items from a JFrame like the google's navigation bar? If you have any helpful links please post here.
Thanks for your help.

How to change character encoding in firefox 4 without enabling menu bar
Occasionally I need to try various character encoding so the characters look correctly. However, with the new Firefox 4 interface, the only place I can find to do that is to re-enable the old style Menu Bar then select View->Character Encoding
You can find the Character Encoding in the Firefox > Web Developer sub menu.

after updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google(web ,image, video, map etc),yahoo, Facebook (message, notification, profile, home) and others site are disabled. even I cant log out from different sites cz the log out bar is completely disabled. I tried with Firefox 4;5 and 6, same problem exist . I tried by active all add ons for facebook, same problem exist. If I use internet explorer , I don't find such problem with it.
How can I solve this problem? Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long. -
The only thing at the top of the page is my favorites menu tool bar. I have no Google tool bar I have no address tool bar. There isn't a place to type in a web address. The only way I got here was opening Internet Explorer. No Tools or help menu. I even did a system restore to 5 days ago. Didn't help. Please help. I don't want to switch to IE.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== I right clicked in the tool bar area and it gives me the choice of removing different tool bars or adding them. I removed one just to see which one it was. OOPS not a good idea. When I right click now the same menu doesn't come up.Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar & Navigation bar, so so they have a check-mark.

Hello:
I would like to congratulate the authors of the new Spry Menu Bar Framework 2.0 (vers. 1.0) -- it has truly been an advance and over the previous generation, and is much more user friendly for those without extensive knowledge of the spry framework. I have also appreciated the tutorial created by David Powers that is found on the Adobe labs site, and find that it has been very helpful.
However, I do have one general question that I would seek some clarification before completing the task of deploying the widget in its final form. I have gone beyond the tutorial insofar as I have customized the styling to allow me to use background images for the menus and submenus in both static and hover states. I have also gone directly (with add of the tutorial) to work on my own site rather than recreating the bayside tutorial. I know have my styles embedding into a template page (.dwt).
My question is whether those styles embedded in the head of the template page should be transferred to a separate styles page and attached (or possibly included in the styles page that handles the CSS for the layout aspects of my site), or whether it should overwrite the styles included in the basic styles skin for the widget. The latter seems the most likely answer, as many of the classes are for the same names as those in my template page, but have different (and conflicting settings). However I wanted to make certain of this before proceeding.
Once again let me thank those responding to this query in advance for the helpful tips I have received along the way, and that will likely follow this post.
I could post the css and the html with this querry, but I hope I have explained the question well enough that a general response will be all that I need.
Thanks again for the help.
Steve WebsterThanks for your helpful response.
I had already tried the various options (overwriting basic styles, skins, etc) and quickly learned to back track as they were definitely not the answer to the question I posed. I then included them in the customized style sheet for the entire site and clearly de-marked them as styles governing the spry menu widget 2.0 (1.0) with the warning that future developers working on the site should use care in amending them, and warning that they be remain included in the general styles file.
I was going to indicate in response to my own query that this seemed to be the best practice, but your response confirmed what I had learned.
Thanks once again for your helpful advice and intervention.

Since using 'map' a black google menu bar is attached to FF headings
On 2 occasions to-day I consulted Google map re housing in my neighbourhood. Hours later reactivating FF. I noticed that it's menu bar had gone. A black menu bar at the bottom had appeared showing +Y0u, Web Images, Maps, Translate, Gmail, More, Sign in. Obviously related to employing Chrome rather than FF.
I have since restored FF's menu bar but am unable to remove the unsolicited and unsightly bar createdHi fredz-
The black Google menu bar was installed by Google, not Firefox. It will display on all Google properties. For example, I looked at maps.google.com using Firefox, Chrome and Safari- and each browser displays the same Google toolbar when viewing a Google website. I am not aware of a way to disable the Google toolbar.
Hope that helps! -
Firefox 4: the drop down menus in the top menu bar will not appear in Google pages.

Firefox 4: the drop down menus in the top menu bar will not appear in Google pages. For example, when I click "more" it is like clicking a dead link. Nothing happens. When I click the "tools" icon or my email address to log out, same thing.Could you do the following please.
In the location bar at the top, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter
In the filter at the top, copy/paste the following setting:
'''browser.urlbar.maxRichResults'''
If the figure on the right is a single number, or a minus figure i.e. '''-1''', right click it, choose '''Modify''', remove the current setting and replace it with the figure "'''12'''".
Then close Firefox and restart it again.
I went to Google Maps, but as you can see from the screenshot, directions appear to be working.
You could also try creating a new Profile. See [[Managing profiles]] -

I am running Windows 7 on a laptop and I have lost my Menu Bar for Firefox. It says it's turned on, but I can't see it. I have googled various options to try & get it back, but nothing works. Any suggestions would be appreciated...
Downloaded Mozbackup & backed up all bookmarks, extensions, passwords (not settings)
Uninstalled Firefox completely (Using REVO Uninstaller)
Reboot
Re-install Firefox
...Ran MozBackup & restored profile
Woo HOO !!
The problem was an add on: Hide Caption Titlebar Plus
Once I uninstalled that - the menu returned
Thanks for your support anyway -
After getting my software update for safari yesterday (version 6.0) I've lost the google search bar on my menu bar. I've tried customizing the menu bar by dragging the google search bar to the menu bar, but no luck. How can I get the google search bar back?
You can't. It's now integrated with the URL bar. It's a search/URL combo.

I like to create tabs like menu bar, tool bar, task bar in my safari -google browser
Is this what you are looking for
Settings>Safari>Always Show Bookmarks Bar -
I am using the latest version of Firefox. Yesterday, I came to work without my contact lenses so I magnified my screen resolution in the main control panel settings to blow everything up. I have since reverted back to the default settings on the computer.
In Firefox, I also was magnifying the screen as I visited various websites (Ctrl+plus). Today, the websites themselves are displaying perfectly fine.
The problem is everything above the website, in the menu bar, as listed in the question above. The font size is incredibly small and I am not finding a way to revert back to default resolution. Any help?Thank cor-el. Turns out that, in the end, it was a DPI settings issue. Problem solved... thanks!!

I want to be able to control the third level in a horizontal
menu bar specifically (I.E. - two submenus in). Is there a way to
do this?
OR - Is there a way to have the first and second submenus be
the same and the main level of the menu be different? For example,
when I try to add a background image to the first level of the
menu, the third level also gets that image, but the second does
not. Also, when I change the text size in ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul
to say 85%, the second menu goes to 85% less, and the third menu
goes to another 85% less, even smaller.
Ultimately what I want to accomplish is:
1) The main menu to have a background image and size 14 font,
no border.
2) BOTH of the first and second level submenus to be exactly
the same: font size - 12, with a border, and no background image.
I have tried for hours upon hours to accomplish this but I
can't seem to target both the first and second submenu specifically
to be styled the same way and target the main level of the menu to
be styled differently without affecting the submenus.
Can anyone shed some light on this? There must be a way to
target each level of the menu individually here.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out.Just use basic CSS to accomplish this.
Make a new class that does what you need for the third menu.
Then apply that class to the 3rd level menu items.
You can use more complex selectors if you wish, but the class
is the easy way to do it. -
Spry menu bar woes (add submenu levels and edit width)
So i need some spry menu bar help. Apparently as a graphic designer i'm also expected to webdesign, and while i can solve most problems with a good googling, i seem to be at my wit's end fo this one. So the site i'm doing has a header ith a horizontal spry pop-up menubar (in Dreamweaver CS4). But some problems arise: when i manually add another submenu level, they don't show up in chrome or FF, they do werk perfectly in IE6. I just add the following code to the codepage:
<li><a href="#" class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">audio equipment</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Digital Matrix Systems</a></li> <ul> <li><a href="#">R2 Digital Audio Matrix</a></li> </ul> <li><a href="#">pre-amplifiers & mixers</a></li> <ul> <li><a href="#">PMX124</a></li> </ul>
the PMX never pops open in FF an chrome.. Should i be adding anything else to another part of the code? i'd like my submenu text to have a slight indent? How ever, when i add the indent to ul.menubarhorizontal ul , it elongates the submeny boxes in IE6, while looking normal (width) in chrome and FF. WHat part of the CSS style should i change to just have the text scoot over a bit without it really affecting the box layout? ALso, if anyone could tell me how to add a wee bit of spacing above the text (and beneath), i'd be eternally gratefull. Also, how do i change the with of the submenus? seing as my main buttons are images, but the names i ned to put in my submenus are turning out to be pretty long...
HTML code for the menu:
