Google Syncing my Calendar

I currently use Google Sync to wirelessly sync my contacts.  It works great.  I want to start using it to sync my calendar,  since I have been using it more often.  Plus,  I want to make sure that I can sync my calendar (and contacts) to a new iPhone in the future.   Since I don't really use the google calendar on the desktop,  how do I get my iPhone calendar items into the google calendar so I can starting syncing the calendar?  Make sense?
I can flip the Calendar switch on in step #13,  but I don't want to delete the calendar items off my iPhone.  By doing step #13,  will that throw the calendar items on my iPhone into the google calendar?

OK - I just did this. The Google Sync is an excellent way to do this, BTW. Esp if you don't have all the new OS's the iPhone and iPad require you to have!!!!!
So....
First, I went to Google and set up a new email account. confirmed it after I got the confirmation email at my old email address.
eta: I'm using a PowerBook G4 with the old G4 processor and OS 10.4. Didn't want to buy a new computer yet, I still have feelings for that old laptop. (!?!) It still works and serves me just fine, if Apple would just let me alone!!!
I had to move all the old iPhone info to the Windows Vista PC so I could sync and activate the new G4 and the iPad.
Thank goodness for Google Sync!
Next, I signed in to my new gmail account. Click "my account" at the top right, check that everything is set the way you want it.
Look at the left side of your home page there, and you will see a box to "add friend's calendar". Click that, and tell it to import your old calendar from the old mac (in my case).
Now, open up your new iPhone or iPad and add a new account. Click Microsoft Exchange, follow the windows and fill out the gmail acct info you just set up.
Make sure "push" is turned on in your phone/pad settings.
Yes, you can go ahead and tell it to delete existing local calendars on your iphone, if you checked and made sure it was uploaded to your gmail account already.
I think you cold tell it to keep on your iPhone, though, just to be safe if you're in doubt, and cull through any duplicates in iTunes later.
Anyway, this was a painless way to move all the info to the new phone, since MobileMe will not work with the old Mac OS, and that's where I had all my old info.
The new iTunes wil not recognize the Windows Contacts in Vista, so you have to use the Google sync to get it done.
Yay. whew!

Your Gmail® calendar will synchronize only with the calendar you have set as default on your BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone. You can verify or modifiy this in Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > Default Services.

  • Google Sync Online Calendar Problems

I have BB Tour 9630 with OS v5.0.0.419 (Platform 4.2.0.179)
    Carrier: MTS
    Google Sync: v0.5.15 (1017)
With google sync I understand how the BB only has a limited amount of memory therefor it deletes older events from the BB, but I just noticed that I have lost all of the events from the google calendar online as well as from my BB. I was wondering why its doing this? and is there any way to fix it so that it keeps my events online to refer back to later?
    Thanks.

  • Does iCloud is compatible with google sync?

I have a gmail client business account which uses Google Sync for Calendars and Contacts.
DO I can use iCloud or do I will have to choose between iCloud and Google Sync?
    Thanks

Maybe not, according to this:  http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/tags/_f/index_tags/_f

  • Is there a Google Sync Alternative for sync'ing Exchange Calendar with iCal?

Previously, I was using Google Sync (one-way) to sync calender events between my microsoft outlook calendar and google calendar which I then had sync'd with my iphone.  I had to format my computer and now when I try looking for the software (Google Sync) it looks to only be available for Google Apps Business Accounts now.  I read up online and it looks like Google has made this change earlier in the year.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can have my outlook calendar events updated on my iphone without connecting directly to the exchange server?
    Thanks

Google calendar will sync with your phone directly. Choose Calendar as one of the things to sync under your Gmail acount settings. I would then check the Google help docks for information on how to sync your computer calendar to Google Calendar.
For what it's worth, I stopped using a calendar app on my computer years ago. I just go directly to the Google Calendar through my browser. Yes, I actually do have it synced to iCal but, as I hate iCal, I never look at that app or use it to enter appointments.

  • How can I sync my Outlook 2010 calendar with Gmail Calendar now that Google Sync is no longer available

My iPhone 3 had been syncing fine with Outlook 2003 via Google Sync.  I recently had to reload my PC, wiped it and installed Outlook 2010 as part of the reload; when I tried to install Google Sync I learned it was no longer available for download after December 14th.....I did have it on another PC, moved it over but got an error message. So I am no longer able to make calendar changes on my iPhone and have them sync to Outlook or vise versa.  In addition my Google calendar is now empty....
Anyone know of a way to enable a sync between Google Calendar and Outlook 2010
Is there a way to add or import my Outlook Calendar to Google Calendar?
Why is all this stuff so complecated!??

no you can not do that. You can sync any web calendar that supports web dav to lightning, but Microsoft have chosen to not use the open standard and instead only offer a Microsoft Proprietary interface. Nothing new here though. They only offered a Microsoft Proprietary interface to download mail for many years. They call it innovation. I call it vendor lock in.
Interestingly enough you can sync office 365 calendar via OWA but not outlook.com

  • Syncing iCloud calendar with google calendar

Is there no way to sync icloud calendar with google calendar?

    This works for me
    Visit: http://icaltogcal.com
Now I see the few icloud appointments in my Google calender and thus browser and (iphone) apps
-add the url as a new google calandar
    -I accept requests via mail
-don't forget to put the sync on: https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect as well as in the various apps.
    good luck!

  • Need Google Sync to Sync from calendar to hand set, but not from handset to calendar

My BES server keeps my BB Calendar current with corporate appointments.
I also use Google Calendar for personal family appointments.
I want to view the Google calendar on the handset.
I don’t care if the personal info gets onto my corporate calendar, but do not want corporate getting on the personal calendar.
Is it possible to have the Google Sync just do a one way sync to the handset?
     Thanks
     Chris

You have two calendars on your device : one linked to your BES account, and one linked to yourt BIS account. Maybe you can tell Google Mobile Sync to do a sync with that second calendar.
the other solution is to do completely differently.
Using Google Calendar Sync on your PC, you can synchronize one-way or two-way between your Outlook Calendar and your Google Calendar.
then your Outlook Calendar gets synchronized via BES with your BlackBerry Calendar (that is my present configuration and I am happy with it).

  • RIM Facebook 1.7 Calendar Issues (with Google sync)

I know that the Facebook app calendar issues have been documented all over the web and in other posts on this forum; but I still have been unable to figure out the best solution to this problem.
I am using the latest version (1.7) of the Facebook app and the latest version of google sync.
Despite unchecking the calendar sync option for the Facebook app, it ALWAYS eventually hijacks the "device default" calendar for my BB (curve 8330) and adds all my friend's birthdays.  It sometimes happens after a battery pull, other times it seems random.  Despite deleting the facebook cical entry, it will always come back eventually.
I am unable to set anything other than facebook in my default calendar option under options>advanced>device default. When I delete the facebook cical, the default calendar selection (options>advanced>default services) disappears entirely I assume that this is because there is no option other than the device default.
I have NEVER had a cical entry for my google calendar.  I'm assuming the google sync app does not need a cical entry.  I'm also assuming that the lack of a cical entry is what is preventing me from selecting my google calendar as my default, which is what many suggest to solve this problem.  I cannot select my google calendar as a default, which isn't a problem until facebook hijacks my calendar.
Previous to FB app 1.7, everytime my calendar was hijacked, google sync would become a one way street (events would sync from the web to my phone, but not vice versa).  To remedy this, I would delete the facebook cical, RSET the calendar manually, and re-sync my google calendar.  This would work fine until the next time FB hijacked the calendar.
Now (in FB 1.7), despite hijacking my calendar, it does not appear to interrupt google sync in either direction.  My google calendar is now named "facebook," but birthdays do not sync to my google calendar.  It is very odd indeed and worries me that this convoluted setup is going to mess up my online google calendar at some point.
Unchecking the calendar option in the facebook app should prevent it from creating a cical entry. Period.  This is very frustrating and discouraging to see RIM update this app from 1.5 to 1.6 to 1.7 without fixing this obnoxious issue.
Has anyone else been able to find a solution to this problem?

Had the same problem here plus the same event kept getting duplicated 20 to 30 times per day.
I tried all of the solutions that people suggested:
    removed facebook cical
set default email to another email address
    battery pull
none of that worked; there was still a "default" email with all of the replicated events.
Then I stumbled upon a Blackberry tip to move all events into one email account.  So, I moved everything into my GMAIL account, and the "default" email disappeared.  Apparently, if a calendar account is deleted without deleting the events (as was the case with Facebook) the rogue events stay in a "default" calendar.
I then used Blackberry desktop manager to create a sync to MS Outlook.  I opened Outlook and did a search for the replicated events (by name).  494 replicated events were found, so I selected all of them and deleted them.  I then went back to Blackberry Desktop Manager, re-synced, was prompted to remove the events and WHAM, problem solved.
Make sure that you uncheck he calendar feature in the Facebook for Blackberry App options.
I hope that this helps others!

  • *SOLVED* Sync BB calendar with Google Calendar w/o BIS/BES

So. Got a BB Bold 9780, but got mighty disappointed as Danish providers either do not provide BIS or do so at rediculous costs.
I am a former Nokia user and on Nokia I was a keen user of Googasync and was looking for something similar for BB.
But to no avail. Googasync does not support BB, and there did not seem to be any alternative.
But sometimes life is just incredible, because as I thought back on how I found Googasync in the first place, I realized I had also tried GCalSync, which is an open source solution (which, admittedly is a tad bit old).
But it gets the job done in spite of being very ugly.
So. www.gcalsync.com is the way to go (and if The Evil Empire takes it down, you can always ask me to mail the app)..
What it does: Syncs a Google Calendar.
    What it doesn't do:
    * Look good
    * Sync multiple calendars (I have a bookmark for Google Calendar in Opera, so that I can see my GF's calendar as well).

To enable Google calendar synchronization with the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
Launch the Email Settings application within the Setup application or Setup folder on the BlackBerry smartphone.
If applicable, select Internet Mail Account.
Select the Gmail address and select Edit.
Scroll down and expand Synchronization Options.
Check the Calendar check box and click Save.
Confirm the Gmail password, and click OK.

  • Wipe Contacts & Calendar via Google Sync

    Hi,
I have just set up Google Sync on my 8900 curve, and it seems to be syncing 2 calendars & the contacts really well.
One thing that has occured to me was that if I lost my phone I could wipe the contacts & calendar on the phone by removing them from the google app account (standard) after making sure the backup of the google account is current of course. Leave it a while for the details to synced and then reinstall the backup under a different password.
However a quick search of the web & this forum sees no mention of this so am I missing something...?

do I understand your need correctly ?
in case of theft, you want to protect the content of your Contacts application.
I have an easier solution : use a device password on your device. The thief will then never be able to access any data on your device except the media card (and event for the media card, you can protect it too). This very simple security measure is one of the reasons for the success of the BlackBerry dynasty.

  • Google Sync calendars

A few weeks ago, I set-up a gmail account so I can sync my iPhone contacts with google. That has been working flawlessly. Now I want to sync my iPhone calendar with my google calendar. I never used the google calendar, so how do I get my calendar entries on my iPhone into the google calendar? Under calendars on my iPhone, I have...
    All calendars
    All on my iPhone
All gmail (nothing there and on my gmail calendars on my desk-top)
I think I set-up everything on my iPhone properly, but the calendar entries in my iPhone are not showing up in my gmail calendar. Help!!!

Yes. I did all this initially when I set-up google sync for my contacts a few weeks ago. I did not turn on calenders under step #13 until this morning when I decided to sync my iPhone to my google calendar. It's all set-up, but the calendar entries on my iPhone are not showing up in my google calendar. My google calendar has no entries because I never used it. I always use my iPhone calendar and now want to get it into the google calendar, so I can sync it with a new device. Make sense?

  • End of GOOGLE SYNC work around (or app) for WIRELESS sync for Gmail calendar

    thnx for help !
i use my google calendar exclusively -no Outlook at all, no desktop manager ever.
With my Curve  i used to use GOOGLE SYNC to immediately update and sync manually.
There is no more GOOGLE SYNC (support ended) ...  Not for my new Tour as it still was working on Curve 12/12/12.
I timed my update I made on my Google calendar online and it took 30 minutes for the bbery calendar to show the update using the wireless sync in the Tour setup.
HOW CAN I MANUALLY tell my bberry to sync wirelessly instead of waiting for however long it takes to auto sync ?
Why did it take so long?
is there a WIRELESS work around or an APP  for the end of Google sync?
    Using Tour 9630
    thanks again!

Could you please ellaborate on which other helps, you've tried?
Data plans are not available for 9780 in Denmark, rendering me unable to access my Google Calendar, except from going through a browser - not ideal, by any means.
So... Any workaround would be appreciated - even only for primary calendar.
I know Nokia has working apps such as Googasync, but I'm unable to find similar for BB (which is curious, as they are both based on S60).

  • Google Calendar sync & multiple calendars

    Hi,
I've got an unlocked Pre2 & 2.1.0.  I'm using a gmail account (calendar, mail, contacts, im), facebook, yahoo (im only) and palm accounts.
My main one is gmail, and I've got 7 calendars.
I've noticed after a doctor that I lost some appointments, so I've been playing a bit.  It seems my main calendar is synchronizing fine, but the others are not (or not always).
I've already done the following things, read in the internet:
    1. I've removed the gmail account completely,
    2. I've set backups off (they've been deleted server side),
    3. I've rebooted the Pre2,
    4. I've added the gmail account again,
    5. I've set backups on again -and made a backup-.
All tests are being done after those 5 steps.  Some examples:
    a. Appointment created through the PC, calendar called "Joan i Pep", shows fine on the Pre2
    b. Appointment created throuth the Pre2, calendar called "Joan i Pep", doesn't show on the PC
What can I do to debug it?  Any hints?
    TIA
Post relates to: Pre p100ueu (Movistar)

I just upgraded to Pre 2 a couple weeks ago and have been experiencing similar problems with my Verizon model and a replacement.  Apparently it is widespread; there is a lengthy (11 pages so far) thread on it in this Community forum.  Try http://palm.lithium.com/t5/Synergy-webOS/strange-behavior-syncing-Pre2-Calendar-with-Google-Calendar... or Google the phrase "strange behavior syncing Pre 2 Google" (look for a search response that references "11 pages" or you'll miss some  of the more recent posts).  Not sure there are any good answers at the moment.  Very disappointing if so; the Google/Pre sync worked flawlessly on my Pre Plus for the past 15 months (webOS v.1.4.5)

  • Sync iCloud calendars on Google Calendar, Sync iCloud calendars on Google Calendar

First of all I know that this is impossible. I'm just frustrated beyond belief that every other free calendar service allows you to share calendars with anyone. Come on apple, this is ridiculous. I'm willing to move over to iCloud from google for my calendar but you gotta have fundamental features working. I need to be able to share my calendars with everyone, not just iCloud users. Until then your service is nothing more than a pity joke. Just like the maps app on the iPhone which has given me wrong and directions uncountable times.

It's your choice - use icloud when "others" who share data use iOS/OSX devices, use google if the others have a mix of platforms.
