Google Talk and iChat Simultaneously

I want to use Google Talk without losing my iChat A/V, ie; Jabber List plus Buddy List. I setup Google Talk in iChat via Jabber, and tried to run it beside my iChat account, but got locked out of AIM because I was 'overusing the server'. I had to deactivate the GT Account (Jabber) to regain my iChat account. Is it not possible to have both? Or is there another solution for VOiP with the Windows world?

Not quite sure what you mean here.
iChat has three Buddy Lists.
The AIM (Main "Buddy List")
The Bonjour one (if you have other Macs)
The Jabber one. (includes GoogleTalk as you say)
The AIM and the Jabber ones require that you log in to different servers.
The only problem I can envisage is if you have set the Jabber account up with using a Transport back to your AIM name.
Having said that you are in Abu Dhabi and this may be what the local ISP is saying about your usage.
The Middle Eastern ISPs have issues all of their own normally centered around "Security"

I am trying to find out if any other people can not longer video chat with a Jabber account using gmail account to anyone else that uses Google Talk. This set up worked fine before the upgrade to Snow Leapord and iChat 5.0
I have contacted Apple support and they will not offer support for setting up Google Talk.
I also have a Mobile Me account and still can not seem to video chat using a specific Apple test account.

In iChat > Preferences > Video section Set the Bandwidth Limit drop down to 500kbps
This may help with the Audio issue with iChat Buddies.
Jabber Buddies not using iChat may not even be able to Video as very few Jabber Servers do this. (And they are working on their own Protocols called Jingle)
GoogleTalk is a Jabber server but have chosen their own method to do Video (not the same Codecs as iChat)
The Web Mail page chat option uses Flash. This seems to be compatible with the PC based Googletalk App (but not with iChat)
These maybe more readily found solutions
Alternatives to iChat but Video chatting In a Web Browser
MeBeam. An option to use a Web site that create Private room for Video Chatting. Uses Flash to access your Camera and Mic.
iVideoChat Similar setup but a somewhat corporate type look to the site. Has Public rooms as well. Again uses Flash.
Googlemail/GoogeTalk now do a Version in a Web Browser
Tokbox A Site that can link your existing Buddy Lists that USes Flash to Video chat in a Browser.

Ichat with google talk and others

Is there any way I can add yahoo..google talk and aim people and see them and speak with them just by using my @me name or my aim name on Ichat version 5.0.1?
if so how..its seems complicated to do all this

You can have a Buddy list based an A Google ID
You can have a separate Buddy LIst based on your @me.com name
The people you know on a Jabber Server or with Google IDs can be added to the GoogleTalk Buddy list.
AIM (And Apple) Buddies can be added to your @me.com Buddy list.
AS Defcom pointed out there is a way with a Jabber server to Link to the AIM service (And therefore get AIM/Apple Buddies into a Jabber /Googletalk Buddy list (GoogleTlak is a Jabber server)
You can not get Jabber Buddies into the AIM list.
So with just an @Me.com Buddy list you can only add those other People that login to AIM.

Where's the option to select Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger? When I click on "Set up Chat" I only get the options to install Gizmo5 and Vyke Mobile.

Why can't I use the Google talk in ichat?

I have MBA with ichat v 5.
I just downloaded google talk using my gmail account.
Now when I click on ichat and went to click on "I am available"
a new windows appear with my gmail address and password to be typed in. When I type in my pass-word it does not!! The same windows keep reappearing to confirm my pass-word!!
How could get my ichat working?
Any help would be appreciated.

That extra lower case l is not the issue. It is the standard message when this happens.
Is port 5223 open in your Modem or router ?
UPnP will be OK for that.
If it is still a problem try deleting com.apple.ichat.Jabber.plist and restarting iChat.
This .plist is in your Home Folder/Library/Preferences which you will have to go to Manually as Spotlight does not look in there.

hi. i am trying to set up ichat with google talk, but in the account type list, there's only AIM, mobleme, and mac.com; then there's the line and nothing else. any help on making it appear??

The Jabber and Google options should be there but greyed out if Parental Controls is On for the Mac User account you are logged in with.

How to Voice Chat on Google Talk with IChat

I am a new mac user, started using just yesterday. I need some help to configure my IChat for Google talk. I managed to configure ichat to do normal text chat thru the settings in google's website. but i am unable to do voice chat. i need help coz google talk is one application that i use extensively..

Gizmo (http://www.gizmoproject.com) allows you to by using a proxy to convert SIP to Jingle. It also does the same thing for Yahoo! Messenger and Windows Live/MSN Messenger users. I've no idea how well it works though.
We'll have to wait until Leopard's released before we know whether Apple has added Jingle support to iChat. If they have you'll be able to do audio (and possibly video) with Gtalk users natively. I wouldn't count on Apple doing this though.

I have an aol account and my friend has a gmail account and we have been trying to chat with eachother. We made sure that we were both online and we were but it said that my friend was offline and unavailable. I thought the problem might be that we have different accounts. Can anyone help?

You both need to using AIM valid name or both using Jabber based IDs like FaceBook or GoogleTalk (oor Yahoo if you must)
Apple's @mac.com and @me.com are Valid AIM names as well as regular AIM names.
Jabber IDs are gained from non centralised servers and there are thousands of Public and private servers issuing IDs
Google Mail with "Talk" enabled on your Accounts settings or a FaceBook account with "Chat" enabled are valid Jabber IDs
Jabber IDs are rarely emails (Google is an exception).
However they follow the email format which means the AIM Buddy list will "accept" them format wise
(the same is true to some extent the other way round)

I don't understand relationship between ichat and mobileme (or google talk)

I don't have a mobileme account and I am using ichat just fine. The documentation says you need a mobileme account, so I'm confused. Also, my ichat on my desktop seems to be a mirror of my google talk -- the chat that shows up on my google mailbox page.
Can someone just explain the basic relationships here?

You need a MobileMe or AIM account to use the MobileMe/AIM service. Google Talk and Jabber accounts use a different service.

If your Google account is active and logged in with iChat, you will see the content of Google Talk in iChat.

IChat NOT CONNECTING with Google TALK - Newbie

I have a huge problem with the Google Talk on iChat.
I followed every step, and nothing seems to work. These are the steps I tried...I created a new jabber account and put all the necessary information like the lD and password. For the server I put 'talk.google.com.' As for the server settings, I left the port at 5223 and left all the boxes checked and 'location' as iChat.
This is the message I keep getting...'Could not connect to host talk.google.com'
Could the problem be the port number? as I am residing in Canada, is there another port number? or could it be a problem with jabber itself...like I have to download some additional stuff for Jabber?

I have several Jabber accounts and have intermittent problems with all of them.
Realistically Google seems to be the worst though, either not connecting or dropping connections every now and then.
But also I am not using a Proxy to get this to work.
The Jabber side of iChat does not have any Proxy options and relies on the System settings in System Preferences > Network
