Google Talk on iPhone (push notification)

Does anyone know how to get gtalk on the iphone with push notifications?

Well, pretty much all the instant messaging apps for the iPhone allow you to remained signed into their servers after you've closed the app, pushing new messages via Apple's push services. However, I don't think any of them are going to let you stay signed in on their server for more than a day or so. I think the free version of IM+ lets you stay signed in for about 2 hours.

  • Duplicate iPhone push notifications for some apps

does anyone know how to fix the problem of getting the same iphone push notification from some (could be all) apps twice?
i've tried reinstalling the applications but no luck with that so i've been searching for solutions online. i am guessing it could have something to do with the server.
someone posted what looks like a similar problem here (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2161717) but it was archived so i could not contribute there.

The problem likely resides with the server (either the application-specific servers run by the developer, or Apple's push notification servers, probably the former).

  • 2G iPhone push notification not working

Have an iPhone 2g still locked on o2! Some how the push notification isn't working! Any one know how to fix it?
Dnt wanna unlock or jailbreak it to put that app called push fix!

Push for a particular app? All apps? Have you tried a reset? To reset the iPhone, press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the slide to power off prompt).

  • IPhone Push Notifications Problem

Hey everyone, I am new to the use of this Apple forum and new to Apple products altogether. I recently (several weeks ago) got myself an Iphone 3GS, so far I am very pleased with the device altogether although I have some queries perhaps some more experienced users might help me with.
I have downloaded and installed the ebuddy app on my Iphone and also facebook, however I cannot seam to get push notifications to work on any of my apps. I am running OS 3.0.1 and have activated push notifictions in settings and also made sure its activated in the separate ebuddy tab under notifications. I have also opened ebuddy and activated notifications to remain signed in for 10 minutes after closing the app.
However I am not receiving any notifications from any apps at all
I also cannot send MMS from my Iphone, I am with telstra in queensland Australia.

  • IPhone Push Notifications issues

My iPhone 4S OS 5.0.1 wouldn't receive push notifications even when I've received SMSes.
For example, when someone sends me a SMS / WhatsApp message, my iPhone doesn't give off any vibration or notifications saying there's a message incoming.
(Only discover the incomin message after seeing the (1) icon in Messages)
Note: my device was switched on..
    It's running on iOS 5.0.1
Hopefully I can receive some help which could resolve my issues!
    Thanks! :)

you'll need to contact the whatsapp developer if your having issue with notification, since you are using a 3rd party app for messaging and not the default message app.

  • IPhone push notifications

I think one of my favorite features of this phone is the push notifications.  It kills android in this aspect.  I always no what going on, and never miss a thing.  My wife loves her new fascinate, will my old one and her new one.  She was coming from a samsung rogue.

    Try:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
then set it up as a new phone (not using the backup).

  • IPhone 4 push notification delay

    Hi guys,
I have a problem with iPhone push notifications for the last two weeks. I use the same wifi network at home and in the office and the same devices (MacBook Pro with retina display, iPad 3rd gen and iPhone 4). While the iPad and MacBook Pro receive iMessages, Emails, Twitter and Facebook notifications and all the other notifications at the same time, the iPhone receives it 5–10 mins later or even more.
I have push turned on. I have tried to restore the iPhone and restored data from the backup (because I need data on it). I don't know what is the reason and why it started happening. I haven't install new apps this time or changed settings etc.
Any ideas? iPad and iPhone has the same iOS 5.1.1. Mac has the latest Mountain Lion 10.8.1 as well.
I saw people saying it's the problem of iOS 5.1.1, but iPad works fine in my case, so the problem might me different.

Okay, if you set up Gmail and Yahoo mail in the Exchange fashion, then push should work. However, there have been a number of posts on this and other forums about the failings of Yahoo push for some time now. I would believe this could be your issue with that. As far as Gmail, if you have push set up correctly in all the areas for that and it is set up for the Exchange version, it should work. I do not use either of these mail providers, so I cannot make comments based on personal experience. As far as Facebook is concerned, I would suggest turning off the notification and then turning it back on again. I use Facebook but not push notifications as it is not that important to me, however there is a section in Settings, Facebook and that sets push notifications.
If none of this corrects your Facebook issue, I suggest a restore. When connected to iTunes, you can click on Restore. Make sure you do a backup of the iPhone, you sync your contact and calendar data to the supported application on the computer and import photos from the camera roll. Try a restore from a backup first, and if that doesn't work, then a restore as a new device. Then sync information back to the iPhone from iTunes.

  • Google Talk Messages Only Appear In Notification Center

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, instant messages from Google Talk only appear in Notification Center. (IM's between iCloud and AIM work fine.) On one occasion, I was able to double-click on the incoming IM from Google Talk, and it opened in the Messages app. However, subsequent IM's are effectively trapped in Notification Center. I am unable to single or double-click on them to reply. The only indication that I see to know a new IM from Google Talk has arrived is Message's icon bounces once in the Dock, and gets badged with the number of new messages.
This was not a problem using the Messages Beta with Lion, which did not have Notification Center as a feature. The only interesting Messages related message I find in the Console is:
7/30/12 12:11:45.733 pm Messages[5475]: *** WARNING: -[NSImage compositeToPoint:fromRect:operation:fraction:] is deprecated in MacOSX 10.8 and later. Please use -[NSImage drawAtPoint:fromRect:operation:fraction:] instead.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Timothy Arends1, if you want notifications to be displayed in the notification center, just set the one you want to see in the "INCLUDE" section.
Settings > Notifications > Edit > Touch the bars on the right of the app you want to be notified and drag into the INCLUDE section.

  • Push Notification Service For Developers

I was just wondering if anybody had any information about Apple's Push Service for developers. They originally said it would be available in September but I have heard nothing of it. Maybe after the MobileMe troubles, which I experienced none of, they want to wait until it is perfect.
This service, in my opinion, will complete the iPhone and the App Store.

    Anybody know anything?

I watched that movie on the conference but i thought it was up and running in September!

  • Push notifications not working on iOS 8.1

Notifications are not working on my iPhone 6 Plus, I don't know that someone's messaged me until I the Skype app

As far as I am concerned, Skype is compeltely broken for iphones. I have 4 iphones at home, two of them are the latest iphone6s. On all my iphones, push notifications are not working, and they have not been working for the last 6 months or so. First I thought it was something with my phone, but i bought two new iphone 6s and Skype push nitifications are still not working.  OK, if push nitification is not working, I will just use it like an email by trying to refresh it every once in a while to check if i have new messages. Alas, that's not working either! The message seem to come in spurts, most of the time, it's not updating even when i log in and out. This is the worst I have seen with Skype on iphone since iphoen came eout around 2007. Usually there might be a small issue that will last around a few weeks and a new update will generally fix it. This is different. With the 'new' iphone interface where you can't even save a phone number, and the completely broken messaging functions, I start to seriously question if this is some kind of scheme from Microsoft to gradually phase out Skype by making it less and less useful.

  • Disable all push notifications iOS7

In iOS6 you can do Settings->Notifications->Off.
I want to disable ALL push notifications on my iPad.
I do not want my iPad talking to Apple push notification servers. And I don't want pop ups on my screen.
    How is this achievable?

I have had the same problem and what I have found that you can do is:
Settings->Notification centre->select app->choose none at the top and scroll down and choose to not show in notification centre
This us the only thing I have found that you can do and it seems to stop them coming through for me!
    Hope this has helped you

  • Google voice: no push notifications if iphone 5 is asleep using ios7

hi, since i've upgraded to ios 7, google voice does not work when my phone is asleep. There are no push notifications, nor does the phone ring. i have to manually check my phone for missed calls/texts.
anyone else have this issue? my settings are for push notifications to appear and i only had this issue since upgrading to ios 7. there are some other buggy issues but this one is the most annoying.

I have the exact same problem you have? I can occasionally getpushnotification, but only once a day fore facebook. For twitter, I get nothing and newer got. Other programs never got any notification att all.Push notification is on both under notification center and the respective programs.I have iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4S.

  • Push notifications for specific apps not working even though the badge updates (Facebook, Google  etc.)

So this has been happening for months now. I was expecting iOS 5 to fix it, but it hasn't. Push notifications for specific apps do not work. Some come through just fine, but Facebook and Google+ in particular don't work correctly. Facebook push notifications seem to work when the notification is generated from an action performed on a mobile device (ie: someone writes on my wall from another iPhone); if they do the same thing on the desktop, the notification doesn't seem to come through.
As for Google+, I've never seen a single push notification come through as it should, even though I've seen other iPhones with the same app reciving these notifications with no issue.
This is particularly strange because the badge on the app icon usually updates (though it feels like fetch, not push), but the notifications simply don't make it into the notification center (or on the lock screen as they should). As I said, this has been happening for months, long before iOS 5, and the problem has persisted now that I'm running iOS 5.
I've checked and rechecked all notifiation settings for these apps. I've uninstalled and reinstalled them. I've called Apple support and they couldn't offer me any help. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
    Thanks for your time.

I got an iPhone 4s and I'm experiencing the same problems.  I used facebook messenger, and used to get the push notifications to that app, but now that i've deleted it I no longer get the messages directly to the facebook app.
I have push on in the mail settings and notification center for facebook are on as well.  I also have push notifications on in the settings for facebook.
I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling, no fix.  I haven't tried a hard reset yet.
So far, I figured out that it's not iOS or the facebook app, somehow it is a problem with my account.  I logged into my wife's account on my iphone and her account is able to recieve push notifications to my iphone.
    Any thoughts?

  • Gmail push notifications very erratic on iPhone and iPad

    iPhone 4S
    iOS 6.1.2
    iPad 2
    iOS 6.1.2
The push notifications on my iPhone and iPad have become very erratic but ONLY for my gmail account.  My work exchange account is working fine, in fact flawless.
Symptons:  I will receive an email that I can clearly see on gmail.com, but will wait for my iPhone and iPad to notify me and nothing.  I'l wait several minutes and still nothing.  I wake my iphone and check mail and have to manually pull down to refresh my email.  It's not all the time though, it's very sporadic.  For instance, if I wait long enough they will eventually show on my lock screen, but it can be several minutes to a half hour or more.
I only noticed this the past few days and I'm almost positive that I just upgraded both my iPad and iPhone to 6.1.2 just last week.  I am not sure if I can sum this up to "happening right after the upgrade to 6.1.2" or not.  However, it does seem to be a strong coincidence that I just upgraded and now I'm having the problem.
I have both my iPhone and iPad notifications set up the same way for both my email accounts and both have always worked fine and both have become erratic within the last few days.  I have not changed any settings.  I notice this both when I'm on cellular and when I'm home on my wifi network.
Is this something others are experiencing?  Strange that it's both my iPhone and iPad and no settings have changed.
Thanks all for any help you can offer.

I'm not sure if any of you use the gmail exchange support which WAS the only way you could sync email and calendar events and get push notifications for years.  Well it's going away, actually it's gone for new sync users.  For instance, you can not set up a new phone the way I have my phone set up if you are setting up a new sync account.  However, google's article...
    http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en-uk&hlrm=en&answer=2716936
...clearly states that if you were an existing sync customer, you should have no problems.  Well, I guess they are sort of trying to "push" people to the new CardDAV.  I guess I'll bite and try it out tonight.  I am a very old google sync user (iphone 3G, 4 and 4S) and have not changed anything, so from this article I should be fine.  Well, I'm not.
I'll definitely try the "new" way and let you all know tonight (or tomorrow morning) how it's going.
    Thanks again for the replies.
Support for exchange active sync was dropped by Google for free accounts on Jan 30 of 2013. Apple was prepared for that since November of last year, you can check date on that article.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4872?viewlocale=en_US
Since Gmail still using Card Dav protocol, it allows new devices to sync Contacts. Google mail account takes care of emails and calendars sync by itself. It does have to do with push (you dead on), cause exchange supports push on whole other level, but it has nothing to do with your case. The information that I gave in my first post still stands. It looks like you think you know more then all people that responded to you, but (sorry, still feeling entitled to my humble opinion) you will see your push fixed by itself. Even funnier if you will make some change and it will coincide with google server back online. You will come here and provide us with your "fix".
Perhaps it will be something like "I just changed show emails from 100 to 200."
    @applenascent.
The way it works is simple. We do not realize, but google server actually knows what device is connecting to their server to pick mail. I had to replace my wife's ipad on Feb 7. Even when I restored from the icloud back up that for all intents and purposes made that ipad very similar - the account was still there, but simple gmail without exchange. Deleting account and re adding as exchange didn't provide solution. It just showed up as gmail. They even changed server name from m.google.com to google.com.
BTW it is quite possible that aTanasi's trick will fix the problem. I had to start running yahoo and gmail apps running on the background. I do not use them, but if there is a problem with account, like security kicks in harder, app is more capable to address that issue and informs me of what is wrong. I still find native mail app more pleasant, but thanks and credit to aTanasi.
