Google talk on my torch 9860
Hi,
I am unable to connect to google talk, below message pops up while attempting to connect;
"service not enabled for this handheld."
Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
Good luck!

What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > Device > About, third line down beginning with a "v.7.0.x.xxx", What is yours?

Torch 9860 - Problem with wifi network
Hi,
I have a BB Torch 9860 and the internet access doesn´t work properly when connected to a wifi connection.
With my carrier data plan, everything works. Every time i connecto to a wifi connection, the internet access stops working. I tried to clean all registered networks, added new networks, everything i can remember of, but nothing works. The only way to get internet access on my phone, is with the carrier´s data plan.
Is this some kind of bug or software block?
I serched through the forum, and tried some of the solutions and sugestions, but nothing works.
The only satisfied part with this purchase so far is my carrier who seems to be very happy with the access through their data plan!
Can anyone give me a hand on this subject?
Thanks,
RuiHi and Welcome to the Community!
Not knowing what you already found and attempted, we risk redundancy...nevertheless, with that risk...
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support. In very rare cases, I have heard of carriers blocking the use of BIS via WiFi...but only they (your carrier) can answer as to if that is what they are doing.
Oh...wait...another though...a bit of a wild one...please check this:
Article ID: KB30076 How to check for an IT Policy on a BlackBerry smartphone
If you have an IT Policy and are on BES, then talk to your BES admins about if they may perhaps be blocking this. If you have an IT Policy but are not on BES, then you have much bigger problems to deal with...you will need to backup your device, conduct a ResetToFactory, and then restore your device (but ONLY partial...do not do a full restore or it will put the IT Policy back on and you'll be right back where you started).

[Torch 9860] - Network indicates roaming "Rogers Wireless - Fido" with Fido SIM
Hello,
I recently purchased a BlackBerry Torch 9860.
I have a Fido SIM card
When I insert my SIM, and I turn on cellular, the network says "Rogers Wireless - Fido" with the roaming triangle next to it.
Why is this the case and will I be charged roaming whenever I make a call or send an SMS?
Thanks,
Tobias
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You need to check if your BB is unlocked or not...see this:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/General-BlackBerry-Functions-and/Unlocking-your-BlackBerry-Gu...
If, for instance, your BB is locked to Rogers, then when you try to use a Fido SIM, it may be having to run via the Rogers network to get to Fido. Or, if Fido has no coverage where you are, it may have to roam on Rogers to get to Fido.
As for billing, you have to talk to Fido and/or Rogers about that.
Good luck!

Unlocked Torch 9860 Service Providers
I purchased an unlocked Torch 9860. Took it to Verizon and was told it couldn't be used on my account. So...went to Straight Talk. Same answer. No one seems to have a compatible SIM card. What provider can I use this phone with? Would really like to keep my Verizon account. Any advice?
Have you try ATT OR TMOBILE?

A1 -- Google Talk (chat) does not work for me
I have not been able to get Google Talk to work on my A1 tablet since I got it. The tablet does almost everything I want it to and I've been able to figure out and fix all the bugs so far except for Google Talk.
When I try to start the app, I immediately get a force close and have no other choices--not even to report. I can't figure it out. Has anyone else had this problem? I appreciate any help.
Also, will your Google Maps continue to work once you've left a WiFi zone? Like if you change course and it needs to reroute?
Thanks,
Jeff VoegtlinI turned on Talkback to see if I can reproduce this, I understand that when I turned it on the following cannot be turned on at the same time:
air gesture, aire view, assistant menu, smart screen, interaction control. multi window, turn off all sounds, direct pen input, palm motion and one-handed operation.
In the url bar there is no autocomplete, but if you tap over the suggestions on the newtab page that is below it will read the highlighted suggestion. However for elements in an html page I could not highlight or select the dropdown menu items as well.
Is this an android bug as well? -
Google talk audio/video plugin used to work fine on Firefox 3, but does not work anymore on Firefox 4. Every time I click on the video chat icon on google talk, I am asked to install the plugin, even if I have already installed it before. The plugin works properly on the latest version of IE on the same PC.
Thanks for your help. I do not want to switch to Chrome or Opera, but if this bug is not fixed, I will have to.Not sure if installing IE 9 did it or not but I now see the camera in IE, FF and Chrome. Could be Facebook fixed the problem also.
Thanks for the reply.

I use a Google Talk account, and I was delighted to see that iChat was compatible with it. However, one day it stopped working and I saw my account was deleted. I went to re-create it and Jabber and Google Talk are no longer choices I can choose from. I can see them, but I can't actually select them. Any help would be great, because a lot of my friends are Google Talkers.
Have you Enable Parental Controls on this Mac User Account ?
Have you set Parental Controls on another User Account and set iChat up with the same ID ?
(Have you used the same ID/Screen Name on another computer that has Parental Controls ?)
If you have and you have not allowed the Jabber Buddies to be listed or have not set the iChat part up in the first place you will have issues as Jabber (and therefore Googletalk) and Bonjour can be Blocked.
This more effects Leopard than it does Snow Leopard but that was why I hinted at other computers because it blocks the Buddies by Flagging them on the Server (this does not explain why you cannot access the choice in the current iChat)

Getting Truphone to work with Google Talk to make a free call
I'm trying to make a free call from my iPhone to my home computer using Truphone.
I installed Truphone on my iPhone and I have a Google Talk account on my Mac using Jabber in iChat. I'm trying to get the two the communicate with each other to make a phone call. Truphone requires me to call Google Talk using this number/code: [email protected] to invite it to engage in a phone call with the iPhone. Once the invite is accepted, then it will work - it says. Problem is that i cannot add this letters ([email protected]) on my iPhone to the mobile number field, only numbers. I am able to do it on my Mac and sync it to my iPhone, but for some reason the @ symbol gets dropped out of it and it won't work otherwise.
Has anyone had this same issue and was able to get it to work? Or...has anyone been able to get Truphone to be able to call their Mac using wifi to make a free call?I sent a question to Truphone regarding this issue and this was their response. Bummer.
Dear K D,
Unfortunately it is not currently possible to dial SIP addresses
([email protected]) using the Truphone iPhone client. This includes calling
Google Talk addresses.
The Truphone service for the iPhone is an outbound calling solution. When
you're connected to Truphone you're able to make cheap Truphone calls over the
Internet. Please note that inbound calls will be received via your mobile/cell
network and not via Truphone.
New Truphone accounts for the iPhone won’t be assigned a separate Truphone
number. Instead your outgoing caller id will be presented as your
mobile/cellular number that you entered during the installation process.
Calls to other Truphone users who are using Nokia devices are free when both
parties are online.
If you have any further queries please reply to this email for assistance.

Login ID or password is incorrect for Google Talk in iMessage
Hi all,
Maybe this question has already occured in prior discussions, however, I cannot find any solutions yet. I can login to my gmail account, can receive emails from Mail on my Mac with no problems. However, I cannot connect to google talk in iMessage where it asks me for the password over and over again. What can I change or can anybody help me out to fix that problem?
Thank you very much.
ImmanueliMessage is still not connecting to Google Talk, and I dont think that Google need more than a day to fix that problem. Any other suggestions? I am 100% sure that my ID and password are correct but iMessage keeps on asking me over and over again that those information will be wrong.
See picture below.
Thank you -
Unable to receive email in HTML format on BB Torch 9860 with BIS
I recently purchased BB Torch 9860 with OS 7 and configured by personal and work email on BIS. I am receiving emails only in text format. In some emails with images that have hyperlink, I just see a link and images not displayed. All the images comes as an attachment in the email. My friend having another BB Torch is able to view emails as HTML. But he is with BES.
Is there any solution for my issue? I am not receiving any options in the email preference to enable HTML format for emails.
Appreciate if anyone could help me with this.

How do I get google talk to accept my password when using imessage?
I have both a MacBook Air and Pro using iOS X - Maverick. For the longest I have not been able to use iMessage with Google Talk. I need to be on Google Talk for work and decided to set it up. I set it up, but when I shut it down and then re-open it, Google Talk will not accept my password. When I go to Google, it indicate suspicious behavior. I can't find anywhere that will allow me the option allow imessage to use google talk in my google settings. Please help.
Hi 2douglas,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the password is being rejected. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Is there a way to see Google Talk conversations in iMessage on my iOS device
My Apple ID and Phone # conversations are showing up great on my Mac, Phone and IPad but on my Desktop I also have Google Talk contacts in iMessage. Those only show up on my Mac. Is there a way for those conversations to also show up on my iPhone and iPad?
Well, blerg!
Thanks anyway.
I haven't thought it all out, but I assume there is some issue with data usage when outside of wifi or something. Possibly it's that iMessages are suppose to be encrypted and that can't always be the case if the pathway is Google Talk for certain conversations?
Otherwise it would make sense to handle it the same way Messages on the desktop does. -
Why doesn't the App Store have a Google Talk client FROM Google?
An IM client without push notifications isn't an IM client. I don't know why a person wouldn't just use email as opposed to a Safari-based IM client on a device that can't run Safari+anything (or when the device is idle). Web-based Google Talk is pointless when iPhone user A has to call iPhone user B and say, "hey, let's chat in Google Talk! go to your Google Talk web site and let's start!". just ridiculous.
What's just as silly is expecting people to give a 3rd party your Google Account credentials. From looking at the forums, plenty of people do just that which blows my mind. Think for 10 minutes all your personal information someone has if they have your Google Account credentials. More and more people are nervous at what Google might do with that info and I'm expected to share my credentials with a 3rd party I've never heard of??
What's even more laughable are those that give their "Google Apps" credentials to those 3rd party IM services which is basically for those that use Google for their corporate email, calendar, docs, internal web sites, etc. I mean, that's grounds for dismissal in most organizations (the bottomline is that there is no Google Talk capability for the iPhone if you are a Google Apps customer, for reasons of practicality and corporate compliancy).
Aside from blowing off steam, I'd like to know who is holding up Google from releasing a Google Talk app for the iPhone that has push notification? Is it Google that's uninterested or Apple that prohibiting them? From what little I've found and from where these two are seeming to part ways, it looks like it's Apple holding up Google from releasing this app. If that's the case, I'd like someone to confirm so I (and hopefully others) can start complaining to Apple. Right now this is the biggest reason I'm waiting for at&t to offer an Android-based device instead of buying my first iPhone. I'm tired of waiting but if Apple is holding Google at bay just for an IM client, I can see the writing on the walls and want no part of an Apple world devoid of Google apps. I just soon go with Android and benefit from the software developer that's developing the most useful apps available (google).Official word from Google rep:
"This limitation is not because of Google's relationship with Apple and Apple is not thwarting Google from delivering a GTalk solution"
So my theory gets flushed down the toilet apparently. Oh well!
