Google tool bar won't install on Mac OS 10.4.11

Mac OS 10.4.11. Was using earlier Firefox then installed 3.6.8 and now many add-ons won't work but mostly I need Google tool bar which won't install. Also no autofill.

Jeff, there was nothing under logs/Adobe/installers. Instead, I had to scroll through "All reports" and find the log there. Under Adobe, I only found Reader updater and the CC Cleaner protocoll:
The protocoll for the installation attempt looks like this:

So I'm still at a loss. Is there another element I need to open the application in 10.9?

I installed the google tool bar supported by Firefox but I don't see a home key (little house symbol) to return me to the home page.

In Firefox 4 the Home icon was moved the right-side of the Navigation Bar, see the screenshot image below.

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues,

Once it is installed, open Addons Manager and re-enable Google Toolbar.

  • Google tool bar not showing

I have downloaded and installed the Google tool bar. I have the tool bar checked but it does not show up. It appears the menu bar on top drops down to make room for the tool bar but the icons never show up. I can't figure out what is blocking it from displaying or if there is an issue with Firefox 4. Using window 7.
    Thanks
    Doug

  • Google tool bar settings???

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knows how to change the google tool bar so that it uses google.ca instead of google.com (assuming it's even possible).
    Thanks!!

You can download and install Safari Enhancer to do that. It's in the System Wide Settings tab.

Make sure you get the correct version.

  • Upgraded to v 5.0 and now my Google Tool Bar is "incompatible".

I cannot install the Google Tool Bar in Firefox v 5.0.
I have used it in all previous FF versions but now when I attempt to install I get an "incompatibility" error. Any plans to fix this or should I go back to Chrome?

Extensions for Firefox, such as the Google Toolbar, include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
    (1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
    (2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions
This thread has info on both approaches: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/837142 google toolbar does not work with firefox 5.0. why not! | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].

  • Can I change the background color of the Google Tool Bar?

The current Google Tool Bar has very light white letters on a black backgound. This makes it difficult to use. do you have a replacement which makes it difficult to see and therefore use. I would like a tool bar with a lot more contrast.

That change is the result of one of Google's experiments.

  • I no longer have a tool bar, or Google tool bar or an address bar. The only thing I have up thee is my favorites menu bar. I have no way of going to a web site unless it is in my favorites menu bar.

The only thing at the top of the page is my favorites menu tool bar. I have no Google tool bar I have no address tool bar. There isn't a place to type in a web address. The only way I got here was opening Internet Explorer. No Tools or help menu. I even did a system restore to 5 days ago. Didn't help. Please help. I don't want to switch to IE.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I right clicked in the tool bar area and it gives me the choice of removing different tool bars or adding them. I removed one just to see which one it was. OOPS not a good idea. When I right click now the same menu doesn't come up.

Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar & Navigation bar, so so they have a check-mark.

  • I can't get the google tool bar for 5.

It says Google tool bar does not work.

    Taken from https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/851054#answer-216118
''Google needs to update the Google Toolbar program for Firefox 5.0.''
''The Google Toolbar 7.1.20110512W version does work pretty good in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension. But not every feature works 100%.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/''
''Google Labs has been working on a GTB 8 version, but it looks like it isn't made for Firefox - just for Internet Explorer.
    http://www.google.com/support/toolbar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1111588#toolbar_info
So, maybe Google isn't going to be supporting Firefox any longer. That might be a move to force Google Toolbar users over to Google Chrome, which I believe has all those features built-in.''
Check and tell if its working.

  • Can't get google tool bar with firefox 5. How do I get it?

    Down loaded Firefox 5.
Went to Google to add tool bar and said not available to have a google tool bar with 5 version.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home button for 10 seconds.  Does it power on?

  • Please fix the compatibility issue regarding google tool bar

I have now FF5 and this version is NOT compatible with Google Tool Bar. I have all of my favorites and bookmarks on that tool. I do not and will not use the bookmark feature in FF. Google is everywhere and I can access it most places and feel it is a large error on Mozilla to exclude such a widely accepted plugin.

chibangbodies, looks like you did not bother to read past first post. It is Google that needs to update their extension, always been that way.
Firefox 5.0 is pretty much both a security update in place of 4.0.2 and has some additional features fixes that would not likely have been in a point update.
The vast majority of extensions that were compatible with 4.0.1 should be compatible with 5.0 with mainly just a maxversion bump. Unless it happens to be a extension that needs additional work sue to some changes or updates.
Also when dawn.prentice@ posted this thread some 2 weeks ago the Firefox 5.0 was still in Beta testing (beta 4 of 7) as it was only just officially released June 21.

  • When I click the bookmark icon on the Google tool bar I am asked to login which I do but still can't access my bookmarks.

My OS is Vista Business and I'm using Firefox version 8. I'm using the Google Tool Bar and have an icon for Bookmarks but when I click it a message pops up "Sign in to access your Google bookmarks. I sign in but still can't access my bookmarks.

The Google Toolbar isn't compatible with versions of Firefox beyond Firefox 4. If you are overriding extension compatibility to get to be enabled in Firefox 8, that isn't going to work since Google changed the logon URLs a couple of months ago; that broke the Google Toolbar even further.
