Have you set the version of Java that you want used?

This is not a message that Adobe is providing, and I recommend that you not click on the link. It sounds as though you might have malware on your computer.

Is your laptop running Windows XP, windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1?  If so then I suggest download a tool that will retrieve the serial number from the old laptop which you can use it on your new machine.  The tool is called:
    Belarc Advisor
It can be downloaded from here:
    <http://www.belarc.com/Programs/advisorinstaller.exe>
Install this and then run it by double clicking on its icon and then wait for about 5 minutes while it generates all the info about your machine and software keys.

  • Can't access JAVA plug-in download site

I need a JAVA plug-in installed to complete a shipping transaction on eBay that I have already been charged for.
EBay window will not let me automatically install the plug-in so I click on the manual install choice & navigate to the JAVA Free Java download buttom page.
    http://java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp?locale=en
Clicking the button gets a "The connection was reset..." & I cannot install the plug-in.
    Help!!!

Try to download the full offline 32 bit Java installer.
You can find the latest Java version on the Oracle website.

  • Failed to download java download client

Trying to get a webex meeting going w/new firefox 4 install, I get:
"Failed to download java download client!
Sorry, you do not have java download client enabled. Please try again or inform your Site Administrator to set up for you. "
There is no site administrator, it's my Mac so I'm it. ;) I've googled it and I see nothing on how to turn this on. Basically you can try and start a webex meeting here:
    http://www.webex.com/lp/jointest/
That also chokes with the same error. Works with Firefox 3.x no problems... but with firefox 4 no dice. Probably some simple setting I'm missing... can someone give me a clue?

    Workaround:
Find your Firefox application in Finder, right click on it, click on "File Info", select 32-bit mode, and restart Firefox.

  • Google Warning

    Hello,
I have received a Google warning today when trying to open a new tab in Chrome on my iMac.  It said that there had been heavy traffic coming from my IP address and wanted me to enter a word appearing on the screen, which I did as I couldn't see any posible harm in that.
I'm a little puzzled as I hadn't been particularly busy browsing or downloading anything, could it be an indication that there is some sort of Malware/Trojan sending personal info from my iMac?
If so, what is the best way to detect that and deal with it?
    I'm running Mac OS X Lion v 10.7.5
    thanks

I have received a Google warning today
Mac malware is rare, viruses are zero, but phishing attempts have been around for as long as humans roamed the Earth and are just as common. Just because some popup or site asks you to enter some words or whatever doesn't mean squat. Treat such requests as you would an unwanted phone call, or junk mail. Ignore it.
Heavy traffic coming from your IP address, my posterior.
I can think of few reasons to use Chrome. Actually, I can think of none. Use Safari, or Firefox, but to date Google's efforts at making Chrome run on a Mac have been pathetic.

  • What is the Forms 10.1.2.3 download site?

    Hi all:
I want to install forms10g in Vista, and then oracle.com said forms version must is 10.1.2.3.
But in the Software Downloads , Oracle Developer Suite 10g last version is 10.1.2.0.2.
Can anyone tell me what is the Forms 10.1.2.3 download site?
    Thanks a lot.

    Haiye,
It is a little confusing to find the patch that you are looking for. It is listed under the Oracle Fusion Middleware Family not under iDS family as you might expect. The patch number is 5983622. Also, be warned, it is a very large download (1.7 Gb).
    Hope this helps.

  • Download site not working

The javaserver faces download site at http://java.sun.com/j2ee/javaserverfaces/ has been down since last week (the WEB page is up, but the links to download software have been removed).
Are there any mirror sites for javaserver faces?
    Thanks!

I wonder what are we supposed to understand from this?
    Is JSF still there?

  • Google Chrome won't download

Just got a new iMac,OS 10.8.2,want to try using the Chrome browser. Clicked the download button on the Google home page, clicked "download" on the next page but download never started.
I had this problem earlier with Adobe Reader, had to reset my  prefs in system prefs>security and privacy>general to allow downloads from all sites, which is what it is now,but still cannot download Chrome?
Is there another preference I have to change?
    TIA
    Caroline

    Thanks for the quick response.
I did get the page with the license terms and accepted it.
Then I got a black page that should have started a download, but never did.
The Safari icon never bounced in the dock, and Chrome never appeared in the Safari downloads folder.
I finally just used FireFox to download Chrome with no problems.
I am thinking that Firefox or Chrome will end up being my default browser on this new iMac--Safari is looking very unreliable.

  • Simple java download bundled with my app -- what link can I use

I have a java app that I'd like to make as easy as possible for people to install and use who don't know about java or don't want to deal with installing a JRE. I built two different setup files, one bundled with a private jre for the app and one that just has the app.
If the user downloads the non-jre-bundled version, and they either don't have a jre or they have a version that's not supported by the app, my insatller will detect this and abort the install with instructions to download a jre or download the bundled verison of the app.
I'd prefer to ask the user's permission to download a private jre automatically in the above scenario. I know how to do this with my installer enviropnment (NSIS), but I can't find a suitable url from Sun that serves this purpose. I need a link that bypasses the licence agreement page and just directly downloads the jre.
I got a url from a sample NSIS script that seems to provide this, but the most recent file is dated June 2005 and points to JRE 5 Update 1.
    The root url is http://dlc.sun.com/jdk/
From there you can see several jre/jdk links for 1.4 and 1.5, but no 1.5 jre or jdk with anything beyond update 1.
Does anyone know of a link I could use to directly download the latest jre 1.5?

If any such site exists, it is in violation of Sun's
current Java license.I'm not a lawyer, but the JRE License Agreement seems to be written in English, so I took a look at it. Paragraph B of the Supplemental License Terms (near the end of the license) would seem to apply, and I've pasted it below.
As I read it, I think you're right that a direct download site is in violation of the agreement. This seems to be the case because item (v) requires anyone distributing Sun's JRE to pass on the license terms. By definition a direct download site doesn't do that.
Having said that, it seems that the site I pointed out in the original post is a Sun site. Apparently they're willing to violate their own license terms. I just wish they'd update the site, so something beyond Update 1 were available for JRE 5.
This is the first time I've ever heard this. I've
seen many people on this forum getting help bundling
the JRE with their app. Note that the Sun license agreement does not preclude bundling the JRE with you app, so long as you obey the stated restrictions.
Excerpt of SUN JRE License Agreement
    B. License to Distribute Software. Subject to the
terms and conditions of this Agreement and restrictions
and exceptions set forth in the Software README file,
including, but not limited to the Java Technology
Restrictions of these Supplemental Terms, Sun grants
    you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license
without fees to reproduce and distribute the Software,
provided that (i) you distribute the Software complete
and unmodified and only bundled as part of, and for the
sole purpose of running, your Programs, (ii) the
Programs add significant and primary functionality to
the Software, (iii) you do not distribute additional
software intended to replace any component(s) of the
Software, (iv) you do not remove or alter any
proprietary legends or notices contained in the
Software, (v) you only distribute the Software subject

consistent with the terms contained in this Agreement,
and (vi) you agree to defend and indemnify Sun and its

any claim, lawsuit or action by any third party that

  • Scam Flash Player Download Site

Apologies in advance if this is posted to the wrong forum.
Looking down the list, I couldn't find one that seemed more relevant.
There is a scam Flash Player download site at:
    flashplayer.10-downloadcenter.com/
Typing "flash," "flash player," "flash player 10," and other obvious search terms into Google brings the site up at the top of the page.
It is using graphics that look very much like Adobe's trademarks which can lead people to believe the site is connected with Adobe.  They are also using phrases such as "Flash Player 10" that would appear to be Adobe trademarks.  The first time I looked at the site, I thought I was at an Adobe page because the trademark appeared to be there, and there was no notice that an Adobe trademark was being used - something one almost always sees at sites where a trademark in use is not owned by the site. If I were Adobe, I'd have my magnifying glass going over that site, looking for infringement.  (Who knows - maybe they've already looked ... )
There is a lot of stuff on the page that could lead one to believe they are Adobe, offering enhanced software and services.  And - bingo - selling is what they are doing.  Get out your credit card to download their stuff - including Flash Player 9.
The trick, when reading the fine print, is that they are selling "memberships."  I wonder how many people have downloaded Flash Player from this site, believing they are buying it directly from Adobe.  My niece did.  She's trying to get the charge removed from her credit card as I type this message.

Further information regarding suspicious actions of this site.
The site had been asked to cancel the transaction within two hours of it taking place.  Some of the charges involved extra "premium" software sold along with the "Flash Player 10" download.  An extra ~$10 for software that would supposedly increase download speeds greatly.  The software all turned out to be PC only, with no mention of there being no Mac version, and no place to check.  The site indicated that Flash Player 10 would be downloaded, but all that was available was Flash Player 9 - which was probably already on the machine.  One also has to wonder whether their versions don't have zombie payloads.
An archive of the the purchase confirmation page was fortunately kept to save the confirmation numbers and other information.  Among the information on the page was the way the charge would appear on the charge card.  Checking the card company's invoice, no charge by that name existed.  But there was a charge with a completely different label for about the right amount.  Calling the (866) number got us to a phone center in India.  Sure enough, the mis-labeled charge was the charge in question. The customer service person said that the amount will be refunded within 7 days.  We'll see.
Note that an immediate request for cancellation had been made, so the charge shouldn't even have appeared.  The site boasts a 7-day money-back guarantee.
I hope that someone, somewhere, will look into this site.  I was looking for some kind of complaint link at Google, but haven't found one yet.  The site appears not only in the search results, but they run an ad at the top of the Google search page - very visible.
Once again, I hope Adobe will take a look at this highly questionable site.

  • Good Movie Downloading Site?

i need a reliable way to download entire movies, any suggestions?

well, there are many ilegal ways of doing that, but i wouldn't even suggest any of those (since they are illegal and i don't do them). You can just do a search on google for "full movie downloads", and you will find a site that will let you do that for either a monthly fee, or just a one time fee.

  • Possible scam Flash Player download site.

While using Google search to find the download site for Adobe
Flash Player and entering "Free Flash Player" in the search box, I
was directed to this site >
    http://flashplayer.10-downloadcenter.com/index.asp?aff=103&camp=gg_flash_us&se=google
<, where I was asked for my name, e-mail address and then my
credit card information. Since I always understood that Flash
player is free, this site looks like it is a phishing scam to me.
    Is Adobe aware of it?

  • While trying to search something on google, Firefox tries to download my search

While trying to search something on google, Firefox tries to download my search as if i clicked on a download link to a program.
Although this does not happens all the time, it is frequent enough to become frustrated.
I have a screen shot if this if it is needed.

We've had past threads on this, but I need a little more info to find them. What is the name of the file that Firefox wants to save?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
This will open a dialog where you can remove your Google cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
