Got 2 iPads. One used by my wife and the other by me. How to keep contents like photos and contacts separate? Don't want to mix infos between the 2 devices. Is it possible to make sure that they don't sync together?

I stripped the old iPad (the one I gave my wife), so now she only has the contacts and photos "suitable" for her. When Iwoke up this morning my iphone and my new iPad had only the photos and contacts that I left her on her old iPad!! That really *****! I've lost all of my contacts and quite a few photos. Is there a way to restore the old settings here?

Are sharing an account with your wife?

Hold the power key on the keyboard down for 5 secs to power off, tap the power button once to start. It should connect automatically.

I am going to be traveling to China next week (from Canada) and I want to bring my iPhone to listen to music, read books and use for Wifi as well. However I don't want to use it for calls, browsing etc as I don't want to get charged roaming fees for these services.
Is there a way that I can make sure that this does not happen? I think that if I leave my phone on Airplane mode the whole time then I'll be fine and I can find Wifi wherever I am, but I just want to see if is this in fact correct or if there is anything else I can do instead.
As well, if I do end up taking my phone and taking out the cellular service when I'm in China, will I still be able to use iMessage to text people back home if I really have to?

Put the phone in Airplane mode...this turns off all iPhone radios...but, you can go back into settings & turn WiFi back on. You can then use iMessage.
No nasty surprises if you do that.

How is it possible to make sure that LV uses the same thread for several threadsafe DLL calls?

i have a thread safe DLL and most functions are called from serveral threads from the LV apllication without problems.
In case of an error i have to call an error handler function in this DLL (like WinAPI: GetLastError()) from the same thread which has called the function that failed before.
I can't use the user interface execution because some functions need a long execution time and i don't want to balk the user interface.
All other executions than the user interface execution have more than one thread and in most cases the DLL function calls were executed from different threads - so the error handling doesn't work...
Any idea?

Hmmm....
How about wrapping all of your dll calls in a single VI (or an Action Engine ) and make sure the VI's thread is NOT set for "Same as caller".
"Threadconfig.vi" (sp?) will also let you dictate the number of threads associated with an execution system. Set your target thread for "1".
Not sure on the above.
Please correct me if this is wrong!

If i want to change to a new ipad, how will my cloud content like photos and videos go to it?

I have a new iPad air, and i want to take the information and content from my old IPad 4 retinal and use it on the new one. I then want to clear this old iPad and give it to my children to use clear. I don't know how to get the downloaded information like pictures and videos from the existing cloud into my new Ipad. i wanted to confirm that these items will still be accessable before i totally reset my old ipad.

Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup on your old iPad and check the bottom of the screen under Back Up Now to confirm that you last iCloud backup was completed successfully. If it was, it will list the time/date of the backup. Assuming it was, to transfer the photos and other data to your new iPad, restore the backup of your old iPad to your new one. When you set up the new iPad, you will be given the option to Restore from iCloud Backup. Select this option and follow the prompts, choosing the backup of your old iPad to restore to the new one. Then be sure your iPad is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.
If you have already set up your new iPad, go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will allow you to set it up again, where you will get the option to restore your iCloud backup.
As you mentioned, be sure not to erase the old iPad before confirming that the information was successfully transferred to your new one.

If you head over to ifixit.com, you can check out their replacement guides for each of the items you feel needs replacing. The cost for the parts is listed there. It would be that cost + labor at an Apple store. I'm not sure if they would replace things that are cracked as that is cosmetic damage and doesn't affect how well (or poorly) the computer works. You would have to bring it to a store and ask.

Yes, many times. If you are setup to "extend a wireless network, the screen looks like this:
If you click the Wireless Options button, the screen looks like this:
Where is it on this screen that you see a setting to adjust the channel? It sounds like you are confusing "create a wireless network"....which does allow you to adjust channels.....with "exend a wireless network" which does not.
Normally, when you extend a wireless network, AirPort Utility used to always assign the same channel to the extending device. That is no longer the case. It might be the same, or it might be different. You have no control over this, so you have to accept what AirPort Utility thinks is best.

Having problems with Facebook on my ipad2. Updated operating system. Problem started before that and continues. Can't click on like or make comments. Sent email to Facebook. Their response was that they don't answer individual emails but read them. Sigh!

Facebook is basically broken, at least as far as it pertains to mobile browsers. THey changed something in their coding and now mobile browsers don't work with facebook. ANd their app, well their app has been less than stellar for a long time.
Unfortunately, it's up to facebook to fix things, not apple. All you can do is find work arounds. Look for third party apps, I have one called Facely HD which seems to work reasonably well (even though it does seem to not see all posts). There may be others that work better. You can also simply not access facebook on your mobile until they fix it.
It's all on them and users can only be patient or find other ways to work around it.
