You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

There is no supported method to "downgrade" iOS on any device. If you update, you will get the latest iOS for your device, which will be iOS 6.1.3. You cannot go backwards to iOS 4.3
If you have never backed up in either iCloud or iTunes, then upgrading to iOS 6.1.3 will involve restoring your device as part of the upgrade. Without a backup to restore from, you will loose everything that is on it.
You should first connect to iTunes with your computer, sync your device without upgrading and create an up to date backup of everything. Then use the upgrade option in iTunes to update your iOS.
However, if the dock device strictly requires iOS 4.3, it will not work, as you cannot downgrade iOS. There simply is no mechanism from Apple to do that. -
I found my old iPod that I haven't used since about 2010, and I no longer have the computer that the library was synced with. Is there any way to get my music off of it so that I can put it on my new iPod? The old one is a 30 GB from 2005.
CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

As far as deleting the songs, in a situation like this, you should restore the iPod which will delete the songs as well as allow you to sync your own music.

I still have my iPod nano 3rd generation, but my old computer crashed and I did not have itunes backed up. Is there a way to get the music from ipod to new computer library and then on to the new ipod ?
Save all the photos from your Droid into a folder on your computer.
Connect your device to your computer. On iTunes left Pane, select iPhone under 'Devices'; then on the right Pane, select PHOTO tab. Make sure Sync Photo box is checked, and "from" box selected the folder that has Droid's photos. Then click the SYNC or APPLY button on the lower right window. -

Check in your iTunes folder on your computer to find the files. If they are there, then drag on top of iTunes to import them in. If they are not there, then report the issue to the iTunes Store.

Is there a way to restore the All Contacts app on my gen 1 ipad? I seem to have lost the data and can't turn a page or add new contacts. I did try to reload the contacts (and I guess everything else) from my itunes computer backup but nothing happens to the All Contacts app. everything else seems to work fine on the ipad so I'm not sure what happened to the data or why. not sure i want to try and reset the whole ipad just for this one little app or feature...thanks in advance to any replies.
Sorry, had to sep out. I see the contacts "page" but I can't use the letters on the left margin or a finger touch to change location. Nor does anything happen when I touch the plus sign to allow me to add a new contact. So maybe he actual old contact data is still there I just can't get to it. Rick

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

I replaced the computer I originally used to synch my iPhone. When trying to update to iOS5.0, I get the message stating that my content will be erased, even though this is the computer I now synch my phone with. Is there a way to make the update recognize the new computer so that my content will be kept?
The best option is to copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527. This will allow iTunes on your new computer to recognize and sync with your phone without deleting content. You will also need to copy over any other synced data not in your iTunes library such as photos synced to your phone, calendars and contacts.

My mac, ipad and apple tv share the same itunes account. Why do movies rented from itunes on my ipad or mac not show up in my apple tv? is there a way to get them there?
Rentals are one-time only downloads, they will not show on other devices/computers for redownloading.

When using an external (ergonomic mouse) is there any way to get the wheel to scroll one full page at a time? Much appreciated.
I can't use the keyboard to scroll. I need to keep my hand on the mouse, otherwise I'd never get anything done. Since I have no problem getting Firefox to scroll one page at a time, and I'm constantly jumping between 3 browsers, it would be nice to be able to scroll a full page at a time in Safari, just like I can in Firefox. The method used in that post works perfect on both Android and iOS for selecting and uploading files.... BUT is there a way to get the filename of the file from the mediaPromise cross-plattform?
If you let the user select an image it's not very nice to have the image be called "temp.jpg" after uploading - you want the user to know which image he/her have uploaded
Any ideas? The "mediaPromise.file.relativePath()" works on Android but not on iOS. Not "mediaPromise["file"].url/relativePath/nativePath" either.

1. Let the user select the image
2. Store the mediaPromise object in an array (event.data) for later use
3. Load in the object using loadMediaPremise
4. Add the loaded image into a movieclip (not visible from the scene)
5. Resize that movieclip to let's say 100x100
6. Use the BitmapData class to create a new bitmap from that movieclip and save it to storage
7. Use the saved file within the app as a thumbail
8. Use the mediaPromise object stored in the array later when the user wants to upload the images (then go through mediaPromise.open() on each image -> save to storage -> upload -> clear from storage -> loop).
I haven't tried it yet (will do this week) but should that be a acceptable solution to the problem(?)
I'm unsure if by just keeping the mediaPromise object within Flash will make the memory run wild though? -

The user can select form1, select form1 again, select form4, and select form7 (or any other combination) and bring up tabs that display the different forms. The user can then enter data and submit each form separately. When the user selects File -> New -> FormX, a SWT ScrolledForm object that corresponds with FormX must be given to the display. Because SWT ScrolledForm objects do not allow a deep copy, I cannot simply read the XML <form> elements at initialization, parse them into ScrolledForm objects, and pass deep copies of the ScrolledForm objects to the display each time the user clicks File -> New -> FormX. The only simple way I see of getting a new copy of a ScrolledForm object is to reparse the appropriate XML <form> element in order to create one each time the user selects File -> New -> FormX. As such, one handler would need to read the entire XML document and parse the <form> elements into a map (or some other data structure) and another handler would need to parse individual <form> elements into SWT ScrolledForm objects. The first handler would be called at initialization and the second handler would be called each time a user clicked on File -> New -> FormX. Once again, this isn't exactly my favorite implementation... but seems the simplest given that there is no way to do a deep copy of an SWT ScrolledForm object. Hopefully that makes a little more sense. No worries if it doesn't -- I just figured I'd throw this out there and see if anyone had a better idea. -
