Got an exception in IE11 - 'This page can't be displayed' while accessing intranet website

Hi,
We have published an intranet portal website to our external customers.
Few of our website users occasionally get 'This page can't be displayed' exception while accessing our website. The HTTP request is in pending state for almost 10mins and then they get this exception. Ones they refresh - the page gets displayed
without any issue.
More details :
- These users are in different LAN than the LAN on which our web-server is hosted.
- They use IE11 on Windows 7 Operating system.
- This exception occurs occasionally and not able to reproduce consistently. But they get it once or twice when they continuously use the website.
- When the browser was waiting for the HTTP Response, there was no
HTTP Request logged in our web-server.
Below link is the network report capture when the exception happened using IE11 F12 Inspection add-on.
IE11 F12 Network report
Note: Earlier our users had accessed our website using IE8 and Windows XP. Now their system was upgraded to Windows7 and IE11. after which they face this issue.
We want to find - if this is a network issue or is it an issue with the browser / OS or totally something else.
When I searched in the net about this issue - some mentioned that this issue will not occur with Chrome or Firefox because they cache DNS and IE doesn't and relies on the OS to do the DNS caching (I am not clear about this).

Hello Robert,
Thanks to share  some Developing Tools to use to debug this issue.
As we tried to capture network traces through wireshark & founds no handshake called with some certificates from IE 11 else same certificate working in Firefox on same windows 7 PC  & for some certificate which also
created with same process and key algorithm/length working on both IE 11 & Mozilla Firefox

  • After installing CF10, I get this error msg,"This page can't be displayed"

After installing CF10, I get this error msg when I try to access the Administrator page,"This page can't be displayed"
I'm running Window Server 2003, 64 bit version with IIS 6.0.
    Before I installed CF10, I uninstalled CF8.

@Len said, “ BTW, there is no 64 Bit entry under Application Pools.”.
I suspect @Anit was assuming you were using IIS 7, in which case you could check the IIS app pool (advanced settings, for the app pool used by the site you are browsing) to see if it was set to “enable 32-bit applications: false”, assuming CF is configured as 64-bit, or if CF is configured 32-bit, then you would want that to be set to “enable 32 bit applications: true”.
It seems you’re using IIS 6, and there is no GUI means in the IIS 6 control panel to change the bitness of the app pool. There are various means discussing how to do that on the web, as well as a blog entry from Ben Forta, from back when people were deploying CF 7 (which was 32-bit only) 64-bit Windows and IIS:
    http://www.forta.com/blog/index.cfm/2006/2/6/connecting-coldfusion-mx-7-to-64bit-iis-6
For those on IIS 7, here is at least one page showing how to configure it in IIS 7 (has no reference to CF, but I had a hard time finding any existing blog entry that showed screenshots of configuring this feature):
    https://help.webcontrolcenter.com/KB/a1114/how-to-enable-32-bit-application-pool-iis-7-ded icatedvps.aspx
But back to your error, @Len, if setting the bitness of the IIS app pool is not the solution, I’ll note that there can be many other reasons that you get that error. What are you seeing in the Windows Event log (using “event viewer”), or the IIS logs (especially httperr.log), or the CF logs (\coldfusion10\cfusion\logs)?

I have checked all application pools, they are up and running
I have checked the database it is up and running
I have checked Event Viewer, I couldn't find any strange error or warning
I have checked the ULS logs, I couldn't find any error just som errors regarding Excel Services and Search Servcies which has no impact in this issue.
This server have been working before.
Thanks for your help and appreciate all kind of advice.

    Hello,
Have you recently installed any patch or CU? Also tell if there is any change in password of admin acc OR any configuration done for HTTPS site.
You can also try to run SP configuration wizard and see the result.

  • This page can't be displayed - Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 ** But TLS is already turned on.

I have a user that when they try to log into Duke Progress Energy's website at https://www.progress-energy.com/app/loginregistration/login.aspx it will redirect them to a "one time authentication" page which requires them to use a one-time key
to log in on a new computer.  When going to this one-time website (secure8.i-doxs.net) it will get an error message that says...
    This page can't be displayed
Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in the Advanced settings and try connecting to https://secure8.i-doxs.net again.  If this error persists, contact your site administrator.
Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO.  Restarting IE and rebooting did not help.  Chrome and Firefox both work flawlessly.
Edit: This is IE 11 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO.
Often such messages are just a default best guess of how to explain a problem symptom.  Have you checked that the message is properly reflecting the condition that was detected?  FWIW first I would use the Developer Tools to see
what the transaction (request and response) really is.  E.g. it may be that the host is sending an HTTP response code which might be interpreted the way that the message is showing.  Then the problem would be on the host to ask: why is it sending
that code.  Often the answer is that the host is just getting mixed up about the capabilities it assumes a browser has without having actually tested them.

  • This page can't be displayed

The other day I was having issues with pictures showing completely in my google chrome so I uninstalled it to see if it would fix the problem.  Now when I go into google to re-download google chrome it acts like it is going to down load by brining up a separate window and then I get the message "This page can't be displayed".  I'm getting the same thing when I try to open youtube.  I can get into other sites but these two.  How can I fix this to have my computer working properly?

  • This Page Can't Be Displayed on z580

For the last two days I've been getting an intermittent 'This page Cant Be Displayed page' when I try to access the web on my Z580. It doesn't happen all the time and if I click a new tab it may open up straight away while the other tab is still reading 'This Page Can't be Displayed'. Clicking 'Fix Connection Problems' almost always works although it says 'troubleshooting couldn't find the problem' and takes me to the page. According to our broadband provider our internet is fine and not all computers in the house have the problem. So I'd say I'm getting the can't display message 75% of the time. Amny ideas? Same on all browsers by the way. Windows 8.1

Not bad, it does look like there may be a bit of interference between your computer and your router.  It looks like you are running at about a -65dB so your wireless indicator is probably bouncing around 2 and 3 bars. You might be able to play around with the placement of the router and increase that. There are other things that can cause this problem, so it may be something you have to play with. For instance if you are using the 2.4GHz radios and your router is on a different level of your house, then the structure will cause this problem. The more walls and similar floor to ceiling furniture (large china hutch, bookcases, etc) will also cause the issue.
The next time you run into this issue again, run Wi-Fi Inspector and make sure that your signal strength is still as good as it is now. Also look for other signals from other routers. Also cordless phones , microwaves and other electronic devices can cause problems.

  • This page can't be displayed because your computer is currently offline - Wifi is connected, but cannot connect to the internet! :/

"This page can't be displayed because your computer is currently offline" - what exactly does that mean? I've gone through and repaired by hard drive, and there didn't seem to be a problem there. I've manually entered in an IP address several times...and I've checked that there are no proxies selected. Any suggestions or thoughts on what I could do?

    Here's a little background info:
Connection is to school wifi. I traveled out of the U.S. and connected to a university wifi - authenticated the 802.1x there...so - i've corrected that problem so far.
I've rebooted my computer several times, checked the hard drive for "damages."
I've made sure to have the correct username/password combinations.
As of right now, the 802.1x won't authenticate, but I don't think that's what's causing me to have an "offline connection"

    Have look in the deployment folder and sub folders;

  • The page can't be displayed error on most websites

Recently I've been experiencing difficulties with my web browser (Internet Explorer 10) in which it doesn't display most websites. It can do google.co.uk but not google.com. This also happens when I try it in Google Chrome, I get this error:
"We could not display the webpage because it took too long to respond."
    Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
I don't think this is to do with the router as I can use another device to connect to it and it works wirelessly, too. I forgot to mention this is a wireless network connection.
I also ran the Network Troubleshooter and it mentioned the network cable may be broken and damaged.
Could you please help me solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Temporarily take the Desktop PC to the other room, connect it directly to the modem/router & see if the behavior persists.
Doesn't matter if you're not seeing the behavior on other devices. The fact that the you're seeing the behavior when using IE10
and Chrome on the Desktop PC tells us that it's a networking
problem, not a browser problem. That's why I suggested posting in a
    networking-specific forum.
That being said, answer-by-number in your next reply:
    1. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [PICK ONE!] come preinstalled on the computer
when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)
    2. What Update Version & KB number are displayed in the second line of text in IE10's Help | About [Alt+H+A] tab; e.g., Update Version: 10.0.54 (KB1231231) ?
    3. Has
Windows 8.1 ever been offered to the computer via the Windows Store?
    4. Are you able to access your Outlook.com account via IE10?
~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows Client since 2002 Disclaimer: MS MVPs neither represent nor work for Microsoft
    1. McAfee free-trial
    2. 10.0.18 (KB2962872)
    3. Yes
    4. No, but I was able to before this problem.
Thanks for your continued support - hope this helped.

  • Page can not be Displayed in EBS R12 64bit - OEL 5.4 64bit

    Hi Hussein,
I have just installed EBS R12 (12.0.4) 64 bit on OEL 5.4 64bit, for our new client.
The installation was successfull in general, but as usual I hit with this "Page Can Not Be Displayed" error and the client side ie browser.
I can startup and shutdown the DbTier with status "0".
I can startup and shutdown the AppsTier with status "0" (well it shows this overall status at the end, but I see some error with "OHS")

  • Page can't be displayed

Since yesterday (07-may-2014) when I start any web application, even new created ones,
without any code added by myself from the VS development environment (Vb.net or C#) I get the next error.
IIS Express starts, the IE browser appears with the message "waiting for response from localhost...".
The mousepointer turns around and after a while I get the error:
    This page can't be displayed.
I use VS Express 2013 for web, Framework 4.5 on Windows 8.1.
I even tried to create a project in VS 2010 but the same error appears there as well.
Does anyone know how I can solve this problem?
    Thank you in Advance
    Robert de Miranda

Sorry I found the solution myself, the problem was caused because I enabled the "enhanced protection mode" in the advanced tab of internet explorer. I enabled this setting due to the security hole in IE of last week.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 OWA the page can't be displayed issue

OWA the page can't be displayed
Hi,  i've Exchange topology (upgraded from 2007 one server)
2 CAS servers NLB with VIP 172.16.0.98
2 MBX Servers DAG with DAG
using Cisco ASA NAT public IP for example 9.9.9.9 ....> 172.16.0.98
i've created split DNS zone for public domain in internal DNS to unify URLs internal and external Mail.Domain.Com
i've created internal zone called Mail.Domain.Com and Autodiscover.domain.com point to VIP 172.16.0.98
Everything is OK but sometimes users report when they access OWA from inside or outside when user submit user/ pass faced error  the page can't be displayed?
i tried this this user from different browsers and different computer the same issue
if i tried another user from the same computer it works fine
the strangest point after 30-60 minutes it backs to live and everything going fine
i checked event viewer there is nothing related to this issue.
in sometimes if i tried to access manual to CAS1.Domain.Local / IP address/ owa it works fine.
     URL changes to https://Mail.Domain.Com/owa/auth.owa
i red some about putting my public domain as remote domain but it's not clear !
    any ideas please?

If it works properly when connecting directly to the server, then something is misconfigured in the load balancer or something else in that data path.

    Thanks Ed,
NLB converged is OK. and all users are running well, except while this issue accrued.
i checked event viewer under exchange managed availability
