Got an iPhone 5. Gave my 4S to a family member. Problems ensued!
I got an iPhone 5 and gave my 4S to my nephew (nice right?). I did a "restore to original settings" on the 4S before I gave it to him and thought that was enough as my 5 was set up with the same phone # and working great! Once he started the 4S, I couldn't get into iTunes with my password. So it reset my password and noticed that the Apple ID that was displayed when I changed the password was not the one that was always displayed when I purchased something. So..I reset my Apple ID and my password.
Now....my iCould account won't work with the new password, when I try to purchase something, I get "Cannot access iTunes". So...I backed up the 5 and did a restore on the 5. Still doesn't recognize the new Apple ID or password. Even when i go into Settings. Plase help.
confirm that the apple id is the same account used for icloud. i say this because your icloud account could possibly be a different account.
if the accounts are the same then sign out of settings>itunes & app store and remove account from icloud. once you have doe this sign back into both but make sure the accounts are the same and you are using the same password.

Apple can fix it without your receipt or box. They pull the serial number from the device and determine warranty status from that. Hopefully ApplCare was registered to the product before you lost the receipt though. If not, you can go back to the point of purchase and obtain your AppleCare receipt and Apple can help attach it to the iPhone.

Create a second Apple ID for a separate iCloud account. You can still share the Apple ID for iTunes purchases, but separate for the cloud.

I believe when you plug her old iPhone in to your computer it will notify you that the phone is synced with another library and ask if you want to register it with your library. At least this is how iPods work. I'm not sure about iPhones. If you want to actually use the phone as your own you may need to go through AT&T.
If you're just looking to use the iPhone as an iPod (without the phone portion of it) you may run in to some problems. The iPhone really wants to be on a cell network all the time. I think you'd have to jailbreak it to get it to work properly as an iPod.

I got this iphone from a guy and everytime i tried to update the applications stored in this phone it keeps asking me the password that the guy used to use, even thou i created a new apple ID of my own and updated the account of icloud and everything in this iphone with the new apple ID, it still asks me the password of the account that the guy used to use whenever i tried to update the applications, and i cant find the guy who gave me this iphone...wt should i do???
Apps are permanently tied to the AppleID that downloaded them and cannot be transferred to another. Best thing to do is delete the apps and download those you want or need under your AppleID.

My brother got his iphone 4s stolen a week or two ago, he didnt have the iphone finder installed at the time. The phone company just gave him a new phone progammed with the same number is there any way of tracking his old phone? If this is relevant whenever i call him and hes on the phone the phone connects to someone else answering machine.
IF he set up find my ip[hone on the ihone itself BEFORE it was stolen ( there is no app, it is a setting) AND it is on AND it has jot been restored, then you may be able to track it using icloud/find my iphone.
Otherwise, there is no way to track it. -
When I first got my iphone i plugged it into my friends computer and added songs from their itunes. Now when i plug it into my computer it will not connect or show up in the sidebar in itunes. I have already tried factory resetting the phone and 'authorizing this computer' in itunes. Can anyone help?

Ok, so just put into DFU Mode and connect it to your computer. Open Itunes an it will say that you need to restore. Click ok then follow the instructions.

offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If your iPhone is locked to an AppleID that you do not know, return it for
a refund as it is useless. Only the person whose AppleID was used for
activation can remove the lock. There is no workaround for Activation Lock.
