Got iLife '08 preinstalled, how do I re-install iMovie?

This is the window I get when I try and open up iMovie...
"Missing QuickTime Components
The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer, please re-install."

That'd slipped my mind, sorry. The additional software that came with your iBook including iLife will all be on the supplied 10.3 disks though, albeit, obviously, the versions that were current at the time.
I'd still ask for 10.4 disk though.

iMovie was working well but recently it fails to share movie to file.
I thought I'd try to reinstall it but App store just says "installed" even if I put iMovie in trash before trying to in stall.

I'd suggest a fresh reinstall of iMovie then. Delete the Application and re-download from the Mac App Store. You should see something like this:

I purchased my iMac in August 2011. It came pre-installed with iMovie and other iLife applications. Recently I have had some issues with iMovie (it crashes on start-up) and i came to the conclusion to try a re-install.
However as it was pre-installed and no disks were provided i'm a little confused how, without purchasing it again in the Mac App store. I have looked in the Mac App store in Purchases and iMovie or no other iLife apps appear there. So i know if i purchase it again i will be charged.
Can any one help - or has had this problem in the past?
Note: I am running Moutain Lion now but when it was purchased it had Snow Lepoard installed and as soon as I booted it up i installed Lion as i was given a free copy by Apple when i bought the Mac. If this helps anything.

I live in the UK and i have called apple support but it is all automated and as i don't have apple care they said that i would need to open an incident which would cost £35. iMovie on the Mac App store is only £10.50!
do you know of another way of contacting them for an issue like this? is there anyone i can speak to on an online chat?

How do I re-install Imovie

My new Imovie is acting very strange. It doesn't let me move events to an external hd and worse, the content library (transitions, titles etc) has disappeared.
Do I just delete it from my app folder or do I get rid of fhe library in the movies folder? Will I lose everything I imported already??
Also, can I use USB2 to export to a external HD or do I need only firewire?

How can I re-install iMovie?

My iMovie was spasing out like crazy, I use it everyday and one day it just went crazy. So I removed it from my computer and THOUGHT I could just re-install it from the App Store but when I tried to "accept" it said These apps cannot be accepted on this computer. Why is that??? I don't have the disc that my mac came with because I just moved and have no idea where it would be. I have searched all over the internet and found that nothing that helps. Please somebody help!!! I make Youtube videos and NEED my iMovie!

I have the original iLife '06 and am having a problem installing iMovie '06 on my iMac 3.06, 2GB, running Mac OSX 10.5.8. I thought I had installed it, but when I booted it, this message popped up. "You cannot open the application “iMovie HD” because it is not supported on this architecture". I tried to install it again, using the "custom" install, but the name is gray and it cannot be selected. Could someone state the step by step installation instructions. I must be missing something.

I tried the easy way as suggested by Silly rabbit and installed iMovie '06, but it altered iDVD, and now iDVD will not launch. The way I did it was: 1. booted the iLife '06 installation disk; 2. Moved iMovie '09 and iMovie '08 to the desktop; 3. Selected iMovie '06 from the "Custom" install option; 4. and clicked "Install". While iMovie '06 installing, I saw the iDVD icon flash a few times. After installation, I moved iMovie '09 and '08 back into the application folder and all three iMovie programs booted up, but iDVD did not. Help!

I am an Aperture user and I am tired of managing my old iphoto library seperately. In order to use the new combined aperture/iphoto abilities i need a newer version of iphoto. Apple says that the new iphoto is free, however my iphoto (version 8.1.2) did not update. How do i update iphoto so that i can use the library with Aperture?

iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband are free. However, you must be running Mavericks in order to download and use them. Mavericks is free also. Therefore your Mac must be capable of running Mavericks:

iWork is not as it's an upgrade and not an update. Upgrades for iWork have always had to be purchased. However, the previous iWork apps will work fine with Mavericks.

Check the songs are really not in the Music section of the library by clicking the magnifying glass in the search box and unticking Search Entire Library if it is ticked, then typing in the name of the album. If the tracks still don't show try closing iTunes and deleting a hidden file called sentinel from inside your iTunes folder. This should make iTunes run an integrity check on the database when you start it again. Make sure the tracks are checked before you try syncing again.

Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
Navigate to the Music folder. On my 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\NAME of IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music
Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
And you're done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized."

Contacts are not a part of back up.
Contacts are sync with a compatible programme on your computer depending on your operating system (Windows or Mac). For example, Microsoft Outlook (for both Windows and Mac), Windows Contacts (for Windows) and Addressbook (for Mac).
Or contacts are also backed up in iCloud (depending if you chose to do so).
So, sync back the contacts from any of these programmes. If you have not made a backup of your contacts in any of these progammes, then they are gone.

Gary116 please remove and reinstall Lightroom by following the steps listed in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed. The version of Photoshop Lightroom available through the Creative Cloud Desktop application supports your Creative Cloud Membership.
