Got Mine

I got my iphone4 today. No phone call to set up an appointment. I kust showed up and if they didn't have it at leaset they were goinhave to tell me to my face. They had mine and lots of others. I didn't ask but from the attitudes of everyone i assume they got all their pre-orders except the white one. Now there was a problem that ATT caused but the Best Buy rep handled it very professionally even though it took an hour and a half. So if you didn't get a call and are wondering my advice is to show up. Your luck may be work out as well as mine though but I hope this is encouraging to some. By the way my store was JAcksonville FL.

Hello from Florida... just got mine. First through door and first with one in hand. Loves it!!!

    KarenHimmel,
iMovie ’11 is not programmed to come with all Macs — it didn’t come with my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro.
Presuming that your Mac is newer than mine, have you checked to see if you can download iMovie ’11 gratis from the Mac App Store?

  • I got mine today....

Yes I got mine today, but not from Best Buy... After going to a few BB locations, it appeared to me that no one knew when they can expect inventory. What was also evident was how confused the reps were of the issue. I know that they are left out of the loop and really dont know, but in my opinion no matter what the issue is "I dont know" is never an acceptible answer, especially in a customer service type field.
I went to a local Apple store and they had plenty in stock (no white though).
It is in my opinion that either BB underestimated the demand, or really dropped the ball on this launch.

Well, I agree with much of your post.  Our company was kept mostly out of the loop from Apple.  I am happy you finally got an iPhone 4, even if it wasn't from us.
Rest assured, this feedback has been heard loud and clear (mostly because of this community) and the appropriate leaders are already aware.
    Thanks for posting!

For IMAP mail like Gmail, you can use the Edit button to create new folder. It doesn't work for POP mail.

  • Got Mine.  Two Questions

Love the 2.0 and 3G. Here are my questions:
Anyone got push calendar/contacts working like it should? Mine's set up with MobileMe and it does sync over the air, but it's not Pushing automatically. If I tell my MBP to sync .Mac (not saying MobileMe yet), it will pull in whatever I put in the iPhone, but I am having to trigger the sync.
    Second question:
Anyone figure out a way to SEND email from a non-me.com or mac.com email address in MobileMe? Or even provide a "reply to" address that's not me.com or mac.com? I was hoping to be able to use MobileMe to send emails where the recipient only saw my business email address and not me.com. Doesn't look like it can be done, which is a shame.

. The face plate has changed, presumably for international markets where people don't speak English.
    2. The player will be charged in a maximum of 4 hours. The way to tell its charged is once the charging icon and glow stop, wait another 30 minutes for the final slow charge, then it will be ready.
You don't need to update with two different firmware updates, you can go straight to an update without one beforehand.
The .0.03 update fixes a battery charging bug, if you don't have this already, but allows the player to stay accessible with MediaSource.
The v2 updates give the player MTP access (driverless access with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 0). Be warned though, some people have had stability problems with both the connection and software after this upgrade.

  • Got mine today...any tips?

Well, I got my MBP today, on a fluke. I went by my University bookstore and low and behold, they had MPB's in stock. I about fainted right there. Since I am a law student, I get the student discount, so I went for the 2.16/100/2MB RAM.
I have not opened it yet becuase I have a paper due tomorrow. (Yes, it's agony waiting...) Are there any tips, suggestions, etc. that I should know before booting up and transferring files? I'm a recent Mac convert, so I don't know all the ropes yet....
Bob, it looks like we have the same configuerations, so I hope mine works as well as yours.
    Thanks in advance...

    There's no accounting for taste.
(Sorry, I couldn't resist: I'm a K-State grad. KU is a great school for law and medicine.)

  • Please help.. me and my hubby both have the iphone 4 and use the same email address and itunes account. I got mine yesterday and activated it to find all my husbands contacts on my phone. I deleted them and he lost all his contacts. How can we stop this !

    Hy please help...
My husband purchased  an iphone at xmas and evrything was fine until i purchased 1 yesterday . We both use the same email address which is linked to our itunes account (ithink) I registered mine yesterday and all my husbands contacts came on to my phone, so i deleted them and he lost them all on his phone :-( now if he adds or deletes anything i get it or the other way round please please help

If you are saying that you both have iCloud accounts and use the same icloud ID, then yes, the contacts will be deleted.  The idea is that all devices using the same icloud ID are kept in sync.  You need to use different IDs.  You can keep the same iTunes ID so you can share the songs and apps.  But use different icloud IDs.

  • For those who are impatient for the Iphone 5 delivery. I got mine and didn't wait..

If you are impatient and want the iphone 5 in your hand the very next day, I suggest going to the apple site and place an order for in store pickup. Originally I placed my order with verizon and had a 3-4 week wait. Then I decided to cancel the verizon order and I got myself one the very next day and didn't have to wait for long delivery dates. Here is how I did it:
    1) Go to http://www.apple.com/retail/iphone/
    2) Notice the message "iPhone 5 is available in limited quantities. Buy it at your favorite Apple Retail Store or choose in-store pickup when you buy online between 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m."
    3) I have noticed that by the time you fill out the form information at 10pm, the iphone 5's are out of stock at your local store in probably 5 minutes. So they sell out really fast. So what I did to bypass the form was to login with my appleid and pre-fill the form around 9:30pm and SAVE it to the cart.
    4) At this point, I needed to know exactly what store I wanted to pick it up from. I chose 3 stores around my area in order of preference in case if one didn't have it in stock I could move on to the next without wasting any time thinking about it at the time of checkout. When 9:55pm rolls around, I logged into my saved cart and checked out picking the store I wanted.
    5) Then entered my payment information and picked it up the next day.
The only disadvantage to this approach was you may not get your preferred store, but this didn't bother me too much as I didn't want to wait 4 weeks for my phone. I hope this helps some people. If there are questions, I will try to answer.. Good luck to those still waiting!!

Go to the link I provided and click on "Check upgrade eligibility"

  • New mac mini? I only got mine 2 months ago

I just bought my mac mini in mid April. does anyone know if I can change it to the new upgraded version? I also have the applecare protection plan if that makes any difference.
    Thanks

    No, you can't.
Would be quite illogical if you could as well. That would completely remove the logic behind Apple's secrecy-policy.
Also, you can't (for example) swap your two month old (and thus used) car if a newer model is brought to market...
You can of course always sell your Mac Mini and buy the newer one... Bear in mind that the newer Mac Mini is also more expensive than the old one was.

  • Got mine today-headphone socket broken and can't download itunes 9!

As the title says, got my 5th gen nano today, the headphones plug has to be wiggled to get any sound and I can't seem to download itunes 9 - if i get the nano replaced in the morning will it work with itunes 8?
    Thanks,

I'm not sure about everyone else, but when I plugged my 5th gen into the computer for the first time, I got a message saying 'This device will not work with your version of iTunes, please upgrade to the latest version' -Or something to that effect. I had iTunes 8 and I would have preferred to stay with it, but I was forced to get 9 Oh well...
So to answer your question, a new 5th gen Nano most likely will -not- work with iTunes 8.

  • Got mini, and was trying to download old purchases but it timed out and they are all just sitting there, how do I cancel the downloads?

I got it all synced byt just connecting to my computer instead.

    Quit iTunes.
    Delete /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
Restart iTunes and see if the *Show at startup box* is at the lower left of the tutorial window.
    If so, uncheck it.

  • I Finally Got mine to work!

I just got a brand new Nano and installed the latest version of itunes (7.5) and had many of the problems encountered by other users. On connecting the ipod to my computer, itunes started up ok, auto synced my ipod and then appeared to function fine. I could not however sync any new playlists or tracks from that point on as i got the message "XXXXipod could not be synced, required disc not found". i couldnt do a restore as i got the same message. i couldnt manually manage tracks, or apply any changes i wanted to make such as tell the ipod not to auto sync, or to only sync checked items as of course there was no more communication. Each time the computer told me it was syncing for 3 or 4 minutes before popping that message up. i ended snatching the ipod out in frustration and cursing myself for finally giving in to ipod and itunes. I did the 5 r's with no success. Finally i uninstalled itunes 7.5, and deleted the itunes folder in "my music". searched the internet for itunes 7.4.2.4 downloaded and installed it, and it worked. i can now tell my ipod what to do. I dont offer this as any form of fix. i simply advise this is what i did and it worked. i was not keen on altering my computers registry, or changing some of the more intricate settings as i dont know enough to undo it if it breaks something else. I did try one of the support centres tips and thats exactly what happened.
I think that itunes software is pathetic. apple have really got to get organised before doing this in future. i will wait for a version of itunes that doesnt have so many support forums dedicated to it. i am sure somebody at apple is monitoring these forums and is hanging their head in shame at the sheer volume of complaints.

I wanted to add that you could use VLC to just watch the movie, but I wanted to be able to do it all from my couch/harmony remote from within Front Row. VLC and Apple's DVD Player will play AC3 just fine without jumping through so many hoops. This is potential solution for people that want to use ripped videos w/AC3 inside of iTunes and Front Row.
I had to throw that in there to beat those people to the punch that just go to each video related posting and sing the praises of VLC. I like VLC, but it is not the answer to every situation.
To my knowledge the method created here will not make movies that are playable on an iPod or AppleTV, but would be with a few minor differences that have been covered in many other posts.

  • Got mine today!!!

Just wanted to say hi to everyone.
Picked up my Macbook Air today. Just got in. Have it charging now. Tomorrow will be a fun day of play!!!

    Congratulations, I'm so jealous!
My wife and I just got back from a visit to an Apple store where we got to play with one. Actually my second time, her first. Almost wish something would happen to one of our books so we could consider one, knock on wood.

  • Got mine through apple store app

after trying 4-5 times before lunch yesterday, i read that the new app may be cause of problems. So at about 2:00 (central time) I downloaded it, went to reserve icon, placed order and got confirmation email in less than 2 minutes (all over the edge network to boot). Told co-workers after and they tried, only to get "app isn't taking orders at this time, got to apple website for now message"....weird.
pretty psyched to get iphone4, and really wasn't too hard despite the online problems.

Same thing happened to me. Used the app and entered my info (cell no zip code last four of ss). Didn't get any kind of confirmation in the app that my order was placed but got the email. I'm thinking that the fine print is just Apple covering their butt in case something happens (natural disaster, launch delayed, etc). I thought a reservation is just that - a phone is held and reserved for you. Is that the way it worked for previous launches of iPhone and the iPad? I am assuming that I can get the 199 price at the store when I pick it up
