    Well finally I got the free bumper; great it feels so good and really protects the phone... however non of my non-Apple 30 pin cables work with this bumper installed. Do you know if Apple has a 30 pin M-F adapter that I can buy to resolve this problem? Thanks.

    Dear me, that would be nice. Except that my iPhone4 came with a single cable, and I keep a cable in my car, my kitchen, my bedroom, my home office, and my suitcase, plus one at my work office.
    So the options are to carry around a single cable all the time, which is massively inconvenient, or spend $30 each on Apple-branded cables (sending the current cables to the landfill), or to constantly take the case on and off, cursing Apple each time I do so for changing the specs on the cases by an unnecessary millimeter.
    More people seem to be choosing to take a drill/file to the case and expand the port a bit.

  • Is anyone else having trouble tracking their free bumper shipment?

    For some reason, I am having the worst time trying to track my free bumper shipment. I got the shipment confirmation e-mail from Apple on 7/30 with an estimated delivery date of 8/6. For the first two days, I got no information when I clicked on the DHL or USPS tracking numbers. Then, on about 8/2, it finally updated to MANIFESTED on 7/30 in Millington, TN. It has since been updating about 24-48 hrs behind, and the estimated delivery date is now 8/9!
    Anyway, now it looks like it's saying it left the Atlanta, GA area on 8/4. I figured I'd get it today since I live in the panhandle of FL 10 miles south of the GA border (about a 4.5 hr drive from Atlanta).
    Out of curiosity, I called DHL this morning. They said it was handed over to the USPS this morning, and I should get in midweek next week! The rep didn't really seem to care when I told her that on-line it says it was a 5 hr ride away, but I had called because the on-line tracking was updating 24-48 hrs behind. So, I didn't want to start anything - I just figured I'd call the USPS! Their automated system says they have no record of the package...ok...so I dialed "0" to speak to a rep, and it told me that "our automated tracking system is up to date, so the option of speaking to a rep is not available at this time!" WHAT?!?!? The USPS tracking website is even more behind the DHL site, but at least there is a record of it there! Here's what I have:

    To me, it looks like the information infers that the package was handed off to USPS on 8/3!
    Anybody else with this problem? For anyone who has already received their free bumper, how long did it take after the shipping e-mail from Apple for it to arrive?
    Any advice on how to actually speak to someone at the USPS?

    I would say frustrated, not furious, but impatient, no. I ordered a case before the free case program about a month ago and THAT still hasn't shipped, lol! I already took one business trip with the phone and dropped it quite a few times (lol) and didn't even really get frustrated, but I am about to take another business trip that I leave for on Sunday, so I was beyond thrilled that my bumper was shipping early and scheduled right before I left for my next trip.

I wasn't frustrated at all prior to this morning. I was extatic, actually! Not even frustrated about it possibly coming late, just that nothing can definitively tell me if that is the case right now, lol!

  • Apple's Free Bumper Program is lagging!

    So I got my iPhone 4 a few days ago, and yesterday I downloaded the free bumper program app. However, when I received my confirmation e-mail it said it is estimated to ship by August 27 and deliver by Sept 1. Did anyone else get a different date?

    It probably takes a while to manufacture and distribute a few million of them.
    Typically, Apple products ship before the promised date so have hope!

    Hi all
    Steve Job offers FREE BUMPER($1.00 cost for them)/$30.00 cost for us, now for free.
    I call them today, they say come back to website sometime next week to file out FORM, then they will ship out free bumper. For whom who already buy a bumper will get their refund and have to fill the form too.
    Anyway, it's CHEAP SOLUTION:))

    If you're not happy with what Apple is offering Hopsing, you can always return your phone within 30 days.

  • Possible to exchange the free bumper/case?

    I'm receiving a Griffin Etch ($30 value) from the free bumper/case program. My question is if it is possible to take this, along with the receipt, into an Apple store and exchange it for a case of the same or lower value? I'm looking for a slider sleeve, but the Etch was the best that was offered to me via the free case program.

    I was wondering the same thing. My wife and I bought new iPhones together. I got the Bumper and she got the clear case. Now she wants the bumper instead. I doubt we will be able to exchange them, but I am interested.

    Ordered on Friday as soon as I saw the link was up and got an e-mail today saying it's been dispatched and will be with me in 3 working days.
    Certainly less than the 3-5 weeks they stated when I ordered it
    (Don't really need it, but it's free so I might as well have one eh?)

    Just for what it's worth:
    So I click report so that I can see the details, and the whole thing goes away.
    It's probably not all that obvious - I've seen a couple of people confused by this lately - but that "report" button isn't meant to show you a report. It sends a report of the crash and any related details to Apple for their general information. As far as I know, it's not something they'll ever respond to you about, either - it's just for them to compile information about the causes of crashes, so they can work to prevent such crashes in future Mac OS development.

    I notice it does say "Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple." In my experience, it never does the former...

    It reboots it but unplugging can also rectify communication issues like this. A restore would be the next step.

    if your SSD is only 60 GBs, then you don't have space on which to install Windows. That 27 GBs is space you need to have for adding files you create, music you download, added applications, pictures, etc. You need to maintain at least 10 GBs as free space for OS X, plus you need space for files OS X will create and add to over time.
    Your 60 GB SSD is just a minimum usable size for OS X. There isn't sufficient space to also support Windows which requires close to 25 GBs of the 27 GBs you still have free. Sorry, but that just doesn't really work well.

    Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes, 11.1.4 on your computer. If you recently updated, there have been some issues with the latest verison of iTunes and Windows. You can remove and reinstall iTunes and it normally fixes the problem. See this support document and follow the steps exactly. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

  • I got an iPhone 5 today and the apps I had backed up on cloud will open for a second then close. I have shut down and restarted, added another app to sign in to itunes and then manually added each app but it hasn't worked yet. Help!

    I got an iphone 5 today and tried to sync to the cloud with the apps from my iphone 4. Syncing happended but I cannot open an app on my new iphone 5 for more than second then it closes. I have restarted the phone, added a new app that required my itunes password and manually added each app. None helped. Can you help me?

    I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) 3 days ago, I had a terrible experience as the genious who gave me my solid state disk for safekeeping lost my disk's brackets thus I had to wait 2 more hours until they find one after 10 days of waiting for the repair. I noticed some weird sounds, like somehting is moving with the mac 1-2 times, even if I have no mechanical parts other than the fans, but my real issue at the moment is that my microphone is not working. I can see the mic in the System Info however and in Audio Midi Setup. In the Audio Midi Setup I see that the master chanel is turned off and I can't turn in on. Ch 1 and 2 are on full. I also noticed the first seconds after the comp. boots the blue bar goes to the middle in the System Preferences -> Sound -> Input. Any ideas what to do or try? I do not want to go back to the apple store as it is 50 minutes away from here and I need my laptop as a computer science student. Everything else is working perfectly.

    You need to call both the store that did the repair and Apple directly, warranty service or Apple care, and report this problem with both of them and get a ticket number of some kind (some kind of verification number) that the unit just came back from major service with this problem and that you want it fixed when you can lose the use of it, which is not right now.
    Without doing something like that they could easily say it is damage not covered under the normal warranty.
    God knows what the repair center did and did not do to it while it was there.
    And depending on when you actually bought it the warranty could run out in the mean time.

    You can email Apple for help but the link is for the iTunes store not the Mac App Store. You've inadvertently poasted in the Using Mac App Store forum but that's ok. Billing issues are the same for the iTunes Store.

    It's a trust issue. You can set them up so you don't receive each other's messages as long as you each have your own email address.
    The trust issue is the fact that either of you can change the separation at any time via Settings by checking the appropriate (inappropriate?) email address.
    To be absolutely sure you can never receive each other's messages will require two Apple IDs.
