Got my wife a iphone for xmas

I already own and iphone and love it. I bought one for my wife and i have a few questions before she gets it on the 25th. She currently uses a PC but i want her the use the mac to sync her phone, so i set up a users account with her name. Now all our music and photos are on my account but i set them up to be shared when she logs on. However, she cant create itunes playlists or iphoto albums unless she loads them into her library. Is this gonna put 2 copies of all songs and pics on my hard drive or does Leopard just need a location to get the file?

In that case, no. iPhoto 08 keeps all the photos in a special file. You won't have multiple copies, per se, but you will have 2 instances of that file on your system.
The size shouldn't be an issue, though.

Not sure why only one particular phone is having this problem but this article will help you check and restart it if it's in fact not started: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567.  Even if it is running, suggest you stop and restart it.

  • I have an iPhone and sync it with iTunes.  Just got my wife an iPhone also.  Is it possible to have 2 accounts in iTunes 1 for my wife and 1 for myself?  I don't want to mess up things like contacts on either phone.

The best is to create another Windows user profile(additional User Account) where each one of you can manage your own account, library, playlist Apps, Contacts etc,

  • I got this iphone for xmas and i want to get service for it without having a contract can i do thhat

I got this iphone for xmas and I want to get it acctivated. But I dont wanna have a contract. can I do that?

It many places, including the US, Yes.
Here is a list of supported carriers: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937
Talk to one in your country and see what's available.
In the US, AT&T is the only supported GSM carrier. They will not allow you to use pre-paid plans on the iPhone, but they do have post paid plans that are strictly month to month and can be cancelled at any time.

  • I bought my wife an ipad for xmas and the machine is faulty the apple authorised dealer admitted it was faulty and wants to replace my new machine with a factory refurbished unit. I told them that i will only accept a new one? am i right?

i bought my wife an ipad retina for xmas and the machine is faulty, it keeps on switching off. the apple authorised dealer admitted it was faulty and wants to replace my new machine with a factory refurbished unit. I told them that i will only accept a new one as it is only a few weeks old and had the problem from the begining? is it correct that apple replaces new defective products with factory refurbished one? I have used apple products most of my life from mac 2 to G5. I had over a dozen apple machines and never had a problem so far? I do not believe this is right..

In the EU there is also a mandatory two year warranty by european union law. I am not a lawyer but i never signed or agreed to any apple policy at the time of purchase, i was told you have a two year guarantee bring it back if anything goes wrong which i did and now i am being quoted all sorts of policies. my own policy is that if you buy new you get new, with no excuses.  I feel a bit cheated by apple if i have to compromise with a second hand unit. the unit is not even a month old and we took it to the original store a couple of weeks after it was bought and they sent us to take it to a servicing dept in another town. I am an apple fan and expect excellent service like the products themselves.
No one ever does sign anything - the purchase itself, where you exchange money for the product, is your de facto agreement to all warranties and policies set forth by both the seller and the OEM supplier.  That's a pretty firmly established principle of consumer law (image the nightmare if you had to read and sign to such things every time you purchased anything or everything?).
You can complain to the store or to Apple about it if you wish.

  • New to Apple - Need help.  Here is the breakdown. I just got my wife a iPhone 4s and I'm trying to decide how to set it up. Should she get her own Apple ID or use mine? This for some reason is very confusing to me.

Here is the breakdown.  I just bought my wife a new iPhone 4s and I'm trying to decide how to set it up for her.  Should she have her own Apple ID or use mine?  If she uses my Apple ID, will that cause issues with iMessage - say when I'm chatting with someone else and vice a versa. Will our messages show up on each others devices?  How will a FaceTime call work?  Will the video call come across both our devices (ipad also)?
Just some information that might be of note:
I have the new iPhone 4s, iPad2 and one iTunes account - the iTunes account is my Apple ID which I use also for the iCloud (I think...it's getting murky
What am I trying to achieve is having the ability for me (iphone, ipad) and my wife (iphone) to be able to share and sync just music, apps, movies, etc...  I have Google Calender and I have not made up my mind yet if we will share a contacts list (I have large business list).  Also this might be of note, I most likely will be using iTunes on my LG LCD TV (appleTV) at some point in the near future.
So, basically I'm confused, which is not unusual for me.  If I'm thinking to much inside the box, please let me know and feel free to offer up any suggestions.  Even if the suggestion is I'm not asking the right questions.  Of course if that is your suggestion, then please tell me the question.  And an answer would be nice to.
    Thanks.

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • I bought my wife a 5c for xmas and set it up under my itunes id. She didn't have one. Every so oftem my ID still shows up under different aps. I set her up an apple id now and want to reset everything to her ID. How do I do it and keep the apps?

How do I switch this phone over to my Wifes new Apple ID and keep the phone lists,, apps etc that I set up? (unlocked) New

You must first go to your Apple ID and take the device off of your listed devices and then wait until it is updated accordingly ...Next link the iPhone to her Apple ID.  go to the app store and on to 'featured' scroll down to the bottom and it shows your apple id, click it and sign out and you can then sign in with your new apple id
If you mean your iCloud ID, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.  If you are signing back into the same account, just with a renamed ID, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted.  Your data will be synced back when you sign back in.  However, if you are changing to a new account with a new ID and need to migrate your synced data to the new account, choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then choose Merge to upload your data to the new account when you sign back in and turn on your iCloud data syncing.
If you want to keep your photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Sae to Camera Roll).

  • My husband got me a 4G Nano for Xmas - refurbished...

The problem is that it's replacing my old ipod which had 10G - so out of the box, it's already way too small :(((((. Anyone know if I can exchange it? Do I have any options? I'm so disappointed. Thanks!

You can contact the iTunes Store (if that is where he got it) about returning it.
Or, do you have to have all your music on your iPod all the time? Create playlists and rotate your music.

  • I got a Nano 7th Gen for Xmas.  It keeps teling me there is nothing in my Library to sync, even though I'm staring at my full library.

Before you ask, Yes I have selected "Sync Music", Yes the music is selected for syncing, Yes I've hit Apply, Yes I've downloaded the newest version of Itunes, and Yes the computer is authorized.  This isn't my first Ipod.
My computer runs Windows 8, and I've also tried running the compatibility test and changing the compatibility to Windows 7 and Windows XP; still have the same problem no matter which mode it runs in.
The Ipod Tab shows up just fine; it just says there's nothing to sync.

The only way to backup non-Tunes purchases to iCloud it to subscribe to iTunes Match.
The message you are getting means that iTunes can't find the actual music files.
    You can:
    - iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
    - You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I just got a macbook air for xmas- now i wont get texts on my iPhone. they go right to my laptop. how can i get the texts to go to BOTH devices?

My hubby just got me a macbook air for Xmas which is awesome.  Set it up to be able to ichat on it as well as on my iphone.  Only now i wont get texts on my iphone- ONLY on my laptop.  How can i configure so that I can get texts on my computer AND my phone. NOT just one or the other? Please help!

    Hi,
The Mac version will use your Apple ID as the first and only choice...
... Until you add the same Apple ID to Messages on the iPhone.
Once this is done it is best to Restart the app on the Mac.
This will then get at least one, possibly two pop up saying the iPhone in using the Apple ID and the iPhone Number.
Accepting these Pop ups will enable the iPhone as an ID to be used in the Receive At List.
It will also appear in the drop down at the bottom for "Start New Conversations from"
If you did not set iyt up like this then remove the apple ID from the iPhone in the Settings > Messages.
Place the iPhone in Airplane mode to break with the server.
Take it out of Airplane Mode and re-add the Apple ID in the Messages settings.
Then Restart the app on the Mac as above.
Having done this you can still turn Off the Apple ID on the iPhone (receive as the iPhone number only) or disable the iPhone Number on the Mac (receive Apple ID stuff only)
The Start New Conversations option on the Mac version means you could use the iPhone number so people don't get your email.

  • Have iphone 4. Got new iHome clock for xmas. Won't fit dock with cover on. Any ideas how to get it to fit without taking case off phone?

Have an iPhone 4.  Put it in a protective case.  Got iHome clock/docking station for xmas.  Can't set the iPhone in the docking station with the cover on.  Don't want to take the cover off every night if there's a way around it.  Is there such a thing as a small extension to the dock or iPhone to get past the thickness of the case?

There sure is.  Go to the following link for a dock extender:

I have an iphone 4s just got the nano 6th generation for xmas can i use my iphone charger to charge the nano?

Yes, you can. The iPhone 4S and 6th generation iPod nano use the same 30-pin charger, unlike the new Lightning charger used by the iPhone 5 and 7th generation iPod nano.

  • HT204053 If I have an apple ID for myself and my wife has just got a iPhone for the first time how can she get the same apps as I have for my iPhone and iPad

If I have an apple ID for myself and my wife has just got a iPhone for the first time how can she get the same apps as I have for my iPhone and iPad by getting it off my iCloud?

She can't from iCloud without setting up your iCloud account on her phone. But just sync the same apps from your iTunes Library on your computer to her phone.
Your wife should setup her own iCloud account - which is separate to the iTunes Store accounts.
