Got my Zen Vision M: to work but

Hey everyone,
I got the Zen Vision:M 30gb last Friday and after some trial-and-error I finally got the mp3 player to work. I have some questions and I'm hoping you guys can answer them.
When I first plugged in my mp3 player to my PC it wouldn't turn on (I didn't realize I had to wait a while to let it charge for a bit). Out of confusion, I hit the "reset" button a few times (which by the way didn't do anything, haha). Will this affect the performance of my Zen over time at all?
I also plugged and unplugged my Zen player several times because I was wondering why my computer wouldn't detect it. At one point, the device's screen finally turned on, but I still couldn't get my PC to detect it... so I once again unplugged and (re)plugged the cable. My main concern here is whether doing this will have any short or long-term detrimental effect on my battery? I hear this shouldn't be a problem on lithium(?) batteries, but I thought I'd just make sure here! Also, any tips you guys recommend on how to make best use out of my battery?
Finally, here's a noob question: can I copy/paste my songs to my mp3 player directly via Windows Explorer rather than using any kind of software?
Thanks for taking the time to read this! And I deeply apologize for my computer illiteracy!

i was on a trip and one of my hair products got on my ipod touch everything works but the front camera can i fix the front camera?

Did the iPod get wet by the hair product and probably cause a problem due to the liquid or is there some thing on the front camera lens that prevents the camera from seeing?  How does the camera not work?
If liquid damage I doubt YOU can fix it but you can have Apple fix it or a third-party place.  If lens is obstructed you may be able to polish the area.

  • I got my Zen Vision:M to go o

So I bought my zvm last night from best buy in queens, and for 250 bucks I must say woot!!! But I ran into a big problem:
When I got home I threw in the cd, installed the drivers and stuff, and docked it. Starting moving files to it immediately. But I was in my friends house on his computer, and I thought... well at home i have an av to usb charger from my old dell mp3 player (RIPieces) so I threw the zvm on that thing over night. But when I woke up (expecting it to be fully charged) it was dead instead. I tried reseting it, holding the turn on button etc etc until I thought about returning it.
But I called my friend and he said to come back to his house to test it on his computer and see if it will charge and turn on. So I do that and nothing is happening except for the blinking blue light on the top of the player. So JUST as I'm about to throw it in the box, the screen lights up and goes to the song I was listening to before I shut it off.
So... I think that alot of problems about the machine not turning on or charging may have to do with faulty usb cords or trying to charge it with an av to usb cord...
So leave it on you computer for a while to charge and make sure that your cord is fully inserted into a usb slot that works and that the cord is undamaged.

MTP driver is in your WinXP SP2, do you have SP2?if you removed your zen vision from device manager, its ok, keep your zen vision connected to your PC and do a PC reboot while your zen is connected, your PC will recognise it

  • Will my old wall charger for Zen Vision:M will work with the (New) Z

i bought a wall charger from amazon for my Zen Vision: M 30GB, will it work with the (New)Zen? i just bought the Zen 6 GB and it doesn't comes with an adapter, pretty bad move there, well, does it has the same plug? i hope it's compatible. thanks

    sebastiankf,
That third party adapter from your Amazon link is hard wired specifically for the Vision:M and will not work with any other Creative player unless it has the same pin-outs using the same docking interface. The Creative AC-5V adapters will either have a coaxial power plug connection that will work with most of the Creative hard disk based players, except for the original NJB and Zen Micro, or a USB Mini-B plug that will work with all of the flash players that have a USB connection and the Zen Micro.

  • I've almost got a global drop down menu working but I need help!!

I've got a drop down menu working that is in my "Sites" folder in MobileMe and can be linked to individual pages on my site with an html widget. This way I only have to change one file when I need to edit my navigation menu. It works fine as a footer as you can see here: http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Site/home_2.html
The problem is I can't figure out how to use it as a header because the Widget box has to be big enough for the menus to drop in or they get cut off, but if it overlaps the page content as it does on the top of the page it blocks the content.
Is it possible to make this transparent so the content shows through?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, if we can figure this out it will be a breakthrough for having an effective navigation bar and a great timesaver for editing.
    Sincerely, David

    with an html widget.
you can not achieve the result with html snippet widget, because you have no control over it.
... if we can figure this out it will be a breakthrough for having an effective navigation bar and a great timesaver for editing.
it can be done and it's a known debate between me and other whose like to hide iweb navbar and build their own text based navbar, here was my argument: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8136472&#8136472
that said, it can be done when you have control over iweb, here are examples:

  • So, I got a Zen Vision 30gb on Eba

And sure enough, there was no installation CD when I received the unit. Other than that, the player works just fine. Is there any way I can avoid buying a new installation CD?

You can download it from this site - go to the support tab at the top of the page, choose your model of mp3 player and then it will give you the software to download. You can sync the ZVM with either WMP 0 or mind you - without installing?the software.

  • Zen Vision M Recognized by XP Pro, but not by Creative Media Organizer or other transfer softw

I have a Zen Vision M. It worked perfectly for months. Suddenly, it wouldn't turn on. I started it in Rescue Mode, did a clean up and several reboots. It started doing a rebuild on every start. Now when I plug it into the USB port, my computer recognizes it. It gives me the portable device icon in the task bar. But, if I try to use it with Windows Media Player 0, Creative Mediasource, Organizer or anything else, it says the device is not connected. I have checked Device Manager, and it shows up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Zen software. I have no issues with device drivers in the Device Manager. It just simply will not show up as connected on any software to transfer music.
If I connect it to the USB, it goes into dock mode. When I boot up any of the software, it shows the docking arrows moving. It's like everything is ok except the one important piece - not being recognized by the various software needed to transfer music.
Please help!? I have a Dell Dimension 8400. I run Windows XP Pro with ALL updates, and SP2. It is completely up to date with all critical updates for XP Pro. This came out of the blue and I have no explanation for it. I hadn't used it for about 3 days, but it worked perfectly up until I turned it on that last time when I got nothing and had to go through all the clean up, reboots, etc. I have done 2 clean ups so far.
Please advise what to do next.
    Thanks.

Ok. I checked my version of XP. It is XP Pro, Version 2002, SP2. I checked and already had the 2 hotfixes that were listed as being needed before proceeding. I followed all the steps and changed the registry key on "everyone" as the instructions stated to do. My ZVM is still not recognized by any of the software for transferring or organizing MP3's. My computer still recognizes that it is attached. It still gives me the device icon in the task bar. It still says it's A-ok in the Device Manager. It does everything, except it is not detected by ANY of my music software. <sigh>? Frustration is at its peak for me right now. I really appreciate all of the efforts. I'm at my wits end now. I have done everything you have indicated I should, but am getting the same results. I did purchase an extended warranty from Circuit City where I purchased this last summer. Is that the next step? Do I need to get this replaced?I love this player and really don't want to go through this again. We had to exchange it twice in the first month because it froze up and wouldn't do a thing. This last one has been perfect. I keep it in a leather padded case at all times. It never has the battery drained. It never gets jostled or bumped or dropped or anything that might damage it. When not being played, it stays on my desk in the case.
Thanks so much for any and all help.

  • Zen Vision M Problem, help please A

Just got a Zen vision M, and its really pissing me off. I installed all the software, and plugged it into the computer. The blue light started flashing, and has been for the past 3-4 hours. I then tried plugging it into a wall adapter i have that has a USB port on it. thsi caused the screen to come on (shock horror!) and the charging symbol to come on in the top right corner. I left that for an hour, but to my display it did not charge at all. At one point it turned on and started playing music, but then turned off after about 5 minutes. Please help

You could try rebuilding - with the Zen turned on, press the reset button (at the bottom next to data connector) with something like a straightened out paper clip. This will make the Zen reread all the tracks and rebuild it's database. It'll take a few minutes. If that doesn't work, try a full reset - see http://forums.creative.com/creativel...p&message.id=3?Try "reboot" first, then "clean up". Good luck!?Jim

  • Zen Vision M: 30g won't turn

Well, I've just about had it with Creative Mp3 players now. I just recently got my Zen Vision; now when I went to turn it on, expecting it to be fully charged from its dead battery, it shows that it hasn't even charged past the red bar. Then, when I go to turn it on, it won't turn on. It won't even turn on while connected to the computer. PLEASE, SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!

Simple Instructions If the device isn t charging, try other ports on your computer. Often computers utilize passi've hubs on the motherboard to increase the number of USB ports; this can mean that the ports on the front of the computer are low power ports that can only put out 00ma and not the required 500ma.
    More Technical Instructions
First you need to check to make sure that the power save is disabled on your USB ports on your computer.
Click Start then Run, and type devmgmt.msc then click OK
    Expand Uni'versal Serial Bus Controllers
Right Click on Each entry in the list that says USB Root Hub and select properties
Go to the Power Management Tab
Uncheck the box that says Allow the Computer to Turn off this device to save power .
Next you need to see if your computer can actually charge a USB device, and where you should plug the device in.
Next click on the Power tab
Check the Hub Information Section and look at the description.
It should say something on the lines of Total Power Available: 500mA per port
If it says something else, then you have a problem and your computer might not be able to charge a USB device.
Now if you find you have one hub listed that has 500ma per port, and the other is something like 00ma. Then use a USB device (mouse, camera, etc) and plug it into each USB port.
When you have a device plugged into a port, you should see it show up in the attached devices window (under the Power tab). Find the ports on your system that are associated with the 500ma capable hub in your system.
Then plug your Zen device into that port.
If the battery of your Zen device is so depleted that it can't turn on, it won t show up in the attached device area but it should start charging.
After a couple of hours try turning on the device while its plugged in, if all goes well it should turn on and now be recognized.
It should show up under the attached devices section under the USB hubs power tab. If the port is working as it should the zen should show up as a pulling 500ma of power.
    Note:
It is normal for the Creative labs device not to be recognized by the PC if the battery is completely dead. If the battery is dead it doesn't have enough power to turn on, so it can't be recognized by the PC.
It doesn't have to be recognized to charge, but it does need to be on a port that "can" charge it.
Untill the device has enough power to turn on it generally charges at a much slower rate. So it often can take much longer for the device to charge to the point where it can turn on, then it will take to charge the rest of the way once it is recognized by the PC. This is generally just a first time problem, as long as your don't drain the battery completly between charges.

  • Zen Vision M he

I have had my Zen for over a year now and it's been great until recently. Yesterday, the player froze between tracks. I inserted a pin to reset it and it worked fine... except my videos and photos didn't show up in the directory and no information would display on the now playing screen even if a track was playing. It would be playing a song but it would always say 'Please select a music track from your library to play'. Today I tried plugging it in and the computer wouldn't detect the device fully anymore. I could hear a sound when I plug the usb in and take it out. I looked in device manager and it showed the zen plugged in but with a yellow exclamation mark. The zen recovery tool didn't help. The recovery tool detected there was a zen vision m plugged in, but the actual firmware update could not find an mp3 players connected to the computer. I tried one of the tips here about holding the power switch and hitting the reset switch. The power was close to full. It turned off immediately and now the only sign of life is when I plug the Zen into the computer. It's been plugged in for two hours and all?it does is blink the blue light on the hold/power switch. Nothing else.
edit: Okay, I opened the Zen, played around with it and got back to the original problem. A disk cleanup did work this time. All is well for now in Zen land.Message Edited by absolute333 on 2--20070:53 PM

Try to refresh if it's Windows Media Player, pressing F5, or open the Media Explorer I think it should appear as connected.

  • Zen VIsion M 3

Hi, I recently bought a Zen Vision M 30 gig MP3 player. I came home read the manual unpacked it and pluged it into my computer to charge. After charging for over 8 hours and the battery icon in the corner never went off without the flash icon through the battery, and it never came up in charge. I switched computers and tried it with my wifes computer, letting it charge for over 2 hours and the same thing was happening. it would not take a charge. I returned it to Best Buy and they exchanged it, and while there I bought a wall charger. Now this is strange because it was a griffin bower block and the help at best buy told me it would charge the new unit. after going home and plugging it into the wall the battery after 24 hours never showed charged. I tried the computer hook up and this time it after many many hours the battery was showing a charge. the next day it showed it was charged. I called Best Buy and a staff member from the geek squad told me that the griffin charger would not charge the Zen. I asked them why they sold it to me then. I am planning on returning it and finding somewhere to buy the right wall charger. I called the creative lab help line and someone who worked there helped me emmencly. You see the player was not working correctly and He walked me through changing the driver for the player. I am getting now used to the player. But the new box where it is taped at both ends one end was cut and I did not get the 2ND. CD in the box I did get the ZEN Vision M Installation CD, but in the ST box I got 2 CD's And I am still having trouble working with the player. Such as : . When I have the music library highlighted the screen shows an arrow ] on the righ side of the screen, how do i activate the arrow in the book it shows to get to the playlists 2. the same thing happens when i scoll down to pictures it gives me the ] but what magical button activates this button I am not a complete novice to computers but that said I am no Bill Gates either. I hope I have explained my problems so you might be able to write back and walk me throught these problems. When I called the help line the man told me that all the software is on your web site, but I would like the second CD to keep as a reference and plus it may have some programs that could walk me through my problems. Thanks,Doug Goddard9935 Raisin Street Maybee Mi. [email protected]

Yes, in the center of the player is a vertical scroll pad. tap it twice to select a file (music, video, pic etc...)next to the vertical pad is a < and a > which you can click to move to the bookmark when it is easier to find artists by LETTER which you can scroll down from a to z. You are probably having troubles with the touchpad bc you new w/ the player...youll get the hang of it soon!

  • Zen Vision M 30Gb Install Probl

So I just got my Zen Vision M 30Gb today and I plugged it into my computer. It started charging and then my computer finally recognized it and tried to do the normal driver install, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have completely installed the drivers. So I unplugged it and tried it again, but it did the same thing once again. Is this normal? Is there anything I need to do? Or do I just need to wait till the Zen is completely recharged then unplug it and replug it back in? Any help is appreciated guys. Thanks!Message Edited by NslMatt on 03-0-200709:35 PM

    are you using Windows XP?
Ever tried to install the included software before plugging the mp3 player to your PC?

  • Zen Vision M Video Out to TV problem (with proprietary cable!)

I am the original owner of a 60 GB Zen Vision M that works perfectly. I have purchased the proprietary A/V cable for the unit when I purchased it but never had occasion to use it. I now have a flat panel display on which I should like to display video files. The information screen says it has version .2.02 (I assume that?s firmware.)
Customer support for the product is no longer available. I have set the video out to ?auto NTSC? I have wonderful sound but nothing shows on the screen from the yellow RCA video plug that comes out of the same white cable from Creative. UI have connected it to several different sets, two of which are older tube sets. No luck.
    Any help here?
    Thanks.

Anyone tried holding down power and pressing the reset at the same time. Then after hit clean up from the recovery menu. I was told to do that but i havent tried test it out on tv output yet.
Warning: it clears all the settings in your zen player. (Custom eq, menus, all zen settings)

  • Odd Zen vision m question: double track list

i recently got a zen vision m and love it. i've had this odd issue crop up twice now and i'm not sure how to take care of it.
all of the files in my music albums are being listed twice, but there is only one copy of the media on the player. i'm not sure if this is being caused by using the windows media player sync option or what.
    any advice?
    thanks ahead of time

Even when I go to the album and hit the play button it still doesn't play them in order. The strange thing is in the upper left corner while it plays it has numbers like /2, 2/2, etc. so it knows the order the songs came on the album it just doesn't want to play them that way for some reason. So is there a way to tell it to play them in order by those numbers?
Also, does anyone else find the touch pad maddening to use? I think I just accidentally bought some music I didn't want because I was having trouble controlling the touch pad.
