Got new router, now powerbook G3 pismo wont connect to it.

asked cable company to replace router as i was paying for 60 meg connection but due to moving my router to connect to my dreambox i realised that the router only had 802.11g wifi and so my computer wasnt able to connect fast enough to use the connection. when watching football or downloading big files i ran an ethernet cable across the room which wasnt ideal.
they replaced it with a new router capable of 802.11n today an rewired the cabling so both my mac and dreambox have ethernet connections.
when they were here i went to test it with wifes powerbook but battery was dead so i tested with my palm tx and it connected fine..
however...
wifes powerbook gives an error and wont connect. part of me thinks its due to the powerbook being 802.11b and the router not handling that, but my palm tx is 802.11b so thats not a reason surely? checked and psp, wii, nokia phone all connect but powerbook gives error.
if it is, can i just stick a pc usb 802.11g or n stick into the powerbook's usb (1) slot and make it connect?

Are you certain you connected all the way to the Internet with your palm, and not just to the Router?
cable company
The cable company has to perform a "deep reset" to allow you to use a new device with a new M.A.C. Address. Your connection was established with an older M.A.C. Address, and that (your old Router) is the only device that can be connected until they do this.
Call them and tell them, "I got a new computer, and you guys have to reset your equipment to accept the new device in place of the old one."
almost every 802.11n Router has a mode that will allow it to pause for an instant and "sniff" for slower devices. It slows your network down by an imperceptible amount. Not an issue in home networks. But you may have to configure it to do so.

  • Got new router, now I can't find my HP LJ5000 on my wireless network

I recently had FIOS internet installed at my house, it came with a new wireless router which replaced my old one. Since then I have not been able to find my HP Laserjet 5000 over the wireless network. The "add printer" function does not even see it. (It worked fine with my old router, a Belkin.) All other aspects of my network work, including other wireless functions. The HP LJ5000 still works with another Mac that is connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
At first I thought this was because my laptop was an older iBook running Panther, and was not smart enough for the FIOS router. But now I have a brand new Macbook running Leopard, and the problem is the same, i.e. the network works great except I can't see the HP LJ5000 wirelessly.

I just found a workaround to my own problem. I created the connection between my laptops and the printer using "IP Printing" instead of "Appletalk." I typed in the exact IP address of my printer and it works now. I think my router assigns IP addresses dynamically, so I may have to redo this every time my printer gets a new IP address, but at least I know how to make it work.

  • Just got a new router, now iPad having trouble staying connected to wireless

It seems the wireless connection is sjakey on iPad. At home I never had any problems until recently after getting a new wireless router for the house. iPad sees the wireless network, connects, but often disconnects. Signal strength is fine, but it won;t hold. Any suggestions?
At my friends house, it sees his network and connects, but only works with email. Safari doesn't work or any app that requires wireless connection.

Shawn is speculating. None of us know if 2.0.3 will be released in September or indeed ever.
Can I ask what type of encryption you are using? WEP, WPA or WPA? 40bit WEP needs a five ASCII character (or ten hex) password to work properly with all devices and 128bit WEP needs a thirteen ASCII character (or twenty six hex) password. It is much more preferable to use WPA though as you can use a password of any length and WPA can't be hacked nearly so quickly as WEP.
    Hope that helps.

  • Got new router but can't connect to printer on ipad or mac

can't find air printer on ipad or mac since we got new router but were connected to router and wiifi on

Have you tried connecting to wifi, if you cant get those apps or facebook than most likely you are not connected to wifi. Please turn on your wifi connection button in your settings. Look for the a certain wifi and type in pass code and hopefully you should have those apps.

Just now my iphone 4s wont connect to wi-fi .. Says incorrect password .. I tryed defrent networek

Not even close.  I've read through hundreds of questions and responses to this is.  Here's a summary of the issue - it's a pretty simple problem.  iPod touches and iPhones are not recognizing CORRECT network passwords. Key word is "CORRECT".  The problem appears to be random, meaning that it occurs sometimes after an update and sometimes after you've disconnected from the network.  There is no pattern.  If you are truly experiencing the issues of an unrecognized correct password, there is little hope.  In all of the threads I've read through there has been no solution.  Recreating a home network, changing security level from WEP to WPA, changing the channel used by the router, resetting iPod/iPhone network settings, powering off router, modem, etc.  Folks, none of it works.  There is no known solution to this issue.  Last resort is to restore the device.  I'm doing that now - will check back with an update.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Try another cable. I dubt it will help but do it since you have more cables
    - Try another USB port
    - Try on another cable. Again I doubt it will do anything
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Just set up a new router, now I can't print to my wireless printer!

Hi, so I'm really frustrated with this situation since I installed OS X Mountain Lion. I have a Samsung SCX-4623FW wireless printer, connected it to our wifi network (router: D-Link N 300 DIR-632). So it's all good, the wireless light is on so I know it's connected. I even printed out a configuration report to find out the IP address. Now my problem is, when I try to add a printer to my MacBook Pro (13" Inch, Late 2011) using the IP address and the following information:
Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Use: Samsung SCX-4623FW Series (from Select Print Software...)
It says: Unable to verify the printer on your network.
Unable to connect to '[printer ip address]' due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?
And I hit continue in case the error doesn't affect the wireless installation of the printer, I tried to test print a page on the internet and the status message of the printer says: The printer is not responding.
So I reboot the computer, unplugged and reconnected the router AND modem and still nothing. I reset the settings on the printer, new IP address and everything. Still nothing. I can print via USB but I prefer wireless printing because there are 2 desktops, 2 laptops and multiple devices in the house and it's just not convenient.
Can anybody please help? I'm all out of ideas. Many thanks in advance.

Can any Macs in your home see the printer?
That is to say, is it just Mountain Lion that is having the problem?
What I'm wondering is if this is a router problem, or a Mountain Lion problem?  I'm trying eliminate as many variables as possible.
Do you happen to know if the Samsung printer supports Bonjour (eg. Zeroconf) network discovery protocols?  You could download "Bonjour Browser"
    <http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/13388/bonjour-browser>
to see if the Mac can see your printer via Bonjour protocols.
Since you know the IP address of your printer, you could download "WakeOnLan" which will display every IP address is sees on your network, and check to see if it is in the list generated by WakeOnLan (NOTE: I do not want to wake anything up, but WakeOnLan does a really good job of finding and displaying every IP address is sees on the local network).

  • Computer Crashed, got new one, now touch will not sync

Our old pc crashed, got a new one, installed newest itunes, and now the ipod touch will not sync without erasing all the info on it. I just want to add new apps to it, is there anyway to do this without restoring or resetting

When your machine crashed, was it a hard drive issue? If so, were you using any kind of backup solution (external hard drive, blank DVDs etc)?
If not and you have to start from scratch, then the only way to sync with a new computer is to erase and resync. Purchased items should transfer though. I would suggest that you explore some of the third party desktop programs that allow you to get content off an iPod and into your library first.
Then when you have that sorted, you can try to sync. Who knows, you may find that the purchased stuff, apps and other song or video content may be transferred if you are logged in to that copy of iTunes with the AppleID used to purchase those items.
Moving forward though, I seriously suggest using some sort of backup system whether you manually drag files to a drive somewhere, or use some online backup service. Also it helped me to learn a bit about how iTunes works and organizes the media it contains so when something like this happens (and it did once to me) replacing the data back where it needed to be was much less of a task. This made syncing my iPods a worry free endeavor.

  • New Battery, Now Powerbook restarts after sleep everytime

So as the subject says I bought a new battery for my 17 inch powerbook about a month or so ago. Since I started using it almost anytime I let the computer go to sleep while an application is running it will require me to restart when I wake it from sleep. This is more of an annoyance than anything but it would be very helpful if there was a fix for this.
    Thanks alot!

Im not sure where exactly I got the battery from (it was some eBay store)
    Battery Information:
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 1954
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 5783
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 66
    Condition: Good
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -1956
    Voltage (mV): 11170
I have not reset my PMU because at the bottom of that link it says that it will permanently remove one RAM disk or something to that effect.
    Hope that all helps!
