Hi,
Read the manual that came with your motherboard, it tells you were to connect the power button. Or, if that doesn't help you, I think you're better out turning your computer in at a service shop and let a trained technician do the work for you. 8)

  • Help with the MSI 645 Ultra!

I've got a very frusturating problem. I just bought the MSI 645 ultra mobo to upgrade my system, along with a brand new P4 2.0 GHZ processor and 512 mb DDR ram to go onto the board. My problem is as follows: The computer is not booting up. No OS, no BIOS, no nothing. When I turn the power on and hit the switch, all the hardware in the case starts up and sounds fine... but the screen remains blank. All four lights on the little diagnostic tool/usb port thingy that came with the board stay red, which, according to the manual, indicates a problem with the processor.
The processor is either bad (highly unlikely with it being an Intel chip) or for some reason its not working with the mobo. So, heres my question: Does an Intel P4 2.0 GHZ Northwood processor work with the MSI 645 Ultra?
Under the list of supported speeds, 2.0 ghz is not listed ?( . Can anyone tell me whats going on here?

  • MSI 645 ultra xp / 2000 problem please help.

I've got 3 MSI 645 ultra mobos. I've tried every thing i can think off to get xp installed and working. I don't get as far as formating the hard disk in the setup. I relpaced the power supply with a qtec 550 watt power supply (the gold one). i've flashed the bios to 1.9, i've used different hardisks and cables. I've checked the memory PC2100 and 2700. It's a pentium 4 1.5, I've tried a 2g in it as well. I'm using an ATI radeon 7500 but have tried a s3 agp card. All the other components work fine in another machine but not on my 3 MSI boards.
Please help some one out there must have had the same problem. I'll buy the first person who fixes it cakes!!!

    Hi,
I ran memtest 3.0 and there were no errors. it ran for 9 hours.
I am only using one hard disk at a time. it's set as a master on IDE1 and the CDrom is on IDE2 as a master. should I use cable select?? I also tried the hard disk and CD on ide2 and that did not work either.

  • Power supply for MSI 645 Ultra mother board

I need to replace the power supply for a MSI 645 Ultra mother board. I've available a switching power supply Allied model DR-B500E, that doesn't have the -5V output (infact its 20 pin ATX power supply connector has no wire in pin 18).
Can I use this power supply with the MSI 645 Ultra?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, here I am. Sorry for delay but I had some problems with the PC (as NTLDR missing).
However now is ok and I can confirm that it runs ok also with power supply without -5V output.
Thanks a lot for the support and best wishes for Christmas and new year.

  • MSI 645 Ultra and "Wake On LAN" ???

    Hello,
This question is aimed at the following people :
    - Someone who owns a MSI 645-Ultra motherboard, and who has some experience about it's "Wake On LAN" capabilities,
    or,
    - Someone at MSI who knows the detailed specifications of this motherboard (related to its "Wake On LAN" capabilities).
I own a "MSI 645 Ultra" motherboard for some time now (more than a year). It's based on SIS 645 chipset.
Currently, I'm trying to make the computer boot on demand, through the LAN.
So, I have an appropriate network card : its based on Admtek AN983, it supports "Wake On LAN" (WOL), and a WOL cable was included.
About the MSI 645 Ultra motherboard, I looked at the documentation, and, surprisingly, I didn't find any mention of the WOL feature.
Too sad, this "modern" motherboard doesn't support WOL feature ??
The doc says there is support for WOR (Wake on modem Ring), and there is a WOR connector. But no WOL connector.
So, what's the status of this motherboard, regarding WOL support ??
    - Is it internally supported, without the need of a WOL connection, directly through  PCI and PME signaling ?
    - Can I use the motherboard WOR input connector, and plug the network card's WOL into it ?
    - Is all of this non sense ??
Thanks in advance for your clarifications and tips.
Technical replies are welcome (I have a solid networking background)
    Guillaume

Here I reply to myself : I think this will be useful to other people, whatever the motherboard model.
So, I just SUCCESSFULLY have been able to wake up my PC from the LAN
    Here are my conclusions :
1- There's nothing in the motherboard documentation that explicitly indicates that it's supported. But it is !
2 - I didn't need to connect the LAN card to the motherboard (didn't need any WOL connection)
3 - I have a patched Windows XP. But its standard drivers for my network card weren't enough. I had to install the updated drivers from the manufacturer (admtek).
4 - With these drivers, I could then access, from Windows devices setup tool, to the network adapter APM properties, and I could "Allow Device to Bring Computer Out of Standby".
    5. Inside the BIOS, a few things to setup :
    Power Management Features
    -> IPCA Function : Enabled
    -> Power Management / APM : Enabled
-> Set Wake Up Events ... Wake Up On PME# : Enabled
Actually, this means that there is no explicit need for a "Wake On LAN" configuration. It all goes through PME# (i.e. direct PCI) wakeup events.
    6. Then it works :-)
The excellent free tool available at
    http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/
does the job at the remote computer side (when fed with the valid MAC and IP addresses).
I'm very pleased... but I wish MSI had somehow indicated that the motherboard is WOL capable !

  • MSI 645 Ultra + FX5600 G-Card

Will the MSI 645 Ultra Motherboard take a FX5600 VTDR Graphics card. Any issues with this combo would be apprciated.
I'm looking to upgrade and the 5600 VTDR looks a good start to get the FX features in place with a top spec card. :D :D :D

Hey dude, try this first. I had 2 648 Max's today. Neither of them would boot. Cpu's good, memory good. PSUs good. Dude, I was pulling my hair out, argh......
Then what I did was removed all the pin connectors for the Power Switch, Hard Drive LED, Reset SW. I left the speaker connected. I cleared the CMOS. Took a small screw driver and jumped the two power pins. And walla! The thing started up and was able to get into the BIOS.
Man, I ate a scooby snack and did a little more investigating and low and behold it was a bad Reset Switch that prevented it from booting.
This is almost the exact sme sysmptoms your talking about. A similar one I had about two months ago was a bad power switch. It was just arely making contact not allowing the board to start, but all the fans etc... would work.
So add this to your trouble shooting and maybe this will work.

  • Old MSI 645 Ultra (version 1.1) won't Work.(period)!!!

    OK VERY BIG PROBLEM!!!!
i built a computer from scratch, well old parts from my other computer!!the parts are 2.0gig intel cpu, 512ddr ram, 60gig harddrive, Msi 645 ultra(verison 1.1), geforce 2mx, and a 300W PSU. I put it all together fine I think . When i turned it on, Nuthing worked!!
I have the D-BRacket tool in the back and the lights first went 2 green top>1 green left, 1 green right which meant something like "Initialising Video Interface." and the computer didn't even work!!!nuhting, ZERO no bios no beep, but the power all worked. i fiddle around with things and Wen i turn it on again, the D-Bracket has ALL RED LIGHTS "CPU Damaged or inproperly placed" which is like impossible. ANd nuthing happens. I switch all my parts into my new one and nuthing is fried it all works!!put it all back together and the"Initalising video interface"lights happen again!!! i dunno whats wrong, maybe the mainboard partly fried or something i have no clue!! Monitor DOesn't show anything execpt a blank screen. Everything powers up but nuthing works!!

What do you mean by multitasking not working? How? What happens?
In any event, you should be able to switch to another App by clicking the Home button and touching the other App. Restarting the iPhone should not be required.

I can install a cheap vid card and I have NO Problem! ATI sent me a replacement card and it does the same thing, "Black Screen Lock-up" or just reboots. If both ATI cards are doing the same thing, there must be some kind of incompatability between XP and the 7500 AIW (no problems with ATI card and Win 98SE).
ATI has washed their hands of any future responsibility, so I am apparently stuck with a $200 vid card that doesn't work with my system.

In my computer I had a Network-adapter which coused a problem of self-reboot when i tried to shut-down.
I replaced it with an older one - problems gone !!!

  • MSI 645 Ultra-C vs MSI 845 Ultra-C

Can somebody tell me widh mobo from this 2 is better.
For the moment I use MSI 845 Ultra-C but I'm not satisfy by it.
Its recommend to change it with MSI 645 Ultra-C (MSI 645 Ultra) or not?
    Thanks.

I don't think that MSI 845 Ultra-C its a good mobo, I had problems with it from the 1st day I have it. I change it once. I don't know what to say I don't see some performances from my P4, and I think the mobo its the problem here. Or maybe its because I have just an GForce 2 MX400 and 128 DDRAM?
Now I just install WIN .NET Webserver Edition and it seems to work fine, but with WIN XP Pro its not working at all. Maybe you give some advices because I really don't know what to do.
Another ideea that cross my mind it was to chenge it with MSI K7N420 PRO + Athlon XP 1600+. Is this a better ideea?
    Thanks

  • MSI 645 Ultra - AmiBIOS 3.31a

    Hi,
I did not plug in the connector for the CPU stock fan as my stock fan uses those white, red, yellow cable for power. Hence my motherboard will keep beeping that it's High Temperature since it "did not" detect my stock fan running.
My question is, how do I turn that alarm off? I remember doing it before but I forgot.

  • MSI 645 Ultra Dead Mobo

    First a little background...
Bought a new MSI 645 Ultra (version 1.0) about 4 months ago.  Installation of the new mobo, new memory, new video card, and new CPU went just fine.
It's been running very stable for the past 4 months, but two days ago I rebooted (warm) and the machine wouldn't even POST!  Hard drive and CD-ROM power up but I don't even get to the BIOS...
I didn't change anything.  CPU is not overclocked.  I haven't added any hardware since the day I put it together.  I haven't tried flashing the BIOS.  I just rebooted and I get an Early Chipset Initialization error on the D-Bracket.
    Things checked so far...
I have verified that the memory is still good.
I have verified that the hard drive is still good.
I have verified that the video card is still good.
    Things NOT checked so far...
I have NOT verified that the CPU is still good.
Things attempted to fix the problem so far:
I have pulled the memory and booted without it... no change
I have cleared the CMOS, no change: procedure follows:
        Unplugged power cable,
        Pressed power switch several times,
        Set jumper to "clear" position
Removed CMOS battery for 2 hours,
        Re-installed CMOS battery,
Put jumper back to original position,
Plugged power cable back into computer.
I have reseated the memory... no change
I have reseated the video card... no change
I have unplugged hard drive, cdrom, and floopy from the mobo... no change
I have taken out the modem... no change
    System configuration:
      Intel P4 1.7GHz CPU
MSI 645 Ultra version 1.0 mobo
      512MB DDR333 (1 stick)
      nVidia GeForce3 128MB video card
      3.5 floopy drive
Western Digital 40GB IDE hard drive
      32 speed CDROM
      56K modem
Is there something that you guys can recommend to fix this problem!?
Did my bios somehow fry itself when I rebooted? Remember: I'm not getting to the bios at all... no POST... no nothing...!    ?(
    Thanks
