Has anyone seen this one?

Thought so. It's funny that's the 2nd strange email I've gotten today. The first one was from a Funeral home "EUBanks" it said I had a friend who died and they are holding the services and to view the full invitation by clicking here. I looked them up and it's a real place in Texas but at the bottom of their website they had a warning that these fraudulent emails are being sent out. Crazy day! Thanks for your help.

It did not come from Apple. Do not click on the link and do not supply your password. It is a scam. You can report the phishing email to Apple here:

Once you have done so, delete it.

I recently received 2 emails form Apple checking if I had purchased 2 games from the App store that were downloaded to computers not associated with my ID. They then advised me to change my password if I had not made those purchase.  How do I know that emails are legit?  I am afraid that they are scams to get my information by going on  to supply information.  I had checked my credit card just now and no transactions have been posted yet. Thanks!

You can always manually go to http://appleid.apple.com and change your password there, to avoid any links from the emails.
That's the only place you should use to change your Apple Id password.
With that said, do you know if anybody may have used your Apple Id to download things? Like kids to a new computer or tablet?

Hi. I keep getting emails supposedly from apple telling me my account has been suspended. I am probably worrying about nothing. Has anyone else been getting these.

If in doubt send them to Apple at [email protected]

  • When I turned off Find my iPhone, Apple sent me an email saying: I got an email from Apple saying: your Apple ID and password will no longer be required for someone to erase, reactivate, and use your iPhone. I don't understand!

I just turned off Find my iPhone after hearing about the hacking in Australia.  I got an email from Apple saying:  your Apple ID and password will no longer be required for someone to erase, reactivate, and use your iPhone.  Does this mean that anyone can have access to my iPhone?  I still have to put my passcode in.

What that means is the activation lock does not operate if you did what you said you did. Bottom line, turn it back on. That will then require anyone trying to use the device to have yoru Apple ID and password.

There have been a number of phishing scam emails going around for at least half a year...do not respond, click links, or do anything with that email.  Apple does not operate that way.

  • I just recently bought a macbook pro. I got an email from apple to update to OSX Lion but I accidentally deleted it. Is there anyway that email can be resent so I don't have to purchase OSX Lion?

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. After setting up my new laptop, I got an email from Apple about upgrading to OSX Lion. I wasn't sure what the email was so I accidentally deleted it. Afterwards, I was informed that I need this upgrade and I have no way of retrieving this email. Is there anyway another email can be sent out to me so I don't have to purchase OSX Lion through the App Store?

Visit http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate and follow the appropriate links. You will be asked what your serial number is and where you purchased your computer but you will get lion free of charge.

  • Got the email from Apple Aperture compatible with future versions of iOS?  (Mac OS?)

Got the email from Apple about Aperture this morning.  They had a huge omission:  are they going to keep Aperture compatible with future iOS? If not, I want, at a minimum, a refund for what I paid for the app.

They had a huge omission:  are they going to keep Aperture compatible with future iOS?
There will be no further development of Aperture. That much should be clear from the announcement, that Aperture will no longer be sold at the AppStore.  You are lucky - you used the last chance to buy the best photos app  ever Apple created. The new Photos is not intended to be  used by professional photographers like Aperture was. And you will be able to use and enjoy it as long as you keep a compatible operating system on your Mac.

When I typed in -/Library/Keychains/  in the Go To Folder box, I got the message  that the folder could not be found.  Possibly related to that, when I did a permissions repair I got this message "SUID file sys/Lib/CoreS...has been modified and will not be repaired.  How can I undo the problems that Mavericks 10.9.1 seems to have caused?

    1. You need to type or paste in ~/Library/Keychains/ and not -/Library/Keychains/.
    2. If the repair permissions message refers to ARDAgent, it's normal.

  • Anyone who bought "Magic" get this email from Apple?

I am a little suspicious that it might not be legit, especially since I did not buy "Magic" on iTunes, although I did gift it. So, anyone know if this came from Apple?
    Dear xxxx,
Thank you for downloading Devil's Arcade from Magic. An error occurred, and the item you received was the wrong version.
To correct this problem, we placed a new copy in your download queue. To begin downloading, click this link:

Or, you can open iTunes and select Check for Purchases from the Store menu. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our customer service team by replying to this email.

Yup, I got it. Clicked on the link, new version downloaded. All is right with the world. Though I haven't checked to see what the difference was.

  • Update your Nokia 6350 -- got this email from Noki...

I received an email from [email protected] suggesting that I update the software on my 6350.  However, when I follow the enclosed link to software updater, it tells me that my phone (6350) is not supported.
I went to the Settings menu and found the entry to check for updates (configured to come from "Cingular").  It said that no updates were available.
My software version is listed a v4.96.  I also found a page that asked me to enter the device number and it would tell me the latest version; it listed the current version of 12-something.
Quite confusing.  Was this a general message that wasn't specific to my model?  Is there a difference between the general Nokia OS and that supported by AT&T (Cingular)?
    Thanks.

  • I got an email from apple that my icloud was full but it's not.

A few days ago I received an email, supposedly from Apple, letting me know that I had reached my limit of free storage on the cloud and needed to either clean it up or buy more storage.  I immediately checked my iCloud and was well within my maximum capacity.  Has anyone else had this happen?

If the email asked you to verify your account by clicking a link in the email, that was a fake. If you fell for that and clicked the link and provided your account information,  you've now almost certainly given that information to crooks. IMMEDIATELY go here:
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
and click the "reset your password" link and hope it's not too late and that the crooks have already hijacked your account. If that's the site you used to change the password, then you're probably safe assuming you haven't used a password that would be easily guessed.
    Regards.
