Hence the problem with trying to download something the second it becomes available. You and millions of others are all trying to download it at exactly the same time. Just wait.

  • Problem opening files with Mac OS Mavericks and Elements

I have recently installed Mac OS 10.9.x Mavericks.  Since this I have had problems opening files in Elements 11.  I upgraded to Elements 12, blindly hoping the problem would fix itself, however it hasn't.   When I try to open a file the Finder window pops up then disappears immediately.  Occasionally it will stay open until I scroll down but then closes.   I keep the files on an external drive but the drive is working with all other applications, so I don't think it is that.  If anyone has had a similar problem and has any ideas I would be grateful as the program is unusable for now.  Thanks very much in anticipation

Hi Sjmitc, I followed Barbara's instructions about only about 24 hours ago and since then my files have been opening perfectly.  I tried it again before replying to you and they are still opening fine.
I did have to go through my files a couple of times to find all the Elements preferences, but the solution is working fine so far.  I will let you know if I have any further problems.  It is maddening when it happens, so I hope you can fix yours.

Henwen, Is this solution still working for you? I tried this same solution on mine a few days ago and had no luck. However, it actually let me open files this afternoon then when I went back in later today, it was doing the disappearing act again.

  • Mac Pro Restart and Hardware Test Problems

This appears to be a continuation of a thread I began titled "MacPro Restart or Reboot Problems" in which the reboot problem still seems to be evident.
Initially, I was having problems with rebooting but after rebuilding my directory with DiskWarrior, the issue disappeared. Then recently, I entered my password and the Mac restarted itself and the same problem is back where the drive seems to try and "catch" but can't.  And now its back to  happen anytime I want to re-boot (however, this tends to be rare.)
So I ran DiskWarrior again and it reported no problems. Then I tried to run Apple Hardware Test and about 40 seconds into the test, with the message "Testing memory" stated, the fans begin to spin at a high pitch.  The system locks up and the only recourse is to press the on/off button on the front of the Mac Pro.  If I try to wait it out, the Mac Pro will scream and spin until I restart.
I've ran the same AHT test on an identical Mac Pro that is only a few months older than this one and even using the Extended test, the AHT takes a little over four minutes.  And the Testing Memory message appears early in the test  and moves on.  Then, much later in the test, the fans spin up to the same high pitch whine like the problem Mac Pro.  But only one at a time (there seem to be three of them) and each one quickly quiets down once they're tested.
So that's the beef. Something I've considered is this Mac Pro came with two Gigs of Apple memory installed. I'm wondering should I uninstall one of them and re-try the AHT to see if it could be the memory.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks!

I took my G5 to an Apple Store (2 hrs away) and had a Mac Genius look at it. I told him about the reboot issue and the weird skippy sound it made when it tries to reboot. When I mentioned about the G5 locking up during an AHT, he thought that sounded like a hard ware issue. So he ran a diagnostic test with his Apple CD and the G5 tested fine (?!!) We then ran my original AHT disc that I had brought with me. It too tested fine-- it didn't lock up at all! We rebooted like a half a dozen times-- with both keyboard and via the menu-- and it rebooted like a champ. Everything we tried, the G5 rebooted fine. I asked if maybe the keyboard, mouse or monitor back in my office could be part of the the issue. He replied anything connected to the G5 could be a culprit.
So I brought it back and hooked it all back up. And it would not reboot! It tries to reboot and makes the same sound, same problem! I disconnected and replaced cables and keyboards and mice. No dice. I took the G5 down to an edit bay where we have an identical G5 (same 2 GB of memory, maybe 3 months older) and connected its power cable, mouse, keyboard and Cinema Display monitor to my G5 and tried it. No reboot, same problem. I reconnected the older G5 back to its original cables/setting and it reboots-- no problems.
I'm at a loss. I guess I will go about doing a zero drive process and see what that brings... However, one thing I have seemed to confirm: the skippy sound that continously emunates from the G5 as it attempts to reboot seems to be coming from one of the optical drives (the G5 came with two DVD optical drives). I'm wondering if I go in and disconnect the optical drive(s), will that lead to something??
BTW, I did hook up the G5 to another monitor, thinking that maybe it could be a graphics card or monitor issue with the original display. I used a PC monitor with a DVI connector and the problem was still there.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
Actually, you cannot download Snow Leopard. You downloaded a Snow Leopard updater.

    Question
whenever i open gmail it appears which says-"java script application,Error: Illegal operation on WrappedNative prototype ",how this will resolve, anyhow ?

This is usually caused by an extension that is using a name for a variable or function that has become a reserved variable name and thus can't be used anymore.<br />
You will have to check if there is an update is available for your Firefox 29.0a2 Aurora version.
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • OSX 10.5.8 Java Disabler

I have been trying to get a Tom Tom Start 60 working on my Intel imac computer running OSX 10.5.8 without success.
The Tom Tom support team suggested many things including installing the latest version of Flash and then I had to find the Java Disabler and remove it so I looked in the system profiler under applications and found it.
The Java Disabler was located under users ~ library ~ and then I forget the rest.
The issue is I would like to return it to it's original location but I cannot remember the full path.
If anyone is using an Intel imac running OSX 10.5.8 could they look in their system profiler and check the applications tab and tell me it's path
This last part is to tell you why I got into this problem.
I brought a new Tom Tom and it would not work on my computer and the tom Tom support team highlighted Flash and Java issues under Safari
The man form John Lewis told me that Tom Toms are not Apple mac compatible
Tom Tom support team asked me to install the Firefox because Safari would not work ?
I was also told to get rid of the Flash blocker but I didn't know how to do that  ?
Then they told me to install Google Chrome but the latest versions of both do not install or work under OSX 10.5 .8 they only work on 10.7
So I'm rather stuffed having removed the firewall ~ allowed file sharing and installed Flash and removed the Java Disabler just to make a Tom Tom work,
    which it didn't

Just to be sure: do you mean Java or JavaScript?
Java and JavaScript are different languages.
    To avoid confusion, see:

JavaScript is build-in, but can be disabled by an extension or manually.
Java is added by a plugin.
Firefox on Windows is a 32 bit application and thus you need a 32 bit Java version for Firefox.

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

I have made some progress.... I can print wirelessly from my printer now, but I can't set the printer itself to be wireless.  I had to move my printer downstairs to where my router is...which is not that convient.   I printed up the page you asked about....and as expected, it says it is off line and there is no IP address.    So now I need to figure out how to make my printer itself wireless.  I did download the HP driver I needed...but I can't access it to do anything else.  It seems l like I am missing a step... or I need to hook up my computer itself to the printer to help get the printer to be wirelss, but I can't hook it up because there is no port for me to do that (no port that looks like a phone jack).  I am guessing I would need a different type of cord, but I am not sure what kind of cord that would be! Ugh!

    Hi,
I am using Mac OS 10.4 Tiger version with SAP GUI 6.4 rev6.
when I use SAPGUI 6.4 for eCATT Scripts, I  am not able to append or insert new rows in the Parameter list.
Although, all the commands/pushbuttons are working as they should. On pressing the Append button, a line is inserted in the parameter list, I can add new parameter also. But the problem comes while saving the changes. The system message shows that test script saved successfully, but the changes are not reflected in the parameter list.
The details about the hardware/ software am using are:

OS: Mac OS X(ppc) Version 10.4
I would like to know if anyone else has faced the same problem with this configuration?
Do I need to change my configuration?
I am currently using SAPGUI for Java 6.3 rev8 for my eCATT scripting without the above problem.
One more problem is that am no more able to do recording through SAPGUI command in eCATT. OSS note 454939 says that SAPGUI for Java does not support eCATT. Use SAPGUI for windows for SAPGUI recordings.
Does that mean SAPGUI recording in eCATT will not be supported for SAPGUI for Java any further?
