Hello,
We need to know about governance and data management, from this week I am working as master data coordinator in Empresas Polar (Mass Consumer Products Industry), where the role of this function is to assure the creation and maintenance of the master data, as initial activities we are raising statistics to know the most important information of the master data in all SAP modules, and the idea is across own developments in R/3, Portal, Workflow and Tools that exist on the market to simplify Update of the information on the part of the user, we know that in SAP the information is created in different views or transactions, which makes very difficult the opportune update of the data.
I am interested to know about MDM or any tool/application which eolud help us,

BPFs and Data manager

In Version 7.5M I found some new steps when creating a BPF step for Data Manager.
- Data Manager for PackageExecute
- Run specific package for PackageExecute
- Run user package for PackageExecute
can anyone explain me these new steps?
Is it possible to link the data region from BPF to the Element selection in a specific package?
Exmple: in BPF i select a category, time and entity.
When starting a package, i would like to have these selections filled automaticly in the associated fields of the package.

Hi,
1) We use Import manager to import the spreadsheet data.You can map the fields in Import Manager.
Once the data is imported ,you can see the data in Data manager.You can edit ,update certain records,validate them in data manager.
2)Person resposible for importing data must have Import manager and Data manager installed on PC.You can even automate the import process.Apart from this if you have any other role like approver then you can install Data manager only for them to approve via data manager
End Users can search using SRM .they dont need the clients intalled on their system.

BPM Process and data management

Greetings,
I want to ask a question related with best practice topics. What is the best way to manage the information generated by process execution?. Its ok to have a database different from the workflow database to store the most important data.
I know this could be somethig redundant, but its easier to manage the data this way because managing an accessing the "BLOBs" in the workflow repository is not easy. Its there any advice in relation to this topic, any link or document ?

What I'm missing also within Process and Task Management Facade is the link between ProcessInstance and related TaskInstances.
I know I can get tasks for a user by Status or ID. But I see no way to get a set of tasks for a certain process Instance.
Will Process and Task Management Facade also be enhanced for SAP NW CE 7.3 EHP1?
Is it already known what new features will be available or is this information published during TechEd?

Flex data services and data managment.

Hi!
I have a question about data services with data managment enabled in Adobe Flex Builder 4. The issue is more theoretical than practical.
When I need to remove an item from the DataProvider I use the delete method of autogenerated service, but when I need to add or update item in DataProvider, I use methods of DataProvider ArrayCollection directly (addItem ...). When I try to remove item from the DataProvider with removeAt method, no changes made to database after commit. Why and how this stuff works?

Hello all,
I've been experiencing some performance issues with my Mac Book Pro lately (I've been having trouble using more than 5-6 tabs in safari or chrome while using itunes and Microsoft Word); I've bought this notebook in mid 2010. It's the 13-inch 2.4 Core 2 Duo with 4GB 1067 MHz DD3 ram. Now I've been running OS X Lion for a long time and to be honest I haven't experienced any major improvement on the performance aspect of the operating system (functionality probably went up) but never thought of going back to SL bevause I never actually tried to backup my data.
I had to make a fresh installation after my hard drive failed me so I went again from SL to Lion trying to give it another go but keeping a backup this time of all data in time machine. So my questions are the following :
1) I was informed that Lion does not fit oldest models quite well and Snow Leoppard might be a better option for a Core 2 Duo rather than the newest OS. Any feedback on that?
2) I'm leaning towards downgrading. I know I can simply go back by finding my first backup on the time machine. If I do that do I also loose all data stored up to this point? Is there an option of copying from Lion backups to SL OS ?
3) Should i be experiencing this level of performance? I mean I'm I just asking too much from the notebook to handle (given I only have 4 GB or memory)?
4) would you suggest rolling back or waiting for the next major update in a couple of months ?

Well initially I was thinking my hard drive was the issue (faulty) thus I've run the diagnostics apple requested and I did change the drive as they suggested. (quite funny process as my disk would oscillate between 20Gb of free space and 0Gb in t=3 seconds)
After that I simply stopped trying to sort anything out, looked into using alterntive software ( have been trying out chrome for the best part of the past 2 weeks ) and I eventually shut down the mac-book as soon as I'm done with any major job i need to finish. I simply couldn't afford any time on playing arround (other than running the normal disk utility repairs) as I'm in the middle of something rather too important to try on reinstalling everything.
I'm not a hard-core user. The MBP is left on sleep most time and it's used on word processing, safari itunes and in worst case scenarions fm2012. (definately not all in parallel). Is there a normal diagnostics procedure I could follow to dig something up ?

Data Manager Find- Replace

Can we do Find Replace in Data Manager, say on one field like street ?
for eg: I want to find all the "Avenue" or "avenue" and replace them with Ave
I know we can do it in Import manager, but is there a reason such functionality is not provided in data manager?
I browsed thru data manager guide and see that the menu option edit->find/replace is enabled only on object tables???!!
Can we achieve the same functionality through assignments?
Any inputs/leads appreciated!

you are right Varun,
Using Import maps was what we did originally for address standardization,
But Value Transformation is lost if you unmap the field and remap them.
And thats what happened to us and we didn't quite check it!
The Data Manager route which you and some others suggested will not work , atleast in my case because:
if you noticed in data manager
start a selection, with say one record
-> Add another record to the selection , you know, using the shift key
-> you will see the details pane highlighting the differences, so far so good
-> for street , I will not see "only Avenue", because
A) Avenue is part of a street
B) And data manager will not exactly "tokenize" the differences
C) for egL if I have two street values like " 120 pennsylvania Avenue" & "5th saks Avenue", detail pane will highlight them as two distinct values and I cannot change Avenue to Ave and get the Job done.
most importantly...
keep on adding more records to the selection...
When you reach 10 records, notice the detail pane still lists all the 10 distinct street address side by side for street field
Add on more record and make the selection 11
then alll the fields in detail pane will turn to [..]
So I can no more go in and replace Avenue , I have to replace the entire street value with watever I type in place of [..]
So here is my question again:
Why is there no functionality simple like Edit->Find-> Replace just like an excel interface, I am sure it is not technologically impossible, but rather is there something basic I am missing in wishing for such facility?

Data Manager - what exactly is/does that?!

Hi Specialists,
while checking my BW query times (using the technical content / statistics) I realized that the absolutely majority of time is spent for the "data manager".
So the next question was: What's the "data manager"? What is its function and how can I get more detailed information about the time-usage. How can I reduce the time needed in the "data manager"-step.
Could you please gimme some hints or links about that topic?
Searching the help.sap.com and the sdn (using the keywords "performance" and "data manager") didn't bring me far.

The Data Manager step in BI Statistics or an RSRT trace represents the database read time from your infoprovider. There are a number of ways you can improve this performance step (search for OLAP caching, aggregates, or BI Accelerator).

Data Manager Parameters

I need to copy data from one member to multiple members (to be selected dynamically) using script logic and data manager package.
Below is the script I am using

don't forget to add the version of BPC you are using, MS or NW.
What dimension with multiple members you need to use in the script?
Is this above the whole script?

Data manager package is Disabled in EPM Add-on

We installed EPM Add-on:10.0 SP 21 Patch 1.net 4. The Epm tab is working properly and Data manager tab is disabled.

MDM - Examples needed with Tables and Data

I am new to MDM. I just loaded the Console and Data Manager and connected to an MDM server. I am able to create a repository and browse in the Data Manager. However, I want to get some Table examples and data that go along with it. I am looking for a step by step guide to create some good tables and load actual data into it using a flat file or XML.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

MDM Repository Structure:-
Table Types in MDM Repository
1.Only one main Table.(Default name is Products)
2.Sub Tables
Lookup Sub tables are just one of the powerful ways that MDM enforces Data integrity in an MDM repository.
(Parent - Child Relationships)
3.Object Tables
It is special type of Lookup Subtables.It includes the images ,Sounds,Videos,Binary objects,Text Blocks,Copy Blocks,Text HTMLs and PDFs.You cannot store any object dirctly to the Repository.Instead ,each object is defined or imported into the repository once then linked to a main or subtable field as a lookup into the object table of that type.
[Object Tables eliminate redunt information ,since each object appears only once in the MDM repository even if it is linked in multiple records.]
4.Special Tables
Special Tables include Image variants,Masks,Families,Relationships,Work Flows,Named Searchs,Data Groups and Validation Group Tables.
[Data Groups and Validation Group Tables are does not exist in the MDM Repository.]
5.System Tables
System Table appear under the Admin Node in the console Hierarchy include roles,Users,Connections,Change Tracking,Remote Systems,Portas,Links..etc.
Creating Look up table.
1.Create Lookup Table(Type as Hierarchy,Taxonomy,Qualifier)
2.Add a Field in Main table
3.Set the type(Hierarchy,taxonomy,Qualifier lookup)
4.You need to enter or map the lookup table name and field.
5.When ever u add new record in the Lookuptable,You can able to use that lookup data in the Main Table Record creation.

Extraction and loading of Training and Event Management data (0HR_PE_1)

hello,
I've got the following doubt:
before BI 7.0 release, extractor 0HR_PE_1 extracts event data (eventid, attendee id, calday,...) but if you load straight to cube 0PE_C01, as Calendar year/month needs a reference date (for example, event start date), you'll get total duration of event in hours or days refered to event star date.
So in a query filtered by month, you get total duration of an event that starts in the filtered month but it couldn`t end until few months later o year later, so you don´t get appropiate information.
Example:
Event calday Hours
10004377 20081120 500 but from event_attr event end date is 20090410.
In a query filtered by 200811 you get total duration time (500 hours when in 200811 event hours have been 20) or if you filter by any month of 2009 you don´t get information of duration of that event.
I had to create a copy of standar cube (without calday, only Calendar year/month, Calendar year in time dimension) and disaggrate data creating as many entries for an event as months lasts and adjust calculation of ratios duration of event (duration of event in each month/ total duration of event).
The question is: Is there any improvement or change on business content in BI 7.0 to treat Training and Event Management data? Has anybody had to deal with that?

Training and Event Management booking date

Hi,
I am working on Training and Event Management cube 0PE_C01. One of the requirements of a query is to show the booking date of the course.
I have looked in business content for other cubes i have checked info object and 0event, i have also checked datasource 0HR_PE_1 but I can not find anywhere this information is being extracted into BW.
Does anyone know how if this info is available or would i have to ammend the datasource to bring this info in.
