  • ESS / MSS package compatibility

    Dear Folks,
I have a question regarding ESS/MSS business package compatibility.
We are currently on R/3 4.7 so I loaded 'BPESS46C504_0-20000613' business package for ESS on our portals.
Now I want to load MSS business package; I am not sure which MSS version should be loaded. Should I use MSS 50.4 or MSS 60.1 (both the packages support R/3 4.7). Will there be any compatibility issues?
    Please guide me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Deepak

    Hi Deepak,
MSS60.1 is not Web Dynpro based. Web Dynpro based business packages cannt be run against R/3 Enterprise. 60.1 is not based on Web Dynpro. It is based on Java iViews. Please go to
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio
    for more information.
60.2 is based on Web Dynpro and this one is not fully developed(and you cannt use it for R/3 4.7), you can use 60.1 in your case.
ESS and MSS both are seperate so no compatibility issues.
    Thanks
    Santhosh

  • Ess/mss package level

    Hi All,
    I have read the wiki - http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viepage.action?pageId=31476
I have a question on the levels
I can see that the support packages available on SAP Market place are on different levels  as below
    PCUI_GP 603 - available SP 6.0
    ESS 603 - available SP 7.0
    MSS 600 (603 not available) - available SP 18.0
Should I keep it all on 6? or can i have PCUI_GP on 6, ESS on 7, and MSS on 18? Please advise.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I hope this matrix clarifies the issue
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/HOWTOGETRIDOFSPSTACKMISMATCHISSUES
Please keep PCUIGP and ESS onthe same release. Indeed for MSS there's no EHP3 version (603) but you can follow the suggestion on the page I mentioned above. You can use MSS 600 SP18.
Both SAPPCUIGP07_0-20002356.SCA and SAPESS07_0-20002355.SCA are available on the service marketplace:
http://service.sap.com/patches -- Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group -- SAP Application Components -- SAP ERP -- SAP ERP ENHANCE PACKAGE -- EHP3 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 -- Entry by Component -- SAP XSS (Self Services).

    What is ESS
Employee Self-Service or ESS is a web-based solution designed to automate many of the repetitive tasks of the HR function
by allowing employees direct access to HR information and services. The basic idea of ESS is that employees are empowered to be responsible for their own personal information.
    Benefits:-
One of the major reason for organizations implementing ESS is that it allows HR professionals to spend less time in administrative tasks like paper filing,
attendance monitoring etc and more time dealing with more complex and strategic HR issues.
The Gartner Group had estimated that 40 percent of traditional HR activities were handled by ESS in the year 2000 and this can only increase over time.

1.As per my understanding HCM Processes and Forms ( Hiring, Transfer ,Maternity leave ,Termination ) needs

  • Wdjava  ess/mss code incompatibility while deploying in portal upgradation

    Hi Everybody,
As part of our requirement,I have  customized a standard ESS/MSS package and deployed in the current portal version and its working fine..Now when we are going for up gradation and deploying the code in the higher version of portal ,there is a incompatibility in the code.
So  can any body help me in this issue.like  what needs to done ,so that my customized code also works fine in the higher version of portal during upgradation
    Regards
    RRay

This happens because your NWDS development environment JRE version mismatch the portal JRE version.
Check which version you have in portal.
Compile your code in NWDS with same version of JRE.
    In NWDS refer
    WindowS -Preferences -Java -Installed JRes

  • Guided Procedures in ESS/MSS

Could somebody let me know what exactly is the use of Guided Procedures in ESS/MSS packages.
Points will be awarded for brief answers.

    Hi Lina,
Guided procedures are basically for enabling access to multiple backend systems, consistently combining different types of services and applications into processes.
CAF Guided Procedures (CAF GP) is a framework for modeling and managing workflows using simple and user-friendly tools.
Also, GP supports collaboration, ad-hoc items, and offline task management using interactive forms. It provides role-based access to tools and resources and guidance through the workflows at runtime, thereby helping end users to easily identify and complete their tasks.

Also we can know how you integrate existing applications and services into the GP framework
