GP60 Leopard webcam

Hey guys, I just got my new MSI laptop not long ago.
Just today I tried to open up my webcam. I couldn't find the driver anywhere.
I tried the Fn+F6 but it didn't work.
Are there any ideas how to solve this problem?

There is no need for a driver in either Windows 7 or Windows 8.
If you use FN+F6, it should enable it, and then you should be able to use it via another 3rd party program (such as Skype for instance). I don't believe that an app is included by default.
Ah thanks man. I got the problem solved already

hi! I bought a laptop GP60 leopard and ran into a problem when listening to music and other audio and video I interrupted sound. reinstall the audio drivers does not help. else noticed that the more I do the volume, the greater the sound is interrupted
When i connect headphones this problem is not observed.  what to do?
    windows 8.1

    Hello X-tremum,
Would you like to try the following scenarios to see if the interrupted sound still exist?
    1. Keep or remove Sound Blaster Cinema (for checking software cause).
    2. Using the AC adapter or using the battery (for checking hardware cause).
    3. Enable / Disable WiFi or Bluetooth device (for checking hardware cause).

  • Does new GP60 Leopard-836 have empty mSATA slot?

I'm looking at the GP60 Leopard-836 and am wondering if it has an empty mSATA slot. I've found information on previous GP60 releases, and some have them and some don't. Does anyone know for sure on the Leopard-836? Thanks!

What if you visit the review pages of notebookcheck, one of the GP60 is saying no mSATA slot within the design.
you may check the detailed review here...

  • Led keyboard & GP60 Leopard posssible??

    hi guys
i bought GP60 2PE Leopard model laptop and i want to change my keyboard with led one. Is this possible?

Sadly the GP60 Leopard doesn't support back light keyboard. In order to have a working back light keyboard, it must have a EC firmware which supports the back light keyboard. Since GP 60 Leopard doesn't support the back light keyboard, you won't find the supported EC nor the back light keyboard.

  • GP60 Leopard-742 temp question

Hi! Was wondering what's the normal temp for this model when it's idle and when it's running a game. I exchanged my leopard-10 for this one and for me, it seems like the former has a lower temp when it was idle than this one.
Without plug: GPU:39c CPU: 41-48c (though at the moment it's staying at 48)
When it's plugged, GPU goes up to 41 while CPU goes up to 54+
Haven't gotten the chance to get a program or game in yet, but when I do I'll update.
Thanks in advance! I just wanted to make sure everything is going ok with this one because when the box arrived today, it looked pretty banged up. =(

Given how thin the notebook is, I don't see this as unreasonable.
When it's unplugged it will downclock everything anyway, which is why the temperatures are lower when compared to the unit being plugged in.
There isn't much reason to worry until the temperatures start going past 90C under a heavy load.

  • Problem with new gp60 leopard

When I turn off the screen the fans start running fast and hard-drive seems to be very active. I already tried to turn off the Windows maintenance but it didn't help. I noticed that when laptop is running with battery the problem disappears. I have Windows 8.1. This is really annoying when leave my laptop to download something during night and it's really noisy.

    Thank you for your answers!
However, yes, I've turned on the x86 architecture (from the Finder the final executable is showed as "Universal"), and I'm using a Release configuration (I know that the Debug one uses ZeroLink and won't work); still, it doesn't work and prints the "Bad executable" message on the console. BTW, I've tried to change other options, as an example I've turned on static linking against the standard C++ lib, but without any success...

  • Keyboard Light upgrade

    Hey everyone
Firstly I don't know if this is in the right section
I recently purchased a GP60 Leopard. And I know its a cheaper model, but I love it :D
Anyway! I play with the lights off after work every night and the Leopard doesn't have keyboard lights. Now I was wondering if it was possible to install keyboard lights somehow or get some components from another MSI model to make this happen.
I have searched the forum/internet but to no avail. Also be nice, I'm new to PC stuff.
So glad I made the change though :D
    Thanks people

The best you could hope for, is that the GE/GT series keyboards fits into the notebook, and you MIGHT be able to permanently wire it up such that the LED's are ALWAYS on....so you could never turn them off. But I'm not even sure that would work. I know someone has done something similar, but I believe it was on a GE series notebook.

  • Custom BIOS requested for the MSI GP60 2PE Leopard

    Hi,
Is it possible to generate a BIOS update, for allowing the notebook to have 32 GB (2x16 GB) SODIMMs. It seems that the Memory Reference Code needs some adjustments to allow this. I got currently the MSI GP60 2PE Leopard (i7-4700HQ • 16 GB DIMM).
The currently available modules are IMM2G64D3LSOD8A-B15E or the IMM2G64D3LSOD8A-C15E from Intelligent Memory.
    With kind regards,
    Roland

    nope, can't do such modifications

  • Some webcam drivers (Quicktime Components) no longer work in Snow Leopard

I have two webcams, both of which worked before the update to Snow Leopard, both of which no longer work.
They are recognised by their own utility applications and I can see the video, but the QuickTime components used to transport this video to other programs eg Skype, simply do not work.
Does anyone know why this is? Is there anything that can be done about it?
Is it something about QuickTime that got removed or changed in the update? Can this be rectified? Does it require the vendors of these webcams to rewrite their drivers (I can't see why they should)?
    The webcams in question are:
Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000, previously working via a Sonix driver for the chipset it uses, that was modified to recognise the product ID of the device. Partially working with Macam.
Creative PD1000, previously working with the Macam component.
Macam works, just not the QuickTime component.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Have you updated Skype to the snow leopard compatible version?
Yes. Nothing to do with Skype, although latest version of Skype has huge problems on it's own anyway.
Many plug-ins need to be updated, and I wouldn't be surprised if you had a codec involved that might need updating as well...
Well that does seem to be the case, although I can't see webcam manufacturers updating their legacy products' drivers just for SL.
Does it require the vendors of these webcams to rewrite their drivers (I can't see why they should)?
You don't? Do you know about the 64-bit capabilities that are now part of Snow Leopard?
Uh, yes, but surely 32-bit plugins still work? System Preferences does just fine with 32-bit preference panes.. surely they wouldn't just yank out support for hundreds of old webcams without saying anything?
I'd really like to get Apple's official take on what's going on here. in the Macam forums, soo many people are reporting broken webcams under Snow Leopard.

  • HP Deluxe Webcam not working with Snow Leopard

All links to lists of webcams recommended for Mac OS X seem to be from the pre-Snow Leopard era, including the Mac Compatible Webcams site often recommended on these forums: http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/
The Mac Compatible Webcams site above recommends the HP Deluxe Webcam (KQ246AA#ABA), a UVC compliant model.
However, I can say from long and painful experience that the HP Deluxe Webcam does not work on my Mac Mini (2009 edition) running Mac OS X 10.6.1. I've tried many things to get it working, based on info in these forums and elsewhere, but with no success. Some apps detect and can use its built-in microphone, but none have been able to use the camera itself, including Skype, iChat, Photo Booth, macam, meebo.com, and probably others I can't remember.
If anyone has been able to get the HP Deluxe Webcam to work under Mac OS X 10.6, particularly on a Mac Mini, I'd love to hear about it.
For that matter, there is very little online generally about getting any external usb webcam to work under Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
However, today in a Mac-oriented computer store, before my very eyes the salesperson plugged a Macally IceCam2 webcam fresh out of the box into a USB port on a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard, and the IceCam2 worked perfectly and instantly. It really did plug and play. So unless I get enlightenment from this or other online sources in the next day or 2, I'm going to exchange the HP Deluxe Webcam for a Macally IceCam2. If nothing else, seeing whether it works equally well on my Mac Mini will be a good diagnostic measure.

    K T wrote:

    Why wait....go for it.
Good question. Two reasons: the store where I bought the HP Deluxe Webcam charges a 15% restocking fee on opened returns.
But more significantly, the HP Deluxe Webcam has received very good reviews and user comments online, whereas the Macally IceCam2 has received very mixed reviews, with more bad than good. Several reviewers and users raise the same negatives about the IceCam2: poor light sensitivity, bad colour distortion, and bad audio quality on its built-in microphone. And both webcams cost about the same.
So I've posted this question to a few forums and will wait a couple days to see if anyone can help me get the HP Deluxe Webcam working on my Mac Mini under Snow Leopard. If not, it's IceCam2 for me!

You control the camera for Skype from within Skype, so  Skype must be running to running to make video work.

  • Snow Leopard still cannot webcam using iChat and AIM?

Apple claimed that snow leopard will be able to use aim's server to control web chats when a peer-to-peer connection cannot be done. I purchased snow leopard on friday and I am trying to connect with my friend who has windows xp and aim 6.9 (we also experimented with aim 5.9). I dont get her screen and she does not get my screen (it just shows a black square) and yet it says "connected". With aim 5.9 we were able to hear each other but no video. Nothing with aim 6.9, just black.
Webcam works perfectly when we use oovoo or skype but I want to utilize the features of my mac and know that they are working instead of going through third-party applications.
Both of us have hardware firewalls on our ends (with windows and mac firewall disabled). All outbound ports are allowed, all inbound are blocked except for several ports which are defined in Port Forwarding.
    Please help me out
    Thanks

    Hi,
All outbound ports on both networks are opened to the public. Inbound ports to my network are only ports 3389 for remote desktop (to one of the windows machines on my network) and port 80 for a web server we host.
The reason I dont have any iChat ports opened up is because Apple announced that snow leopard will be able to use AIM's server as the video chat host when peer-to-peer calling is unavailable, which applies to my case.
We already tried initiating the video chat from Windows, it gives the same exact results when initiating the chat through the Macbook.
    Thank you

  • Mac OSX 10.5.7 Leopard can not detect webcam

    Hello Support,
I am using Mac OSX 10.5.7 Leopard in Safari and FireFox however Flash Player v 9 and 10 does not detect my isight webcam (firewire). I can not even change my settings to choose a webcam because the image that I get when I go to the settings is just a screenshot but not interactive. I have attached the picture.
Does Flash player work in Mac OSX 10.5.7 Leopard Safari and FireFox? I get as far as the allow or deny button, then I get a error message saying that my cam is not detected.
    Can you please advise.
    Thanks in advance

Man... gmax3100 have a POOR opengl performance under Mac Osx Leopard in 2d. It is NOT my problem but it is a known problem. Try to run some benchmark with gma950 and gma x3100.
    Macbook c2d 2.2 opengl performance x3100: 23.28
    MacMini cd 1.6 opengl performance gma950: 184.76
    it is a know problem:

    ecc.
exposè make 40fps and it is NOT fluid like a nvidia or ati card. Exposè is a simple animation, under arch linux and geforce3 (2001) is more more fluid respect leopard... and respect to tiger.
    with this hack:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver Compositor -dict deferredUpdates 0
exposè is much MORE fluid so it is a driver problem (because with tiger there's no problem!!)
I have NO problem with my macbook.

  • Built-in microphone of a usb webcam in snow leopard

    Hi,
This is probably a bug in snow leopard. Not sure if anyone has this issue.
I've tested 3 different webcam on this operating system. One is Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 (Mine's called Webcam Pro 9000, according to Logitech customer service, they are exactly the same products with different name on the box.), one is Logitech Mac Fusion, and the last one is Microsoft VX-5500.
All works under snow leopard except sometimes after wake from sleep or restart, the built-in microphone doesn't work anymore.
If I go System > Preferences > Sound and choose Input, the built-in microphone shows as "Unknown Audio Devices" on all three cameras, but there's no "bars" in the sound indicator below the volume control. Sound doesn't work in Quicktime X nor any other applications, but the video works perfectly all the time.
    Chi

Just want to add to this post:
The USB webcam's built-in mic that doesn't work seems to be magic mouse related. (Possible drivers or bluetooth related)
If I use a PC USB wireless mouse, after wake from sleep or a fresh restart, the usb webcam's built-in microphone works as charm. If I turn on magic mouse to wake the mac, the usb webcam's built-in microphone doesn't work. However, the video works just fine.
Another interesting discovery is that when I change the display resolution to 1080p (my mac's running on a tv), there seems to be flicker problem with the mouse pointer. The screen is just fine but the magic mouse pointer seems to jump around the screen. It doesn't happen when I use the standard PC USB wireless mouse.
Also, when the usb webcam's built-in mic stops working, the two-finger swipe function of the magic mouse doesn't work sometimes.
I'm not sure if anybody have the same issue but I hope this would help somebody troubleshooting the problem. I'm currently switching to a usb wireless mouse instead of the magic mouse and everything is now working just fine, even the built-in microphone.
