GPO Deployement of Blackberry Desktop Software 6.1 fail with the following error: user cancelled installation
Hello everybody,
I get an issue when i try to deploy the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Software using a Group Policy Objetc.
The package tries to install a the computer's startup but i can't find the product installed.
On the event viewer and after a rsop.msc i get the following error: User cancelled installation
I worked threw this link http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Unable-to-install-Blackberry-Desktop-... and i installed vcredist_x86 and msxml6 on the client computer but the problem is still the same.
Could anyone help me for this issue.
Over simple way to solve my problem would be to let me know where i can download an older version of Blackberry Desktop Software because there is a link on the website but it doesn't work.
Well folks. I've had enough.
The 9780 is a great phone, it's easy to use, practical and dependable. However, the Desktop Manager software has been giving me too many sleepless nights. On two occassions I must add: once at the end of last year when I bought it and only managed to solve it by myself after 4 weeks of trawling through online forums, blogs and other BB help sites and the recent one was last week when I tried to install it on my new Windows 7 notebook.
I know this is not entirely the fault of RIM, Microsoft also has a part to play. But considering the state of technology these days, it shouldn't have to be so difficult. I want a phone and software that makes my life easier and not have to be a slave to it by trying days and nights to solve its problems.
Hence, I have officially decom my phone and gotten an iPhone 4 instead. The switch ain't that difficult for me as I have always been platform neutral. As long it fits my needs, does it job well and doesn't give me too much headache, I'm cool with it.
Ciao folks!

Hey whats up..... I'm new to the playbook and I'm having serious problems trying to connect my playbook with the blackberry desktop software. when i tried connecting it, a small windows popped up, saying "blackberry desktop software cannot communicate with the connected device.............. and if error to update". So i did. I'd already backed up the playbook the day before so it was ok when the small windows said, "all data would be remove and playbook would return to factory settings". I did all the procedures and the blackberry desktop software still wont connect to the playbook. I tried uninstalling the blackberry desktop software and re-installing it, but the same thing keep on showing up. So i cant access my playbook.
Can someone plz help me????????
PS... My Playbook is on OS 2.1.0.1088 and is 16GB
I tried the updating method 5 times now and uninstalling and reinstalling the blackberry desktop software 7 twice. I dont know what else to do, and also Is there another way i cant access the playbook?

Blackberry Desktop Software will not Sync with Outlook
Hello,
I recently installed Blackberry Desktop Manager 7.1 for Windows on a PC and it will not allow me to sync with outlook calendar, memos and contacts. It will however sync windows Contacts, if I try to select the option to sync with calendar or memos it gives me an error that now compatible software can be found and to visit blackberry.com/desktop/docs. I am running Outlook 2010 32bit in Windows 7 with the latest Blackberry desktop software. I am not to familiar with Blackberry so any help would be greatly appreciated!Well I believe I have figured out the answer to my own question, I ended up having to do a repair installation for Office 2010 and I was able to sync from outlook to the Blackberry.

Blackberry desktop software doesn't connect with address book
blackberry desktop software version 2.4.0 doesn't connect with address book on a mac os lion (10.7.4). Sync contacts not possible. Use a BB 9500 v5.0.0.841 (plateform 4.2.0.380). Any solution ?
You have both Desktop Software and Link set to open when a device is connected to your Mac. You need to go to the settings of Desktop Software (I don't recall exactly what to do but there should be some settings in the top right corner) and set it to not open when a device is connected. Once you have it set to not open when your phone is connected, make sure that Link is set to open. That should resolve your issue.
Let us know if that helps you.

I apologize if this issue has already been handled in others' posts; I just can't locate my specific issue, and I'm a newbie with this.
I first encountered the Windows crash shown in subject yesterday when trying to sync my Blackberry. Message is displayed after the program churns for awhile, but hasn't even detected a remote device or shown that it is doing any work.
I vaguely recall agreeing to an update a few days back. Perhaps Windows has updated recently as well?
I have uninstalled and installed most recent Desktop version several times, rebooting in between. I have tried installing original version as well - Desktop at least starts then, but bombs before syncing anything. I also have rolled back my Windows system to before last Windows update.
Here is the error message that I believe is associated with this problem:

I finally solved my problem with blackberry desktop manager 6.0.1 by going bck to 6.0 version and here is how I did it, since the 6.0 version is not available on blackberry's website or on a disk and I have spent over 30 hours with BB tech support all to no avail in fixing 6.0.1 and enabling it to open.
1) Removed any Blackberry desktop software from my computer via the add/remove program in the control panel. No need to deal with a clean uninstall in terms of registry cleaner, etc.
2) Installed 6.0 which i was lucky enough to have backed up the intallation files from several months ago when I backed up my entire system to an external drive.
3) Opened BB desktop mananager and connected my device and configured my sysn with outlook and all worked out.
If anyone needs BB Desktop Manager 6.0 to go back to a version that once worked for you, please let me know and I will email it to you via yousendit.com since it is a 95mb file.

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
Hopefully something there is helpful!

BLACKBERRY DESKTOP SOFTWARE and OSX Lion
Dear all
I have a new MacPro with latest OS XLion and after installed blackberry desktop software all system started go very slowly.
I called Apple support and they told me that BB has not any update that works with new OS X Lion system and installing and sync with BB software is not suggested
Since this is an important issues as I'm using BB for professional work I'll need to have such synchronization possible. How can I?
Thank you for your prompt help

Well, to me, it doesn't seem correct that BB is not compatible with Lion !?
I am using at the moment of writing this message the latest BB desktop software on my MB Pro 15 "mid-2010" and os X Lion without ANY problem of speed.
Just had an issue with the transition to iCloud (as many other people) obliging me to "repatriate" manually all my calendar and contact files!
For the rest, everything runs smoothly on my MAC
Just check that you really have the latest version of the software through the update menu command.
Really? Here is the article from Blackberry: - Just talked to them AGAIN and the answer is that yes I will be in a continuos loop with over 25% of my entries changing every other time I synch. Stupid
Syncing calendar events from the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac causes multiple modifications to existing events
Article ID: KB25147
Product(s) Affected:
BlackBerry® Desktop Software (Mac OS)
Overview
When a sync is carried out with BlackBerry® Desktop Software for Mac and both the BlackBerry® smartphone and the calendar program on the Mac contain the same appointments or a large number of the same appointments the Mac sync alert appears showing modifications to those appointments already in the calendar on the Mac.
BlackBerryDesktop Software (Mac OS)
Mac OS
The issue occurs because appointments on the BlackBerry smartphone are categorized as 'public' or 'private'. The appointments by default are 'public' and a checkbox within the appointment details allows a user to mark it as private.Cause
As an example, iCal appointments do not have this categorization so when the sync takes places the BlackBerry smartphone data has this extra field being pushed and whilst iCal cannot display this data, the truth database in the Mac itself can store that information. This means that the data stored in the Mac truth table has this field added to its stored data.
The software is working as designed. Those modifications should be accepted.Resolution------
SOOOOOO - you accept and then synch - no problem. Close computer - open again - try to synch and get exact same message. Iphone is the answer. -
Blackberry Desktop Software "Out of Memory Message"
Very new to blackberry. Have had it two days. Dig it so far.
On a mac using the Blackberry Desktop Software, and tonight when updating the blackberry using this software, I started getting a message: "This device has run out of memory while synchronizing your Notes and Memos."
But in the Device Manager, it states that I have 1.2 Gb free memory, and on the blackberry itself it states I have 1.6Gb free. So I have plenty of memory. What's the cause of this error message, and how do I fix it?
Thanks.gordonscobie wrote:
I have been getting an 'out of memory' message when using twitter app. The message appears inside the twitter app at the bottom of the screen. My phone has plenty of memory - so does anyone know what is going on and what I can do about it. When I get the message the app stops working and I need to close and reopen it.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? or at least a hard reset?

Blackberry Desktop Software a Problem
I am pissed off trying to install Blackberry desktop Software on My PC. The CD that comes along with the Handset is a **bleep**, it doesnt work and my PC gets hang when i use it, although i tried to download Desktop software from Internet but then so the same is not getting installed. I am using Microsoft XP SP2 OS , But once the files are unzipped , it initiates windows installer and when we choose a language it closes down and dissapears.
I think Blackberry loses ground in terms of Softwares when it comared to close Rival Nokia, excellent supprot for software , where as i am fed up with Blackberry software support.
Zubin...Hi and Welcome to the Community!
A little research and details might help your situation...for instance, see here:
http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/system_requirements.jsp
If the version that came on that CD is 6.0.2 or later, then your system already does not meet the minimum requirements (XP SP3 is required). You'd need to use an older version unless you install SP3. Fortunately, RIM makes many different versions available for folks in exactly your circumstance:

Hi,
I hope someone can help clarify the following for me as i'm getting a bit confused by what i can and can't do..
I have recently upgraded my macbook with new memory and ram to help improve functionality as it's quite old now.
I have a Iphone 4s and it's apparant that i need to upgrade my operating software.
Can someone clarify what operating software i can get with the following macbook specifiation:
MacBook
Model identifier: Macbook2,1
Processor name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor speed: 2 GHZ
Number of processors: 1
Total number of cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4mb
Memory: 2 Gb
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Many thanks in advance
SimonYou can put two 2gb RAM sticks in your model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_GB_barrier
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/faq/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-3-g b-memory-limitation-details.html
OWC tests have found that there is a slight speed increase with having two 2gb sticks in rather than one 1gb and one 2gb. Your model is in the gray lines at the bottom of the graph. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Memory_Benchmark/Apple_MacBook/
You can upgrade from 10.4 straight to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.4 should run under10.6. See this list for compatibility with 10.6: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/ You might have to upgrade some drivers for printers, etc....
And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any Power PC applications http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/snow_leopard_installing_rosetta/ I recently upgraded an older MacBook (model 1,1) straight from 10.4 to 10.6.
Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store. The price is $19.99.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
