GPOs started 5 minutes after log in

Hello,
I have an Active Directory Domain controler.
I have defined GPOs, and among them there are start up scripts. I have noticed that those scripts start only about 5 minutes after being logged in.
Does any one have this issue ?

that's not a problem, it's by design, and it has been since Windows 8.1 Update 1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 Update.
There's a new GPO setting, "Configure Logon Script Delay", which you can set to 0 or Disable to execute logon scripts immediately (and return to the behavior of previous Windows versions).
You'll find it by opening GPEDIT, then in Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Group Policy.
The corresponding Registry key is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\EnableLogonScriptDelay (set it to DWORD = 0)
The geniuses at Microsoft thought this was a good idea.... go figure.

    I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
    And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
    And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

  • System switches to all caps minutes after log on.

    For some unknown reason, several minutes after I start up and log in, something happens that causes the keyboard to enter CAPS only. I've tried multiple keyboards and get the same result. The caps lock and shift keys have no effect. It's not just the caps, but other keyboard controls are not working either.
    The only way out is to restart completely. Any advice is appreciated.

    Press Shift five times.
    Look at Sticky Keys in the "Keyboard" tab of "Universal Access" system preference.

  • OS is slow for a few minutes after log in

    Hi,
    I operate in a two-user environment. When either of the accounts has been signed in, it takes a few minutes before programs start responding at proper speed. Even with all Login Items disabled, it can take several minutes for the OS to respond properly to launch or open commands.
    This can be such a hassle that I'll log the machine in and walk away for a while, just to get past this hiccup. My wife's PB G4 responds faster than my MBP during these initial login times, and neither her PB or my old G5 seem to have this issue.
    I'm running a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 2 GB of RAM and OS X 10.4.10. This machine is significantly faster than the G5 it replaced, but it seems to take a lot longer to normalize after login. Is this something with one of the later 10.4 builds, the MacBook Pro, or perhaps an OS issue I need to solve with a reinstall? Anyone else have this issue?

    OK, going on your suggestion to check Activity Monitor, I noticed a process called update_prebindin running and rerunning for the first 20-40 seconds of login. I did a Google on this and discovered that a small program I occasionally use called Rosetta is to blame.
    Apparently (and in paraphrasing here I could be getting it a bit wrong, but what the heck), the author decided to fix some bugs by launching this process as a workaround, even though this caused a speed hit during the first part of login - and in addition apparently it writes a bunch of needless files to disk, too! How irresponsible!
    He got around to actually fixing this back in March (when an OS X update from Apple apparently made it easier for him). I have suffered since then. I'm throwing away his application, even though I paid for it and occasionally use it. It's pure poison in my book.
    So the bottom line is, if you're using Rosetta or anything else from Unsanity.org, beware!

  • Long delay after logging in - WXP & M200

    Hi,
    When my M200 is running on batteries, most of the times I log in to the system from a cold start I have to wait for about two minutes after logging in. Opening the Task Manager learns that the CPU is idle, harddisk is idle, only few of the processes loaded; the system just seems to be waiting for something. Other programs than Task Manager cannot be opened.
    Around the time the delay happens, in the System section of the Event log the following error messages are recorded:
    . "Silent Running: Stress test transition: Dynamic -> Performance 3D", service "nv", event_ID: 106
    . "Silent Running: Stress test transition: Performance 3D -> LowPower 3D", service "nv", event_ID: 106
    nv seems to be nVidia, but reinstalling the display driver did not change a bit. When the system is running on AC power, the problem never occured.
    What is happening here & how do I solve it?

    Hi,
    in my opinion this relates to the power savings because the graphic chip is a Nvidia GeForce FX Go 5200 for notebooks. The chip is managed by the power savings and could be set to different modes.
    I search in the internet about these error messages and foud something. All opinion I had read said that this only a event log entry which doesn't matter. There are some more similar expressions for other events.

  • After logging into Windows 7, I have to double click several times on Mozilla in order for it to pop up. Then on the tool bar it will show that I have several open boxes of Mozilla.

    Mozilla will not open even after several tries. It eventually will but then I have several open Mozilla boxes and have to delete each one until I have just the one.

    Just sounds as though you're being impatient. Wait a minute after logging in and then double click the icon. It'll probably then load up straight away.
    Each time you double-click an icon it'll launch a new instance of the application. So what you're probably doing is double-clicking 7 times, which then causes 7 copies of FF to open when your computer catches up.

  • Launch a job N minutes after another

    It is me again, and I have one basic question that I haven't figure out by myself.
    How is it possible to constraint a job to execute only a certain period (let's say 15 minutes) after the end of its predecessor ?
    I thought that we could use preconditions but these objects can only tell to launch or skip its script and not to wait.
    Have you any ideas ?

    Hi Yi,
    The more common request is to have a job start x minutes after the start time of the predecessor. This can be achieved in a two-step chain, by applying a time window on the entire chain (which will determine the start of the chain and the first step) and another time window on the call in the second step which opens 15 minutes later than the first time window.
    Your request is also possible, for instance:
    - create a three step chain with a 15 minute sleep in the middle (not high-tech, but very efficient and clear in the monitor)
    - create a three step chain where the second step changes the start time of the third step (still clear in the monitor, and less running jobs)
    - create a job with a post running action (see doc) submitting the successor in 15 minutes

  • XOrg is maxxing out my CPU for several minutes after start [UNSOLVED]

    Since the last update, XOrg has been using 99% of my CPU power for about three minutes after it is started. This happens whether I am using Slim, console login, whatever; I checked with top and it is definitely X that is using up the CPU power. This happens on Debian as well as Arch.

    So I reenabled "glx" and "DRI" and everything seems just fine.  I believe the culprit in my case was simply the "NoAccel" flag being false by default.

  • 20" iMac takes 3 minutes to respond after log in

    as the subject reads, my iMac take about 3 minutes to respond to any keystrokes or mouse inputs.
    Hot corners do NOT respond, and the dock does NOT respond either.
    the mouse moves and the clock ticks but no inputs are allowed.
    i leave the cursor on the hot corner so i know when its done thinking and finally allows me to make inputs.(thats how i know its about 3 minutes or so until it works)
    all the log in items have been removed.
    still to no avail.
    im conducting a Verify disk and Repair disk now.
    will update soon.
    i google "my imac takes 3 minutes to log on" and found another person with the same problem but its a pay site, and im not paying... hahaha.

    How full is the hard drive? Have you repaired permissions on the hard drive?

  • CORESERVICESD takes 90%-100% CPU about 5 minutes after every fresh start

    So, coreservicesd process takes 90-100% cpu after a fresh start. It doesn't start immediately after login but about 3-5 minutes after, and it happens +every time+ i start my computer and it lasts about 10 minutes or so before it stops eating the cpu.
    I haven't figured out any way to stop this behavior. I've reset smc, emptyed /Library/Caches, clean installed Snow Leopard (without restoring from Time Machine backup) but nothing seems to help.
    Does anyone here know what to do in my situation or does anyone have any new ideas what should I try to do? I appreciate every response.

    OK folks, problem solved. At least mine is. No coreservcesd eating cpu anymore! Hurray! This is the second time I boot and the computer seems to run perfectly. If the coreservicesd problem comes back I'll report here.
    So, what did I do:
    1. Changed from 64 bit kernel + extensions to 32 bit.
    2. Uninstalled SpiceRack and MozyHome Backup preference panes.
    3. Repaired Premissions
    4. Cleaned User Cache
    5. Cleaned System Cache
    6. Cleaned All Users Cache
    7. Rebuilt Launch Services
    8. Forced Empty Trash
    9. Removed Corrupt Preferences
    10. Updated Prebindings
    11. Reindexed Spotlight
    12. Cleaned Archived Logs
    13. Cleaned All Logs
    14. Flushed DNS Cache
    15. Removed .DS_Store Files
    16. Cleaned All Browser Caches
    17. Updated Whatis Database
    18. Updated Locate Database
    19. Cleaned Font Caches
    20. Booted from SL install dvd and ran Disk Utility's repaid disk & repair premissions.
    After these operations my mac runs faster and all errors in the Console log are gone! All steps (except 1, 2 and 20) can be preformed with different maintenance apps. I used an app called MainMenu.

    I did this;
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.

    the 'permissions' are sometimes wrong, but they repair
    the hard drive is either repaired or OK
    the iMac will then restart and work fine and sometimes shut down and restart OK
    after replacing the Hard Drive I actually thought I had fixed it and went to bed late but happy,
    on waking in the morning, however I was not so happy it fired up and then died after dong -> apple logo -> spinning cog -> dead!!

    here we go -- after running disc utilities it tells me directory OK and disk OK (or something like that) When I replaced the Hard Drive, I started 'fresh' erased/formatted the hard drive (new Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB) and it has just got 'tiger' on it (and upgraded to whatever it is now I think I remember 4.11, I can't tell at the moment as I have got the back off) I didn't transfer any data I just took the old drive (Seagate 160GB) out and stuck the new one in.
    I've just changed the battery (I didn't really think it would work, but I was still hopeful and I'd bought the battery anyway) I did the LED thing, the internal power button thing, and the resetting the SMU thing (with crossed fingers and bated breath) but -- so I'm thinking is it the power supply? I read some of Jim's weighty, but worthy tome and resolved to remove the power supply and have a look. On opening it up, it does look as though, one (at least) of the capacitors has 'blown' (by the way, just in case I sound like I know what I'm talking about, I don't of course, I'm just quoting Jim's words;-) I'd love to send you a picture of the inside of the power supply showing what I believe to be a 'blown' capacitator (and I'm going to try to send one to Jim as I think it might be useful to him and others. can I attach a photo in any way or would you like to send me your email address <Edited by Moderator>

    I suppose it is serious bug in Mac OS Lion managing FileVault and wonder what the help could be?

    Most likely culprit is your Lacie drives which are notorious for flaky power supplies which cause just the sort of erratic behaviour that you describe. Have had similar issues myself. Lacie has been good about replacing my power converter-- twice. If you have seven of them, good luck finding the bad one or more. Like I said, the behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it'll work sometimes not. I can't comment on Samsung drives because I've never used them and have never heard anything about them. Same with Softraid. Why not just use Disk Utility. Sounds like you're ready for an external hardware raid. This will be much faster, much more reliable, and may even be cheaper than seven firewire drives.
