Hello everybody, i am newbies here like to inquiry about the GPRS & EDGE manual setting on IPHONE? May i know step by step to get setting manually? Where to put APN(access point name)? Thank You for reply ASAP.

EDGE settings are fixed and non-modifiable. You can set up a WiFi network by going to SETTINGS>Wi-FI>ON. Then you join a network and enter your password. Full instructions can be found in the iPhone users guide.

MS Exch Acc not syncing - manually setting it in iPhone or through iTune

Hi, I have confugured the MS Outlook in my personal laptop to work with my work email. The new iPhone seem to support MS Exchange account. Although I could setup my yahoo and gmail account pretty fast, I have failed to successfuly setup the MSEx account yet, both by manually setting it up in iphone or by opting to sync mail accounts through iTune which is supposed to copy the account settings details.
While setting it up manually it 'failed to verify account' whereas in the iTune under the 'Info' Tab for Mail Accounts option, although I tick to 'Sync selected email account from: Outlook', it never actually displays any account name, in the box below. It does show me this for Calendars and my iphone calendar syncs with my work calendar from Outlook on my laptop.
Those documented tips on the apple website like, if you have enterted the domain name then remove it and see if it syncs and if you don't have it entered and enter the domain name and 'see' if it syncs' hasn't helped. My outlook login does require the domain name so i have entered it in the phone too but after reading this tip i tried after remving it and it still couldn't retrieve emails.
I found some utility on apple website that is meant for confuguring the acount setups on your PC. 5.17 MB file size i downloaded the version for Windows but after installation I dont see any option in the menu where i could launch an 'application', set email account setting possibly with advanced/customised details which the phone email setup doesn't ask for.
Has anybody setup their work emails on iphone without any IT help from office? If yes was it as simple as fill the form and emails retrieved? Considering what I have tried so far am I missing step for successful setup or is there any other option left to setup MSEx emails? Please help.

I was browsing my account and saw thsi question i had posted long back. A couple of months back while at my attempts to setup my work email i was able to do this successfully. Not with the account details I had used during the Outlook setup for my laptop but with the details used for webmail. My employer also has webmail which one can use to access emailout of office network on the go. i keyed in the address ID and password and it worked. I was like wow and I tried so hard the other way.

i am in thailand right now with my iPhone 3G 16 GB (italian, no SIM-lock, 2.2). my problem: the iPhone does not send emails via GPRS/EDGE of local AIS mobile provider (there is no 3G in thailand right now). each time i try, i will get a prompt saying 'cannot send mail, the connection to the outgoing server "mail.gmx.net" failed'.
in germany, i use a contract SIM from o2, in thailand a prepaid SIM from AIS. i have configured 2 german pop mail accounts on my phone (gmx.de, o2online.de). receiving and sending email work fine on WLAN (everywhere, also here in thailand) and in germany on 3G/EDGE/GPRS. internet works everywhere, too. so, configuration seems to be okay. for each account, i use the same (smtp) sending server for all networks (ie i do not change configurations, using mail.gmx.net and pop.o2online.de). for a test, i changed smtp server to the AIS proprietary server mail.cscoms.com, but no change in behaviour.
so, any ideas how i can get my iPhone to not only receive but also send emails via GPRS of AIS?

ok. i found the solution.
The problem is not in the iphone, the problem was DNS resolution in the server side.

No network on 309a, no manual set either!!

just picked my new 309a printer, i want to connect it to my router so it can be shared with the laptop downsatirs etc. wnr 2000 netgear router
when plugged in is does not even recognise that its plugged in to the router ( no lights on the network port on back).
i cannot manual set the IP etc. as it wont save ot and just goes back to 000.000.000.000 every time.
i have tried different network cables and different ports etc but still no luck. i have a real old hp 2600n laser printer which is about 4 years old and even that connected in 2 mins to the network no problems...
plus my iphone does not find the blue-tooth on the printer!!! ( is it compatible with an iphone so i print stuff direct from the phone on blue-tooth )

Turn off the wireless radio on the printer (so the blue light goes out). Make sure the cables are completely pushed in on both ends.
If all this fails, reset the printer by turning it off, hold # and 6 keys while and a bit after turning it back on.

Is there a way to use only WiFi for internet / OVI store / Community connections always? And Never use GPRS / EDGE at all?
(i.e) Is ther a way to disable GPRS and EDGE without affecting WiFi in Nokia C3-00?

Try the following steps:
You can set the WLAN or Wi-Fi to the highest priority so it will not connect to GPRS. To do this, go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > WLAN > Saved WLANs > Select which WLAN that you want to connect > Options > Organise priority.
Once done, set the packet data connection to when needed. This settings will establish a packet data connection when needed by an application. The connection is closed when the application is closed. You can set that by going to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Packet data > Packet data connection > When needed.

What are your "Import" settings? If you set the "Version name" in the "Rename Files" brick to "none", the filename will be used.

Why I can't see in ICLOUD all the contacts I entered manually in my iphone

I noticed that when I signed into ICLOUD I don't see all the contacts I have entered manually in my Iphone and I don't understand why when my Iphone is backup every day.

There is a difference between a backup to iCloud and having your phone set to sync Contacts (and other things) to iCloud. A backup to iCloud stores data on iCloud that you cannot access for any purpose other than doing a full restore to your device (e.g. in the event of a problem or when switching to a new phone). Contact sync to iCloud on the other hand is controlled by Settings > iCloud > Contacts. Remove you previous MobileMe account. (after making sure anything important is backed up).

In gMail Webmail you must check prefs to allow IMAP insteaad of POP.
Gmail send but not receive...
Here are two steps that have come in handy in related situations
1) login to gmail on your computer or device via a web browser
2) once logged in successfully, go to this URL to unlock:
https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptch
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
Or duplicate entries in Keychain Access.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
The receiving email ports are:
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

Are you leaving the box unchecked to Manually manage music & videos? You don't need to to add anything to the iPhone.
Simply drag the playlist to the iPhone to manually add it.

I have had the same problem with iPad recently not too sure why it happened but if you are completing a full reset anyway the easiest way is the restore via itunes on your computer and then set up a new passcode again. Resetting via itunes doesnt require a passcode so it should go straight through.

I know I can see the dimensions with the info button in the right side bar, bug I want to edit those values.
Is this possible?

You can set the dimensions before using the rectangle tool in the
tool options bar (fixed size).
Or you can change the dimensions after, by using the move tool or Edit<Free Transform Path
and entering the dimensions in pixels (px) in the width and height boxes.

All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.

[Solved] PCMCIA gprs/edge and wvdial, don't work

Hi all...
I have bought a pcmcia gprs/edge Lightspeed EDGE-100M, but don't work.
I load the modules pcmcia, pcmcia_core, rsrc_nonstatic, yenta_socket (I have found they whit hwdetect --show-pcmcia).
PCMCIA it comes recognized like ttyS0.
I run wvdial but I got "Modem not responding".
I have also added line "options usb_serial vendor=0x0279 product=0x950b" into /etc/modprobe.conf but I don't got any results.
