GPRS/GSM Signal Booster

Can anyone recommend a GPRS/GSM signal booster solution? I am looking to boost the GPRS/GSM signal in a sports hall to help service chip n pin transactions.
I have looked into getting analogue lines installed and other alternatives but this seems to be the only method of processing the transactions.
I am looking to put an antenna on the roof and fit an access point inside the building, connected via coax.
Any suggestions on vendor/device?
Thanks

below is a link to some repeaters for cells for cars, for this to work you will still need a weak signal to start with it can not create a signal out of thin air.

But yes they do sell repeaters for cars

  • Is there is signal booster I can use to get better reception for 3G on my ipad? My reception is between 1 (which doesn't work) and 3 bars and it never reverts to Edge. Thanks

Hi, I'm new to this new format for the forum so I may make lots of errors.
My 3G IPAD only gets between 1 and 3 bars when I use 3G at home which is a lot. When its at 1, I can't use my IPAD online at all. I have the original IPAD, 16G, with 3G. My operating system is 4.3.5.
I called Apple support and they connected me to ATT and they didn't know what the problem was. I told them it didn't revert to Edge and they said that's because it can't find the signal. They said I could get a new SIMS card if it didn't work in town but yesterday I took it to town and it got between 3 and 5 bars so I didn't pick up the SIMS card yet.
So I was wondering if anyone knew of a signal booster that will increase the 3G signal so at least it stays off of 1 where I can't use it. I use this mostly at home because my internet connection keeps dropping too so I rely on my 3G 50 percent of the time.
Or does anyone have any other ideas?
    Thank you.
I used to be mpoinar but that account is no longer accepted here so I had to create a new one. sigh.

Hi, I just watched the video for the Microcell and you have to use your broadband connection to get it to work and the problem is my broadband connection is down the times I'm using my 3G. That's why I use it, because my broadband connection is not working so much of the time.
    Any other suggestions? :-)

  • I am trying to find a portable cell phone signal booster

I am away from electricity and there are too many spots where I need a signal boost in order to do my work.
Does anyone have any recommendations for anything that I can use to boost my iphone signal so I can use Siri easier to dictate but runs on battery power and not an electrical outlet or car charger?
    Thank you.

    @macnpchz
There no portable cell boosters available, but you can ask your cellphone provider about mini towers for your home.  If you have AT&T, they use MicroCell.  I currently use this at my home and I love it.

  • Vga signal booster

can you buy a vga signal booster to allow the mac mini to work on any crt monitor?

It seems to me it would be better and make sense to just buy a computer that actually worked right out of the box without needing a VGA signal booster. Wait until next week to see what new stuff Apple releases at Macworld.

  • MacBook Pro as a Signal Booster?

    Hey,
My Macbook Pro (13" Late 2011) has a full WiFi signal at home but my iPhone 5 barely connects to the same network.
Is there a way connect my iPhone to the WiFi through my MacBook? (As a signal booster)
    Thanks in advance.

You can share your Ethernet connection to other devices using WiFi. This turns your MacBook into a primitive Router.
You cannot both connect via WiFi and share via WiFi.

  • Generic Cellphone Signal Booster needed (UK) medium size office

    https://www.myamplifiers.com/?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=UK%20-%20Srch%20-%...
Try this site out.  My coworker has a signal booster at his house.  Without it he would have no cellular access at all.

From what I can see this is a question which has been asked before but the only products and sites suggested are non UK.
Again from previous posts I can see that the "boosters" are not rated very highly but I am hoping that the combination of wi-fi and a signal booster might fit the needs of our business.
    Any one have any ideas?

  • Internet signal booster?  Is there one available?

    Hi,
I had to relocate my router to a different location to ensure a strong wireless Internet signal for the desktop computers. However, when I go outside, my signal is too weak for my macbook to connect. Can anyone recommend a signal booster I can get to help strengthen my wireless connection for my macbook?
    Thank you!

What base station do you have right now?
Some base stations support external antennas, which can be an inexpensive way of increasing range.
If yours doesn't, then you may be able to get a second base station and setup WDS (Wireless Distribution System) where the second base station acts as a relay back to the main base station (that's connected to the internet). Again, this depends somewhat on the make/model of base station you already have since not all of them support WDS (Apple's do).

  • Usb signal booster?

    Hi,
I just got a Macbook earlier this month(life long pc usert)
the apartment bldg I live in has free wireless internet but im on the top floor and i assume the internet is on the bottom floor or even the basement. My signal is always weak around 1 bar 2 bars max if i sit literally on the window sill.I was wondering if there was a usb wireless signal booster thingy I can purchase at circuit city or radioshack or whatever to boost my signal to full strength it would also help out a the library too cause the signal is also weak there too but i do lots of research there so i need the signal strong. Thanks guys in advance.

Hmmm, the theory's interesting, but i would recommend getting the apartment transmitter improved (i realise this won't be easy). Simply put, boosting the received signal (if there's kit out there to do this) will increase signal errors significantly, and therefore will give crappy performance.
Also, remember that you're going to be shouting pretty loudly, which could attract snoopers to your network packets, so get some security, or avoid using the connection for sensitive communications (personal details, banking etc...)
If I were you, i'd offer to buy a second wireless router for your floor instead of the booster and ask the apartment owners to run a network cable between the two (Even Cisco Systems routers are relatively cheap) and configure it, just remember that the cable length should ideally be less than 300ft between routers! :D) -j

  • Signal booster box

My Vodafone contract runs out soon and I'd switch to BT mobile but reception here is poor so I'm using Vodafone's SureSignal box that works fine. Is there anything similar available from BT? I've seen a suggestion it might be incorporated into a new HomeHub at some point but no date.

I was about to post near enough the same query. My contract with Three ends in late May and I would like to switch to BT Mobile (unless Three can offer me a deal similar to or better than what I have now, which I am doubtful of, given that I am currently on the now discontinued Ultimate Internet rate)
Though my area is supposed to get decent 3G coverage, my building in particular has always had a poor, almost non-existent mobile signal. Three provided me with a free Signal Booster box soon into the start of my contract, which plugs into my broadband router and gives me an exceptional mobile signal in my home.
I would like to ask BT if they would be able to provide a similar device to what David and myself have now should I sign up to BT Mobile next month. It would be kind of a deal breaker for me personally, as I never use my landline to make calls, so I need a good mobile signal at home.
I would be willing to pay for a signal improvement device, so I hope those in charge of BT's Mobile division will implement this assistance to customers in poor coverage areas if they don't already. Before anyone suggests I go on BT's website and enter my postcode in coverage checker, I have done this already, like I have done with all the major mobile networks, and as I say, the majority of them say I can get good 3G in my area, but I can assure you that, for whatever reason, I do not!
Please reply to this thread with any details on signal improvement that you can furnish us with. Thanks :-)

  • Signal booster for cell service

Seeing if anyone has any suggestions on this one.  We have iphones.  We WERE on ATT, which has horrible service where we are.  So we purcahsed a Micro Cell tower when we had ATT numbers.  But then we decided to go to another service, except this service still USES the ATT towers. The Micro Cell ONLY works with ATT phone numbers.
So now that we have different numbers, the Micro Cell is no longer any good.
Does anyone have any suggestions what brand SIGNAL BOOSTER we could get that would be good for ANY SERVICE, not just ATT??
    Thanks

Thank you so much for trying that out claymeijer,
This is definitely an odd one! Let's deep dive in to this and make sure we cover all bases. Please ensure that you've added your numbers to the contact list via My Verizon. Here are the steps: http://vz.to/196jt5g
Also, please ensure your router has  current firmware. This can be checked by visiting your routers website.
If issues persist, we would want to connect you to our Network Extender department.

  • Signal Booster Causing Problems

Can someone out there explain how the following can happen. After initially receiving FIOS for HDTV, I was experiencing no audio, video or functionality problems. Suddenly I was unable to connect to the server for PPV or use the select function to browse. "Server not available" was the screen message. A FIOS tech assessed that weak signal was causing the router to not stay current with the guide and also prevented server connectivity. He replaced the router and installed a Motorola signal booster which not only solved the problem but increased my internet speed and picture quality . However, after he left I discovered HD channels 900 and up and 750 were not viewable. "Not Available" was the screen message. How can the signal booster selectively prevent receiving certain channels. A FIOS tech is coming back today as all efforts by the office to re-boot and send authorization codes and tests failed. HELP!!!!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

A happy ending. Two FIOS techs arrived and replaced a 15 foot run of cable from a splitter that I had installed (signal loss), and reduced signal strenghth to the router as it was too hot with the PDI MOCA power booster. Somehow this combination solved both the failure to be able to connect to the server, and reinststed channels over 900. Go fugure. The logic of needing both a booster and a reducer does not compute.

  • Signal Booster Options for poor service signal in home

The new home I am moving to gets really poor signal (seems to be just in the yard and house ~3 acres) everywhere around home gets signal. What would be a good signal booster option so I can get calls in my home? Zipcode 56759

At this moment, I believe your only option is the network extender, which is currently a Samsung model. You would hook this up to your home internet connection. Limitations are it is only 3G and not LTE.
Future, Verizon has said they will be releasing an LTE network extender. Also Verizon announced in the fall of 2014 they will support wifi calling with supported phones sometime in 2015. Both are still not concrete on dates, so I would not count on them right now. Just be aware that if you get the 3G network extender, it will be obsolete in less than a year.

  • Signal booster for iPhone / AT&T domestic service

I have an iPhone 3G but live in a small town in NH, where AT&T wireless signals are poor. Does anyone know about any sort of signal booster either for the iPhone itself or which can be set up in my house to better pick up an AT&T wireless signal? Thanks.

ATT has announced a microcell booster. You'll have to contact your local ATT office for pricing and availability.
