GPS Causes 3G and Voice Connection Loss!

Ok, on my Droid X....
If I enable GPS, and open an app that requires GPS, such as Google maps.....it disconnects my 3G and voice connection.
Please offer any suggestions to cure this.
Thanks!
Bill

it seems like maybe its a coincidence that the hardware gps went out about the same time.
Thanks for the tip. Downgraded with no change. It seems that its either gps on and no connection or connection/data and no gps. They refuse to be on at the same time.
Called CS today, they think its a hardware issue and I agree. Getting a replacement sent.

  • N96 - GPS local maps and voice guided navi for 3 m...

I see on the box of the N96 :
"Including local maps and voice-guided navigation for three months"
So after 3 months there is no local maps and voice ?
    Why that ?
Even a cheap GPS at 100 euros has maps and voice forever
I dont understand. I have paid the phone and his features or not ?

I have to disagree with you there.
The system is designed to suit all users, not just those that use the phone for navigation in the car. Plus many people won't use the phone for navigation but will use it as an interactive map book.
Also with all the new and upcoming location based services that nokia now offers it is very important to have up-to-date maps.
If we had to pay for map updates then many of the location based services wouldn't be accurate or worth using.
So for a phone based navigation program it makes much more sense to get free maps. Obviously they have to recoup the map costs from somewhere so they have to charge for the navigation feature.
For dedicated in car sat-nav systems such as tom toms then it makes sense for them to give you the navigation for free. They make their money by charging you for new maps and maps for other countries.
So in some ways nokia's system is better because you have maps of most of the world totally free. It's also the only system that could suit the majority.
At the end of the day no one is forcing you to use nokia maps either. If you don't like it then install a program like garmin XT. This program is like in car sat-navs where navigation is free but you pay for maps. A very expensive option if you travel to many countries.

The main problem is not so much the speed but the fact that without fail, after going online via wifi on a laptop, phone tablet etc, around 5 minutes later the light starts to glash orange and connection is lost for about 10-15 minutes. it then seems to sort itself out but the speed is always then really slow.
I have tried one suggestion on here after searching which was to download an app to check the other wifi connections and change manually to a different channel, but have tried loads of different channels and nothing has helped.
    I have tried different microfilters
i have tried moving the router nearer to the socket and away from any other electrical devices etc.
I live in flat and there is no master socket as such, there are three sockets in the flat but i have connected the broadband to the one that i can clearly see is fed directly from a cable coming in the wall from telphone pole outside.
I cant do the silent line test at this moment as i do not have a landline to try this but will try and obtain one and try that
I have just purchased a better quality shorte rj11 cable but this has not arrived in the post yet.
    Any suggestions?

  • Internet connection loss using Airport Extreme and Netgear DG843

    Hello,
I am accessing internet via a Netgear DG834 router (not wifi), connected to an Airport Extreme base station. Most of the time, I can access internet through the Wifi network of the AEB without any problem. But around once a day I am experiencing connection loss and the only way I found to restore it is to reset the Netgear Router by physically unplungging it.
Both the Netgear and the AEB have up to date firmware, so I suspect some kind of problem in my setup, as I am not an expert in setting up networks.
Is it possible that using a Netgear Router connected to the AE (which is also a router if I understand correctly) could cause connection problems ?
I am at a loss, and do not even know how to describe the relevant informations of my current setup. If a kind soul could help me nonetheless, I would be very gratefull.

    Yes.
Ensure that that the AEBS is configured to not distribute IP addresses.
Also ensure that the AEBS is on a different channel to the DG834G.

  • Windows server 2012 and windows xp remote desktop connection loss

I am having this problem for a month now, and i am stumped with trying to find an answer . I have talked with several network admins in my area and with no luck i have not found a solution. I have a windows server 2012 placed with 5 pcs that are connected
on a local network , those 5 pc's connect to the server via remote desktop. List of pc's:
    1x Windows 7
    4x Windows XP SP3
All have the latests network drivers, all have the latest version of remote desktop installed. All have been scanned for viruses. All have antivirus software.
Problem is the 4 XP machines lose connection on when connected via remote desktop. If one starts losing connection the other 3 start to lose the connection aswell. The windows 7 machine is not affected by this it works fine.
    What have I tried:
    Scanning for viruses.
    Disabling Firewall and antivirus software.
    Updating all drivers.
Did many changes to group policy like keepalives etc.
    Turning off SMBv2 SMBv3.
Turning off network adapter Offload settings.
Changed some registry settings like keepalive, smb etc.
Updating every pc and server with all windows updates.
    Changed the router and switch.
Port forwarded needed ports like 3389.
    Updating remote desktop to 7.0.
I might be forgetting some stuff i will add as i remember anything.
So the thing is this. I use a Windows XP machine from my office I remotely connect to the server via the Internet and I DO NOT experience any connection loss. BUT the XP machines on the local network constantly experience connection loss via remote desktop.
I pinged every Machine from the server via CMD command PING. So when they lose connection the Packets get time outs . Packets get dropped between 1-10 packets when a connection is lost. This packet drop does not occur when using the internet or anything else.
ONLY when connected to the server via remote desktop. The packets get dropped at random intervals.
Problem is I use an XP machine and I am not experiencing any loss of connection , while the XP machines on the local network experience it , but not the windows 7 machine.
Router is ASUS RT-N53 , and switch is Dlink DES-1008D. Server is a Dell PowerEdge T110 II.
Can someone please tell me what can i do to solve this problem?

So today got some word from their office. They were using RDP from 8AM until 12PM all was working fine. Then got back after lunch about 1PM and got a few connection lost errors when they tried using RDP again. Its weird since they didn't have disconnects
in the morning, and started having them after lunch.
Also noticed, that two pc were not using RDP and were disconnected as shown in task manager. And they still got request timeouts.
Maybe this is not a remote desktop issue?

Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Connectivity loss between PLC and Kepware

    Hi Experts,
I m working on SAP PCo and PLC connectivity using Kepware.
I m trying to find out ways to find connectivity loss between
    1) PLC and kepware
    2) kepware and PCo
For 2nd approch,if connectivity loss is there then PCo instance will go in error state and using remote monitoring we can get alert.
But m not able to find any way for 1st approch.
If PLC connection lost then only tag quality in kepware is bad.
Is there any way in PCo expression editor to check tag quality so that i can trigger MII transaction?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Neha

To add to Hubrisnsx's comment ... are you provisioned Ethernet or MoCA for the WAN connection?
Edit: Never mind, I see in the first post you said MoCA.   So, if the MoCA channel is staying up, then it sounds like it might be something inside the ONT.
Keep in mind that while some Verizon folks do drop by these forums from time to time, that this is primarily are user to user forum where customers can help one another.

  • Loss of Phone and Data Connection

I have lost all phone and data connection with AT&T on my iPhone 3Gs. Yet my wife's non-Apple phone has fine connection.
    Is this a iOS4 problem?
AT&T said they reboot my phone remotely, but that did not help.
Any suggestions? Other than buy an Android.

I'm having the exact same problem. It just started happening over the last 3 days but it worked fine before that. I upgraded to ios4 the day it came out but didn't start experiencing these problems until 3 days ago. I'm in Canada on the Bell network.
If it turn the off and on again it will work for a little while but then I will lose service again sometimes a few minutes later and sometimes a few hours later.
I've tried shutting it down and starting it and rebooting it and nothing has fixed this.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

  • New FIOS customer with dropped VOIP calls and Internet connection

I am a new FIOS customer. Got my 50/25 connection a week ago, switching from a TWC 6/1 connection. Ever since the new connection, I've had numerous issues.
My VOIP (Ooma) connection constantly drops and re-connects during conversations
I've had random Internet connection losses, which picks up again after a few minutes
My home alarm starts chirping every once in a while
I've contacted Verizon several times due to these problems and have received varying answers with no resolution of the problem.
The first time I spoke with support, the tech logged into my router and changed the WiFi channel saying that would fix the problem. It didn’t.
The second time I contacted them, the tech ran a bunch of diagnostics and said everything looked fine so it must be an IP address conflict with my devices, because I had a couple devices using static IP addresses. He said everythinf should be DHCP and the last two digits could not be higher than 99 (192.168.1.99). He said FIOS does not support 3-digit numbers at the end.
So I changed all my devices to DHCP and ran some online VOIP tests. It showed a packet loss of 2-5% and MOS score of 1 (which is bad). I was still getting dropped connections, so I disconnected all devices and connected just one computer to the router and tested again. I was still getting packet loss.
Then I called support a third time, this time the tech said there were no 2-digit IP restrictions and that he was detecting there was no UPS baterry backup for the ONT which was probably causing the problem, so he dispatched a field tech to my house.
Today the field tech came (same guy as before), he took one look at the box and said it was too close to my Electric meter and the RF from the meter was causing interference to the FIOS connection and resulting in dropped connection.
He moved the ONT to another location and said that should fix it.
Well, I'm still seeing packet loss and low MOS score when I run the VOIP test.
I don't know how much of what the techs are saying is true and how much is made up stuff.
Has anyone had similar issues and have thoughts on solutions or likely causes for dropped VOIP calls and connections? Could RF be causing this?
I thought going from a 6/1 Cable connection to a 50/25 FIOS connection would be awesome, but this has turned out to be a nightmare, and I may have to switch back to cable if the problem is not resolved.
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

Don't know where the packet loss is happening. I ran the VOIP test on myspeed.visualware.com and it shows a packet loss of 2-5% at different times and a MOS score of 1.
The report says MOS should be around 4 for good VOIP calls.
The Verizon tech who came to the house just blamed the electric meter box for RF interference and move the ONT farther away.
My concern is that I'm getting different answers from different techs at Verizon.
Regarding IP addresses. The Router shows a DHCP range from 192.162.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 as available for devices on the network. So, if I need to assign a static IP to a device should I use a number below 99 or above 151?
    Thanks!

  • Slow DSL and inconsistent connections

Hi, I've got what appears (from what I've read in these forums) to be a common situation: have had Verizon DSL for years, no problems. Suddenly, within the past two months, my speed has dropped (I am paying for 1.5-3 mbps) and the internet connection drops sometimes for no reason. This became a big problem at the end of May when my final papers for grad school were due via email, and is still a problem now when I'm trying to work on my thesis with a number of online sources. Any help you can give would be appreciated.
I have an Actiontec GT704WG running on a "simulated dry loop" as it has been doing for at least two years, and have made several service calls to Verizon regarding this issue. The first call, I was told to replace the phone line between the router and the phone jack. I did so, and speeds improved for about a day. On subsequent calls, I have just been told to turn the router on and off. I do, and it works for a little while, but I don't feel like I should have to be doing this multiple times a day. Here's what Verizon's speed test just told me:

Please help, this is driving me nuts and I am tempted to look elsewhere for a more reliable internet provider. Thanks!

Despite missing some upstream from the length of your line (causing lower margins), your line seems to be fairing pretty well. Only a few uncorrectable errors with whatever else was occurring from perhaps noise, being corrected through Interleaving. The drops may be from the low margin on the upstream and downstream. If you happen to have access to a NID, see if you can connect your DSL modem to it and obtain the new statistics it shows. This will let us rule out at least your home's wiring as being the cause of the disconnects.
As for the speed issues, due to the lack of errors on the line, it looks like you might be suffering from issues related to the Junipers. Once we get some results from a NID test if it is possible, I'll send you some information on how to contact someone who can get you off of the Juniper, if possible, and onto a Redback router.

  • Intermittent Connectivity Loss

    Howdy Folks,
I've tried searching and haven't found anything that matches to my issue exactly so I will try my luck posting.
Issue: Intermittently (although span between instances is a rather frequent 15-30 minutes, sometimes an hour), my internet connection via ethernet (no airport configured) will suddenly drop. I will be unable to access the internet, or any services that utilize the internet.
    1. My Configuration:
ISP: Comcast (New cabling installed at current location as previous cabling was destroyed).
    Modem: Cisco/Linksys CM100 w/ current firmware.
    Airport Config:
    -WPA2 Encryption
    -Auto channel selection
    -Auto radio mode selection
-Connected via ethernet and DHCP (not using PPPoE) with a lease of 1 day.
-Connection Sharing: Share a Public IP Address
**Note: Under TCP/IP it shows an IP address of 98.238.X.X whereas DHCP shows IP range of 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.200.
    2. Devices Generally Used with Configuration:
    A) iPhone 4 (not connected when issue happens)
    B) iPhone 3gs (not connected when issue happens)
    C) iPad (not connected when issue happens)
    D) Mac Mini that is not even out of the box.
    E) Macbook Pro running 10.6.7 (not connected when issue happens)
    F) 2 iMac 17" (running 10.6.7) devices connected via ethernet (airport not enabled on either machine and connected with known-good cat6 cables that I crimped myself to ensure quality)
    3. Troubleshooting Done:
-Versions: Airport Utility Version 5.5.2 (552.11), TC Version 7.5.2
-Attempted directly connecting to CM100 which is working flawlessly.
-Updated Time Capsule and APU which did not have an impact as they were up to date.
-Restored my Time Capsule to factory defaults to reconfigure the wireless connection which had no impact on issue.
-Used various lengths and types of ethernet cable (CAT5, 5e, and 6) without success. I have even made a special patch cable not 10" in length to address the short distance between the modem and router.
**Note: The simple resolution is to unplug the ethernet cable from the TC or the Modem and immediately plug it back in. This is not convenient, of course, when I am in the living room watching TV and browsing on my iPad or something.
Of particular interest is that I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router (with current firmware) that works flawlessly when connected to my CM100.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated so I can figure out what the cause is and resolve it
The only thing I haven't done, which I am hesitant to do as I am not too familiar with the TC, is downgrade the firmware to test the issue.

    Update:
The issue just happened about 10 minutes ago.
Here is a Ping to my router:
    Ping has started…

  • Folders being closed upon connection loss?

The issue is that previously it would bring up an error saying that connection was lost and would still show the folders but without any contents, and it would've been possible to do a refresh when you'd have a connection, now it instantly brings to Network folder.
    Update:
Previously before the OS reinstall, I've tested what's causing the CPU usage to go up so high using ProcessExplorer, and found out that explorer.exe is using too much services/libraries, mainly ntdll.dll, which is being looped constantly, i.o. ntdll.dll would be copied and copied and copied until you'd restart the process (explorer.exe)

Hello,I'm currently having an issue with a user that is often on the road and obviously it's often that connection is being lost. That person often opens a lot of folders that we have on our local file server, and as soon as his connection is lost it brings him to the "Network" folder. Any idea what could be the issue? Also CPU would rise up to a %100 in total (File explorer .exe consuming approx. 40-60% because explorer.exe has a looping ntdll.dll library being looped in its process). He uses a Dell XPS 13 ultrabook with a four core i7 processor. Before connection loss:After connection loss:

  • Linksys Connection Loss

Hi... first time posting.. anyway.. i have a linksys router.. the generic one they sell at walmart... you know.. the WG.. im too drunk to get the name from downstairs(wireless G, two antennas)... anyway.. it constantly loses the internet.. it will sometimes show that i have limited access.. although, most of the time when it messes up it shows nothing... i can go to windows mobility center (vista) and disable and enable my wireless card a few times.. and eventually, it will show there is an internet connection.. (because there is), i just wonder... why does it lose the ability to detect and use my dsl connection? .. sometimes if something (my ps3 or my computer) terminates weird (im lazy, turn it off with the 7 second kill or the dreaded try to used two devices at once... ) it will sometimes go into.. well... i can only describe it as a 'state' which it cannot find the internet.. after a while (and some serious messing around with it) it can find the internet and connect... sometimes tho.. i have to reset it to default to make it work... and it only works after i try repeated connections to it on my laptop.. (i know this because ive done it... alot) whats wrong.. and how can i make it keep a good internet connection all the time.. regardless of whats connecting disconnecting from it...?   Any insight would be appreciated.

My Router WRT54G just started losing it's Internet connection yesterday for no appearent reason.  Local network works but cannot connect to Internet via Cable Modem.
Direct connection via Cable modem connects to Internet.  Cable Provider reports connection to both Cable Modem and Router Okay.
Wireless and Wired connection via Router fails.  Multable computerers and devices wireless including Xbox and PS3 (both off when internet lost).
Powering down both does NOT reastablish connection.
Returning to "Factory Defualt" does restore connection.
Today, connection was fixed with "Restoring a saved Configuration".  Less hassel as configurations do not need to be changed with this.
I would like to find the cause and a permanant fix before the kids lynch the 'System Administrator' (me) when they loss the Internet.
