GPS doesn't works on 4.3.3

After I upgrade to firmware 4.3.3 on my iPhone 4 the GPS doesn't works..... What's wrong and what I can do to resolve the problem?

It's inaccurate. Both navigon and google maps are inaccurate. Also the compass is constantly in motion several degrees when it's in my car's cradle and not in motion of course. ;-)
I tried this after resetting and clearing all data and installed only navigon from scratch.
B.t.w.: I do remember that when I bought Navigon (firmware 4.1 or lower) both apps worked smooth and accurate.

  • Gps doesn't work without a sim card

Does anyone know why GPS on my N900 doesn't work unless my sim card is inserted?
GPS seems to work on all my other Nokias without sim card (although obviusly it takes much much longer to locate me) but on the N900 I don't seem to get a gps fix at all.
    Any help gratefully received.

You might like to look at this thread:

If you change SIM it remembers settings from first one inserted so you may need to go to Settings > Location - disable then enable again.
Sorry without trawling way back through posts, I don't know where you are located, for example "Assisted GPS" won't work with TMO USA.

  • IPhone 3GS w/3.1----GPS Doesn't Work

I discovered that the GPS didn't work on my phone under OS3 and OS3.1. I followed all the advice on this and other forums about turning the various network and locator settings off and on with no luck.
I went to my local Apple store where my Genius was unfamiliar with the GPS problem and didn't really know how to troubleshoot it. He ended up giving me a brand new phone.
The GPS worked fine until I returned home and restored my other programs--TomTom, GPS MotionX, GPS Kit, and Find My Car. The GPS crashed again.
I was able to restore it temporarily by turning off 3G and doing a locator restore. 24 Hours later, it has stopped working.
This seems to be a clear case of a OS bug and app compatibility since I've had the identical problem with two iPhone 3G.
Has anyone learned of a better more permanent fix? Does anyone know if Apple has acknowledged the OS problem and initiated a fix?

Hi to the forum. This is my first post - ever!
It's taken me 25 years of Apple equipment purchase and enthusiastic advocation to get to this point.
And what has got me here? 'The GPS on my iPhone 3G has doesn't work'. If you Google this statement you get 12 million hits. It seems to me that's probably 12 million people who have a problem with an Apple product they've purchased.
I've read a lot of the solutions that other users have come up with - dozens of different ones. I've updated the iPhone software as soon as I can, I've been patient, I've given Apple chance to sort it out. I've even gone back to printing out Google maps onto paper (remember 'paper') and taken those out with me in the car to find my way around town.
However - the southern hemisphere summer is coming and I want to use the (totally brilliant) Navionics chart/GPS App on the boat. No chance. According to the iPhone we're in Africa not New Zealand.
So what to do? I can't find any 'official' info from Apple. I've no idea how the politics of these situations work - and I don't care! 12 million hits can't be wrong. Apple needs to tell it's users what is happening (even if they're still working on it), and when we can expect a fix.
Come on Apple, keep us in the loop - we love your products - and we want to keep advocating for you!
PS - this is the best place I could find to have ths little discusion - if anyone has a more direct line to God (err I mean Apple) please let me know!

  • GPS doesn't work on my iPhone 3G.

Hey, I'm having a problem with my iPhone 3G, since the beginning when I first bought it, the GPS was working perfectly and I would always get a lock on my position using GPS.
However, up until recently, the GPS no longer works and I'm only able to get the "Cell-Tower" Approximation instead of an exact position. I'm not sure why it is happening, but I've tried a lot of different ways of fixing it; I even restored my iPhone and it still has the problem. I've tested the GPS on other iPhone apps and it doesn't work well for it either.
Anyone else having this problem? If so, what can I do to fix this?

I've posted my perspective on this a few times, surprised it doesn't pop up during a forum search. I searched, there's my solution to the issue.........
In a nutshell, iPhone 3Gs have had GPS chip failures, I've had two replaced by Apple without question after they diagnose it during a session at the Genius Bar. The chips worked, then they didn't. Pulled out the SIM, left the problem device in a window for several minutes - if the device doesn't get a fix, the chip's failed. QED. My TomTom locked onto 7 satellites, the iPhones couldn't get a fix. Take screen shots to bolster your case.
    Done.

  • GPS doesn't work on 3G, possible to get repaired?

As the title states, mine stopped working. Thankfully it was just after i spent $60 on Navigon that i found this out (app store won't give me a refund).
Has anyone else encountered this issue and actually had apple fix it. Obviously my 3G is over a year old, so i'm guessing no dice on getting it switched out. How much would i expect to pay, if they even do it all?
    thanks

Before replacing it, I would Restore it and NOT install your backup when requested bu iTunes. You'll then have a factory fresh iPhone - try it then with the Maps app and maybe a free 3rd party GPS app. If it still doesn't work, then get it replaced.

  • GPS DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY AFTER UPGRADE TO 2.2

I just upgraded to the version 2.2 software. Since updating, my 3G GPS is not working correctly...anyone else? Location Services are turned ON, but now the locater is only finding my general location...acurate to about 1/2 mile. Before the update, my GPS was locating to about 300 feet at this same location. I suspect that the GPS is not kicking in and the phone is locating postion from WiFi and Cell towers. Any ideas anyone??

My 3G GPS isn't working properly either and if I turn it on, I am unable to receive incoming SMS messages - - if I am able to receive them they are many hours or a day late or worse, it never arrives. I tried sending SMS message to myself but it never returned. Outgoing SMS and incoming/ougoing calls are fine though.
So what I did now was to switch off 3G so I am now left with an expensive regular cellphone with no internet capability. Bummer. Not what I really want - I would have settled for a Sony Ericsson instead if all I want is just a regular cellphone.

  • GPS doesn't work without Edge/3G?

Been driving around the country this weekend and noticed that with no Edge/3G available (though had it previously to load the Google map) GPS will not locate. Is it possible that Apple has made Location Services dependent on Edge/3G? If so, doesn't this contradict the whole reason for having GPS?

EDGE/3G provide the "assistance" part of A-GPS. The GPS will work without that assistance, but requires significantly more time to localize you (can take several minutes), and requires line-of-sight to three satellites. The cell data connection helps overcome both of those limitations (in addition to providing the Google map to plot your location on).
    Hope this helps...

  • IPhone 3g GPS doesn't work

    Hi everyone,
I got a iPhone 3G the day it came out, and the GPS worked fine, now it doesn't.
Go into maps, press the target button, and it just goes round and round.
Location services is ON. I am in an open area where I should be getting a signal.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Felix

I had the endlessly spinning target button today, but I think it was because I was indoors in a large building, so it might have been stuck trying to find the GPS satellite signal. I tried again a little later and it worked when I was indoors, though it was fairly inaccurate.
If you're in an open area, I'm not sure. Did you have cell-coverage in that area? Because both cell coverage and some satellite coverage is (i think) necessary to get a good fix and download the maps.

  • Lumia 900 GPS doesn't work offline

I've had my Lumia 900 for about a year and a half.  At first it would get no GPS signal, like my old 5800.  After a few months it started receving signals over much--definitely not all-- of my area (I live in NYC).  It seemed usable, and I got rid of my TomTom.  Now it's back to never receiving signals, and the only way it can read my location is through WiFi (I don't have a data plan).
I have no idea what is going on, or why I now have had two Nokias that allegedly had offline GPS, but really didn't except for a few months.  Anyone have any hints as to what might be going on or what I can do?

I am not a Here Drive advocate - it is just practical experience from my Nokia N8, that goes from navigating reasonably well to almost useless when the SIM is removed. It has taken me to the place that I needed to go when I really needed it - and only had me driving in a circle once a couple of years ago, when trying to get out of an unfamiliar place. Heading the car in the general direction and ignoring the instructions for a while sorted that out.
Here Drive calculates a new solution for the remaining route automatically when the driver decides that he knows better. It does not do simple u-turn corrections back to the original route, unless another solution is impossible, it's a new solution to the destination. If the telemetry still works as it used to, then the driver's alternative solutions goes back to the mothership for analyzing and future improvements of the routing algorithms.
Shortest or fastest route calculation works for me in Denmark.
If a cheap Ebay GPS works better for you, then the solution is simple.
    Best regards,
    Hans

  • GPS doesn't work on new 3G phone

I upgraded from 'original' iPhone to 3G today and the GPS function does not work. When I use the maps app, my phone just continuously loads and never zeroes in on my location. I have reset the phone - even completely restored it - and nothing helps.
My wife bought a 3G phone at the exact same time I did and her GPS works perfectly.
    What do I do?
Is 1800myapple even open tomorrow (Sunday)?

I am having the exact same problem. I have the white 16Gb iPhone. My colleague bought the black 16Gb version. Standing in exactly the same spot as I am, his phone can find him, but mine cannot. We are on the same network and yes, my location services are turned on.
The location button on the lower left of the screen will eternally spin (until the phone turns itself off)...I have heard several people on other boards complain about this, I suppose its possible that apple let some bad hardware out the door (its happened before)

I loaded iOS6 the other day.  Now it appears that my GPS is not on.  The settings for iOS6 no longer have the option to turn on location services.  Am I missing something?  Does nayone know if there is a place to turn on the GPS for an I phone 4.

It's still in Settings, but it's been moved under the "Pivacy" heading.

  • Iphone 4 gps doesn't work properly

I'm using two running apps and signal from gps goes absolutely erratic in both. The tracks I'm recording are in the center of a 1.5 millon inhabitants town in Spain. Any answer?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello jmvaldesc,
It sounds like your running apps are not tracking your location properly on your iPhone.  I found an article that has steps to improve GPS accuracy:
    Improving GPS accuracy
GPS accuracy varies depending on the number of visible GPS satellites. Locating all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. Use these tips to improve GPS accuracy:
Ensure the date, time, and time zone are correctly set on the device in Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.
Important: Incorrect settings on your computer can sync to your device. Verify the date, time, and time zone on any computer that syncs with your device.
    Restart your device.
Verify that you have a cellular or Wi-Fi network connection. This allows the Assisted GPS (A-GPS) on the device to locate visible GPS satellites faster, in addition to providing initial location information using the Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
Note: Microcells (sometimes called Femtocells) are not supported with Location Services.
Maintain a clear view of the horizon in several directions. Keep in mind that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains, and other obstructions can block line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position, until the GPS satellites are visible again.
