GPS info in photo

We took a picture at a small fruit stand in Puerto Rico. We'd like to send the owner a small gift. Is there'd a way to find the address from the GPS info in the photo?

yeah only by two years but as there was over 100 views and no one bothered their backsides to reply with a "constructive comment" i decided to be helpful for the next 100 people that view this page. they will also see this comment and ur last snarky one. so good for u! (i wish there was a ******* emoticon to place here)
i never actual use these forums, only came across this Q while browsing google for some developer info on ios gps dictionary keys and why ios when taking pics wont use the gps acquired date/time for the kCGImagePropertyGPSDateStamp//kCGImagePropertyGPSTimeStamp in photo meta tag fields even tho it has the gps co-ords stored. i'll stick stackoverflow so
no point asking wjosyen thats for sure even with his level 9(?) because god knows what useless comment he will reply with (so in these discussions boards can u win points in give-aways or in follow the dots drawing competitions?)
joking aside, be serious now, u got them points somehow, u must be in some way clued in so why bother commenting here like that if u cant be helpful wjosten? in future just provide a more helpful answer if u can, if not dont bother, really!!

  • Images missing GPS info in photo library

    hey everyone,
I've been using iPhone taking picture and screenshot, import images from other app like GoPro App, wechat, etc,
I'm pretty sure before not only the photo taken by iPhone build-in camera has the GPS info, the rest image also has that GPS information, it was before my recently update.
Now i'm using iPhone 5 with Macbook iPhoto 9.6.1, all the images except those taken by iPhone build-in camera are missing the GPS info!!
Can anyone tell me what just happened? is that update really did something, or there is an setting I can bring them back?
    thanks for the answer..

  • Is it possible to remove or edit gps data from photos?

Just listened to a Mac Roundtable podcast and they were talking about removing or editing gps data from photos taken with an iPhone but they never explained how to do it.
Is it possible to remove or edit out latitude and longitude info from photo files?

Thanks for this, though after looking at it I'm not too inclined to use an app that requires getting into the terminal. Way too technical for me. But thanks.

  • No Photo Info in Photos app?

iPhoto had the ability to show information about a photo - camera used, GPS info etc etc - is there anywhere in Photos app that has the same functionality?

Yup I just noticed this today. It's pretty annoying. You can even get the GPS data back if you revert to the original photo. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I hope they fix this bug.

  • Best way to record GPS info in Aperture

Each time I take a batch of photos with my Nikon D60 I take a photo with my iPhone 4S to record the location. What's the best way to get this GPS info into Places in Aperture? Or should I bother using the iPhone at all and use another method of recording the location in Places? I shoot wildlife with an extreme telephoto lens, so I can't use the iPhone alone for this type of photography. I am told there are stand alone devices for this, but some kind of batch copy of the metadata from the iPhone seems to make sense. Any easy ways to accomplish this?

A very easy way to transfer the gps from your iPhone image to the wildlife images taken with the other camera is the Lift&Stamp HUD. Import your iPhone image with EXIF GPS-tags, then lift all tags from this image, deselect all but the GPS coordinates in the Lift&Stamp HUD, select the images taken at the same location in the browser, and click "Stamp selected Images".
The versions will now be stamped with the same GPS data.
You may also display the images you want to geocode together with your iPhone image in "Places" View anddrag all images taken at the same location to the pin of the  iPhoto image on the map in "Places" View,
But there is one draw-back: both mehods will only geocode the current version, the gps witll not be written to the original master files.
If you want your master files to be geocoded, you will have to assign the GPS tags before you import your images into Aperture.  For example, I record the gps tracks with a Garmin gps or an AMOD tracker, and geocode the master image files using Geotagalog or Jetphoto Studio, before I import them into Aperture. You could do the same with the free exiftool (commndline tool).

  • Lightroom 5 doesn't show GPS info from canon 6D

Lightroom 5 doesn't any longer show GPS info from canon 6D in imported rawfiles. This regards MacOS-version. It works in iPhoto and in Lightroom 5 for Windows 8! Strange...

I think I was having the same issue - after all I found out that when importing photos via Lightroom, I was overwriting the GPS information by "updating" the metadata by using the preset I used to use for my scanned film photographs.
    Check the following:
When importing, on the right hand side you see "Apply During Import"
If you have the "Metadata" section "None" then this is not the solution for you.  But if you have something else, make sure that you go into "Edit Presets" then UNCHECK "GPS" section of it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Wrong GPS information on Photos app

Hi, i just update and import 600 new pics from my iPhone to the new Photos library in my Mac. After all the new photos where imported i noticed the GPS info is wrong.
It says the pictures where taken on Shymkent City - Kazajistan, Jorasen - Iran or even Jorasen - Afganistan. Those are places i never went (all the photos where taken on Argentina, where im from).
I check my Photos library on my iPhone just to see if the GPS information was wrong there too but no, all the photos have the correct info in the iPhone library.
Any chance or idea how to fix this ? is pretty annoying.
Im using iOS 7.1.2 in my iPhone 4s and 10.10.3 in my mid 2010 White Unibody Macbook.

Okay turned off GPS, but my phone is the version 4.2.2 and I cant find geotagging or GPS tag,  alI I see is location tag.  This is whats confusing me and I am pretty much computer / electronic literate.  This will probably annoy me until I figure it out    I am hoping Location Tag is the GPS tag or as you say Geotagging.   If you have anymore advice please reply.
    Thanks BTW

  • GPS info in MobileMe Gallery pictures.  Google Map?

I took pictures on my iPhone, downloaded them into iPhoto, and made sure the GPS info was in the files. I created a MobileMe gallery, uploaded it, and checked to discover that when you click on the "i" icon in the MobileMe gallery from a web browser the GPS info doesn't show. I want to send my MobileMe Gallery link to somebody and have them see on something like a Google Map where they were taken. Is this not possible?

Same for me: iPhoto prefs are ok (prefs - web - include location info), but still no data in Mobileme Gallery. Is this a bug, will this be updated soon? Some people succeed to get some pictures done, I don't get any!! (http://gallery.me.com/altosaxo#100631)

  • GPS info in EXIF data

I have read the threads regarding GPS data and Aperture. I understand how to insert GPS info in the raw files and then import that file into Aperture.
Is there a way to add GPS info (latitude and longitude) into an existing Aperture image or library without having to re-import the file? I don't want to do this for every image I have, but I would like to do it for my favorites that show up on my web site. I would prefer not to lose all of the adjustments for images that I have already slaved over.

    Hello Kjell,
maybe you give gpsphotolinker a try. Before you
import your Fotos into Aperture you can manipulate
    the exif with this app.

Thanks for the tip. However, I do not shoot jpeg images, and would like a solution that supported my RAW/Aperture workflow - hopefully letting me avoid having to export my entire library out and re-importing it in again after the work is done.
Ideally, I would like a solution that would enable to to update my Aperture library from time to time using location information from a set of .gpx files, and for that to work, I would need some piece of sw that let me read out exif date/time data and compare with the same data in .gpx files and write back appropriate data when a date/time match is found.
However - not sure if Aperture would allow me to write exif data into the library at present?

  • Is it possible to display GPS info from a COOLPIX S800c in Aperture 3?

Is it possible to display GPS info from a COOLPIX S800c in Aperture 3?

To see the GPS locations display the image in "Places view", while connected to the internet (you will see the images locations as pins on a map).
To see the numerical values edit the "EXIF info" metadata preset in the Info panel to include GPS:
Or simple us the Lift&Stamp tool to lift the tags from your image:
It will show the GPS value, if the image has tags. This tool can also be used to transfer the GPS tags to other images without GPS.

  • Lightroom is not reading my gps info

Lightroom 5 is not reading my gps info as it did in previous version. Can someone please help?

I know this problem. There is some timestamp or gps data missing in your file (I can not exactly remember). Can you upload a image (or the gps part of exfitool dump)?

I'fe created an icloud accou, and i can view all icons and saved info accept photo stream.  Should there be a photo stream icon?

There isn't one.  You can't view photo stream on icloud.com, only on devices connected to your iCloud account with photo stream enabled.

  • If i am to sync my phone to a different computer and it has been backed up will i be able to get all my info back (photos, contacts, etc)??

if i am to sync my phone to a different computer and it has been backed up will i be able to get all my info back (photos, contacts, etc)??

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

  • Automatic "Write Keyword Tags and Properties Info To Photo"?

I have PSE8 and one of the reasons I stopped using it was because I had to periodically do a manual "Write Keyword Tags and Properties Info to Photo" so that all the metadata stays with my photos and isn't bound to just the PSE database.  This was very tedious to try and select just the files since I last performed a manual write not to mention if any older files were changed that I didn't know about.
I see that the caption/title is automatically written to the files when changed but ratings and keywords are not.  Why isn't there any option to write everything automatically when changed?  Is this still the case with PSE9?  Thanks.

That would take care of newly imported photos but what if someone added a keyword tag later to a photo from several months ago and I didn't know about it.
No, this takes care of ALL files
The only way to make sure all are covered is to select all photos in my catalog ...
This is exactly what 99jon suggested
... and write tags which would result in thousands of unnecessary writes.
If there's no new tag information, then nothing will get written (and even if it did, what's the harm, a photo had 3 tags before, and now it has the exact same 3 tags...)
