GPS Information in Mobileme Gallery

Just a simple question: Why is iPhoto not syncing the GPS information of the photos to Mobileme gallery? Can't see the location information in the data displayed when I click on the Info-Button within MobilMe gallery.

Peter

AS you saw it works for me
Did you verify that your preference is checked to include GPS information?
Have you updated to 8.0.3 - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3532 - it contains some Place enhancements and bug fixes (although nothing specifically related to MobileMe)
And it is working for you - look at the photo of the Cathedral of Montecristi in the Ecuador and Peru gallery - enlarge the photo and click on the "i" to see the photo information - your GPS data is there

  • GPS info in MobileMe Gallery pictures.  Google Map?

I took pictures on my iPhone, downloaded them into iPhoto, and made sure the GPS info was in the files. I created a MobileMe gallery, uploaded it, and checked to discover that when you click on the "i" icon in the MobileMe gallery from a web browser the GPS info doesn't show. I want to send my MobileMe Gallery link to somebody and have them see on something like a Google Map where they were taken. Is this not possible?

Same for me: iPhoto prefs are ok (prefs - web - include location info), but still no data in Mobileme Gallery. Is this a bug, will this be updated soon? Some people succeed to get some pictures done, I don't get any!! (http://gallery.me.com/altosaxo#100631)

  • GPS data does not show up in mobileme gallery or exif info of exported pics

    Hello,
I used places to geotag some of my pictures.
That went nicely, and I now have Latitude and Longitude Metadata entries
in the exif part of the metadata displayed by Aperture.
    However, when I export these pictures to JPG, this information is gone;
the metadata of the exported pic does not contain latitude/longitude information.
Likewise, when publishing these pics to mobileme, no gps information is found in the
    "information" part.
How do I write the gps data to the picture such that exports contain it and mobileme will display it?
    (Aperture 3.03)

Similar to bjrnfrdnnd2, I have the 'Include location info in exported photos' button selected all the time in the Export Preferences. Unlike him however, the GPS information developed using Places (lat & long) does not get exported when I export photos. It is not present when I reimport the photo back into Aperture, nor does it show up in Preview when I examine the file using Inspector in the Tools menu (I export the Master File).
Interestingly, if I export a photo from iPhoto with the include location info box checked, the GPS info does import into Aperture without problem AND, most strangely, will also export with the GPS information regardless of whether the 'Include location info in exported photos' is selected in the preferences or not. The same thing happens if I import a geotagged photo from my iPhone into Aperture; that is, the GPS information gets exported regardless of what the Preference setting is.
Exactly the same thing happens on my MacBook.
I've checked my disk for problems using DiskUtility, repaired the Aperture Library, tried using a new library and also deleted the Aperture preferences file and created a new one. All to not avail.
All I can conclude is that depending on how the GPS data are input into Aperture (as part of a photo that is imported or as determined within Aperture using Places) the information is stored differently and so is attached (or not) differently to exported photos.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or does anyone know what might be wrong here?
    Thanks

  • How does one log out of MobileMe Gallery in iPhoto '09?

I need to erase all personal data from an office Mac laptop.  I've been able to successfully log out of MobileMe in System Preferences, but I cannot "log out" of my MobileMe Gallery in iPhoto.  I'm running iPhoto '09 and it continues to my MobileMe Gallery photos in the sidebar.  I've followed some of the other suggestions (trying to sign in to MobileMe with a fake name and password), but the MobileMe Gallery photos still appear in iPhoto.
    I'm running 10.6.8
    iPhoto '09 8.1.2

I'm sorry, but none of this has worked.  I still want to keep my MobileMe Gallery.  I just don't want the photos displayed on this particular MacBook Pro since it belongs to my office.
There are no folders in the sidebar.  There are no photos in the Library.  All I have is the subheading "MobileMe Gallery" and a list of all the albums in my gallery.  If I click on any of them, I get an error message "an error occurred with the publication of album... Your MobileMe account information is not correct..."
I've logged out of MobileMe in System Prefs.  So, why would the MobileMe Gallery even show up in iPhoto?
Also, in iPhoto Prefs, there is no tab for syncing.
I've deleted preferences for iPhoto.  I don't know what else to do.

  • Icons disappear in MobileMe gallery?

    Hi all,
Here's a little strangeness! I upgraded to latest iPhoto, have the latest Leopard, brand new MacBook Pro 17, etc.
Sometimes I put movies (professionally made from Final Cut Pro) in iPhoto and bring them into a MobleMe gallery. Very easy, convenient way to post approvals for clients, etc. This has always worked well. Email the link to client, they click and see QT movie. Voila!
All of a sudden, I'll post 2 or 3 movies to a new MobileMe gallery - they look fine, the link works well - they look fine on the internet - EXCEPT THEN, MAGICALLY - they'll disappear from the Mobileme gallery page in iPhoto!!! The page is blank!
The movies are still on the website they were sent to - but the "design" page in iPhoto shows nothing is there?? This just started happening - perhaps it's coincidental with my upgrading to 8.02 in iPhoto? Anyone else have this issue . . . all am I all by myself out here Lonely feeling! So I trashed the iPhoto prefs, repaired disk permissions, rebuilt entire library, restarted - and started over making a brand new mobileme gallery page with 4 movies. Again, they finished publishing, perfect on the web and **** - did it again - the icons just disappeared from the mobileme gallery page. (But they're still on the web.)
    Anybody have any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Larry

Thank you, Old Toad! You've helped me before. Actually I did rebuild the library - my first post I believe I mentioned all that. But - look at this, Apple answered me. They are able to recreate the same problem there, so it looks like, I guess, I've found a real live BUG. Hard for me to believe thousands of others aren't running into the same issue. I've never actually used iMove before, as we always use Final Cut. But, here's what Apple just wrote me this morning . . .
    Larry
    Dear Larry,
Thank you, the description you posted in Discussions clarified the issue, please note though that the "page" you took a picture of is not a page but is the main window of iPhoto itself, and with the description I had before I was merely looking at your Gallery itself on the web at http://gallery.me.com/larrycohen3 which all looks just fine.
Following your description though I easily recreated the behavior in multiple test MobileMe accounts with iPhoto 8.0.2, and we appreciate your taking the time to bring this behavior to Apple's attention.
I've provided the details of your report to the MobileMe Engineering team. As always, the Engineering team appreciates feedback as part of its efforts to resolve issues and improve the MobileMe experience. Apple won't contact you again about this issue unless we have questions about the information you provided.
While the engineers explore possible solutions to this issue in iPhoto 8, as a workaround use the Gallery management tools on the web to manage your published albums that include movies in them after publishing. To access this page on the MobileMe site:
    1. Open Safari or Firefox and visit www.me.com and log in.
    2. Click the Gallery button at the top of the page, it looks like a sunflower.
    3. View and manage your albums on the resulting page. The direct link is:
    http://www.me.com/gallery
Thank you again for bringing this to Apple's attention and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

This is a long shot but try this:
1 - go to your System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of your MMe account.
2 - try logging in with a bad user name and password to clear the caches.
3 - now log in with your correct user name and password.
4 - launch iPhoto, select your MMe galleries one at a time and click on the publish button
5 - check your online galleries to see if they can not be viewed.

  • Sync iPhoto album & mobileme gallery

Hello! I have a few albums in iPhoto that I want to publish to my mobileme gallery. However, I would like for the albums on mobile me to be automatically updated when I add new photos to my iPhoto albums. So I'm wondering what's the best thing to do: Do I keep my original albums and update the mobile me gallery every time I add photos to the albums? Or do I delete the original albums and use only the published albums? With the first option, I need to update manually(?), with the second option, I lose the album folder structure I currently have... Any thoughts?

    Hello Oyvind,
You have outlined your options very well.
1.) Keep the local Albums and the folder structure you created and drag changes from these albums to the MobileMe Gallery Album when you add new pictures.
2.) Get rid of the local Albums and their folder structure and use just the MobileMe Gallery Albums
Those are the only choices I can think of as well. I suppose the question would be, do you make so many changes to your Albums that dragging the changes to the MobileMe Gallery would be so much work?
If you do decide to use only the MobileMe Gallery and get rid of the local Albums, I would highly suggest you keep a regular backup of your computer / iPhoto. And frankly if you care about your information having a backup is essential anyways.
    Hope that helps

  • IPhoto - MobileMe gallery subscription - problem with password-protected

I am having a peculiar problem with subscribed galleries from MobileMe in iPhoto 08 and iPhoto 09. For galleries that have password-protection enabled, the full URL of the gallery subscription feed is pulled through as the Subscription title instead of the gallery title.
    For example "http://gallery.e.com/ACCOUNT-NAME/XXXXXX/?webdav-method-truthget&depth=infinit y&feedfmt=atom....
This doesn't occur for public MobileMe galleries. The title of the gallery comes across and the URL of the subscription is hidden.
Anyone having similar problems? Local Genius Bar couldn't help and assumed it was just a bug, but it doesn't seem to be typical of Apple.
As an aside, it would also be nice to have these feed subscriptions behave similarly to the way RSS subscriptions work in Mail, with the ability to select how often the feed is queried and indicate the number of new items. This would alert users of changes to feeds.
    Joe

Upon further research, it appears that this problem occurs when publishing from either iPhoto or Aperture to MobileMe. The problem seems to be when a gallery is published and one chooses not to have the gallery appear on the main gallery page (hidden). It seems to have nothing to do with whether or not one protects the gallery with a password.
So, Apple, if you are listening, can you provide any information on how to have the title of the gallery come through when subscribing using iPhoto while at the same time not listing the gallery on the main MobileMe gallery page? This seems to be a fixable bug.

  • MobileMe Gallery and problems with new password

Hi. I'm using iPhoto 09, and have posted many MobileMe galleries over the years. Recently, I changed my MobileMe password. Now, iPhoto tells me that an "error occurred with the publication of album 'XYZ' Your MobileMe account information is not correct. The provided login or password is not valid" and it prompts me to return to MobileMe Preferences to re-enter my correct login and password. Well, the trouble is that I've done this many times. (Which also causes sync problems - but that's another story.) And though my System Preferences are now correct, I still cannot successfully update a MobileMe gallery in iPhoto. I checked my settings in the Keychain, and all is fine. I also trashed iPhoto preferences, but the problem still remains. Any thoughts on how to solve this irritating problem? Thanks!

I found another solution based on this posting.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=689762
    Works perfectly.
+I have the same problem and started a thread about it on Apple's discussion board, see http://discussions.apple.com/thread....art=0&tstart=0+
+First, I'd suggest sending Apple feedback on it (select "Provide iPhoto Feedback" from the iPhoto menu).+
+When you change your MM password, you need to enter the new password in MobileMe in System Preferences. When you select MobileMe in System Preferences, it will (correctly) say that your password has changed and ask for the new one.+
+It looks like the problem with iPhoto is that when you enter the new password in MobileMe preferences, the keychain entry for it isn't being updated. Look for publish.me.com in Keychain Access. It will probably have the old password. Changing it there and then signing out/in in MM System Preferences seems to fix the problem with iPhoto. If not, try deleting publish.me.com in Keychain Access and then sign out/in to MobileMe in System Preferences.+
+Give it a try and post what happens.+

  • MobileMe Gallery and international characters

(May this serve as a warning to others.)
I recently had trouble posting some vacation photos to a Gallery. My initial organization included a roll named Málaga (that's an accent on the first 'a'; it's a city in Spain). Later I organized other albums but the files' pathnames still contain the accented letter.
Posting an album to a MobileMe Gallery resulted in the error:
"An error occurred with the publication of album "[whatever]." Request to the server failed".
There were no errors listed in my Console logs.
I've found Apple warnings about having punctuation marks in photos and videos but this isn't quite the same issue.
The problem was very stubborn and I didn't realize the cause until I created another iPhoto Library and happened to use different names for rolls, etc.
A bug report has been filed.
    ...Neil

    Neil:
Using non standard asci characters in site names has always been a problem. Thanks for the heads up. Here's some information I've gleamed from the iWeb forum regarding site/page names:
    Renaming a website or webpage
You can rename a site or page at any time by double-clicking its name in the site organizer and typing the new name.
The page name appears at the top of the visitor's browser.
The site name is included in the website's address (URL):
    http://web.mac.com/your account name/ or
    http://web.me.com/your account name/
Renamed pages and sites (as well as the site's URL) change online the next time you publish.
IMPORTANT: If you rename a site, previously created links to your site won't work; be sure to notify your visitors, especially your blog or podcast subscribers.
iWeb now converts spaces in site names to "_". Also avoid non-Roman characters; many get converted to numbers when you publish.
Other characters that aren't recommended for use in website names are: forward and backward slashes (/ \), brackets ([ ]), tilde (~), exclamation point !, question mark (?), "at" sign (@), number sign (#), dollar sign ($), ampersand (&), asterisk (*), colon (:), equal sign (=), comma (,), and double quotation marks ("). Using these characters may result in names with strange numbers in them.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • MobileMe gallery shows thumbnails but no photos

I uploaded/Backedup some photos to MobileMe Gallery a while back, and now that I've moved my account to icloud I want to grab those photos to store on my mac. However when I go to view in thumbnail I can see them but then I click to open and MobileMe informs me that they are no photos is this gallery?
    Any thoughts people?
Oh and my HD failed so originals are unfortunately gone for good.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards

I use an external hard drive to sync photos
I have no idea what that statement means. Please explain
If your iPhoto library resides on an external drive what format is it?

  • Aperture Library and iLife Media Browser - Showing Deleted MobileMe Gallery

I'm currently using Aperture 3.1 and iLife '09 and just noticed that when I try to access the Aperture Library from say iPhoto or Keynote that the list of folders contains two MobileMe folders with my name, one of which contains dupicates of two of my gallery's. Now I deleted all of my MobileMe gallery's to see if I could fix this, but it still shows a MobileMe folder and two gallery's that no longer exist. I even logged out of MobileMe in Aperture, but still in the iLife Media browser the non-existent gallery's are still shown. I even tried deleting all previews and re-generating in Aperture, to see if the sharing information would be updated, but still these phantom gallery's persist. I guess this doesn't cause me any problems, but I would just like to fix it and wondered if anyone else had seen this and knew of a solution? Thanks.

    Hi,
I have a similar problem and have posted about it on this thread:

  • Aperture Crashing when Announcing a MobileMe Gallery

I am having a consistent problem announcing MobileMe galleries in Aperture. When I click "MobileMe Gallery" and "Tell a Friend", Apple Mail spawns 2-4 e-mail messages to announce the gallery but the content of the message(s) has no links to my gallery and all the information in the e-mail is generic. For example, where the title of my gallery should be it just says "TITLE" in the e-mail. Also, where the e-mail address should be to allow users to e-mail photos to MobileMe and attach them to my gallery it just says "EMAIL_ADDRESS" instead of the gallery e-mail address. In addition, Aperture crashes every single time without fail when I attempt to announce one of my galleries. I have announced galleries in the past without experiencing this issue.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Some others have had problems with the announce feature within iPhoto. Have you tried visiting the web gallery online and doing it from there with the Tell a Friend button? At least until the issue is resolved?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. • Checking a MobileMe-gallery on iPhone 3G!

I've been having some problems checking a MobileMe gallery on my iPhone 3G safari browser, it works very well until I press log in, then it loads for a while and pop up again asking for log-in information..
Does anyone know why or maybe experience the same problem?

I also am having problems accessing a MobileMe gallery with my iPhone. Same problem as in the first post: it keeps asking for log-in information (and Cancel won't make it quit!). I tried several times today with no luck but when I got home tonight it worked fine. Go figure.
