GPS Issue w/ my iPhone
How do I improve the GPS connection for my iPhone when I run/cycle? It's beyond finding open sky.. Using RunTracker App and not having luck
There's no setting for Location Services other than On/Off. You can try to reset your network settings. How does it work with the Maps app? Maybe try another app?
FWIW, my 3G works very well with the maps app... in open sky, I'm within 10-15 ft., sometimes better. I'm sure some of this is how accurate the maps are as well.

i'm getting pretty frustrated with the GPS issues with the CDMA iPhone.
i cannot maintain a consistent lock with GPS for more than a few minutes.
on Navigon: GPS looses every 4 minutes or so, and the speed indicator never shows a consistent speed, it'll show 60, 60, 0, 58, 58, 0, etc... then it will loose lock and take quite some time to get it back.
on GPS Drive (motion GPS): it will drive for a few more minutes, but then loose lock for minutes at a time.
on the GSM iPhone, i never had these problems.
anyone have any suggestions or fixes for the problem?I feel your pain. I have the same issue with my CDMA iPhone and there have been numerous threads in regards to it and there has never been any acknowledgement from Apple that an issue even exists. Some people have noted that doing a hard reset of the phone, or restoring your phone from a backup have lessened the issue, but to my knowledge nobody has posted a guaranteed cure. One thing that I have noticed that if you're using bluetooth in your car, turn it completely off (under settings/general/bluetooth) as a test and then try your GPS apps again. The problem seemed to occur significantly less. Another noteworthy point is that the Maps app that comes with the phone doesn't seem to have this problem. Please comment back in regards to bluetooth and Maps with your results. Also for all it's worth, you can send feedback to Apple in regards to this. I did so, but never heard a response, but none the less that's the place to also post issues such as this. Here's the link...

One think of interest is that it is an assisted GPS. It uses WIFI, cell towers, GPS and who knows what else to pinpoint your position. And there has been some privacy concerns (a little overblown if you ask me though) over the data collected by Apple to pinpoint your position. Apple has admitted to discovering bugs in iOS 4 in regards to this and has indicated that an update is forthcoming to address this. So maybe our problems are related. Keep your fingers crossed! -
Screen and GPS issues on iPhone 5
We received a certified iPhone 5 back in March '14 and the touchscreen constantly "acts up" either becoming nonresponsive or phantom typing even after a new iOS upgrade and multiple soft and hard resets. Also, the GPS, when activating maps or an app like Map My Run needs to be calibrated every single time the app is started. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you fellow iPhoners and Verizon!!

I am so sorry to hear that your are having issues with your iPhone. By certified do you mean the device was purchased as a certified pre-owned device or was this a replacement device? Does the device have any physical or water damage? Was there an app or software update processed around the time these issues began?

Did they bother to fix the GPS issues in new update 3.1.3?
Just wondering if they have bothered to fix the gps issues that countless people seen to have with the 3gs, me included. We shouldn't have to mess around putting phone into airplane mode, turning location settings on and off and resetting network settings to get googlemaps to pick up the bloody gps, only to then have it not work again as soon as you exit maps and having to repeat the process. With the amount of people suffering the same issues it leads me to believe the reason it hasn't been addressed is because apple don't know how to fix if. Although not documented as one of the fixes I was just wondering if it's performing any better. Any info is appreciated, cheers.

I have N95 8 GB with GPS activated for Middle East Dubai....
Now the issue is this that before i was used to connect very quickly say about 10 minutes but right now i mean as of last couple of weeks its taking hell of time indeed not connecting at all...I place my mobile and my frnds mobile at same place but mine is not connecting at all...his mobile connects like in minute or so....please can u guys help me...my mobile is rarely used for 3 months...
Do i need to change some settings....If satellite is not available it sudnt connect to my frnds same mobile v20....but it connects to him not to mine....First thing you do is to run GPS Data in connectivity and see if the phone achieves GPS lock any faster than now.
Secondly, run Nokia Maps, Goto Options>About and tell us the version you have. It should be accross the top of the screen.

I have a MacBook 5,1 (13.3" aluminum from 2007 or 2008). Automatic updates will only let me get to OSX 10.5.8. Can I upgrade to Snow Leopard, Lion 10.6 or even 10.6.8? Also, will I have any issues with my iPhone if it's updated to iOS 7.1?

You can upgrade direct from 10.6.8 to 10.8 Mountain Lion without going through 10.7 Lion with the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody. The Model 5,1 will probably run 10.9 Mavricks when it comes out.
10.8 Mountain Lion is a download from the App Store, the price is $19.99.
Mountain Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.

Also Mountain Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mountain Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications. -

We've an article that provides the following troubleshooting steps that may help stabilize your iPhone.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.

Is Apple going to address the issue with the IPhone 5 charger port?
Hi all
I have had an IPhone for about 4 years and have had my current iPhone 5 for just over a year,I never had any problems until recently. Just before Christmas I started having issues with my IPhone not charging, I bought a new charger and the problem continued so I went into the Apple store in Newcastle, they pulled some dust out of the charger port and the issue appeared to be resolved. However after Christmas it happened again, and again I went to the Apple store, they did the same thing and the phone worked fine for a month. However, this last week the problem has come back, this time when I took the phone into the store, they tried pulling dust out the port but the phone would still not charge, I was then told that as the phone is out of warranty there is nothing they can do other than charge me £209 to fix it!!
What concerns me is that after speaking to other iPhone users and doing some online research I have discovered this is a seriously common problem. So now through no fault of my own, I am left with a phone, which doesn't work and costs me £48 a month. Another concern is that I originally took the phone to the store with this problem before my warranty ran out and was given a 'temporary fix', which made the phone last untill just after my warranty has ran out!
I am angry and disappointed, this issue needs to be addressed as the Phones appear to be like a ticking time bomb waiting to break, and for those of you like me, who this happens to you after the warranty is up, you are elft with no solution other than to pay £209!!!!Or talk to the store manager or Apple Customer Relations and explain that you brought the phone in twice before the warranthy expired for the same problem and that there was no permanent solution, though if clearing out the debris fixed it previously, it's perhaps unlikely that they'll think it a defect. You can try, though. Just complaining here will accomplish nothing since we're all fellow users in these forums.

Issues Syncing w/ iPhone 3G (iTunes 9) - Windows 7 (64-bit) OS
After downloading iTunes 9, I've been having issues syncing my iPhone. I've tried every option available to me and have scoured many a forum to seek some form of solution to this. I've, unfortunately, restored my iPhone and managed to lose all of my data and contact information. This isn't really wants getting to me. The ability to sync my Music/Photos is.
A list of things I've tried.
* Restoring iPhone to original state.
* Uninstalling/Reinstalling Every apple product ever placed on my PC and deleting all data and registry information associated with Apple.
* Syncing my iPhone with another Laptop/PC (which resulted in my phone not even being recognized).
At this point I can assume that the problem lies in part with iTunes or something I missed and my phone in general. Since it costs an arm and a leg to get support from an 'Apple Expert' or to take it to an Apple store I can't resort to that.
On a good note, I have managed to actually get the phone activated and working again. The only thing I can't do is sync/update.
The error message I'm getting on my Laptop is ... blah blah blah "unable to load dataclass" blah blah one..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.I've tried both of those previously. Sorry I didn't mention that. I've done so many things it's hard to remember. I'm beginning to think that some of the problem lies within the phone. And since I can't even get the computer to be able to read it properly, I can't restore to factory again.
I had a bit of luck with a friends PC and was able to get it to read it, but not sync. So, I may use his iTunes to restore my phone to a factory default. Then attempt to uninstall/reinstall iTunes on my Laptop again to see if it works.
(Also for the copy/paste files, the latest iTunes from the site remedied the issue where the files were in the wrong location, so that was already completed).
The link to the support page is virtually useless though. I'd done everything that page asked before even seeing it. Thanks for trying though. I'll repost after I restore and then uninstall/reinstall again. -
I have a new Macbook pro. I downloaded all previous Itunes purchases and then sync my IPhone. The New songs that I purchased today appear on the IPhone however it will not play. How do I fix the issue with my IPhone?

I'd start off your troubleshooting process by deleting and redownloading the songs:
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.

How do I fix the compatibility issue between my iPhone 4S with iOS 7 and my Pioneer car stereo? There was no problem with iOS 6, but now I get a message saying "this device is not compatible" and so I can't use Netflix for example. How do I fix it?
This is a typical response from the manufacturer. Did you try the fix that Lawrence mentioned. When Apple or any other phone manufacturer update phone software, they have the latest Bluetooth installed. It is usually the problem with the radio manufacturer that they devices are using the older Bluetooth protocols. You can try this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581 and see if anything there helps, but generally it requires the radio manufacturer to update their firmware.

ParveenBasic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
The iPhone4 runs iOS7 without any issues or performance problems.
Apple does not provide a method to downgrade the iOS on any iDevice. Discussion of such matters in these forums is against the terms of use. -

I've got very unpleasant issue with my IPhone 4s, it can automaticaly turn on the 3G even if my local mobile operator does not have 3G coverage.

I'm not talking about carriers that support 3G, I'm talking about AUTHORIZED iPhone carriers. There is NO SUPPORT available for iPhones on networks other than those who are authorized BY APPLE to carry the iPhone.
The iPhone should work with any compatible GSM carrier. If your carrier is not on the list I linked to, you will have to work with them to resolve any problems. There is nothing else anyone can do for you. -

1) uninstall
2) login on PC/MAC and change password
3) reboot iphone
4) install facebook app, reboot again
5) login from iphone.
No joy.
Safari works, but not for the apps.
Of course, it's Facebook that has to fix this.
