GPS, Maps, Directions.

hi
I was just wondering if you have to pay for the GPS tracking, maps, and directions or not? If yes, then how much a month?
Thanks.

The calling plan with the least amount of anytime calling minutes costs $39.99/mo for 450 anytime minutes. This includes rollover minutes, 5000 nights/weekend minutes, and unlimited mobile to mobile minutes at any time with a fellow at&t subscriber.
With rollover minutes, if you only use 200 anytime minutes one month, 250 anytime minutes are rolled over to the next month for a total of 700 anytime minutes the following month - which can be used for anytime minutes over the next 12 months. All anytime minutes not used each month are rolled over to the next month which a running credit of anytime minutes. If I have 200 anytime minutes rolled over two months in a row, the 3rd month I would have 850 anytime minutes that I could use that month, etc.
$39.99 Calling Plan
$30.00 Unlimited Data Plan (which may or may not include 200 SMS)
If no SMS are included with the unlimited data plan, there will be an additional charge for your chosen SMS allowance, or if 200 SMS are included with the unlimited data plan and you need additional SMS, there will be an additional charge for your chosen SMS plan.
You are looking at $70/mo at a bare minimum if 200 SMS are included with the unlimited data plan and you don't choose an additional SMS plan.
Plus required taxes and fees which fluctuation some depending on where you live.

  • Can't active the Voice on Maps Directions on the 5...

    Hi,
I recently purchased a T-Mobile Nokia Nuron.  I have used the GPS driving directions on the Ovi Maps twice, but each time I was unable to find out how to get the voice function to work.  Is there a way for the phone to speak out the directions (e.g., when to turn and the road/street name)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
    Josh

    Oops!
I just found out how to do it:

  • How to clear map directions

    How to clear map directions?
    Thanks in advance!

Ok, so I cleared bookmarks and recents. Directions still showed. Selected search, then back. No luck.
Then I selected a new destination. The old route then disappeared from the screen, finally.
The new destination pin was blue, the old one red. While I was not able to select the red pin and choose delete, the blue pin allows for deletion.
As to my second question, I am not finding how to turn off the GPS blue pulsing locator?

  • How to use GPS Maps

    Hello Friends,
I have bought a E66 phone recently, kindly inform me how do I use the GPS maps of Australia, please give a detailed instructions as I am a cave man when it comes to technology, thanks
    Ras

    Hi ras1
Firstly was a microSD provided with your E66 which possibly could have regional maps pre-loaded but not necessarily?
    1) Assuming that you have an available microSD > 2GB inserted in E66, start Nokia Maps application which will create necessary folder structure on memory card required later. If you accept "Go-online at start up" and you have a GPRS data connection as your access point, you can zoom in and out using "+" and "#" keys and provided that bars beside satellite icon have changed from yellow > green you should see your location on map although map data may have to be downloaded if not present.
    2) You will need to download regional maps to your device using Nokia Maploader v2.0.2 application available here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199
I am assuming that you have already downloaded Nokia PC Suite v7.0 from here: http://europe.nokia.com/pcsuite and not loaded version from CD provided with E66 which by now may be outdated.
    3) If you launch Nokia Maploader it instructs you to connect your device in default "PC Suite" mode (you should be prompted on connection if you have not altered default).
If you get "Waiting for device" and nothing happens try connecting in "Data transfer" mode instead. You will see the various continents and need to click on to explode content.
    4) If you intend to purchase a "voice navigation" license for real-time navigation, you should also download either English(US) or English(UK) voice file as well as regional map. Without a "voice navigation" license you can see your position on map and plan journeys although map won't be orientated in direction of travel.

  • Offline GPS/maps

Does anyone know of any really good offline GPS/maps for traveling to another country? I'll be heading to Rome, Spain, Monaco, Tunisia and Italy next week and Beijing, China in May and I really need some good apps that will help me with directions and places. I'll need an offline GPS for when driving (doesn't have to be that accurate because I know iPhone can't replace an actual GPS), and a map showing public transit system and major places in those countries; other features would be nice too. The app has to be offline because obviously there's no connection outside.
    Thanks!

GPS access does not equal turn by turn directions. Turn by turn directions can be included with a GPS device, but if a GPS device does not include turn by turn directions does not mean it isn't an actual GPS device or does not have a GPS reciever. These are not one in the same. Firmware update 3.0 will support an app that provides turn by turn directions using the iPhone's GPS reciever with maps data stored locally on the iPhone.
Unless you can find an app via the app store that includes the map data you will be needing, you will be out of luck.

  • Photos integrated with GPS Maps

With the Location settings enabled for your camera, can you send geotagged photos to other iPhone users as a way for them to get directions to your location?
Let's say I needed directions to meet up with my friends. Is it possible for them to just take a picture of their location, send it to me, have the picture integrated into my GPS maps, and get directions to their location?
Is this possible? Anyone know? If not, wouldn't that be a good idea? Would it be difficult?

One of many ways would be to add this in the bookmarks in your gps maps. So far there are only 3 options to select
    1. Bookmarks
    2. Recents
    3. Contacts
Can't they add "Geotagged Photos" or something to that extent?
I know this isn't the place to do it.. So I won't entertain this much longer. I thought for sure our photos would be integrated with the GPS maps.
Is there at least a specific social network application that closely resembles that? If so, which one?

  • Need an Iphone app which saves my map directions

    Hi guys,
I need to know a app which can help me save my map direction and routes offline on my iphone 3gs. Help !

Both Motion GPS Drive and Motion GPS do this. The Drive version lets you simulate the trip then all the maps are cached so you don't need data service to run the trip.
The Motion GPS app allows you to download maps and store them. All routes and tracks are saved.
Sounds like the Drive version might be more what you want though.

  • Best MMORPG for Iphone 3G and a question about gps maps

    Hi there,
Could anyone tell me what are the best free and paid iphone 3G MMORPG games? And please tell me some positive and negative things in the games.
I didn't know where i could ask this so, i came here to apple forum, because i have subsribed to internet on iphone today. This topic doesn't have anything illegal.
Another thing, does anyone knows if using gps maps through 3g internet, spends a lot of internet trafic? today i've used gps maps for about 12km and it spend me 80kb of trafic. Is this possible? because someone told me that iphone gps spend a lot, but really lot internet trafic. I didn't used sattelite view.

The sattelite view uses far more data, of course - because of the photography it has to download. But the regular map is still a bitmapped image that has to be updated. It's not a massive amount of data, but not insignificant either.

  • Can Oticon streamer 1.4 play music or map directions?

I have a 4s iPhone and my wife has a new 5s. I have an Oticon hearing aid. Cannot get either phone to play music or map directions with the oticon streamer 1.4.  Using iOS 7. And it worked ok a week ago, but not this week???!!!
Procedure I use: Get ready to pair by turning bluetooth off on phone. Make sure phone and streamer are close by. Pair by turning on streamer in the discover mode (rapid blinking blue light). On phone select bluetooth and turn it on. Observe that streamer shows up. Tap on phone the words that say streamer, and give it 20 seconds or so to get connected.
At this point phone calls in or out work ok with either device 4s or 5s phone. This is the HFP mode I believe.
Now, I want to use the map function on the phone to hear directions with my hearing aids when driving, so I want to enable the A2DP connection (according to what I read) by a short push of the "music" button on the streamer. When I do it, my hearing aids give a 'beep-BEEP" like they are now listening to bluetooth, and button blinks yellow. However, no sound comes from the map function, and I can find no icon that would allow to choose streamer as the output sound device. For testing purpose I also try playing music in the manner just described. Same story: no music plays and no way appears to choose output sound to streamer.
Called apple support and poor lady was clueless. Tried reading support discussions and found a lot such as:
    iPhone 4 IOS 6.0.1, Oticon Streamer 1.4
Press phone on/off button until the "Slide to to power off" appears.
Press Phone button on Streamer for a few seconds until it stays on (green light)
At this point the Streamer should redial the last number called on the  iPhone and the iPhone will display" Streamer 1.4" as the audio source.
Tried this and things happen as described, but it makes no difference to hearing music or map directions. Most comments suggest phone or bluetooth devices may be incompatible, but that does not seem to be my problem.
But what is going on? Driving me nuts. Help please anybody.

I also have had problems with my iPad. I rang Oticn tech support and they tell me although the Streamer can remember eight devices it can only have 4 connected at one time. So you have to switch off other devices. I think the smartphone count as two devices as also the ipad, I have the landline telephone connector which counts as one, I have a smartphone and an iPad, The iPad and the smartphone counts as two each which = four. My landline telephone connector will not work until I switch off either the iPad or smartphone
I have also spent a lot of time trying to sort this problem out and this is what I came up with I hope it's some help but not too confusing

  • GPS Maps Auto-Rotator

Is there an app to help this app out? It can get a little distracting moving my finger across my phone every 10 seconds to keep up with the blue dot on my map. I LOVE this feature, and all this app needs is an auto-rotator to make it perfect. Is there anything like this already out or coming out soon?

Not that I'm aware of. There are no routing settings like there are in a dedicated auto turn-by-turn GPS. I see the iPhone GPS/Maps as a mapping program mostly useful for finding things around me and quick access to a map. It's not nearly as good as a dedicated GPS. Hopefully Apple will allow a good turn-by-turn app in the future.

  • GPS Maps Outside of Phone Coverage when Traveling

*Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?*
Most people need a map when they are traveling, not in their local area.
To download maps using the limited 3G network coverage while traveling is EXPENSIVE.
A lot of places just do not have 3G and using 2G to download maps on the fly is SLOW & EXPENSIVE.
Many places interesting places in the world do not have any phone coverage at all.
So how useful is the GPS function on the iphone if you are in an area where you cannot download a map.
Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?

Perhaps you have not done much traveling. I have.
I am also very experienced at reading all types of maps, including
topographical maps on land and depth contour maps and so on at sea.
So map reading is not the problem for me.
Actually getting good maps, that are easy to use even from guide books is
quite difficult. It is not really convenient to have to carry a heavy
guidebook around every where. In some places the maps from guide books
have inadequate or incorrect coverage. In Japan or China it can be difficult to
come to grips with the calligraphy, sometimes there just aren't any road signs.
So a GPS map device becomes are very useful piece of kit. Unfortunately as much as I like Mac stuff and wanted the iPhone for this purpose, it is in its current
form not very useful for travelers.
The Nokia maps can be preloaded (so at least you can avoid expensive download costs) but the coverage is quite limited. Samsung have a new 16+16Gb GPS phone that with pre-purchased GPS maps could do the job.
Apple could fairly easily fix the iPhone GPS software so that you can preload all the Google maps for a country before you leave. After all you generally know where you are going. If Apple was to do this then I would get the iPhone
but until then I will keep looking for a better solution.

That sounds about right - I'm using about 240mb at the moment, and I've a few videos and about 100 images on the card, alongside maps of the UK.

I'm not too sure either. I think it might be in a hidden directory on the card. You might be able to view it if you put the memory card into your computer.

Are these other folders suppose to be on the memory card i.e. data, images, my videos, other, sound clips etc etc?
Yes, that's normal. If you move any of your images, videos etc from the phone memory to the memory card, they'll live in these folders. The phone is set by default to use the memory card for the camera, for example, so new pictures you take once the card is inserted will be added to these folders.

  • Why can't Siri locate contact addresses for map directions?

Having an issue with iphone 4s using Siri for locating addresses saved within contacts for map directions.
The problem is only evident on about half of the contacts so far..  the message i get is 'I couldn't find an address for .." even though the contact I asked for clearly has their address saved.  I've doubled checked I've used the right address fields and seem fine.
I'm unable to distinguine the problem between the contacts where Siri works as it should and locate the address, and the ones it can't - including my home address.
Very frustating when I want directions in the car for driving and using hands free.
    Any ideas guys?!

It seems to be a bug in the software. Other people have said it may have so something to do with siri not understanding UK postcodes properly.  I don't really know but I seem to have found a solution, although cumbersome.
-Load up your contact from phonebook app
-Tap the address (apple maps should go straight to it)
-Double tap home and switch back to phonebook app
    -Delete the address
-Diuble tap back into maps (the pin point should still be there)
-Press the little blue arrow on the pin
-Add to contacts > Existing contact
    -Select contact
(Now this is the important bit)
-Tap edit then tap the right hand column off the address section in order to set it as home, work, etc.
    -Done
    Phew!!
It's long winded I know, but now I can just tell siri to get directions to so and so's home safely while driving without fiddling around tapping buttons.
Sort it out Apple. It should 'Just Work' outside of the US too you know.
