  • Best MMORPG for Iphone 3G and a question about gps maps

    Hi there,
Could anyone tell me what are the best free and paid iphone 3G MMORPG games? And please tell me some positive and negative things in the games.
I didn't know where i could ask this so, i came here to apple forum, because i have subsribed to internet on iphone today. This topic doesn't have anything illegal.
Another thing, does anyone knows if using gps maps through 3g internet, spends a lot of internet trafic? today i've used gps maps for about 12km and it spend me 80kb of trafic. Is this possible? because someone told me that iphone gps spend a lot, but really lot internet trafic. I didn't used sattelite view.

The sattelite view uses far more data, of course - because of the photography it has to download. But the regular map is still a bitmapped image that has to be updated. It's not a massive amount of data, but not insignificant either.

  • Garmin GPS map software

Can Garmin GPS map software (Windows application) run on an iMac? If so, how is it done?
I'm new to the world of Mac, so thanks for your assistance.

Google Earth plus will work with Garmin and it is a Mac program. with Plus you have to subscribe. Just Google earth is free

  • GPS Maps Auto-Rotator

Is there an app to help this app out? It can get a little distracting moving my finger across my phone every 10 seconds to keep up with the blue dot on my map. I LOVE this feature, and all this app needs is an auto-rotator to make it perfect. Is there anything like this already out or coming out soon?

Not that I'm aware of. There are no routing settings like there are in a dedicated auto turn-by-turn GPS. I see the iPhone GPS/Maps as a mapping program mostly useful for finding things around me and quick access to a map. It's not nearly as good as a dedicated GPS. Hopefully Apple will allow a good turn-by-turn app in the future.

  • GPS Maps Outside of Phone Coverage when Traveling

*Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?*
Most people need a map when they are traveling, not in their local area.
To download maps using the limited 3G network coverage while traveling is EXPENSIVE.
A lot of places just do not have 3G and using 2G to download maps on the fly is SLOW & EXPENSIVE.
Many places interesting places in the world do not have any phone coverage at all.
So how useful is the GPS function on the iphone if you are in an area where you cannot download a map.
Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?

Perhaps you have not done much traveling. I have.
I am also very experienced at reading all types of maps, including
topographical maps on land and depth contour maps and so on at sea.
So map reading is not the problem for me.
Actually getting good maps, that are easy to use even from guide books is
quite difficult. It is not really convenient to have to carry a heavy
guidebook around every where. In some places the maps from guide books
have inadequate or incorrect coverage. In Japan or China it can be difficult to
come to grips with the calligraphy, sometimes there just aren't any road signs.
So a GPS map device becomes are very useful piece of kit. Unfortunately as much as I like Mac stuff and wanted the iPhone for this purpose, it is in its current
form not very useful for travelers.
The Nokia maps can be preloaded (so at least you can avoid expensive download costs) but the coverage is quite limited. Samsung have a new 16+16Gb GPS phone that with pre-purchased GPS maps could do the job.
Apple could fairly easily fix the iPhone GPS software so that you can preload all the Google maps for a country before you leave. After all you generally know where you are going. If Apple was to do this then I would get the iPhone
but until then I will keep looking for a better solution.

That sounds about right - I'm using about 240mb at the moment, and I've a few videos and about 100 images on the card, alongside maps of the UK.

I'm not too sure either. I think it might be in a hidden directory on the card. You might be able to view it if you put the memory card into your computer.

Are these other folders suppose to be on the memory card i.e. data, images, my videos, other, sound clips etc etc?
Yes, that's normal. If you move any of your images, videos etc from the phone memory to the memory card, they'll live in these folders. The phone is set by default to use the memory card for the camera, for example, so new pictures you take once the card is inserted will be added to these folders.

  • How to use GPS Maps

    Hello Friends,
I have bought a E66 phone recently, kindly inform me how do I use the GPS maps of Australia, please give a detailed instructions as I am a cave man when it comes to technology, thanks
    Ras

    Hi ras1
Firstly was a microSD provided with your E66 which possibly could have regional maps pre-loaded but not necessarily?
    1) Assuming that you have an available microSD > 2GB inserted in E66, start Nokia Maps application which will create necessary folder structure on memory card required later. If you accept "Go-online at start up" and you have a GPRS data connection as your access point, you can zoom in and out using "+" and "#" keys and provided that bars beside satellite icon have changed from yellow > green you should see your location on map although map data may have to be downloaded if not present.
    2) You will need to download regional maps to your device using Nokia Maploader v2.0.2 application available here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199
I am assuming that you have already downloaded Nokia PC Suite v7.0 from here: http://europe.nokia.com/pcsuite and not loaded version from CD provided with E66 which by now may be outdated.
    3) If you launch Nokia Maploader it instructs you to connect your device in default "PC Suite" mode (you should be prompted on connection if you have not altered default).
If you get "Waiting for device" and nothing happens try connecting in "Data transfer" mode instead. You will see the various continents and need to click on to explode content.
    4) If you intend to purchase a "voice navigation" license for real-time navigation, you should also download either English(US) or English(UK) voice file as well as regional map. Without a "voice navigation" license you can see your position on map and plan journeys although map won't be orientated in direction of travel.
You might like to look at Nokia maps 2.0 User guide here:

  • Maps Language - map data vs phone system

Ovi Maps stores all available language versions of map data for a certain city (e.g. both Chinese & English for Hong Kong), but will only display the language according to the phone system settings.
If I want to switch map languages I need to change phone settings then reboot then restart Ovi Maps and restore afterwards. Would really appreciate if such option made locally instead of system wide.

I have suggested it on betalabs.nokia.com when ovi maps was 3.01 in beta.
As you wrote, OM language interface depends by the phone language interface

  • Offline GPS/maps

Does anyone know of any really good offline GPS/maps for traveling to another country? I'll be heading to Rome, Spain, Monaco, Tunisia and Italy next week and Beijing, China in May and I really need some good apps that will help me with directions and places. I'll need an offline GPS for when driving (doesn't have to be that accurate because I know iPhone can't replace an actual GPS), and a map showing public transit system and major places in those countries; other features would be nice too. The app has to be offline because obviously there's no connection outside.
    Thanks!

GPS access does not equal turn by turn directions. Turn by turn directions can be included with a GPS device, but if a GPS device does not include turn by turn directions does not mean it isn't an actual GPS device or does not have a GPS reciever. These are not one in the same. Firmware update 3.0 will support an app that provides turn by turn directions using the iPhone's GPS reciever with maps data stored locally on the iPhone.
Unless you can find an app via the app store that includes the map data you will be needing, you will be out of luck.

  • Why aren't there any English GPS maps for Japan?

I mean, why? There are GPS maps for almost every developed country, but for Japan there are none that i know of (neither Navteq nor Teleatlas, which are the two major cartography companies out there).
I've seen several Japanese GPS solutions, but they unfortunately don't have an English option. I've never seen a major company like TomTom or Garmin (among many others), offering a solution for that market.
So, what company does the cartography out there (Navteq or Teleatlas like), and why doesn't TomTom or Garmin use their data in order to develop an English GPS solution? There has to be some kind of logical explanation.
    Kind Regards.

Can you provide an official link for Garmin XT for the N8 and for Japan Road Navi 2.1?
As no doubt you were aware when posting Garmin Mobile Xt is now no longer available:http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-11034-00
Since this is the only way of getting navigation for Japan, Pakistan and Cyprus which Nokia have choosen to avoid providing for with Nokia Maps, presumably you would rather OP was left in ignorance of technical feasibility of it's use upon Symbian devices.
Whereas under your profile it says "Please do not contact me asking for assistance in a personal message (that includes bringing posts to my attention), you will not receive help from me in that way" I have always been happy to provide further guidance should user so request under such situations.

  • Photos integrated with GPS Maps

With the Location settings enabled for your camera, can you send geotagged photos to other iPhone users as a way for them to get directions to your location?
Let's say I needed directions to meet up with my friends. Is it possible for them to just take a picture of their location, send it to me, have the picture integrated into my GPS maps, and get directions to their location?
Is this possible? Anyone know? If not, wouldn't that be a good idea? Would it be difficult?

One of many ways would be to add this in the bookmarks in your gps maps. So far there are only 3 options to select
    1. Bookmarks
    2. Recents
    3. Contacts
Can't they add "Geotagged Photos" or something to that extent?
I know this isn't the place to do it.. So I won't entertain this much longer. I thought for sure our photos would be integrated with the GPS maps.
Is there at least a specific social network application that closely resembles that? If so, which one?

  • Will gps mapping and email on my verizon iPhone 5 work in France?

Will gps mapping and email on my verizon iPhone 5 work in France?

Since the sim slot in all Verizon iPhone 5's is officially unlocked out of the gate, you can save a ton of money by NOT calling Verizon support & NOT enabling data roaming, All you have to do is purchase a local sim when you get to France.
Do that & you can use all of the functions of your phone, cheaply.

  • N82 and BEST GPS/MAP program?

    hello all,
just wanting some opinions on the best gps/map program to use on the N82? Google Maps, Nokia Maps, Tom Tom?
Have been found it taking long to "locate position" when using the 82?
    Thanks for the advice!!

Try the new Nokia Maps 2.0 Beta (and new maploader) that were released to the public today. It's a massive improvement on the old version. So far i've been able to get a lock in half the time of the old version.

want to delete certain destinations on GPS map. Not all some places say go to a icon that looks like a book. I have no icon like that. Please help. I my iPhone 5c

We have used in the past an ActiveX component called MapWindows to display GPS locations in. It's a powerful ocx control but requires some work to integrate it cleanly in an application.
