GPS metadata not exporting properly to JPEG

I'm shooting in RAW (Nikon NEF) and using a third party tool to geotag my photos.  It creates an XMP file for each of my raw images and includes the keywords and GPS coordinates.  Lightroom is able to read and display this content properly.
When I export my photos to JPEG, however, the GPS data seems to be getting "corrupted".  If I look at the JPEG properties in Windows Explorer, here's what I see:
There's something wrong with the latitude and longitude, but altitude appears OK.  When I upload the files to SmugMug, it doesn't seem to recognize any GPS data either.
Is this a bug in Lightroom, or am I doing something wrong?  FWIW I am using version 2.4 64-bit.

I had been experiencing this very same problem, and it drove me crazy. Luckily, after searching for the answer on multiple forums, I found a solution. MetaX is a program designed specifically for tagging iTunes movies. Not only can you manually input all the required information, but you can also automatically input all the information from outside sources from within the program. It worked beautifully for me with my copy of Donnie Darko, which I ripped using HandBrake.

  • Metadata not displaying properly in movie list view 12.1.0.50

Has anyone had issues with metadata not displaying properly in iTunes iTunes 12.1.0.50?
Seems since the last update or maybe even before that the metadata is not displaying properly in the movies/list view window. All seems fine in the movies window with the display, nice art work along with all the metadata which I've been adding with the Subler app. Been using this app a long time and it has always been fine.
As can be seen in the attached screen shot, the titles of the lower entries are missing and the director information shows where the artists should be.
When I got to get info everything is as it should be. Any solutions out there?

Having the same problem yesterday I spent 2 hours
Contacting tech support Apple and Adobe.
Apple says clearly that it is Adobe responsibility
and Adobe tells to contact Apple...
And none of the companies are telling when and if there will be a fix.
I'm ready to go back to PC where hardware companies
are not trying to boycot software companies. That's my opinion.
I already lost one job because of this.

  • Illustrator not exporting properly

After exporting a gradient the color didn't seem to be exported properly:

Yes, it's a gradient on a stroke.  I think you helped me make it.  I saved or exported it under just about every type of format and they all seemed to have those white triangles.  I fixed a JPG version in photoshop with the content aware tool but if Illustrator has a bug I thought I should post it.

  • Cuts from Screen Recording do not export properly

I did a simple screen recording using Quicktime X. I used Mpeg Streamclip to convert it to the codec of my timeline. I inserted a few short cuts from the screen recording. Everything looked great. However, when I export the timeline, the cuts from the screen recording do not export with the set in and out points they were cut to. The cuts, and only the cuts, from the screen recording seemed to shift in time. Its as if FCP did a random slip edit to the screen recording cuts. really weird.
I then exported each cut to an individual self-contained quicktime file, and I got the exact same results. And the shifts in time were also exactly the same. really weird. Did Apple put some kind of restriction on using the screen recordings in FCP??
    any suggestions on a workaround?

I sorta found a workaround myself. Instead of converting the entire screen recording clip in Mpeg Streamclip, I simply set the specific in and out points I wanted in Mpeg Streamclip and exported the clips that way. Once in FCP, there was no extra footage for the random slip edits to occur and the final export looked as it was intended. I am still interested in any other possible solutions.

  • Lr 4.1RC GPS metadata not read in CR2 files on Synch

After importing CR2 files from a Canon 5dMkii I later updated those files with GPS coordinates using the program GeoSetter (www.geosetter.de).  The program is a GUI front end to ExifTool that adds the coordinates to the CR2 or JPG files.
After the files are modified, I execute Syncronize Folder in lightroom and select the Scan for metadata updates checkbox.  Lightroom picks up the coordinates from JPG files, but not the CR2 image files.  The only way I can get the GPS data to be imported is to right-click on the CR2 files and select "Read metadata from the selected files".  That works, but any corrections made to the CR2 files after the original import are blown away (there is a warning before the read happens that alerts you to that fact).
So I believe that there's a bug in the Syncronize Folder method that misses the updates from the CR2 files.  Is this a known bug, and if not, how can I get this info to Adobe?

    OK, let's start again.
I assume you have changed the Geosetter defaults for your Raw files, so rather than creating an XMP sidecar file you are having the GPS data written directly into the CR2 file, is that correct?
    And you have two issues:
    1. When you synchronise the folder after making the Geosetter change, Lightroom fails to automatically detect the fact that the file has been amended, and you have to force Lightroom to read the updated metadata from the file by doing a "Read Metadata from File" command.
    2. And when you do that, all the existing Lightroom changes are 'lost'.
    Have I got that right?
If so, re the first point, I think Lightroom is simply operating as designed. I have tested it on both LR3 and LR4 with the same result, and I guess that as Lightroom itself will never write directly to a proprietary Raw file (i.e. it would always write to an XMP sidecar file), it assumes any XMP data created by external apps would also be in an XMP sidecar file. As Geosetter isn't creating one, it can't detect changed Metadata when you sync the folder, and you have to force it to read the file. I know it WILL detect updated metadata if the file is a Jpeg, but again that's because Lightroom DOES write XMP data directly to Jpeg files, so it's more logical that it looks at the XMP area in such files during the sync folder operation.
On the second point, that will always happen as Lightroom, AFAIK, has no capability of merging it's own catalog metadata with externally created metadata. There are two choices when a metadata conflict is detected.....use the in file metadata, which replaces the in-catalog metadata, or re-write the metadata in the file with what's in the catalog. In fact in your situation, because you are not creating an XMP sidecar file, Lightroom will never know that there's a conflict.....so when you do the "Read metadata from file" it's a one-option deal, i.e. replace the in-catalog metadata with what's in the file, and thus losing the Lightroom data.
If your absolute requirement is for GPS data to be stored in the actual CR2 files, I can't think of any option other than changing your workflow....process the files through Geosetter first, before you do any work on them in Lightroom. If you delay importing into Lightroom until the Geosetter work is done, the GPS data will come in on import. If you import first, then do the Geosetter work, then you'll have to do the "Read Metadata from File" before starting any Lightroom processing.
I guess you could also put in a feature request to have the sync behaviour changed for Raw files.

  • Exporting to PDF from rpt file and charts within not exported properly

I am having issues when export .rpt file to pdf report using crystal report java. When exporting from Crystal Report, it displays the charts and boarders properly but when exporting using Java application the back ground colors and boarders disappears or fades. It makes the report look unprofessional. I am using version 2.0.
Looking at this release note  at  the this link (http://www.businessobjects.com/products/dev_zone/eclipse/cr4e-updates-readme.pdf )  I see a reference to "JRC SDK RTF exporting is not consistent with CR RTF exporting" has been fixed in Release Update 8. I tried the latest release but it seems it has release update 4 only. So, my question is where do I get Release update 8? I am hoping that will fix my issue or if anybody has any suggestions that will help me resolve it. If you can reply at your earliest, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Metadata not displaying properly in iTunes 11

Anyone have any idea why movies that I've recently ripped and converted into iTunes compatible files aren't properly displaying the metadata that I know is embedded within the file? Both movies shown below were converted using iVI (from South Pole Software).
Here is how a properly tagged movie file should appear upon being selected in Grid View mode in iTunes 11: (notice all the movie details displays properly)
To exemplify my problem, here's a screenshot of 'Superman Returns' when I select it in Grid View: (where did all the movie info go?)
Notice how it doesn't display the Plot Summary, Actors, Producers, DIrectors, etc?
When I hit "Get Info" (Cmd+I) with either file, they both seem to be tagged with all of the same fields, and yet the A-Team is the only one that winds up displaying that information when I view the movie in Grid View mode.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening, and how I can go about fixing the problem?

  • Description in Radiobutton fields are not exported properly to PDF

I can make a radiobutton question in Indesign; Example: Gender with the answers Female / Male and the descriptions Are you a female? Are you a male?
After exporting only the Description of the first field is shown: So for both choices I am getting Are you a female? shown in the tooltip. Of course this does not work to get an accessible PDF. And correcting in Acrobat is not fine...
I think this is a bug that should be fixed. Or is there a workaround?

The tooltip comes from the Description field. In the screen captures below, there are two radio buttons, one for Yes and one for No.
The buttons have the same name. But they have both different export values and descriptions. It's the descriptions that generate the tooltip.

  • Images not exporting properly.

Im having trouble exporting images with High ISO (3200+). Colors aren't coming out the same as the edit version in Lightroom.
Images are coming out brighter after export. Here's an example.
Image was shot in ISO 6400. Other images shot at higher ISO are also coming out brighter.
Clearly a huge difference. Its quite disturbing.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Just import that exported photo into Lightroom and then compare them at 1:1 zoom to confirm they're actually different, and it's not a difference in sofware display first.

  • Smooth Cam not exporting properly in FCP 7.03 - please help

    Hello
I have a 30 minute video edit. A small number of clips have the smooth cam filter applied with default settings. When I export the finished project to a number of varied settings - pro res, pro res LT, apple tv, iphone etc... All the smooth cam clips are jittery and juddering -  and are not working for some reason.
I have done a bit of research and apparently it's a bug in FCP 7.03 with interlaced footage (progressive works fine, apparently). All the source footage was transcoded to pro res.
Someone said that putting the clips in motion and smoothing them out in optical flow would work and people had results. However I have no clue how to do this..
Can someone please help me - I need to render a finished project today..
    Thanks in advance
    Nick

Apparently it's a bug with Smoothcam's handling of interlaced footage in FCP 7.0.3 ... there's a post over on the Creative COW website detailing using Motion instead as Finnur mentions above.  Here's my own quick summary of that for those that aren't used to it :
In FCP select the clip instance and choose FIle > Send To > Motion Project (or right click and choose Send To > Motion Project) and save the Exported clip to your scratch disk
The exported clip will open in Motion. Click the clip to select it and then from the toolbar at the top of the main window choose ➀ Add Behavior > Motion Tracking > Stabilize
Next choose ➁ HUD (heads up display), and in that window ➂ set Method : Smooth, Borders : Zoom, and select Adjust : Position & Scale, and click the Movement : Analyze button
When the Analysis is complete, choose Motion menu > Quit, and press "Save" when prompted.
When you return to FCP the smoothed Motion project (.motn) should be sitting in the sequence in place of the original clip ... it'll probably need rendering .
Personally, I'd be inclined to just try adding the Shift Fields filter (Effects > Video Filters > Video > Shift Fields) to the jittery Smoothcam shot in FCP first, and see if that works, before jumping through the Motion hoops.
    Hope it helps
    Andy

  • Metadata not uploading properly?

... so I'm trying to use the web interface to upload a few files for a demo, and it's not quite working. I've brought the files into my local version of iTunes. I've edited the metadata there. I've tried uploading the files through the web interface, but every time I upload the files, the data I've entered in the "grouping" field doesn't get carried over from my local install of iTunes to the iTunesU system. Is there something here I'm misunderstanding?
I'm trying to upload a few files for a demo, and I want the info in the "grouping" field to be used as keywords by iTunesU - am I misunderstanding how the metadata works here?
    Any thoughts?

in case anyone else is having a similar problem, some more extensive searching of the forums led me to this post from 2008:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7764123&#7764123
The key info is as follows:
+One thing to know is that there are some field that iTunes U doesn't preview in get info prior to download. This is true of the grouping metadata field. This means that you if you do a "Get info" on a track prior to downloading it, it will not display the information that you entered (though it is searchable). However, if you download the content then do a "Get info" on the track in your Library the information will be there.+

  • Anamorphic still not exporting properly. This never seems answered

    Hi
I shot a video on a Canon XM2 in anamorphic 16:9, edited it on avid, now iv moved it home to my mac and added effects on FCP.
I want to export it, among other things to put it on youtube. It always exports as anamorphic. I know FCP allows you to view it as squashed into 16.9 but how do i actually convert it to make it ACTUALLY widescreen -
i know seems to be a regular question, but it never seems to be answered
If its impossible to do on final cut, is there another programme that actually can squash the shape into the correct aspect ratio i want?
    Thanks people

There are 2 ways to do this. You can make sure that the Properties for the quicktime are set up to display an anamorphic file correctly, or you export with 16:9 pixel dimensions.
That's the answer. If you need help in accomplishing this, post back. You might also want to do some research on preparing a video for youtube.
    Try this: http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/you_tube_hdgary.html
Not sure if it deals with the 16:9 issue, but a good read none the less.

  • EXIF Metadata not exported

Each time I tried to export after development from a RAW file I got as "created date" the date I made the modification. Never the original date when I took the picture. I tried various options for export. My LR version is 5.3 installed bt upgrade on a 3 version, running on MAC Lion
Anyway I have a second MAC with directly the 5 version and got the same
    Hope somebody can help

Ian, I played with exiftool a bit, turns out you are right. But if you update the GPS (or any other property I assume) data _after importing the master file in Aperture, any exported version will be correctly tagged. So do you think a tool like yours GPS2Aperture could update both aperture's database (so we can see the values in Aperture's exif fields) and the masterfile itself?

  • Audio not exporting properly

I created a movie that I exported to MPEG-4 but when I open the exported video only the first 8 minutes of audio can be heard and then silence. Does anybody have any idea on why this is happening and what I can do so I get the entire audio?

I am having a similar problem. My first MOV export created AAC audio track fine, I uploaded to Facebook and everything worked. My second export of the same MOV file (edited) creates the audio track, but the audio track cannot be heard. I uninstalled-reinstalled the QT application and re-activated the Pro options - but the problem still exists. So, in a nutshell, I was only able to create ONE working video. ANYONE? Any ideas? I can load the first m4v file in and hear the audio fine. What's going on here?
