GPS Metadata Won't Export With Master?

I've exported a master and a jpg version of the same photo that has GPS data from Places on it from A3 and imported to into LR2.
The jpg arrived with GPS metadata but the master did not. I double checked A3 is set to include the IPTC data set on export and for good measure I re-exported other GPSed photos and checked them in Preview in case LR2 was doing something to the GPS data. Same results in Preview.
A3 isn't letting you take masters out with GPS intact AFAIK. Anyone see this?

Yes, I'm experiencing the same problem. GPS info is exported with the jpeg but not with the master.
I think A3 is only using the internal places database to store the GPS info and it gets written to the jpg only when exporting (and assuming you've selected to export locaton info), in the same way as it happens with Iphoto.
The logical workflow should be to write everything (IPTC, GPS and date) into the master when selecting update master metadata, or at the very least to have a choice of which of the above to include in the metadata update.
Right now the only way to ensure that all masters are properly GPS tagged is to use an external GPS editor such as houdageo, however this only works in Aperture 3 with referenced files.

  • Adobe Media Encoder: Audio won't export with video

I am trying to convert an AVCHD video for viewing on my iPad 3. I use Adobe Media Encoder and select the iPad 2 settings (1920x1080) and it exports the video perfect, but no audio. I have "Export Audio" checked off. I tried it with 5 other settings and it just wont include the audio. Any ideas?

Seems random people are running in to this, so hopefully this solution will be found by whomever's looking.
If you're exporting video files from Final Cut Pro as .mov, and then trying to convert said .mov to an .mp4 using Adobe Media Encoder and are losing audio even though you're multiplexing, try this...
Make sure that you export only a 2-channel audio track from FCP.   When I export from FCP, I split my audio into various tracks by default.  Great for making master clips, but problematic if uploading to YouTube or doing further encoding in Adobe Media Encoder.   Like YouTube, if you have more than 2 tracks of audio, Media Encoder seems to get confused and ignores all audio tracks.  Combine all audio into a 2-channel stereo track and see if that solves the problem.
Regardless of editing program, see if reducing number of audio channels from source clip solves problem.

  • Music won't export with slideshow

I've created a slideshow with music that works perfectly in Iphoto. When I export to Itunes or IDvd the slideshow looks perfect, but no music is playing with it. I double-checked to make sure my playlist is selected and applied.

Try creating the slideshow using another account to see if the problem is repeated there. If it is not, then the issue is in your account.
If you can't get things to work correctly here is an idea for a workaround. Create the slideshow in iPhoto, but do not use any music. Import into iDVD as a slideshow, and add your music there.

  • Final Cut X 10.1.3 won't export with media on a xSAN drive

We have a new Facillis xSAN drive and about 36 computers logged onto the drive. The computers are all running 10.9.4 and edit fine with media on the SANs drive while in Final Cut X v10.1.3. However when we attempt to export and click on the share button nothing happens, the share menu stays there as if it wasn't even clicked on.
When we move the footage onto the local computer HD it exports fine. Any ideas as to how we fix this problem?

    Hi,
I have run into the same issue with Terrablock. They have sent me a fix, but I have been too busy to test it yet. So, this year all my students will be keeping libraries locally with external media and cache on the Terrablock. What we are also doing is they will have a backup libraries folder on the Terrablock and at the end of the day, they copy they're library over to that. This means even if the person who edited on the previous day is off they can still access the latest version of the library.  As, it seems as long as the library is initially created locally you can copy it back and forth, and export from it as long as you have opened from a local drive. If you create the library on the Terrablock and copy it to a local drive you still can't export.
We are also going to use Backups for FCPX Pro from NP Associates. It lets you set backups to 5 minutes or any time you require as in FCP classic. It's on the App store.

  • Slideshow won't export with music when preview is fine?

I have a slideshow that I chose a song from my iTunes library and when I preview it everything is fine. When I export the slideshow I get no sound. I've created a separate slideshow with the same pics and same song but still get the same result. This is maddening. Anyone else have this happen?

What's the source of this song? Bought online? Is it DRM protected?

  • Won't export with QT Conversion

    Hi,
I'm trying to export my footage with QT conversion (mpeg2) with chapters for a PAL DVD. For some reason it's telling me I can't until I render it but this has been done. Is it to do with scratch space?
    Thanks guys.
    Chuck

    Thanks David!
I've never struck that before and after doing what you suggested I also needed to manually do a 'full' render as opposed 'render all'. Weird as everything in the timeline appeared OK.
    Exporting now.
    Thanks again

  • FCP 10.2 won't export to Youtube, won't export a Master File

This problem started before I updated FCP last night, but I try the direct share to Youtube option, and where normally after a few hours its done, this time it says 'upload successful' but no video shows up in my channel's video manager.
When I tried it again, it failed with the error code (-60), so I decided to go a different route and process a master file, then manually upload it.
Still no joy. I have videos that are now two days late for the channel schedule, if anyone else is having this problem and fixed it, please share your technique!

I forgot to update that OS setting in my profile, that's my bad.
I set a video to direct upload to youtube, it goes through the usual process, I get a notification that the upload was successful, but still the video doesn't appear on youtube, not even processing. It's been a day since this problem, whatever it is, started happening.
I didn't change any settings from before and this was all perfectly functional on Saturday 11th, I first noticed it on Sunday night, and then it persisted all day Monday.
So the alternate approach, usually, is to create a master file - which now fails and gives me the error message (-60)
I can't think of a reason for this to be happening.
EDIT: Just tried outputting a different, much shorted clip as a master file and it worked fine. This just deepens the confusion.

    Ernie-
Thanks for responding...but still have a oroblem. Here's what I'm doing:
In Aperture I choose a "version" that has been Adjusted (croped, etc.).
    - Go to "File"...'Export"..."Version"
    - In next window for "Export preset" I choose "JPEG-Fit within 1024x1024"
    - Click on "Export version"
The exported version then showes up in "Finder" under "Pictures"
    - Next I open "Mail" (version 5.2)
    - Adderss email to friends in England.
    - Click on attachment (paper clip)
    - Choose my "version" from "pictures"
    - Back in Mail, click on "Format"..."Make Plain Text"
    - Send
My friends receive it as "bmp", not JPEG, with no Metadata.
If I do the same procedure but under "File" choose "Export Master", they receive it as JPEG and also the Metadata.....BUT, of course, no Adjustments, such as croping, that were made to the "Version".
What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to save the "Version" as a "Master" and then send it as a "Master"?
    Thanks,
    Nelson

  • Error with master page "insert current page number" when exporting book

Using InDesign CS 5.5 for Windows
Recently upgraded from InDesign CS (the really old one from 2003). I did save a copy of all my old version files and kept the old ID installed just in case (after reading all the horror stories on here).
In my old version of ID, I created a book made up of about 70 documents. Some of these documents are one page, others have multiple pages. In the multiple page documents, I used the "insert ... current page number" character (or whatever the command was in the old version) on a master page, and formatted it to read, for example: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 3 of 17, etc. When I exported my book to a pdf, it worked fine. (I do not want/have consecutive page numbers throughout the book, only in individual documents. By this I mean my entire book is about 280 pages, but not all of these 280 pages are numbered, just the groups of pages from these multi-page documents. It doesn't read page 1 through 280.)
Got my upgrade to 5.5 a few months ago, added some documents to the book, and (if i remember right) when I saved the book it asked to convert every old version document to the new version, which I said okay. When I exported the book to a pdf, some documents that are longer than 2 pages are now numbered wrong; the numbers are now going like this: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 3), Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 4), etc. Every page but page 1 is now page 2 of whatever.
If I open the individual document and export it to pdf, the page numbers work fine. It's only when the document is exported with the book that the page numbers mess up. And it's not all the documents in my book; this error starts at a particular document and continues from that point throughout the rest of the book, affecting any document longer than 2 pages. Multi-page documents before this point in the book export with the correct page numbers.
I create new documents by doing a "save as" with a previously created document and cut and paste as needed, so I'm not having to reformat or set up page numbers on each new document. I don't use layers or styles (I'm sure there's a better way to do what I need, but I've only had time learn the basics, just enough to be functional.)
My attempts to fix this so far (using version 5.5), testing with the first document where the error appears: (1) I've removed the document from the book, deleted the insert current page number character, re-entered the insert current page number character, saved, exported the individual document to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (2) I took the document out of the book again, exported the document to .idml, saved as new .indd with new name, exported to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (3) I started up my old ID version, opened the old version of this document, exported to .inx, closed, opened .inx in ID 5.5, saved as new .indd with new name, exported to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (4) I moved the document up in the book order, putting it above a document that has correctly numbered pages, saved, exported to pdf, and this document was still wrong, but the one that has been numbered correctly all along is still correct. (5) I've compared settings for this document to others that number correctly and cannot find any difference.
It's like the page numbers get hung on "2" when I export the book, but only in the last two-thirds of the book. Sorry it's so lengthy, but I hope this description of my problem is understandable. Any advice, other than going back to my old version documents and starting over?
Thanks for your time and for all the awesome information this forum provides!

    Mr. Spier
Right after I posted my question, I saw a post from last year where somebody had similar problems. (I cringed because I spent almost 3 days researching this problem and never ran across that post; thanks for not scolding me for posting a semi re-run.) I decided to try one of the easier solutions: I opened the problem document from the book panel, went to the master page and deleted the text box containing the page number, copied the page number box from a document that worked correctly, and pasted it into the problem document. Saved that doc, closed, saved book, exported to pdf, and it worked!! The page number problem was fixed. I went back and did the same thing for the other problem documents and they all number correctly now.
Probably not the best way, but for now this will fix it; I may have to do it again next time I add to the book. Although I didn't follow your instructions, I'll mark this as answered since it's working now. If it keeps giving me problems, I'll try the .inx export/new book route.
    thanks for your time

  • Why, when exporting as master file from FCX, I have problem with sync

I edited all audio of a short movie in protools, bounced a stereo file, imported it in final cut and shared the master file at prores 422, from there through compressor I have created 2  files (mpeg 2 and ac3) and burnt a  dvd but seems always to be out of sync , why?
fortunately  i still have dvd studio pro that allow me to "nudge" the  audio to fix the problem, but all this is quite time consuming.
    any advice?

I have fixed some issue about audio and video, created a new project with correct sample rate, imported the master video at same frame rate, and in pt bounced  a new track of audio, so  no orange bar, everything fine in FCX,AUDIO AND VIDEO PERFECTLY IN SYNC.  i exported a master file at best current setting and in compressor have created a dvd setup hi quality, 2 pass vbr encoding mode etc
and.. imported the m2v file and ac3 in DVD STUDIO PRO, and on time line i hear out of sync, now i don't know if the problem happen during the encoding in compressor or is dvd studio pro.

  • HR master data change export with Interface-Toolbox PU12

    Hello out there !
I implemented a HR master data change export with PU12 at one of my customers.
It works fine - with one little problem:
It is only possible to export one period (actual or selected).
Is there any possibility to export more than one period (also periods in the future) ?
The request is to export also master data with validity start date in a future period.
    Thanks for any help.
    Greetings, Holger Mächtig

    Dear Holger,
I am very curious about your problem last year. Is it possible to do a future export with PU12?
I am now working with PU12 for the first time and I have set up a export file in PU12.
But when I am doing an update without filling the name for the file layout I have the following error:
"An error occurred when opening the "export file"
When I am filling the file layout I have the following error:
"An error occurred when writing to an export file" (Error Number E107).
    "File processing: end of file".
When I am not doing an update the export file runs and seems right.
Do you know what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Yvette

  • Copy GPS Metadata Back into Photoshop TIFFs with Bridge Scripting

I've published a sample script on the Bridge blog about metadata scripting with Bridge and AdobeXMPScript -- specifically the script deals with GPS metadata and automation that synchronizes work done by both Bridge and Photoshop.

Handles ID, PSD, etc., files as well. Though the preview uses greeked text for the most part for the ID files.

  • GPS Metadata for Managed Images Bug

Alright this is really dumb. Aperture strips the GPS metadata for managed images on a version export, but does not for referenced files.
It just took me 4 hours to figure that out, ug. Metadata is sacred! Always preserve it.

My Aperture library uses managed masters.
I too discovered that if I performed *version exports* of geotagged masters the exported images did not retain the GPS data. The problem was the same regardless of whether the masters were .jpgs or RAW files. (Geotagging was performed with Maperture and Maperture Pro; the bug symptoms are the same regardless of which tool was used.)
Additionally, I discovered that if I performed *master exports*, then not only were the geotags retained in the exported files, but that +reimporting those same exports resulted in new masters whose versions would subsequently retain their geotags on version export+.
    synonym wrote:
If you Relocate Masters... BEFORE you add GPS metadata using Maperture you don't lose any IPTC metadata. If you then Consolidate Masters... you can then apply GPS metadata to these images within your Aperture library and you will not lose IPTC or the GPS data on exporting the versions.
If I'm reading this correctly it sounds like you can "scrub" your library of the problem by relocating masters and then consolidating them again, and that subsequently applied geotags (and by inference IPTC metadata) will be retained on new version exports. Did I get that right?
However if you already have loads of images in your Aperture library that you have added GPS data to with Maperture and you also have loads of IPTC metadata on them and adjustments what do you do?
I did a backup of the library at this point to a vault. I then restored the vault and GPS data and IPTC metadata was all retained and was also all retained on exporting versions!
And if I'm reading the last sentence of your post correctly, it seems like the consistent behavior between our two situations is that if *images are brought into the library with geotags already in them* - in your case by library restoration and in my case by re-importation of previously geotagged masters - *then the geotags will be retained on subsequent master and version exports*.
Is that a valid conclusion to draw? If so, it sounds like I could workaround the problem of geotags missing from my version exports by either A) relocating and then consolidating my masters, or B) by the three-step process of:
    1) geotagging my images,
    2) updating the vault, and then
    3) restoring my library from the vault.

  • Can't find IPTC metadata after Aperture export into Lightroom

    Hi all,
I'm sure you've already worked through this pain, so maybe you'll have some insight for me:
I am exporting approximately 25,000 images from Aperture 2.1.4 and importing them into Lightroom 4.  I started working with my small projects of about 300 images to test.  From Aperture, I exported the Master files with the Sidecar (IPTC4.XMP) files.  [My masters are a mix of .jpgs and .NEF, and I read that the jpgs don't always carry the meta data through].  I successfully imported the master files into Lightroom and ran the "Read Metadata from File" command.  I also exported the keywords file from Aperture and imported those into Lightroom as well.
Prior to exporting, I edited one file in Aperture by entering "test caption", "test location", "test keyword", "test copyright" etc. into several of the IPTC fields.  These fields are NOT appearing in the equivalent Lightroom fields.  I checked the .XMP file (using text edit) and it does contain the correct "test values".  I am getting all of the EXIF metadata, but none of my custom values.
Is it as simple as not looking in the right place in Lightroom for my values?

    John, and Brent -
Yes, thank you, you were both right.  Here is an updated screenshot showing the image in both applications, with the metadata where I expected it.  The trick, in my case, was to follow "Method 1" in the link above, to write the IPTC data into the .jpgs.  I'll use the sidecar method for the .NEFs, probably.  Also, expanding the fields proved that the keyword was present.  I'm sure I can mess around with the Display Metadata options from Default to other things.  All well; heroes to the rescue!

  • Metadata and ePub export and custom XMP fields...

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to add metadata apart from the fields that
already are available in the ePub export dialog and XMP panels? The
iBookstore requires a bunch of stuff that I can't find any place to add.
This trial script that I've put together does add an entry to the DC
metadata (as you'll be able to see in the XMP panel), but it is not
retained when the InDesign document is exported. (I believe that it was
from Tomaxxi's website that I got quite a lot of help for the script.)
If I don't get any answers here I'll take this over to the scripting forum.
    Thanks,
    Ariel
PS I hope the following script comes through ok. I've got to post this
via email, which often mangles things. Apologies in advance if that is
    the case.
    myDocXMP = app.activeDocument.metadataPreferences;
    destNamespace = "http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/";
    destContName = "ArielsContainer";
    destNodeName = "ArielsSpecialMetdataField";
    nodeValue = "Great ePub!" ;
    myDocXMP.createContainerItem(destNamespace, destContName, undefined,
    ContainerType.ALT);
    myDocXMP.setProperty(destNamespace, destContName+"[1]", nodeValue);

    Hi David,
Right. I also suspect that ID is "hardwired" to export only specific
categories of metadata. And even if I can add to the DC metadata, it
still won't come through on export -- that's my guess. But maybe,
    hopefully, I'm wrong.
The script that I posted does add metadata to the DC category (as can
been seen under the Advanced tab of the XMP Panel). But it adds it in a
    slightly funny way (as an alt container, and not an alt-text container;
there's no scripting option that I can see for creating alt-text
containers, but, on the other hand, I don't know what the difference
between the two types is). Also, it creates some sort of weird array
    (hence the ).
In short, the script doesn't prove that ID won't export additional
metadata if it's added in the right way.
I wonder what you mean by "adding custom metadata" in a non-printing
story? Also, if that ends up in a .xhtml file that's not so useful,
because we need it to land up in the content.opf file to be of any use,
    I think?
Again, I'm not sure what PRISM categories are. But I did actually
download the XMP SDK at one point, though I never really explored it. If
your extra metadata exported to PDF, would it export to ePub as well?
Did you try exporting with CS4, even if not with CS5.5?
    Thanks,
    Ariel
