GPS never offline on my Nokia C7.

Hi,
GPS on my Nokia C7 asks an internet connection each time I want to use the GPS. I want to use it OFFLINE but for the moment, it is always ONLINE.
I've an internet package at Bouygues Telecom.
My settings for GPS (Menu->Parameters->Positionning) are:
GPS assisted: untick
GPS integrated: tick
Bluetooth GPS: untick
WI-FI/Network: tick
Defined by network: tick
A friend has N97 and she can use its GPS offline: she has never request for an internet connection.
I live in France and it is to use it in France and abroad also.
Abroad, I must pay for an internet connection in more.
Thanks for your help
Stephanie

Sorry for jumping in..
..but what you have mentioned may be the selections you get on the main display..At the bottom do you see any tab for Settings or Options or something like that.. (in place of Menu and Back.. as you see in the screenshot posted by aspergerguy..). If so.. select it to see whether you get it...
No worries, it was my bad using screenshot from N8 a similar Symbian^3 which has possibly caused confusion here, as on this device (N8) this option appears top right of screen; just trying to eliminate all possible reasons for application using network access here.

  • GPS never finds any satellites

    Hi All
    My first blackberry and my first post - blackberrys ROCK!
    Lovin my 8110, only one niggle - one of the key things i wanted this phone for was the GPS, but suspect i may have faulty hardware as the GPS has never found a single satellite, it just searches indefinately.
    Google maps for example, i select "My Location" and it thinks i'm half a mile away saying "- Your location within 1200 metres. Waiting for GPS". The GPS never responds, i presume it's getting within 1200 metres by triangulating my position via the telephone network (vodafone).
    Blackberry Maps - "Searching for satellies..." Again, never finds any?!?!?
    Options -> AdvancedOptions -> GPS:
    GPS Data Source : Device GPS
    GPS Services : Location On
    GPS Location:
    Latitude : N 0* 0.00'
    Longitude : W 0* 0.00'
    Fix Time : None
    Number of Satellites : 0
    Accuracy : 0.0m
    Location Aiding : Enabled
    Are my suspicions correct, was my phone delivered broken?
    Thanks in advance
    Tom
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Try refresshing the Gps, go to menu, options, advanced options, gps, press menu again and refresh GPS
    Remember, you need to stay outside to receive the satellites signal

  • Offline mode problem nokia N73

    Hello, I have a problem with my Nokia N73, after having passed in Offline mode, it is impossible to change it. I carried out a hard reset by *#7370#, the phone posts general mode, but when i wants to connect to the network it posts phone in Offilne mode. I have try an firmware update using PC suite, but thephone must be in general mode before this operation can be carried out. what can i proceed. right now it is impossible to use my phone.

    I am now on my 7th N73!
    Yes, I am probably mad still giving this phone a go, but I Like the phone, so I keep giving it another go! (plus the fact that I cant find any other phone on the market right now that I really like)
    My network operator has been great, and has always replaced it for me every time I have had problems, but I must say it is now getting a bit too much.
    The last one I had, I got 2 weeks ago, and was a brand new one with the latest s/w update.
    First time I put it into OFFLINE mode, it refused to change back to normal. (this was a new problem I did not have with the first 5 handsets so I have a feeling its a problem with the latest s/w)
    a week ago I had it replaced once again with a brand new one.
    Went away, and put it into OFFLINE mode again while on the plane, and guess what? it refused to change again.
    Nothing helps; I have tried taking the battery out, taking the sim card in and out, nothing!!!!
    Now they want to give me an N93, but it seems way to large to me, plus it probably has the same problem, using the same operation system.
    How the hell could they release a phone with so many problems?Message Edited by robf on 23-Dec-2006

  • Blank offline mixes in Nokia Music

    Has anyone experienced specific mixes dissapearing or appearing blank when downloaded to offline from Nokia Music?
    http://www.nokia.com/support

    Hi. I have this problem. I have the Lumia 720 and I cannot get a offline mix that is ever complete. Sometimes it is completely empty, other times it has 2 songs in the Top 40. Now I would guess that the Top 40 would have 40 songs and not only 2? (just a little joke) From my perspective I am thinking that Nokia Music doesn't handle error correction very well. I connect via a 2Mbit/s satellite connection and if I have the connection for myself, I get possibly 30 of the 40 songs, when I have to contend with colleagues that's when I only get 1 or 2 songs. Our satellite connection although perfect for receiving emails and browsing in the middle of the Congo on a mine, needs a good download manager to get a large file downloaded so to correctly verify the packets received for corruption as many packets unfortunately do get corrupted. I hope Nokia work on a solution for this, as I'm sure there will be others with unreliable connections out there. Frankly, I did download a couple of mixes while in the USA via an ADSL connection and even then, one or two of the mixes seemed incomplete.

  • Third party GPS SW provider for the Nokia 5800

    I have been going though the posts for some time now in reagrd to GPS SW for the 5800, namley touch screen, I am not interested in the Nokia maps but a third party SW.
    I read that Garmin have a version which is supposed to work with the touch screen but could not find any support for this on the Garmin site, other manufactures like AmazeGPS claim there SW works with the 5800.
    Does any one have any additional info on this issue?

    I Use Garmin on my 5800 but find it tends to freeze up a lot. Also when navigating in landscape mode, The Application will Beep and then exits for no reason

  • GPS-status-bar disappeared from Nokia maps

    Why isn't the little gps-status-bar shown anymore in my Nokia maps (3.04)?
    Positions methode is set to 'integrated gps' only...
    Any thoughts?

    It took a bit of getting used to at first but I am used to it now. That's the way it is with any change. Some people get used to and comfortable with things the way they are. Any change at all is uncomfortable but it will just be a matter of time before you get used to it and don't think any more of it.

    WP is a completely different OS. The team effectively started from scratch. Whwn the Lumia 800 was first launched, even Drive didn't do offline. The plan is to eventually provide the same user experience for WP. Will see how far they have gone with the next iteration.
    And no one were thinking of starting the development earlier, so that the Lumia navigation had been at least as good as on several years old Symbian when the Lumias were released almost a year ago?
    Maps and Drive on my Lumia 920 can now be fully used in Offline mode. You can search for addresses and use turn by turn navigation without the need for an internet connection.

  • Offline installer for Nokia Ovi Suite

    I want to install Ovi Suite on a system which is not connected to the internet. Where can I download a full (offline) version of the installer?

    Although the links to Ovi Suite downloads say Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe, it is 88Mb in size, so it may contain all the basic functionality, and may use the Internet connection only to check for latest updates.
    If anyone can confirm this, it would be great.

  • Offline wikipedia for nokia phones

    I have just read an intersting article about putting the whole of wikipedia on the iphone. here is the article
    http://collison.ie/wikipedia-iphone/
    just wondering if any one has built a similar app to work on nokia phones, or if any one could offer some advice on how to develop something similar for nokia phones

    Yes, that would be a nice app to have on the N95 8GB!

  • How to exit from offline profile in Nokia 9300 com...

    My phone is currently in offline mode. I can not exit offline mode from phone mode. The device mode (when I open phone covers is not working). If I press power button it said that "Offline profile is active". I tried hard reset with shift+ctrl+F but that does not work. Are there any way to exit from this mode and if not, how I can recover my data which is unfortunatelly not all on memory card?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    First of all you should create outbound plug in the window you are trying to exit with plufg type "Exit"
    Then create method handler in the view with this code
            data lo_view_cntr type ref to if_wd_view_controller.
            data lo_win_cntr type ref to if_wd_window_controller.
            data: l_parameter_list type wdr_event_parameter_list,
                  l_parameter type wdr_event_parameter,
                  l_val type ref to data,
                  l_val_url type REF TO data.
            field-symbols: <fs> type any,
                           <fs_url> type any.
            lo_view_cntr  = wd_this->wd_get_api( ).
            lo_win_cntr = lo_view_cntr->get_embedding_window_ctlr( ).
            CREATE DATA l_val type c.
            CREATE DATA l_val_url type string.
            ASSIGN l_val->* to <fs>.
            ASSIGN l_val_url->* to <fs_url>.
            <fs> = 'X'.
            <fs_url> = 'http://your-link.com'.
            l_parameter-name = 'URL'.
            l_parameter-value = l_val_url.
            INSERT l_parameter INTO TABLE l_parameter_list.
            lo_win_cntr->if_wd_view_controller~fire_plug( EXPORTING plug_name = 'EXIT_PLUG'
                                                                    parameters = l_parameter_list ).
          You can easily change this logic to exit application instead of redirecting to the site
           just changing to
           l_parameter-name = 'CLOSE_WINDOW'.

  • Problem Using Nokia GPS for Free

    Hi, so I own an X6 16GB for T-Mobile without a data plan and yesterday I was driving and got slighty lost, decided to open up the map because I knew where I was supposed to be going and wanted to confirm the streets I was driving on were matching up.
    A few minutes later when I look at the map I notice that the red dot is moving in real time with my driving, meaning I'm online somehow. This was a suprise to my since I have no data/online plan for my T-Mobile contract. I then get curious, enter an address and the phone starts working like a regular GPS device telling when to turn, how far away I am etc.
    A little later I notice that it says I'm connected T-Zones or something like that and shows that I'm sending and recieving 'packets' so I panic and immediately disconnect uncertain whether or not T-Mobile will bill me for data and here is where it gets complicated.
    A day later I go to My-tmobile website to see my plan usage because they update all your activities every few hours and under the data usage section it shows 0kb sent and 0kb recieved even though 24 hours ago when using my GPS it said I had sent and recieved several hundred kb. I'm confused now though, so is that the GPS function is free from Nokia but I still have to pay for connections from my carrier or it's free even without data connections?
    Thank you.

    Go to maps>settings(spanner bottom left of screen)>internet>connection and set to Offline. Then go to Menu>applications>Location>Positioning>Positioning methods and make sure only Integrated GPS has a tick next to it. That way the GPS will not connect to your network and will rely on the satellites for navigation.
