GPS Tracking Software

For what it's worth, there is a new GPS tracking software from www.mapmates.com.au
I use it on my N95 and my friends use it on their 6110's. It enables you to find your friends or kids using Google maps

New Nokia tracking software is now available in the market in cheap price

I just purchased my Ipad 2 64g. The main reason I purchased was to use the gps moving map feature. I have the paid AP but the gps does not work. Do I need an auxiliarry GPS?

Is it just the wireless 64g, or the one with 3G?  If just wireless, you purchased the wrong one.  Also, if you just wanted GPS tracking, a GPS would have been a cheaper solution, no monthly charges.

  • GPS tracking way off in iOS4 and/or iPhone4?

    Hi
Have any of you guys noticed problems with tracking using iPhone4 and/or the new iOS? Over the last couple of weeks I have had a lot of problems when I'm tracking my hikes - especially the altitude is waaaaaay off. Different GPS tracking programs (e.g. Gaia, MotionX, Accuterra) would show me as being at, say, 2400ft, whereas the correct altitude would be 3200ft. After a restart of the phone or turning on/off airplane mode, the altitude would now correctly show 3200ft. It appeared that the programs were unable to update the altitude correctly both as I was walking up the mountain and down. This is not specific to a particular GPS tracking program, as opening up different programs and checking the altitude would show almost the same (and wrong) altitude as other programs.
Also, I recorded A LOT of spurious waypoints on my way. I have now tried this on 4 different mountains and the problem persists. I'm just wondering whether this is a general problem or a problem with the GPS software? Have a look at an example trip with problems here (you may need to zoom in):
    http://www.everytrail.com/viewtrip.php?tripid=807646
And nope - I wasn't walking around in circles.....
    Others?

I'm getting very interested in GPS problems across the entire iOS device range. Ive got a 3GS and the GPS satellite fix stopped working completely recently. A fix identified using jailbreak and an ssh terminal tells me a good proportion of these problems are with locationd, the gps process in the iPhone, or more accurately, I think that it's possible for some of the data this process uses to become corrupted; the "fix" involves stopping the process and deleting the data it uses. On restart, locations is forced to rebuild the data, and everything then works.
I suspect this is true across the iPhone range - and worse, I think that the backup function in iTunes actually backs up the bad data. Thus, when you restore from backup, you actually put the problem back in! Either that, or GPS cache data isnt deleted when the iphone is restored.
What we need is an option in iTunes, or the iPhone settings, to clear GPS ephemeris and related data down and restart locationd: this will save apple a fortune in support at genius bars, as I reckon everyone who is getting a replacement is just getting a reblanked refurbished iPhone with no hardware fixes - they could be turning them around in the back of the stores!
We need to get some group pressure together to get an answer out of apple on this really - they do seem to have an approach which has much in common with the way the UK banks were dealing with overdraft fees - if you complained, they refunded just to keep you quiet and make sure you didn't shout. If this issue is an underlying gps driver or application demon issue, they should give us a way to work around the issue.

  • GPS track/waypoint file import or merge into iPhoto

Does anyone have a workflow to import a GPX file into iPhoto to geotag photos from the tracks and waypoints? Regardless of whether JPG or Raw?
I have GiSTEQ 111 with software. I can extract waypoints and tracks into files. I have thought to either import into their Jetserver and then re-import into iPhoto. Or instead of Jetserver, import into Photolinker and then reimport into iPhoto.

Prune (http://www.activityworkshop.net/software/prune/index.html) is not really a workflow, but it is a nice Java application that works well on Mac and has quite a few controls to attach photos to GPS tracks (it uses the GPX format for the tracks, which is available from many GPS devices). If you want to save the GPS co-ordinates back to the photos again, you need to use EXIF Tool (http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/) which has a Mac DMG file to install it.
This will not work directly with iPhoto, but it will work directly on the photos themselves, and all the software is free.
As an aside, Prune is great for getting rid of all those "unwanted" sections on a GPX file, such as when the GPS device was searching for its position, or you forgot to turn it off and it kept recording, or to split tracks into separate pieces or join separate tracks into one. I started using it for this reason, then realised how great it was for photo tagging.

  • Creating new track - software catalog new product not showing up - Help!!!

    Hi,
Creating a new track for custom development.
A new product has been added in the software catalog in SLD.
SLD and NWDI (netweaver 04) are on the same system.
The new product is not showing up when trying to select in the new track, Software Components for Development section. Why??
Does the server need to be restarted after adding a new product? This is difficult for us as SLD has production systems tied to it!!!
    Thanks in advance
    Regards, Neeta

Thanks - This did the trick. I have awarded points!!!!

  • How can I use my iPhone as a GPS Tracker?

    My Phone:
    iPhone4S
    iOS 8.0.2
How can I use my iPhone as a GPS Tracker? My requirement is not just finding the iPhone using find my iPhone but to use it as a GPS Tracking Device. I wish to enable GPS on my iPhone and want somebody to locate my movement continuously. Earlier I used to do this using my Nokia Phone with Google Latitude. Currently I know Google Plus has a Location Sharing Option also but that doesn't give location details continuously. Any help?

  • Can I tell if I have activated any tracking software on my Macbook that will help me find it.

My Macbook Pro was stolen today.  I know that I have logged into iCloud from this laptop before but I am not sure that I have specifically activated any tracking software.  Can anyone suggest any ideas for tracking this down - unlikely I think.

Find my Mac may be enabled on your MacBook Pro. To check this, open http://www.icloud.com on any PC or Mac, log in with your Apple ID and choose Find my iPhone. Your Mac's location will show up if it's connected to the Internet, and you will be able to lock or wipe it. Also, you can do this through an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with the Find my iPhone app.
If you can't track the MacBook, there's no way to locate it at the moment. If the thief erased the MacBook, you won't be able to track it anymore even if you enabled Find my Mac

  • Does anyone have experience with laptop/computer tracking software?

    Hi all,
I travel a bit for work, and the last software I bought for this purpose turned out to be completely useless.
The laptop is "located" usually nowhere near where my computer actually is, in fact I can't remember the last time the location was correct.
In the past 11 months my laptop was "located" in South Carolina when I was actually in New Orleans, Colorado when I'm in Wisconsin, and Eau Claire, Wisconsin when I'm in Madison, WI.
What use is a computer tracking app if it can't get the computer's location right?
I've heard about Project Prey, or Prey software--does anyone have any experience/feedback with this tracking software?
BTW, the tracking software I last used is MacPhoneHome--avoid at all costs.
Whenever I tried to contact them to try and figure out the issues I'm having, my correspondence was ignored until the fourth or fifth attempt, and when they did respond to me it took weeks for a response, and the response was always a very unhelpful, unsatisfactory answer.
And after all the time and frustration (and expense) of dealing with MPH, the software still doesn't work correctly.
    Take care,
    Brian

The OS X app is called Find My Mac.  All you need to do to enable it is
go to System Preferences > iCloud and check Find My Mac.
You can then track it (and your other registered Apple devices) using iCloud.com.
I highly recommend it.  It has features to disable itself or wipe itself clean if lost or stolen.

  • What is the best investment tracking software for macs?

what is the best investment tracking software for macs?

Three issues to consider about an external HD:
    1. Connectivity. In other words, USB 2.0 and Firewire. If you intend to move large chunks of data at once, such as when streaming audio or video for professional applications, then Firewire is better suited for that. Otherwise, for normal applications, USB is ok.
    2. RPMs. In other words, how fast the HD platter spins around. Most consumer HD have a 5400 rpm (rotations per minute) speed. Some HD have a 7200 or even 10,000 rpm spec. The faster the rotation, the faster the access time, the faster information on the HD can be accessed. Not a critical factor unless you deal with audio or video.
    3. Brand. In other words, reliability. Best ones, form my experience, are Seagate and Western Digital. Go for Seagate if you can. I've never had any issues with a Seagate drive. You can also go to your local computer shop and they will have separate drives and enclosures, so you can customize the look and connectivity of your HD.

  • Asset tracking software

    Hi,
I'm looking for some asset tracking software to monitor and manage around 1,000 Windows machines (various OS) and 500 thin clients.  Being able to report on hardware/software config and metering the devices to prevent unauthorised/unlicensed software
from being run are also requirements.
I've used Express Metrix before, but have been unimpressed with the interface.  Would anybody be happy to give their opinions on applications they've used before with pros/cons?
    Cheers
    Andy

For assest tracking software, you can try this Assest management software (
http://www.itassetmanagementtool.com/ ) to track, manage software inventory. It helps generating different report that help convening available licenses .

  • GPS Tracking program that continues to track while using other iPhone apps

Does anyone know of a GPS tracking app for the iPhone 3G that will continue to track while listening to music or answering calls? The few apps I've tried quit logging when you change to another app.

Thanks - hopefully Apple will address this soon. I'm not willing to hack/jailbreak my phone just to get this functionality.
    One last dig:
This is the unfortunate reason that I've stayed away from Apple for so long. They make WOW stuff that is pretty and neat to use as long as you stay inside the "box" so to speak. I guess I'll have to take my old blackberry running with me - it can play music AND track your run with GPS. Who would want to do that?

  • What is the best way to geotag photos with data from GPS Tracker Log (GPX format)?

I just returned from a 4 month trip to Southeast Asia. Before I left, I set the time on my camera, a Canon 7D, to match the GPS time on my GPS tracker, a QStarz BT-Q1000X. Both times were set to UTC, also known as GMT.
I have imported the data from the GPS log into Aperture as a GPX file. Now I would like to sync the location metadata on my photos with the data from the GPS log. How can I do this using Aperture 3?
I seem to be having two problems:
Aperture wants to shift the times based on which part of the track I drag the images onto. Since the camera and gps tracker times were sync'd, I do not want any shift.
The time shifts that are displayed are 12 hours and a few minutes, rather than 0 hours and a few minutes.
    A few additional notes:
When I imported the GPS track, Aperture automatically changed the time zone of the track to Asia/Ho Chi Minh City, which is correct (GMT+7).
I have batch changed the images from Camera Time: UTC to Actual Time: GMT+7
The time on my computer is US/Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4), or Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) when the photos where taken.
Since I was gone for so long, and my GPS tracker memory is limited, I set the tracker to record a trackpoint once every 60 seconds.
Is there a solution to my problems using Aperture 3, or should I start looking for third party applications to geotag the photos before importing them into Aperture?
    Thank you.

I think the 12 hour discrepancy is more likely a result of the 12 hour difference between GMT+5 and GMT-7. The dates and times of the photos and the GPS track are displayed properly in Aperture. See the images below.

  • GPS tracking in labview.

I work with GPS simulation toolkit for labview.
I want GPS tracking in other PC with USB GPS receiver and drawing track.
It's possible? Some google maps/earth working API. I try some API, but it doesnt work.
I use LV 2012 student edition.
    Thanks for reply.

    Hello lacita,
You can take a look at this example I found on the NI community page, in case you haven't already. There's also a lot of shipping examples (in LabVIEW click on Help> Find Examples and search for "GPS") that are GPS related and some of them are specifically designed for Garmin ones.
What USB GPS receiver are you using? What API did you try?
