GPU Acceleration Not Supported in PS CS4 Standard

I was led to believe that GPU acceleration features (like smooth zoom and rotate) were supported in the PS CS4 Standard edition. Under GPU Settings, Performance Preferences, it states "No GPU options available with Photoshop Standard". To me this is misleading advertising - I would have considered the Extended version if I had known.
Maybe this will help others not make the same disappointing assumption I have. I think Adobe should make this clear in the future. It really does make me feel slighted.

Hi David,
Unfortunately the wording in the performance preference needs rework. There is already a bug logged, but it was found too late for changes to be made.
There is no Photoshop Standard, just Photoshop and Photoshop Extended. It also fails to clearly note the condition. I apologize for the confusion it has caused. Photoshop and Photoshop Extended both support GPU acceleration features for supported cards.
The intention was to communicate that under the current conditions Photoshop can not enable any GL drawing features.
You can find more information on GPU and Photoshop CS4 in this article:

I can't get gpu acceleration to work it just uses the cpu.
I've watched numerous 1080p videos windowed & fullscreen in firefox and IE on youtube, they play fine but their only using the cpu.
The only thing that i've tested that uses gpu acceleration is windows 7 media player.

    Edit: From Adobe support page....
"The desktop player still uses software rendering for this release. Software rendering is used because drivers vary widely on the desktop, and drivers can accentuate rendering differences"
Is it only for laptops ?  In the release notes of my desktop driver it says gpu acceleration support for 10.1.

  • DLL files not supported on soundbooth CS4

Hi there, I use soundbooth CS4 and downloaded some plugins, After the plugins are downloaded i open the downloads folder on my computer there is the plugin and a read me file. i click on the plugin and soundbooth opens. but when its done loading i get a failure notice reading that the plugin i cliked witch is a DLL file is not supported. I tryed everything to get it to work but it seems that the DLL files wont work. please help:)

    Hi Andrew,
It definitely sounds as if the installation did not complete for Premiere and Soundbooth. My first recommendation would be to run the installer again, and let it reinstall PPro and Soundbooth. (Don't worry, you shouldn't need to run through the ENTIRE installation process again. I share your unspoken pain on how long that process can take.)
If that fails, we can continue troubleshooting, though I'd highly recommend calling Technical Support as they are much better at detecting installation issues than I am able to offer here. Both applications should work exceptionally well on your system.

When I open Illustrator by double-clicking a file, I don't get acceleration. (bad)

  • Sorting, timecode positioning, cropping bug, GPU acceleration, AU support

There doesn't seem to be a way to sort the items in the queue. I added 126 videos to encode and it is terribly annoying to look at them all as a huge bubble rather than a single line with disclosure triangle.
There are no options for repositioning timecode burn-in. The title-safe options are in an awkward location, and the other options put it flush against the edge of the frame.
The cropping function looks proper in the preview but the export is actually applying it as a padding operation and strecting the cropped region to fill the fram unproportionally. Also, for some reason the crop affects the timecode burn-in and scales it as well as crops it off. I'd like the timecode placed in the letterbox area. Because of this bug, my workaround was to use Photoshop to create a 1920x1080 PNG with a 2.35 letterbox. I then used the watermark effect with full alpha to impose it onto the footage. In doing this I noticed another bug that resulted in a small artifact from the matte's edge at the line from black to transparent, almost like a scaling artifact even though there was no scaling applied.
Is there GPU acceleration? It is incredibly slow compared to Adobe Media Encoder on the same computer.
It would be awesome to have support for AU plugins to be used as effects on the audio track. The included peak limiter worked ok for the most part to boost volume, but I'd like to be able to use more professional plugins to do this. A LUT video effect would be great too.

  • GTX 750, gpu acceleration not working

Hello, i'm trying to enable gpu acceleration in after effects cc 2014 (13.2), but i just got a many ray-tracer errors.
    OSX Yosemite 10.10
    Cuda driver version (latest):

It's no big loss.  No fooling.  Adobe is doing nothing more with CUDA.  It's kaput.  Using Cinema 4D Lite which comes with AE CC 2014 is much faster and more efficient.

  • GPU acceleration not working when exporting images on Lightroom CC

I was monitoring CPU & GPU while exporting a timelapse sequence:
As you can see, GPU is idle when exporting images - CPU does all the work. So GPU is used only when moving the sliders in the Develop module for a fast preview of an image you are working on, but for export it isn't used.
What's your opinion? I'd like to have exports accelerated too. I was hoping for it. Exporting timelapses is really time consuming.
    Adobe pls?

I couldn't find the Cuda-Supported-Cards.txt file at first, didn't know about right-click .app file "show package contents", but then found it.  I also searched for the hack and some people said delete the file, others said add your Graphics cards to the file, others said add your graphics card to the the Opencl_supported_cards.txt file.  I added my card to the Cuda-Supported-Cards.txt first, and it didn't work.  I left the graphics card in that file, but also added it to the  Opencl_supported_cards.txt file and now it works.  Thanks so much.

  • GPU Acceleration not working with large .psd?

My GPU accelleration works fine, but after I saved a large psd and quit, the next time I opened the file, the gpu was greyed out in the options. If I quit PS and restarted it, gpu would work again for new and other files, but when I try to open this same one, accelleration is disabled every time -- worked fine when I first created the file.
Is there a reason that this file in particular is suddenly incompatible with accelleration?  It's not really that big of a file, 600mb.  I'd really like to know why this is happening and somehow get my accelleration back for this one file I'm working on.

    That's very interesting.
I've had OpenGL become disabled on about 2 occasions without knowing why it happened (never so far with 12.0.3 though).
Clearly there's some kind of "restorative" logic in Photoshop to try to overcome the numerous possibilities for failure due to OpenGL implementations being so diverse.
What's the pixel count, bit depth, number of layers, styles, content, etc. of this file?
What display adapter (video card) do you have?  What version of drivers?
I have recently seen a problem where the Text tool won't show its bounding box or cursor with a large file that's zoomed in.  I don't know whether this has anything to do with what you're seeing.
I don't know how feasible it is but it's possible Chris Cox or someone at Adobe might like to see the file with which a problem like this can be reproduced.

  • GPU Acceleration not working

    Hi,
I have the mercury Playback Engine CPU Acceleration activated in Premiere Pro CC 2014 but I'm still getting the red render line on my timeline.
This has only started happening recently, possibly after installing an update, I'm not sure.
Can anybody tell me what might be causing this?
    Thanks,

    OK Kevin:
    Premiere Pro CC 2014
    Mercury Playback Engine CPU Acceleration
    All recent updates installed
    Windows 7

    No error messages
This problem has only started in the last couple of days
No third party effects or codecs etc
    Hope that helps.

  • Is the Flash player GPU acceleration supported on the ATI Radeon X1900 XT?

Anyone know if Flash player 11.1.102.55 GPU acceleration is supported on the ATI Radeon X1900 XT? I didn't see it explicitly listed in the unsupported hardware list (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/921/cpsid_92103.html). The card is not displaying any of the stage 3D content unless I disable hardware acceleration. I get the same results whether I use Firefox, Chome, or Safari.
    I'm on a Mac, my system specs are;
    Processor  2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon

Graphics  ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)
If I need to I'll replace the card but I want to make sure it's the issue before I do.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

I'm wondering the same thing. I have an X1950 pro and am trying to get it to help out with youtube videos.
The latest X**** driver was released in 2010, and the original driver at the very earliest March 2009. Both the X1900XT and X1950 Pro are not listed on that list.
However, I do recall feeling Flash player 11 being slightly faster than Flash 10 when I first installed it. Flash still didn't become "10x" faster and 720p through 1080p video certainly still isn't smooth.
