GPU lowers speed when reach 90o

Hello all,
I was trying to troubleshot having frequent "big-lags" when playing some intensive gpu games (battlefield 3, crysis, etc...).
It happens that the GPU is used intensely, the temperature raises, and when reaching about 90 degrees, the core clock is put, by itself, to 200MHz instead of its fullspeed.
Ok, I can understand this preventive automation however I would like to put the GPU fan to its maximum level even if it does noise, and I would like to know if that lowering can be set to a higher value than 200MHz which causes a huge lag for 5s and makes me being killed by some mosquito or whatever.
Guys if someone knows about this issue, and knows about how to control the GPU fan, Core clock speed and threshold/hysteresis et.al please tell me. By now I am very frustrated because I know the GPU can give a lot but this behaviour is nonsense brute-force.

Hi kpoman
I would recommend that you use TPFanControl and set the fan to maximum - 64. If possible, ask engineers to reapply thermal paste. (Perhaps getting a better one for yourself and ask them to apply may be better.)

My brother works with massive Excel spreadsheets and needs to speed them up. Gigabytes in size and often with a million rows and many sheets within the workbook. He's already refined the sheets to take advantage of Excel's multi-thread recalculation and
seen significant improvements, but he's hit a stumbling block. He uses extensive VBA code to aid clarity, but the VB engine is single-threaded, and these relatively simple functions can be called millions of times. Some functions are trivial (e.g. conversion
functions) and just for clarity and easily unwound (at the expense of clarity), some could be unwound but that would make the spreadsheets much more complex, and others could not be unwound.
He's aware of http://www.analystcave.com/excel-vba-multithreading-tool/ and similar tools but they don't help as the granularity is insufficiently fine.
So what can he do? A search shows requests for multi-threaded VBA going back over a decade.

Gigabytes and data volume is about 1 million rows. If so, I will suggest you storing the data to SQL Server and then use the analysis tools (e.g. Power Pivot).

and the Power Pivot add-in

GTX 760 OC 2GB Fps drops and performance drops when reach 2GB

Hey after this problems with the GTX970, I decided to test my graphic card which I received from the RMA because the last one just gone, and when reach almost 2GB of ram used the performance drops a lot like in the 970, In games like Assetto Corsa I'm feeling this problem, sometimes I have drops from 60 fps to 20 fps ..
My model is the GTX 760 OC GAMING 2GB but the last which gone had the difference in the memory chip, using hynix memories instead of this new one which have Elpida.
Any idea?

P.S. Since I am burning coasters lately with the Pioneer DVR-111D, I though that I might solve the problem by using a lower write speed.

I dn't believe so with Disk Utility although you can with Roxio Toast Titanium. I would try another media brand, like Verbatim, as a first step and see if the coaster problem goes away.

I have had this problem several times. The iPad comes off charging with a black screen and only a hard reset works to get it back. Then you have to go to settings to be sure nothing changed there.
I have had serveral hard resets and three restore operations and the problem recurs. I am not sure if it is the iPad2 or an app that is causing the problem. So far I can live with it as is.

IDOC Segment missing when reaching to ECC

Hi,
This is file-to-IDOC scenario. When file is loaded XI is picking and creating IDOC with all segments as expected in XI, but when reached to ECC sytem main header and item segments are missing.
Refreshed cache, reloaded metadata in XI, did full system cache refresh but no luck.
Checked in ECC thru IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS function module to create IDOC and it did create successfully with all segments.
Segments are missing only when coming from XI. We are in SAP ECC 6.0 & PI 7.0. IDOC I am using is DELVRY03

Not enough speed when using AVI read

Hello!
I have a problem with the speed, when I'm using the 'AVI read' VI.
I want to read 60 frames per second, but my test.vi allows to read at least 20 to 30 fps (->33 - 50ms loop time), even when I do it in the easiest way (only the AVIread in the loop without any analize, graphs and of course wait functions).
The VI profiler tells me, that the AVI read VI only needs 1ms per loop. During that the CPU utilization is 10%.
My hard disks are fast enough, because its possible to write more than 60 frames per second in real time.
So, can anybody help me and tell me, where the VI spend its time and how to make it faster???

Hi all,
i just played around a bit using an advertisment video from Heineken. The default video is set to 24 fps which is displayed as expected.
I converted the video (sadly with a not so good comporession) to 72 fps. In Windows Media Player, i'd say that the 72 fps are maintained.
Using my Player.vi, the video is played with about 40fps on my Laptop. The CPU load is about 15%. So it seem that either my programming is bad or there is a platform dependency in the performance.
Removing the display from the loop (so no visualisation of the video), the performance got up to near 43 fps.
Gero, please confirm if this is the behaviour you are seeing. I asume quite an impact by different platforms, so feel free to check other systems as well.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

"An error has occured" when reaching 2.15 GB

Hello.
Every time I try to download Lion, I get this pop-up that says:
"The application could not be downloaded.
The application you tried to download could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again."
And in the "Purchased" window on the app store, it says next to lion "Install", and "An error has occured".
It's the third time that it happens today, and it happens exactly when reaching 2.15 GB.
Any ideas?

Same happens to me, with the difference that I try to re-download for my second computer and stops at 10.4MB,then restarts from 0 about 10 times and finally I get the same message as you. Have been looking for answers since yesterday, happened to other people - nobody seems to know what the reason is. Contacted support at the store, received a stupid email with link that got me back to my account to re-download (as if I didn't know where to go) and for now - completely stuck. Waiting for Monday to try to contact the store telephonically. Please, if u find solution somewhere - post it. I will do the same.

Low internet download speed when on battery (have tried previously given fix)

There is a drastic fall in internet download speeds when laptop is running on battery power. As soon as I plug it in, the internet speeds return to normal.I have already changed the wireless settings to high performance in the power management profile.How do I solve this problem?Any help is appreciated. Try force-closing the Music app: from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Music in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again, then try to play your music again.

Terrible speed when connecting two AEBS

I've noticed that I get terrible speeds when connecting two AEBS, one FE and GE.
My setup is as follows:
Broadband connection -> Linux router -> AEBS(GE) --- wireless --- AEBS(FE) -> MacMini
Using my macbook (n-enabled) as reference I've noticed that as soon as the FE conects to the GE I loose roughly 70% of my bandwidth (from ~90mbit to ~25mbit). I got these figures by transfering a large file using FTP and moitoring the bandwidth use on my linux routers internal interface using nettop. I've tried switching places with the basestations with the same result. I've also tried all four different radio modes.
Any advice?

A drastic drop in bandwidth is to be expected when you are using one to wirelessly extend the other. This is because every bit of data has to be transmitted wirelessly twice. Once from the main base station to the remote/relay and then once again from the remote/relay to the client.

Slow internet speed when using AirPort

I guess this may have been discussed before, but I could really do with some clear advice on the subject. I own a 2007 Mac Pro with an AirPort wi-fi card fitted by Apple as an option when I bought the machine. However, for some time now, I have experienced problems with my wi-fi connection when on the net.
Firstly, there's the signal. When I switch the computer on first and then access the internet, all four bars on the AirPort icon on my desktop are in black. However, after a while this starts to drop to three or two - sometimes even just one. The connection speed to the net decreases as the bars drop. When all four bars are filled in black, my connection speed is still not very good. My Mac Pro is not really far from my AirPort Extreme - in fact I have tried my old Windows XP based laptop in the same room and it appears to be fine provide better access speeds (even though it's an older machine)!
Secondly, my Mac Pro doesn't seem to like my 8 digit WPA-PSK security key on my modem (accessed through the AirPort Extreme base station). When I disconnect and try to re-connect to my network (as sometimes this helps my connection speed when it's low) the Mac asks me to punch in my key. I do this and it never seems to recognise it. Tried changing the password key through my modem's settings via an ethernet cable, yet still - when asked to type in the key when trying to access wirelessly - it is not recognised.
Can anyone offer any advice?? I have a Netgear modem/router with an AirPort Extreme 802.11n base station. I purchased my Mac Pro June 2007 from Apple.

I know cable connection is faster than bluetooth. But BT connection shouldn't be that slow.

GT70-2OC-408US Fan goes to max speed when idle

Just as the title says. The main fan goes to maximum speed when the computer is left idle overnight. Putting the computer in to sleep mode or restarting the machine solves the issue but that is quite annoying. This happened on both the stock install of windows 7 home edition and after I did a full wipe and re-install of windows 7 ultimate. I have looked at the bios update section and there are 2 bios updates for windows 7 but I do not know which one to use and there isn't much documentation with on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi I have a similar problem, the fan goes full speed from time to time when idle or when using youtube, facebook, etc. And the FAN will never slowdown again until i turn off the laptop or put it to sleep. What I have noticed is that the integrated video card runs hotter that the 770m discrete card not sure if that's the one triggering the fan at full speed.
I found a post about a fan controller for a msi gt70 2od laptop and it works, it truly modifies the fan speed, but not sure how good that is, because if the fan is being activated because of the card getting hotter and the fan is set to 10 or 20% it may not be enough to cool it down and keep the temperature at safe levels at least while leaving the laptop on all night long unattended.

BTW the fan started to work at full speed after I installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bits and continue to work this way even when I went back to Windows Home Premium 64 bits. Also a 8GB ram module was added to this laptop.
