GPU Not available

Has anyone found a soultion to the following error in AE CS6?
Under fast previews menu and GPU information, Raytracing drop down, I'm unable to select my GPU (GPU not available - incompatible device or display driver).
The Open GL dialogue is listing one of my GPUs (Quadro 6000) but the CUDA dialogue is greyed out.  I am utilizing the Nvidia Maximus configuration which incorporates the Quadro 600 card and a Tesla C2075.
I've updated all drivers and to the best of my knowledge am running the Maximus set-up correctly and on a system far exceeding minimum requirements.
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-262- - @ 2.00GHz 2.00GHz (2 processors) giving me 12 hyper threaded cores I believe (24 cores including the virtual cores)
64.0 GB Ram
It might also be of note that the GPUs are not recognized by Premier Pro CS6 or 3DS Max 2013.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Bobby

I am informed by the technician I had look at this that he has been able to make both cards in the Maximus configuration visible to 3DS Max and the CS6 suite of programs.
He also informs me that it was not a driver issue but an environment variable set automatically by Windows which was left blank and should have read 0,1
Now, this makes no sense to me whatsover but I hope it does to others and that this can help you out.

  • Mercury Playback Engine GPU not available

I've been reading through forum postings and have not found a solution, so I apologize if there is a solution posted elsewhere.
I have a 27" iMac (late 2012) with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX graphics card running Mac OS 10.8.5.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.3, and when I updated my OS to 10.9 Maverick, I began to experience several problems, including:
The dreaded spinning beachball and "Premiere not responding."
"This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) which is not available on your system. Mercury Playback Engine Software Only will be used.
Video files - I think they were all .MOV - became "squished" to the top of the Program Monitor (movie only took up about 1/3 of program monitor window).
After a long chat with Adobe Support, he indicated that the update to 10.9 Maverick was the problem, so I:
Updated to Premiere 6.0.5, but that did not fix any of the issues.
Logged in as "Root," which worked for a while but I also received 3 "Premiere encountered problem and must shut down."
Deleted preferences, repaired permissions, basic troubleshooting practices, etc, but problems persisted.
    No help.
Eventually I restored my computer from a Time Machine backup to a day prior to the OS 10.9 update, and this seemed to fix all the issues. So I was back to Mac 10.8.5 and Premiere 6.0.3.
But the .MOV-compressed-in-the-program-monitor problem began to surface again (see  photo below).
So I updated to Premiere to 6.0.5 (but not my OS - it's still 10.8.5), and the "Mercury Playback Engine" error is back.
And the .MOV files are still compressed in the Program Monitor. I have a project that I completed in 6.0.3, but is now messed up in 6.0.5.
Help please. Is the only solution downgrading to Premiere 6.0.3, and if so, must I do a clean install of the program from the DVD?

Thanks so much for your quick responses.
@Kevin, the strange thing is this: Express purchased this iMac and the Adobe Creative Suite back in January of this year, and the computer and software have worked flawlessly since that time.
It was only after upgrading, first to Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks (which I later downgraded back to 10.8.5), and then to Premiere 6.0.5, that I began experiencing problems.
Prior to these upgrades, I never received the "Missing Renderer" message, nor did I experience any lagging problems or problems relating to .MOVs in the Program Viewer.
    Hi Randy,
I'm sorry. I really don't know the answer to your question, or how that happened. All I know is that the card is not supported for CS6. I guess we have a mystery on our hands.
    harris1966 wrote:
Any insight on why I never experienced problems until upgrading software?
Sorry, it is behaving as if your text file was hacked prior to you receiving the computer. After you updated the OS, a new text file without your card was created. Your card would not be listed in that file because it is not supported.

Are you saying that PP doesn't support NVIDIA 680 MX cards "now that the software is at 6.05"? Or PP doesn't support that card at all, under any software version?
The card is supported for Premiere Pro CC, but not prior to that.

  • New Mac Pro, with Dual AMD D500's, GPU not available?

Is there something special I need to do to get the GPU to work in After Effects? Currently the GPU Information screen says I have Open GL but the GPU isn't available in the drop down. In particular, I'm trying to get performance out of Element 3D and I think it's actually rendering slower than on my 2011 Mac Pro.
This is what graphic professionals are using moving forward... please tell me Adobe hasn't dropped the ball on this one. It's been out for almost a year!

Gosh, yes. Avoid installing NVIDIA CUDA drivers on computers with AMD GPUs
    Consider it done! Thanks!

  • Flickering using CC 2014 (GPU not available and .mp4 not an option)

Recently, most of my projects are exporting with a strange flickering over the footage.
The projects vary from different sizes to green screen to having color correction.
There is no correlation between the projects that would lead me to believe that it is ONE thing within the project that is causing the issue.
I've been trying many export settings but the one I like to use most is
    H.264
    Progressive
    Square Pixels
    Render at Max Depth
    2 Pass
In other forums I've read that using the GPU Accelerator will help but my computer is unable to use this.
There have also been suggestions for not using .mp4 and that is not an option for me due to the industry I am in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • CUDA not available when trying to render with GPU

I have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos 17" laptop running Windows 7. It has a Nvidia Optimus 650m graphics card. All of my drivers and software are up to date.
I am trying to get CUDA working in After Effects CC so I can use GPU rendering, but when I try to, After Effects does not see it, so I can't use the GPU rendering.   According to information from Nvidia, I should be able to use CUDA.
In a brief Google search I saw one post by a guy when putting his laptop (same as mine) through the paces couldn't use CUDA. It was disabled or unavailable or something, but I have not found a solution. Anyone have an idea what could be happening?  Is this device really not supported?
    Here's the info from AE.

Here is some more information on my graphics card.  For GPU-Z, it detects CUDA.
One thing about my computer that I didn't mention, that it uses an onboard Intel HD Graphics 4000 for display purposes along with the Nvidia card.  I don't know how Samsung has it setup, but I cannot disable the Intel graphics in BIOS and if I disable the Intel drivers, my screen goes blank.  I don't think I can use only the Nvidia card.

  • Latest retina Macbook with GT750M - CUDA not available?

How can I get AE 12.2.1.5 (trial version) to use my Nvidea GT750m in my late 2013, 15 inch macbook pro (16 GB, all options ticked) for raytracing and other tasks AE can assign to the GPU? I am using the trial version of AE because I need to see it work before I get a year contract.
I would assume that the latest version of AE should run flawlessly on the latest and highest specced retina Macbook pro?
On start-up I get the warning that ray tracing is not enabled because it requires Cuda 5.0 or later.
Also, under preferences/preview/GPU information AE claims that I do only have CUDA 1.0 installed.
But I have the latest Cuda driver (5.5.47) installed. GPU driver is: 8.24.9 310.40.25f01
My macbook runs Mavericks (OS 10.9.2)
Under preferences/preview/GPU information the following information is displayed:

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Make sure you have installed the latest Cuda Driver, your OS is up to date, and that you have checked the box that says "Enable untested, unsupported GPU. . ." because the GPU in the new MacBook Pro R was introduced after it was decided to not continue down the Ray-traced rendering engine path and focus on integration with other 3-D Apps.

  • Satellite P100: Why the Nvidia 7900 graphic card is not available in UK?

Why is the nvidia 7900 gpu not available in the p100 in UK? In mainland Europe & Middle East the 7900gs is available. The 7900 gtx in the states is available.
    Why?

    Hi
I dont believe that its not possible to buy a P100 with the Nvidia 7900 graphic card in UK. If you cannot purchase it form the notebook dealer in your city so I would say check the notebook online shops.
I have investigated a little bi and found these P100 units with the nVidia 7900 graphic card.
    Satellite P100-426; P100-194; P100-191; P100-196; P100-215; P100-222
I have found three different graphic cards which were delivered with the P100:
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900; GeForce Go 7600 and Intel 945GM Express
Anyway, the P100 is a new notebook and possibly you cannot buy it in every shop but in my opinion in several times this unit should be available in the UK with the GeForce Go 7900

  • Mercury Playback GPU acceleration in CS5.5 not available, Mercury Playback Software only available

Getting a warning screen each time I open an existing project in PP CS5.5 that says GPU acceleration is not available on my system...when it has always in the past. Editing on a HP Z400 with the NVidia Quadro 2000. I can't figure out how to get GPU acceleration going again. The software only option makes for a painfully slow and clunky edit. Any ideas are gladly welcomed. Hot and heavy deadlines looming...you all know the drill. The warning window I get reads "This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration, which is not available on this system. Mercury Playback Engine Software Only will be used." And there is only an "okay" button to close the window. Also when I try to start a new project GPU Acceleration option is not accessible...defaults to the software setting and it's grayed out.

    Hi Joe,
Have you updated your video drivers lately? Any OS updates?
    Thanks,

  • GPU Acceleration: Suddenly Not Available.

I switched to Premiere Pro 2014 and now get this message:
This project was last used with the Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) which is either not available or not certified on this system.
I am using a non-certified card on a Mac Pro 2009 (ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB), but it had always worked well in previous versions of Premiere Pro.
Does this mean Adobe is no longer allowing users to work with non-certified cards?
    Thanks,

  • GPU not being used at all. (gtx 860M). Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.

    Hello!
I recently upgraded to windows 10 via windows update and did a clean install after the upgrade. Installed all the neccesary drivers etc etc. The usual drill. I consider myself rather tech savy.
After a few days of casual gaming with LoL i noticed that my Nvidia GTX 860M GPU was not being used AT ALL, only the integrated Intel HD 4600.
This was further proved to be right after I installed Path of Exile and kept getting BSODs each time after around 10 minute of playing with various error messages revolving around the file "igdkmd64.sys". I've tried completely deleting the drivers using safe mode and the driver cleaner program and reinstalling other drivers (ex. the lenovo driver dated 14/7. ) with no luck.
I've tried all the settings within intel hd graphics and nvidia controlpanel. I've also tried checking BIOS. No luck there either.
Both of the GPU's also show up in device management without any issues.
I also tried disabling the intel hd graphics within device managent which resulted in the basic adapters being used and my screen looks bad...  My current Nvidia driver is 353.62. I'll post some various screenshots here:
    Device management with both activated:
    http://bildr.no/image/Rjk3ZFpK.jpeg
Nvidia control panel with both GPUs active in device management:
    http://bildr.no/image/L3lYb1ZC.jpeg
This shows up when I try to check Nvidia display settings when intel HD graphics is DISABLED in device management. It basically translates to:
"Nvidia displays ettings are not available. You're not using a display connected to a Nvidia GPU"
    http://bildr.no/image/TS85TTZp.jpeg
My display settings options with intel HD graphics being disabled:
    http://bildr.no/image/ZUh2SVJV.jpeg
Can provide further information if required. Not sure what you need to know, but bottom line is that my GTX 860M GPU is not being used for anything at all.
i'm assuming that all I can do for now is to either wait for updated drivers from lenovo or to roll back to windows 8.1 (Works fine in win 8.1)?

More than a fix I think it has more to do with the graphics drivers and in some cases Windows 10 installation issues.
    About the Graphics drivers,
Try uninstalling the NVIDIA GPU in Control Panel > Device manager
Uninstall everything related to NVIDIA in Control Panel > Prgrams & Features
Restart the system and wait for it to install the NVIDIA GPU again.
I would also advise that you try older drivers, if they are available.
    About Windows 10 Installation,
I have installed Win 10 twice now. In my previous Win 10 installation my system was running slow, Cortana was not working and couple more issues.
In current installation, everything is working great till now.
What I did different in second installation -
I installed all drivers upgrades for Win 8.1
All windows updates for Win 8.1 before upgrading to Win 10
I downloaded Win 10 ISO and started Win 10 setup from a bootable USB (by running Setup file while logged into windows 8.1)
During upgrade, I did not Apply Updates for Win 10 (Selected the bottom option)
    Then windows installed normally
Updates to Win 10 were applied after installation.

my new filters tree flames and picture frame are greyed out and not available. what do I need to do?

It's likely that your graphics card/GPU does not support the new feature. If you are using an older video card or an integrated graphics card that is not new like the Intel Iris or Iris pro than that is likely the reason.

  • HP Pavilion g6 ATI GPU not functional

Due to the problems i reported in june with one of the pre-instaled programs (Skype) causing a BSOD, and the newest drivers for the laptop being very outdated, i have tried a lot of things trying to update my GPU drivers. After the issue was temporarily fixed (neither skype, nor sonix who turned out to have supplied the faulty driver, nor hp have done anything to actually solve it permanently) the system seemed to work normally.
However lately i've been noticing a lot of overheating, and applications running at substandard speeds, so i wanted to check on my gpu. As it turns out the device manager does not see the dedicated ATI Mobility GPU at all, and instead had been using the "powersaving" Intel GPU.
I tried reinstalling the original switchable graphics system from the HP site, because i suspected something might have been disabled there, as CCC was not available any more, but any attempted driver update from the SP53404 package fails to install the drivers for the ATI GPU.
What the hell happened? How can i get my GPUs and drivers reset to default conditions?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Actually, never mind. After a restart (i mostly only hybernate), the ATI card was displayed again, and thus the installation of the drivers was successful.
Switchable graphics, the dedicated video card and all features of it are working again.
