GPU OpenGL not working

OpenGL is not registering my AMD Radeon HD 6800 graphics card. I have all the current updates installed and I tried using my MMO and it worked fine so I'm pretty sure the card isn't the problem. I'm running Photoshop CS5.1 on Windows 7 x64. Please Help!

I've updated all my AMD drivers from the AMD website. I've opened my MMORPG and it seems to work just fine. Is it a problem between the card and Photoshop or just Photoshop? Dreamweaver seems to be running slow but that might be from the big files I'm using.

  • Flash gpu acceleration not working

I can't get gpu acceleration to work it just uses the cpu.
I've watched numerous 1080p videos windowed & fullscreen in firefox and IE on youtube, they play fine but their only using the cpu.
The only thing that i've tested that uses gpu acceleration is windows 7 media player.
    E6600 core 2 duo
    8800 gts 640mb
    Edit: From Adobe support page....
"The desktop player still uses software rendering for this release. Software rendering is used because drivers vary widely on the desktop, and drivers can accentuate rendering differences"
Is it only for laptops ?  In the release notes of my desktop driver it says gpu acceleration support for 10.1.

Same Problem with my AMD HD 7450 w/ Catalyst 12.04.
What does "GPUDevice: not available" mean? That is listet in every post here ...

  • Latest flash player, wmode GPU still not working in Safari

    Hi
I have the latest flash player installed, (10.2.153.1) but when i use the parameter
    wmode=gpu
in safari, nothing is displayed AT ALL. When right-clicking on the page, you only get the standard html options.
When I remove the 'wmode' parameter, everything works fine.
I have the latest version of safari. Everything works fine in other browsers (firefox, chrome).
    any ideas anyone???
    thanks!

Sometimes it is just a trial and error.  The main thing is since I'm not working with your files, I have to mimic your scenario as best I can.  Make sure you give it exact positions when stacking actual videos or swf files to force them to overlap.  I tested this first with just a swf file and now the example is swapped to stack to youtube embeds as examples.
It really shouldn't matter if it is a dropdown or what type of activity, as long as you have the stacking correct.  You can also, generally set the one in back to opaque. I updated the code snippet because this one seemed to read better.

  • W510 - nVidia 880M - GPU throttle not working any more

    Hi everybody,
my W510 (2 month old) used to throttle down the GPU from maximum performance (550/790 MHz GPU and Memory) to lower values (135 Mhz or something) when the GPU was nearly in idle mode. I don't know when it sopped working, but today I realized the GPU staying in high performance mode all the time.
I tried the things below but none worked so far:
    - changing through the different power schemes
    - updating the video driver with Lenovo update tool
    - installing the video driver from nVidia (using clear install option)
It has to be a software issue since I can manually change the clock using a tool called Powermizer Manager. But the "Auto" mode is not working any more. I watched the GPU clock with GPU-z.
Any ideas where I might have a look? I'm currently running the most recent Lenovo video driver.
    Thanks,
    Andy.

This is the response from AirDisplay ==>>>
    Hello,
My apologies for this issue. It's a bug we are aware of. It stems from an issue with OS X. Certain Macs that have a third party video driver installed will exhibit this issue. So, it's not just Air Display that causes this problem but other apps like Display Link, AirParrot, etc. will also have this issue. Apple has contacted us regarding the problem and they're looking into it. It's not actually something we or those other third party developers can fix. Apple has to address the issue with OS X. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

  • GPU Acceleration not working with large .psd?

My GPU accelleration works fine, but after I saved a large psd and quit, the next time I opened the file, the gpu was greyed out in the options. If I quit PS and restarted it, gpu would work again for new and other files, but when I try to open this same one, accelleration is disabled every time -- worked fine when I first created the file.
Is there a reason that this file in particular is suddenly incompatible with accelleration?  It's not really that big of a file, 600mb.  I'd really like to know why this is happening and somehow get my accelleration back for this one file I'm working on.

    That's very interesting.
I've had OpenGL become disabled on about 2 occasions without knowing why it happened (never so far with 12.0.3 though).
Clearly there's some kind of "restorative" logic in Photoshop to try to overcome the numerous possibilities for failure due to OpenGL implementations being so diverse.
What's the pixel count, bit depth, number of layers, styles, content, etc. of this file?
What display adapter (video card) do you have?  What version of drivers?
I have recently seen a problem where the Text tool won't show its bounding box or cursor with a large file that's zoomed in.  I don't know whether this has anything to do with what you're seeing.
I don't know how feasible it is but it's possible Chris Cox or someone at Adobe might like to see the file with which a problem like this can be reproduced.

  • OpenGL not working with Photoshop CS4 on MacPro + ATI X1900XT

    Hi,
i am running a MacPro 2x2 2.66 Ghz with 12GB Ram, an ATI X1900 XT 512MB and a GeForce 7300GT. The ATI is in Slot 1. Connected to the ATI card is an Apple CD 30", connected to the GeForce is an Apple CD 23" and a Sanyo TV-LCD.
*The problem:* when running Photoshop CS4 (Beta) i can not enable OpenGL as Photoshop does not recognise any video card (selectable under PSCS4/Preferences/Performance/...).
Adobe says in a TechNote (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405711&sliceId=1#mac) that this card should be working. The ROM of the ATI is up-to-date.
What - or where - else could i change something to get this to work? Any hint?
    Thank you.

Like some of the other posters, I have a MacPro with two video cards, the ATI X1900XT and the OEM graphics card. I bought the ATI to drive a 30" display. I have been using the OEM card to drive the Wacom. When I learned of bird's eye view in CS4, I too looked in preferences for the OpenGL status and found it disabled. Following the above suggestions regarding the potential two card confusion, I moved the Wacom to the remaining open spot on the X1900XT and removed the OEM card.
Voila! OpenGL became available in CS4 preferences and I also noticed a significant improvement in the screen redraw rate (I went into the advanced options when turning OpenGL on and also checked use for image drawing). Bird's eye view is also an excellent feature which I will use constantly. Note: To use bird's eye you must hold down the "H" key (even if the hand tool is selected). While holding the "H", start to drag the mouse and the image will zoom out to show you where you are in the scaled down image. Makes the Navigator view obsolete.

  • Opengl not working in 10.4.7

I implemented a cocoa application that renders lines and polygons to an OpenGL view. The application was working great in my MacBook Pro when I was running Tiger 10.4.6. After installing 10.4.7 the application stop drawing lines or polygons in wireframe in the OpenGL view.
The strange thing is that the application works well in a PowerBook G4 running 10.4.7.
There is something wrong with the 10.4.7 intel update and OpenGL. I appreciate if somebody from the apple community can help me. I was trying to have this project ready this week, but now with the 10.4.7 update I am just lost.

More info would help us help you. Is this an app you
created, perhaps with the developer graphics tools
like Quartz Composer? If so, have you tried
recompiling it under 10.4.7? Have you downloaded the
    latest Xcode version?
If not, can you supply more details?
    thanks for your reply:
I created the application in XCode 2.3
The application draws to an NSOpenGLView. I created the view in Interface builder 2.5.4, by first subclassing an NSOpenGLView named TrishearView, and then dragging an NSOpenGLView onto my main window and setting its custom class to be TrishearView. I follow the procedure outlined in Hillegass, Cocoa programming book, 2nd. edition, chapter 29.
I set the attributes of the TrishearView to be: Renderer : best, Color/Alpha buffer: Default, Depth Buffer: minimum, and Stencil buffer minimum.
The Initialization methods in my TrishearView.h file are:
    initWithFrame:pixelFormat:
    and
    initWithCoder:
I checked the program and I figured out that the initWithCoder: method was called when starting the program. This method has the following lines:
    self = [super initWithCoder:c];
    [self prepare];
    return self;
The prepare method has stuff inherent to the view such as lightning, material model, depth buffer, clear color, perspective calculations, and antialiasing.
The program was working fine until I installed 10.4.7 in my MacBook Pro. Afte r that most lines, or polygons in wireframe are drawn with the same color as the background. I figured out because I can see some lines when superimposed on a filled polygon.
The weird thing is that I updated to 10.4.7 in my old PowerBook. I compiled the project in my old PowerBook running 10.4.7 and the application worked fine. All lines, polygons filled or in wireframe display great.
So the problem is in my MacBook Pro running 10.4.7.
I have read in several forums that is not a good idea to set the pixel format of the NSOpenGLView in Interface Builder. But, this worked fine in 10.4.6 for both G4 and Intel, and in 10.4.7 for Intel. And it this is so buggy, why is there as an option (a very convenient option for a beginner like me) in Interface Builder?
Also, if there is a bug in my program, why does the program happen to work in my old PowerBook and not in my new MacBook Pro? This is very weird.
I can´t figure out what is wrong. This has delayed my work considerably. I was trying to meet a deadline. This is the first time I have problems with an update.
I will be happy to send you the source code if needed. Thanks for your help

  • After last kernel update OpenGL not working (radeonsi)

    uname -a
    Linux arch 3.14.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 13 16:41:39 CEST 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Just updated the Kernel and Steam and the games are not loading and giving me opengl errors. This didn't happen just before I updated the kernel.
When opening Steam I get this error:
OpenGL GLX context is not using direct rendering, which may cause performance problems.
    For more information visit https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art … -EYZB-7457.
When launching a game (Dota2) I get this error:
Could not find the required OpenGL entry point 'glGetError'! Either your video card is unsupported, or your OpenGL driver needs to be updated.
As said, this happened just after the Kernel update. I just reinstalled it and there's no error or anything.

I'm on Nvidia hardware but I'm also suddenly getting the same error after an update so it seems likely this is related.  Per your suggestion I downgraded the kernel (and I know it worked with this version):
    uname -a
    Linux ShawkatArch 3.14.2-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Apr 27 11:28:44 CEST 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
but I'm getting the same error.  However my glxinfo indicates direct rendering is OK:
    glxinfo | grep direct
    direct rendering: Yes
    glxinfo32 | grep direct
    direct rendering: Yes
    Portion of Steam errors:

  • Re: CS5.5 GPU Hack - Not Working?

I tried the EXACT same steps with Adobe Premier Pro CS5.5 to apply the GPU hack but after modifing the cuda_supported_cards.txt file Premier Pro CS5.5 will not start.  It will just crash.  But when I restore the cuda_supported_cards.txt it then starts up correctly (but with no GPU hack obviously).
What's wrong?  Anyone have the same problem?
FYI: I am using the Shipped Boxed Version of the software as it was shipped to me.

It worked!  OK so what I had to do was change the FIRST line of the text file to my graphics card's name.
The reason why it DIDN'T work before is because I was APPENDING my graphics card's name to the END of the text file, hence I was increasing the number of text lines by ONE.
So I think CS5.5 does a check for TOTAL lines in text, however if you change ONE of the EXISTING lines in the text file then it will work.
Please note I was using a shipped boxed version rather than the downloadable version.

  • Adobe Premier Pro GPU Acceleration Not working

Hello, I've been noticing that the gpu assisted rendering process in premier does not speed up even with the mercury playback engine GPU acceleration (CUDA).
I used as a benchmark a 1 minute clip of 30 fps avi gaming footage and rendered in H.264 at  10693 Kbps and i got these results:

  • CUDA GPU Acceleration not working on Dell 4700 K2000M

    Hello,
I have a new Dell 4700 laptop that was outfitted with the NVIDIA Quadro K2000M and my CS6 Premiere Pro does not allow me to choose GPU Acceleration as the option is grayed out for new files. I searched the web and tried several things suggested such as turning OPTIMUS off in the laptop BIOS, uploading the latest drivers for the NVIDIA card and still the Premeire Pro refuses to allow hardware acceleration.
Am I missing something? I really want this to work. Please help!!

  • Photoshop CS6 OpenGL not working

I have been trying to use the 3D features of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended and have been having no success. I have enabled the 'Use Graphics Processor' in the Edit->Preferences->Performance dialog box. I have also ensured that I have the latest version of the drivers installed. The video cards (in a CrossfireX configuration) are Sapphire HD Radeon 7970s. The thing is, when I installed Photoshop a few weeks ago, I tested the 3D functions and they worked fine. Now they no longer do so. I have updated video drivers and Photoshop since then but when I reverted back to the older drivers, the 3D features still didn't work. I have tested OpenGL in Modo 601 and Houdini FX 12 with no problems. I was wondering if I am missing something obvious.
    Thanks

The funny things is, the 3d options are not grayed out. But more importantly, I figured out a way to fix the problem. I deleted the Photoshop preferences on startup using CRTL+SHIFT+ ALT and this fixed the problem. I am now able to use the 3D features. I suspect that somewhere along the way the preferences were corrupted and while it showed that the 'Use Graphics Processor' option was enabled, it may not have been.

When I open Illustrator alone, then open a file, I get GPU acceleration. (good)
When I open Illustrator by double-clicking a file, I don't get acceleration. (bad)
I'm happy that the latest update made GPU work when I have multiple monitors plugged in but there's still this little bug. One that I can work around but still, not something I imagine makers of the lofty CC should be plagued with.
