  • How to print out wallet size photos on 6510 e-all-in-one series photosmart printer

want to print out wallet size photos (size 3 and a half x 2 and a half).  I have windows XP and my printer is the photosmart 6510 e-all-in-one series

You will have to change the settings in the photo editing software and put 2 wallets on a 4x6 or 9 wallets on a full page.  The photo tray will not take paper smaller than 4x6.

  • Can you lock a pdf to print in Actual Size?

I'm having an issues when others go to print out a document and don't make sure the document is set to print in actual size and we lose the scaling on the document. Is there a way to lock the print settings on a pdf so they are always correct?

You can set a Print Preset in Acrobat Pro in File > Document > Advanced which controls the way the Print dialog initially displays. Of course, someone could also change it. You cannot lock the print settings.

  • How do I print exact photo sizes?

I need to print photos exactly 5x7 and 8x10.  The old ZoomBrowser had settings to do that.  Now they've vanished, and using the Image Garden to print two bordered prints per letter size page gives me 51/2 x 8 photos.  I can't find anything in the manual about printing exact sizes, either.
I love the colors on the Pixma 100, but find using the new software very frustrating.  I wish you'd just left a good thing alone.  Is there some easy way to print exact sizes?

    Hi cabrosh,
Please try printing with Easy-PhotoPrint EX.  It can be downloaded by following these steps:
     1.  Visit Canon's website at:    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer
     2.  Type PIXMA PRO-100 in the "Enter Your Model Name" box and click GO.
     3.  On the Support page for your unit, click the 'Drivers & Software' link in the middle of the page.
     4.  Click Software.
     5.  Click on Easy-PhotoPrint EX.
     6.  If you agree, please select the checkbox next to "I have read and agree to the terms of the Disclaimer and wish to continue with the download".
     7.  Click on the Download button.
     8.  The file will be downloaded to your Downloads folder.
     9.  Once the download is complete, close all windows.
    10.  Double click the file that you just downloaded in your Downloads folder.  Files will extract.
Follow the prompts and installation will complete.
Once installed, please try printing 5" x 7" and 8" x 10" photos using that program.

  • How to create a PDF that prints at actual size for all printers

I create printable educational products for teachers and homeschoolers.  I need to be able to make some printable PDFs that have cards set to a specific dimension, say 3" x 3".  When I create PDFs in InDesign and print them, the printer tends to shrink the PDF down.  This happens even when I set the Page Scaling to None.  But regardless of what my printer does, I would like to be able to create PDFs that print at actual size for anyone who purchases my products.  How can this be done?  Can I change the settings when I create the PDF?  Do I need to includes special instructions with my products?  Thanks so much for your help.

You can specify the printing process in the PDF for Acrobat and Reader, open the PDF in Acrobat > file properties (right mouse click on the page) and in the extended tab (the most right tab) you can set printing not to scale for that PDF as default setting.

  • Change Printer Default Page size to A4 from Letter in Firefox

Firefox overides printer default page size every time I print. I need Firefox to print to A4 but it automatically sets the Page size to Letter. I have to manualy change the size each time I print.
There are no options in Firefox to change this setting permanently. I am running the latest version of Firefox on Windows XP.
In control panel the default page size is set to A4 which Internet Explorer and other applications use correctly.
    Thanks,

I solved it! For anyone having a similar problem try this.
Change the default printer, choose another one.
Change something in that printer and close firefox.
Reopen firefox and choose yet another printer (not the first one).
Change something in that printer and close firefox again.
Reopen firefox and choose the first printer. Select A4 as default paper and close firefox one last time.
Reopen firefox and the problem should be gone. Weird, innit?

  • Acrobat 7.0 - Print queue file size increase.

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone on these forums can help.
When sending a file to print the file size in the print queue can be many times larger than the original file size. For example a 1 page PDF file  762k was inflated to over 9.5Mb. Obviously this massively ties up our printer and is incredibly impractical when we deal with PDF's as a major portion of our work.
This doesn't seem to happen with pdf's downloaded from the web.
Currently we workaround by printing to our really old HP Laserjet 4000 TN this takes about 30secs a page, b&w and no duplex.
Our bright and shiny Bizhub C252 is effectively useless.
For various reasons our files are scanned at a pretty high resolution before being resized and worked on and there has been a suggestion that the pdf retains the resolution at which it was scanned and uses this when going to print.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey, Jon
    Interesting...
Original file (300 dpi CMYK images) 23.8 MB
    Images 19 MB
    Color Spaces 0.8 MB
Optimize with flattening (72 dpi images, low quality) 68.7 MB
    Images 49 MB
    Color Spaces 18 MB
Optimize without flattening (72 dpi images, low quality) 68.2 MB
    Images 48 MB
    Color Spaces 18 MB
Not sure why color spaces are down to 18 MB from 22 MB, I used a preset that I THOUGHT was the same one I used yesterday. Regardless, it's bizarre that both images and color spaces are getting huge when optimized.
I used Create PDF from Multiple Files to bring in a bunch of pages, but I'm reasonably sure that all those files were already flattened before I brought them in.
I'll file that transparency tip for next time though, you never know when it might come up.
    Thanks.

  • 13 x 19 print is incorrect size from InDesign or from pdf.

For the life of me, I can't get my 13 x 19 print to be the correct size from InDesign or from pdf with Canon Pixma mark 2 9000. Paper size is correct in InDesign, Presets are correct, but without fail, it shrinks my pages by about 10-15% .... driving me crazy, I have no idea why this is happening all of a sudden after changing computers.
    Using Mac OS X
    InDesign CC
Printing straight form CC nor straight from Canon printer; same wrong size results even through everything is set correctly.
The InDesign print dialogue box does not show the CC presets.
Print preview with image no longer appears.
The only clue I can find: when I print from Acrobat, and under the print dialoge, it has the option to "choose paper source by pdf page size". when I click on this, it actually shows that the page size is smaller than what it actually is... and prints it according to this, even though, I DID NOT click on this option.
    Ideas??

    weex,
Even though you believe you have the settings correct, I suspect you don't.  It would bebetter to have more info but what is the image size on the screen?  If you have 'maintain size' selected it will decide what size to print for instance.  What paper type are you using as some paper will not allow you to print to the edges.  Even though you may not have color out that far.

  • Printing a custom size?

How can I print a 3 1/2" x 4" photo? The picture is cropped to that size in iPhoto, but when I print it, it comes out much larger.

    Sara:
You're going to have to use a 3rd party application for that. iPhoto is geared just for the standard printing sizes. Go to VersionTracker.com and do a search for image editor or print photo. You'll get a number of candidates. Some use Portrait and Prints for customs sizes. I use Photoshop Elements which is also capable of some advanced editing.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Printing to pdf file - only prints in thumbnail size

Using Adobe Reader ver 10 and it will only create pdf (print) in thumbnail size. How can it be configured to create in full size 81/2 x 11?  Using Scansoft Create to create pdf files from word 2007.  Could the the scansoft printer driver be the problem.  Using PDF CREATE ver 5.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You need to ask in a ScanSoft forum. This is not an Adobe product and as already mentioned, Reader can not create a PDF. Also be aware this is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum.

Firefox was OK until recently, it could have happened with the latest

  • Exporting to print at various sizes

    Hello,
I am new to Lightroom and would really appreciate some help! I give my clients their pictures on a cd/DVD to take to their prefferd printer and make prints in whatever size they like. However, I have been readings some forums and am confused about how to export my pictures so that they can be printed at any size but without having heads or feet cut off during enlargements, etc. basically, how should I export my pictures do that they can be printed at any size ( 4x6 or 8x10 pr even larger)without any loss of image. I currently have it set at 300 dpi and no sharpening because I do my sharpening in Lightroom. Please help! Newbie here!

    >A print shop does not have to crop an image when they do an enlargement. And I don't think any print shop would do a crop.
Actually they do it all the time if the aspect ratio of the file you supply is not that of the print. They have to crop part of the image of if your image is 2x3 aspect ratio (i.e. a typical uncropped DSLR picture) and you're printing on 4x5 ratio (i.e 8x10, 16x20, etc.) or leave white strips on the side.
    >I have been reading through this post and I am still very confused. I have an image in LR that I would like to print. The lab has asked me the usual (jpeg, SRGB, 300dpi) but also that it is no larger than 1MB per inch. If the raw image is 4928 x 3061, does this mean that I can only take it as large as 16.42 x 10.20 without loosing quality (4928/300dpi x 3061/300dpi)????
You should't worry too much about that 300 ppi figure. If your file is well captured (good lens, good technique) and appropriately input sharpened (the detail panel), you can get away with much lower numbers than 300. Certainly anything above 240 ppi will still look superb. Many people will go much larger than 12x18 from such a file depending on the subject matter. You can get away with that because people stand further away to look at larger prints. I wouldn't hesitate to try 20x30 with such an image for example. I would worry more about the fact that 4928/3061=1.6 while 18/12=1.5, so you have different aspect ratios (its longer than the printing size) for your file vs the print meaning that the shop will crop off the long ends. If you want to make sure the wrong things don't get cropped of by the printer, you should first crop to a 3:2 aspect ratio so can control the final print better. Also realize that print shops will employ a bleed where they will print the image slightly larger than the paper, so you'll always lose a part of the image on the edges so make sure you don't have stuff all the way touching the edges that you care about.
    >I would love to print this image at 18 x 12 but whenever I upload it into the labs software, I am told that the file size is only 6.7MB - will this mean it will be poor quality???
No, jpeg filesize is not easily linked to quality. If you have large swaths of constant color and little noise in the image, you can end up with very small jpegs that have very good quality. Jpeg is a very efficient compression scheme and it is very good at throwing away information that is completely invisible to human eyes/brains.  You need to make sure that your jpeg quality is somewhere north of 90. Quality 100 is overkill. You cannot see the difference in prints even if you might potentially be able to see it on the screen. There is a good analysis here: Jeffrey Friedl's Blog » An Analysis of Lightroom JPEG Export Quality Settings
    >Can I print this crystal clear at 18 x 12 and if so are my settings below correct?
These are fine. As I said, quality 100 is overkill for printing, my standard is 85-90 which is already a little much as there are very few pictures that need it but is a good compromise to me. You also should crop this file to 3:2 aspect ratio first before you do the export as the export panel resize will NOT crop the image for you, it will simply fit the image within a 12x18 rectangle.
