Grab Mail Settings Only from Back Up

Hi Forum,
i have had to clean install my OSX 10.8 and wondered if i can download a settings file[s] from my back up for Mail instead of setting all my accounts up again and Search boxes and Mail Boxes?!?!
i have a full back up. Where do i look?
PS i dont want to download everything lock stock from Crashplan back up back to my MBP, firstly it doesnt seem to work properly and second i quite like the idea of the clean install and starting most things again. Clearing out the cr4p you might say... cleaning out MOST of the cr4p, email, photos and files excluded as i need them...

this is driving me nuts. Anyone any ideas?
i have copied my com.apple.mail folder from back up onto newly installed Mavericks.
i have copied all my mail files from:
users/andihawes/library/mail
into the same folder on Mavericks onto new laptop. but nothing seems to get picked up. i open Mail and its still sat at the installed settings and no email?!!?

When I try to set up e-mail accounts the mail settings icon goes back to main screen. I have tried restoring and the same thing happens.

I have a lot of CD's and I don't want to fill up my computer. How can I transfer all iTunes to back-up, so I can only operate iTunes from it. Then can I delete iTunes from my computer without losing iTunes on my back-up?

New drives may come formatted for Windows use with limited functionality on Macs. Format for Mac for best use.

Mail send only from one mailbox out of three

Hi,
I run Mail 7.3 on OS 10.9.4. I have 3 different mailboxes and Mial stopped sending from the different mailboxes and uses only one. I went to preferences and ensured this specific mailbox was not selected but that the setting to send from the selected mailbox was used. I even tried to use a different setting, selecting to send from a specific mailbox...still the same. Send always from the same one whatever the parameter selected. Any idea how to solve this problem ?

Try going to Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Account information and click the SMTP sever, choose edit and make an SMTP server linked to each e-mail address. If you still have problems, check use only this server.

I solved it by deleting the accounts and then starting again. Make sure you back up your mailboxes first... you will find the export function under the mailboxes menu

I have had to set-up a new user account on my mbp to use a new piece of software which refused to work on the main user account. I want to transfer the mail settings from the original one simply so that mail opens in an identical way whichever account I'm siging in with.

If you just need Mail settings, only copy
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
All the messages are in
~/Library/Mail

Are your contacts stored in an MS Exchange server, in iCloud, or some other source? Setting the Sync to less than All Events should not delete events, but only stop showing them on your device. However, Outlook also has a setting to actually delete events older than a certain date. Have you checked that?
If you log in to iCloud.com (and you are syncing with iCloud) what do you see? Whatever is there is all you can get on the iPhone, unless you can restore from another source.
I also suggest enabling iCloud Backup (settings/icloud - Storage and Backup). This will create a new backup any time your phone is connected to power and WiFi, so you will always have a current backup, painlessly.

I was having trouble sending to hotmail accounts from my Earthlink account, they had me go into Mac Mail preferences and make changes (because they claimed it was Mac Mail's fault, even though the hotmail error code said it's because Earthlink is blocked by hotmail), now Mac Mail doesn't work AT ALL - any help changing the settings back to correct Mac Mail settings? I can provide a transcript of the entire tech chat session, if that will help...

It says in this article: that you can keep your .mac and .me email addresses, even if your systems do not support icloud, as long as you move before 30 June. "If your contacts or calendars are only available on me.com, you must export your contacts and calendar data before June 30, 2012." before you move to icloud from a non supported OS (mine is 10.5.8.) I have done this. All the emails in and sent are now in Mail but Mail is rejecting any changes to the Incoming Mail server detail (Mail >Preferences>General). I have already set MobileMe to NOT synch (in my MobileMe account) but my iCloud has a MobileMe IMAP tag and always reverts to mail.mac.com from imap.mail.me.com, even though I have deselected and even deleted that old server. Before I am asked, yes I am saving the settings, but when I go back 'in' there they are again.
icloud is working fine (but without any contacts of course) when I am accessing through safari. I would like to have a mail account locally into which I could import my 'Address Book' and from where I could send and receive emails (like before).
There must be a way because otherwise Apple would not have sent me an email (like they did last night) which states:
You can now retain your me.com or mac.com address and keep your email working after MobileMe ends, even if you don’t meet iCloud requirements.
I have tried getting Entourage to work as well, no luck yet!

ps I can't upgrade to either Snow Leopard and then Lion because I am a photographer and my equipment (2 printers, 2 scanners) although old works brilliantly well with 10.5.8. but would be defunct if upgraded.

hello, unfortunately when you search for this error message it appears that it might be related to malware that is active on your system and blocks file downloads.
please try to run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner], [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx microsoft safety scanner] & [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan kaspersky security scan].

If you had Photo Stream enabled with your iCloud account settings on the iPhone, photos in the Camera Roll should have been transferred to your photo steam automatically when the iPhone was connected to an available wi-fi network.
Your photo stream is not available when logging in with your iCloud account with a browser on a computer.
Why were the photos in the Camera Roll deleted?
Photos/videos in the camera roll are included with your iPhones backup. If your iPhone's backup has not been updated since the photos were deleted from the camera roll, you can try restoring your iPhone from the backup.

On both devices when you go to settings>messages>send and recieve how are poeple contacting you on each device?. e.g. email or mobile number.

Good to know that, but what can I do to get the mail and contacts downloaded from Icloud onto my Iphone? I am told that the password needs to be reset and I have erased and reset it 3x's already? Should I Restore All Settings or Restore Network Settings or will that result in a situation where I have to have it re-unlocked again? GRACIAS!

Trying to retrieve old mail from back-up after reformating hard drive

I actually posted this question yesterday, but I think I put it on the wrong forum, so I'll try again.
My hard disk became corrupted and I had to reformat it and re-install my system software. I had everything backed up on an external hard disk, but I can't figure out how to get my mail, addresses, keycaps, etc, back onto the new installation. Can anyone help?
I didn't use any kind of utility to back things up; I simply copied my entire internal hard drive to an external hard drive.
I tried copying the library folder from my user folder that I backed up to the new instalation, but that didn't seem to do anything. I still didn't have any of my saved email or addresses.

A drag copy doesn't work like you'd expect, but well see...
