Grabbing Old Episodes of Podcasts

Is there a quick and easy way to download all OLD episodes of a podcast? I often discover a podcast that has been around for a while and perhaps has 50 or more old episodes. I can not seem to find a way to select all the old episodes and que them for downloading. I have to subscribe to the podcast, which then lists all the old episodes with a "GET" button next to each. But I have to step through all 50 episdoes and press the GET button on EACH of them to add them to the que. Surely there must be an easier way to just tell iTunes "hey catch me up", i.e get all episodes.
The settings in iTunes only refer to NEW episodes. So from that point forward I can have iTunes automatically download all NEW episodes, but no way to easily grab all old ones. So the seetings options for example say "When NEW episodes are available:" And you can select "Download ALL", but again, that only refers to NEW episodes.
Looks like Apple forgot to add a "GET" command. that way I can just select all the epidoses I want, and choose GET from a menu and add them all to the que, but no such thing...
Am I missing something?

Well, word from Apple is:
Dear Shahin,
I understand your concern that you are not able to select old podcast episodes all at once. Unfortunately there is not a way to select all of the old episodes at once, you will have to use the "Get" button for each episode.
I think that would be a great feature to add to the iTunes software. I encourage you to use the iTunes Feedback page to submit your feedback:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
Your efforts to share your feedback are very much appreciated.
Thank you for being an iTunes Store customer and have a great day.
Sincerely,

  • Why do months and even years old episodes of podcasts get downloaded when a feed is refreshed?

I'm wondering why tonight it seems that several dozen episodes from months and years of a show's whose feed was refreshed and updated this morning, are being automatically downloaded?  And there is no rhyme or reason as there are gaps in the feed in between the last show, and the shows being downloaded.
Why is this happening, as it is pretty much rendering the program useless as it uses up too much CPU space and it is listed as "Not Responding" in the task manager.

Ya I have noticed old podcasts showing up in my listing from time to time. Simple way to sort of stop it is go into your preferences for Podcasts. Change to only download the latest of the new Podcasts rather than all. Then next time your iTunes finds a whole bunch of "new" podcasts, they will all show up in your list as greyed out (not yet downloaded) listings and only the most recent one will download, which is probably the one you want anyway.
The previous ones can either be ignored or you can select the greyed out link and delete them, although they might reappear.

  • HT3842 iTunes 11.1.0.126 - Every subscribed podcast in my list view is now populated by every old episode ever published by that podcast. Next to it is a cloud download symbol. These cannot be deleted which completely clutters my lists and makes them extr

Just downloaded the latest version of iTunes - iTunes 11.1.0.126. Even though I was already subscribed to all of my podcasts, there was a new Subscribe button next to each one. So, I clicked them. Now, every podcast in my list view is populated by every old episode ever published by that podcast. Worse, they cannot be deleted using my Delete key. Next to each old podcast is a cloud download symbol. My list view is now completely cluttered, making them extraordinarily long to scroll down through. Anyone know how to get rid of this major annoyance?

You have to pay to subscribe to iMatch to be able to delete.

  • Old Episode Not In The List Of Podcast Channel

    Podcast channel = PoweredbyyouPodcasting = https://itunes.apple.com/my/podcast/poweredbyyoupodcasting/id892160271?mt=2&uo=4
    Podcast Feed = http://www.podcastgarden.com/podcast/podcast-rss.php?id=4037
    Question :
    1. Why the old episode not visible in the list ?
    2. Is there a limit in iTunes podcast list for episodes that will be showing up in the podcast channel ?
-- There is no problem with the feed and my podcast host ,because still can see all the episode in the list ..
-- For now,my podcast episode is more than 300 and will be add more soon ..
..Need support about this ..Sorry for my bad english ..  :-)

301 episodes show in the Store; the feed has a further 21 older episodes. You have reached the limit allowed in the iTunes Store - 301 - and when you add any newer episodes older ones will no longer be shown in the Store (though they will show and be available to subscribers). There is no way round this.

  • Itunes 11.2 Podcasts continually downloading old episodes

Since updating to 11.2 my podcasts have been giving me a couple issues:
    (1) Everytime I start iTunes and try to refresh my podcasts it automatically starts to download all the old episodes of certain shows.
         - I've tried to delete them manually but it just downloads them again.
         - I've marked them as "played" and left them to be deleted automatically after 24 hours as they are supposed to be but they just download again instead.
NOTE: It's only doing it for a few podcasts from one provider (AfterBuzzTV) but it is not doing it for every show i subscribe to from them.
    (2) The ones it is not automatically downloading every old episode of have had the titles changed to "Unknown Album".
         - I tried restarting iTunes and my computer since this seems to have worked for other people with the "Unknown Album" problem in the past but it does not work for me.
Basically it tries to download around a 100 episodes or so everytime I open iTunes, some of which are over two years old.

    Agree.  Same issue...  ;-(
The other significant probelm is that my podcasts stop playing after about 90 seconds and then the Podcasts application suddenly quits.  This is for the birds.
I've tried playing with the Sleep Timer (turning it on and off, asking it to sleep after the current episode, etc.).  Rebooting the iPhone, ...
    Nothing works.

  • How do I get old episodes to show up again?

I subscribe to several podcasts which, in iTunes, are only showing up with the most recent few episodes. I know there are lots of old episodes of these podcasts still available online.
(For some of these, iTunes was showing me dozens of old episodes available until I got tired of them cluttering up the list and I deleted them from the Podcasts window, but now I want to go back and get some of these old episodes.)
How do I get iTunes to show me all of the old episodes again, so that I can choose to get them?
    G5/1.8 Single

cmdopt] adds the "Get" option for all currently available episodes of subscribed Podcasts, which is good to know… but what I'd like to know is how to get old episodes that are no longer available via iTMS added back into the Podcast Library.
I have ten TEDTalks video Podcasts on disc that refuse to be organized as Podcasts. When I "Add to Library" they are added as Movies, not Podcasts even though the ID tags are exactly the same as all the other TEDTalks video Podcasts. This results in having like-genre files filed in different locations.

  • Where is the add old episodes?

Has the Add old Episodes been removed from the new Podcasts app? I used to be able to select a handful and add them then stream them, but now that seems to be gone...am I missing something? If there's a way to add them please let me know!

Really, really frustrating. First world problems, I guess.
Can't understand why Apple in their infinite wisdom would remove 'add old episodes'. It's nowhere in site.
I used to be able to go back months sometimes years (Paranormal Podcast, Darkness Radio, Psychedelic Salon all had podcasts going back as far as 2008) now they're ALL gone.
They've been jackin' this podcast app around as long as I can remember.
Please get it right Apple. Anybody know a good alternative?

  • Certain episodes of podcasts won't sync while others sync perfectly fine

Recently I have run into a problem where certain episodes of podcasts dont sync while others sync perfectly fine. How can I fix this? The last time one of my video podcasts updated was October 31s, there are about 5 episodes a day. It is the same with several of my podcasts. I have it set to sync all. They are mostly video podcasts, all of my videos are set to sync and I only listen to podcasts from the iTunes store. The episode do not exist anywhere on my iPod, I have looked. The only error message I get is the standard Windows 7 Format Error. I have asked this question before, but someone clicked correct answer so no one who could help is looking at it since they think it is solved.

How do your have your iPod configured to sync podcasts from under your iPod's Podcast configuration tab in iTunes?  If you are unsure of how to locate this tab, click on your iPod from under the list of device in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This should bring you to the Summary tab.  Now locate the Podcast tab along the top.

  • Not showing past episodes of podcasts. i.e. Comedu Bang Bang shows 301 episodes but I can only see ten. WHY?

Not showing past episodes of podcasts. i.e. Comedu Bang Bang shows 301 episodes but I can only see ten. WHY?

When I search the store for 'Comedy Bang Bang', on the results screen I get :
To the far right of the Podcast Episodes heading is a 'see all' button/link. Or clicking on the podcast name above it takes me to that podcast's episodes.
On the list for that particular podcast I see whitespace if I scroll down the screen too quickly, but scrolling back gets them to (slowly) appear.

  • Sync arbitrary number of episodes of podcasts (not 1, 3, 5, 10 or all)

Hi - I'd like to synchronize a user-defined number of episodes of podcasts with my iPod and not be restricted to 1, 3, 5 10 or all (whatever is the sync logic). This is strange that this is not just a parameter for users to decide. Did I miss something ?
    Thanks

Thanks but that does not solve my problem. I have 20 different podcasts feeds and each of them produces one episode a day (or every couple of days) and I want to have all the time the latest 30 (e.g.) episodes of all podcasts by just plugging my iPod and letting it getting sync'd. What you suggest would require manual selection every day and this is what I'm trying to avoid

  • Does iTunes TV have old episodes of late night with Conan O'brien episode 321?

Does iTunes TV have old episodes of Late Night with Conan O'Brien from January 1995? I am looking for Episode #321 1/30/1995. Thx

Thanks for your help, but no, that does not work. This is why I think it's a bug, or a feature left out. The "episode id" i wrote about, is when you get info, etc... you are suggesting. thanks.
    anyone else?
Try assigning a "Track Number" value in the Info tab for each episode, in the same fashion as you would a track number for a music file.
(Note: just to clarify, this is NOT the same tab that you would populate information into the "Episode Number" and "Season" fields - this is the tab where you populate Artist, Album Artist, Year, etc.)
The "Of #" field doesn't necessarily need to be populated, but if you happen to have the total number of episodes for that particular season, it couldn't hurt.
See if this works and post back.

  • Old episodes being downloaded to Apple TV

    Hi all,
Anyone have an idea on how to stop the old episodes from being downloaded back onto the Apple TV? It's taking up space and totally annoying. My Apple TV is the oldest version. Help?

Change from Automatic to Manual syncing and just sync exactly what you want....
Do this in itunes via the AppleTV icon.

    Hello yung ron,
It may be that your iPhone's set to sync automatically, which can potentially remove any music that's been added to the device. It may help to set the device to 'manual mode,' so that you have complete and total control over what content is on the device.
