GraceNote CDDB - "CDDB Servers cant be Fou

Hi,
Help required would be the understatement...
Trying to rip CD's through Media Source and cant seem to register with the CDDB. Keep getting the error message "CDDB Servers cant be Found"
Have tried Solution ID # 2495 i.e deregistering a couple of .dlls and reregistering but that didnt work</LI>
Downloaded a patch from Gracenote itself which I picked up from some of the other threads and it still doesnt work...</LI>
Not quite sure what is cutting here as it works fine through Winamp...
Any ideas as to what might be the problem and how to get it working through Media Source wold be most appreciated!
Cheers
Steve

Think I may have found half the answer... needed to download the latest version of MediaSource (v.2.03.29) That seems to have cured the "CDDB Server cant be Found" error.
However, now it constantly asks for me to register each time I click Submit or Get Info, but still does not update the Track info... Getting closer to where I need to be ... but not exactly what you would call plug and play ...
Any ideas on this bug would be welcome...
Cheers
Steve

  • Gracenote CDDB Won't Recognize Backed-up Files

I backed-up my Purchased Music to DVDs, then removed them from my hard drive. When I tried to import them from the DVDs back to the hard drive, Gracenote CDDB wouldn't recognize them. Any ideas so I don't have to manually enter this info?

Matthew is correct where regular Audio discs that you buy in stores are concerned.
The reason CDDB won't find any information on your disc is because you burned a Data disc and not an Audio disc. CDDB does not recoginze Data discs. But since you already had all your ID3 tags customized in the files when you burned them to Data DVD all you have to do is use the Add To Library command in the File menu and iTunes will read the ID3 tag information.
Also, when working with music that is already in a "lossy" format you cannot use the Import command, only the Add To Library command. This also goes for AIFF or WAV files that you have on your Hard Drive that you want to put into iTunes.

  • Server setting to gracenote cddb for Adobe Audition 3.0?

I was wondering if anybody knew the server setting to gracenote cddb in Audition 3.0 for ripping CD Audio? I know the one for free cddb, but I think gracenote has a better success rate based on other web based software.
I asked this question in another post titled, "Saving MP3 file wipes out Genre value" but since it is a little bit older I thought not that many people would see it too good. Thanks for any response ahead of time.

I usually use freeDB as well. You can set the HTTP Titles Database setting to freedb.freedb.org
If you aren't receiving track titles, something is definitely amiss. Perhaps the parsing variables in the configure dialog have been changed or deleted.
The default value for "Parse Song Title" should be %s
The default value for "Filename Template" should also be %s
If these are correct and you still do not see song titles, please let me know and we'll continue troubleshooting. It would be a pretty useless feature if the titles didn't show up!

  • AEBS port conflict? Intermittent problem connecting to Gracenote CDDB

    Hi all,
I posted a similar question in the iTunes forum, but the more I troubleshoot, the more I think this is an AEBS issue.
Whilst importing CDs into iTunes, I've had difficulty getting the track listing. I've switched WiFi connections (borrowing my neighbour's) and this resolves the problem. Unfortunately, this means I'm not operating on my local network, which is not acceptable.
Still on my AEBS, I make repeated attempts, until finally I'm able to connect to CDDB and get the tracklisting.
What's causing this? I wonder if there's a port conflict that I need to address. Any ideas?
    Steve

    Hiya,
Resetting the AEBS gave me a temporary reprieve, but it's failing to connect to Gracenote CDDB again.
I tried unplugging a VoIP gateway which is connected to the same router, but no difference. Also unplugged an AirPort Express which I use for AirTunes.
Anyone else had similar difficulty with CDDB??

  • Internet connection cuts off after accessing GraceNote CDDB

This is for everyone how has the same problem!
After several times being in situation my internet connection (broadband cable) has been cut off after accessing GraceNote CDDB, and after several times I had to either restart or shut down my Power Book in order to access GraceNote CDDB again for each CD I wanted to put in my iTunes Music Folder, and after I checked all feedbacks and discussions regarding this matter - I did find The Solution - finaly!
You just have to uncheck Automatic access to GraceNote CDDB in iTunes Preferences (Importing) and to do it from drop-down menu manualy - and everything will work in perfect order!
    Prof. DEJA VUE

I just turned the IPV6 off, I previously tried restarting safari and the computer itself (im not sure which you were referring to) but hopefully turning the IPV6 to off resolved the problem.  Thanks so muchfor your help, I think you got it =).  If you dont mind me asking what exactly did that do that fixed it though?

  • Gracenote CDDB service not submitting correct names for songs when importing from CDs

Gracenote CDDB service not submitting correct names for songs from purchased CDs

You are looking at the 1st Gen Nano manual.
You need to look at the 2nd Gen Nano manual here -> iPod Nano Features Guide
Not much difference but that page 16 shows iTunes 6. You have iTunes 7.
You have to first select the CD.
The Import button is now at the bottom right.
Insert the CD and select it in iTunes and the Browse icon (eye) at the bottom right will change to Import.
Go to iTunes prefs -> Advanced and tick "Automatically get CD track names from Internet".

  • ITunes not accessing Gracenote CDDB?

I'm in the middle of ripping my Beatles CDs and iTunes will not access CDDB. I get an error which simply says (Server Error).
Is this an iTunes or a Gracenote/CDDB problem?

[copied from my reply in your similar thread]
We've gotten the same error at the same time. I guess we need to let this play out. In the meantime, I'm gonna update iTunes.

  • Problems Accessing Gracenote CDDB: "HTTP Processing Error" Help Please

I'm hoping for a bit of help here people, having a few problems I would be grateful for your assistance with!
I've been having trouble accessing Gracenote for a couple of months now. What was happening was that when I tried to search for the CD info on Mediasource, the gracenote icon would appear in the top left corner, and the screen loading as if obtaining the info, but then nothing happens and the info is left blank.
I have tried everything I know, and everything that has been suggested here! I have altered the ZoneAlarm settings, deleted the cddb file, checked that the settings in Mediasource are correct, downloaded the latest drivers, re-registered for gracenote manually and various other things. None of these have solved the problem.
Finally, I decided to completely re-install Creative Mediasource. After doing this, I tried to access gracenote again, and was asked to re-register. I did this, but then recieved an error message stating "Internal Socket Error". THis happened a couple of times, before the message was replaced with "HTTP Processing Error", whenever I try to access gracenote. It still will not recognise the music!
Basically, I am at the end of my knowledge and the end of my patience!!! I really don't know what more to do and so I'm throwing this open to you guys - any help would be so, so appreciated! The only this I can think is that my dad got an ipod two months ago, and has installed itunes on the PC. From what I understand, that uses gracenote too - are the two programmes clashing? If so, can anyone suggest a way I can alter this?
You're my last hope before I'm condemmed to a lifetime of filling in CD's by hand!!! I'll be really grateful if any of you guys can help me out!
    Thanks!
    David

  • Gracenotes - CDDB

Hi Can anyone help this problem is driving me insane.
I have itunes 4.7 and suddenly I cannot get album information from CDDB, I did last week but can't anymore. I have checked all my firewall protection I have even switched it off and tried. All the albums I have imported are well known and legal! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, please can anyone help?!!!
The messages that come up are (when manually updating):"CDDB information is not available for this item". or when a CD is put in "An error occured while accessing the CDDB server. Check your internet network and configuration"

I think my problem is related. itunes wasn't picking up the song titles just tracks (1,2,3...) I reinstalled itunes then things worked. Now acouple of days later I can't get info off of the CD. Same issue as you, legal/commercial etc. I also tried disabling internet security because I thought the call for info was being blocked. This didn't help. Maybe the problem is with gracenote whatever that is. Mayybe they get too many calls for data and can't handle the demand so itunes defaults to minimum display. I have no idea but this is very annoying.

  • Can't Connect to Gracenote CDDB. Please, Please, He

Hi, I have tried everythign to get creative mediasource to connect to cddb so i can rip directly from cd's into the zen micro. When I try and get info about a cd though I get the following error message. I have added commentary in parenthesis...
Failed to connect to the music information provider
This problem may be due to one of the following
    reasons:
    - your computer is not connected to the internet (but
    it definitely is)
    - the music information providers server is down
(happens way to frequently - as in always - for this
    to be the case)
    - the audio cd is a copy control cd (these are common
cd's so i doubt this is the case. i've tried a bunch
    of them).
Hopefully someone can help! this is driving me crazy. I'm using Windows XP.
I have deleted all other media players on my system and reinstalled only Creative MediaSource and it STILL won't connect to CDDB. I have tried reregistering cddb using the instructions provided on this website "CTregsvr..whatever, yada, yada" it told me i did it correctly but STILL no luck. Please, I'm beggin' somebody for help on this. My email address is [email protected] If there is another type of software that will actually rip directly from cd to the player AND will access cddb LIKE IT's SUPPOSED TO, I'd be open to getting that software and ditching creative mediasource. I'm grasping for anything at this point. What a cool little product. Such a shame that this is holding up my enjoyment. Thanks,

Pete: I had the same problem using an older version of RealJukebox where the program wouldn't recognize CDDB to get CD info anymore, but I found this patch, and it works now.

  • Gracenote CDDB

How do I turn off the automatic download of titles from Gracenote?

I thnk the point is, is that if you are on a computer not connected to the internet, or you use a dial-up connection that isn't dialed in, there is a long pause while iTunes (fruitlessly) tries to connect to the Gracenote database. We want to avoid this pause.
In earlier verions of iTunes, there was a preference you could check that would automate the lookup process, but that preference seems to be gone now.
It makes no sense to remove that preference, as not everybody is connected to the internet at all times. Or perhaps not everybody wants every CD inserted scanned for track names, and information 'Pinged' to some corporation.

  • ITunes alphabetical track listing using Gracenote CDDB

I have just imported a purchased C.D. to iTunes and it used Gracenote to get the track listings. However, the listing has been put in alphabetical order and not in the C.D. order. I have been into Preferences and checked my settings and all appears to be correct, but the second time I tried to import, the result was the same.
These are the first C.D.s I have done with iTunes 6-I upgraded today-and I want to know if there is a way to return imported C.D.s to the album listing. These two imports are all over my library and my SmartPlaylists and as I constantly burn C.D.s for the car etc, I would like them all together.

Was the CD in the drive at the time you tried to Submit?

  • Well annoying gracenote/cddb problem

Hey i have already searched the forums for this but everything suggested hasn't really worked.
I am pretty sure it's do do with the firewall, but it won't let me access gracenote to get song names, says there is an error and i should check my connection settings.
I turned firewall off but still won't do it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using the latest version of itunes, and am using norton antivirus/internet security.
    Craig x

Also, if you are on a wireless router, try connecting the ethernet cable directly into your computer. Sometimes there can be a firewall built into the router which can cause some problems.

  • Gracenote CDDB Problem/Ashley Parker Angel

    Hello all.
My sister purchased the new Ashley Parker Angel CD (actual CD, not from iTunes) and she's having a problem. When she puts the CD in the drive to load into iTunes, iTunes says the song names are not in the database. However, the CD is on the front page of iTunes. Obviously, the database knows the names of the songs. There was one issue that might be the problem: the iTunes CD had 12 songs while the actual one has 14. Still, it should work. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

It happens once in a while... Typically easier to enter the titles by hand than to spend a lot of time trying to get online services to work.
    Good luck,
    Maz
