Gradient Editor consistant across applications

I tried looking for this on the forums but not sure if it has been answered.
In Illustrator CC 2014 one has the ability to reverse the gradient in the gradient palette editor. It appears pretty consistent throughout the application when you try to edit a gradient that this option is available.
It also appears consistent in InDesign CC 2014.
In Photoshop CC 2014 one is able to do this in the options tool bar at the top but in a shape layer but nowhere else.
I can not find any instance in After Effects where there is a reverse button for a gradient or a keyboard command.
Can this be made consistent throughout the suite of applications?

Gradient Ramp can reverse or swap colors. The gradient editor in shape layer fill has no such option but it would be a nice feature request.

  • BUG? Fireworks to DW CSS gradients not consistent across browsers...?

    Greetings -
I don't know if this is a bug or what, but after watching one of the Adobe TV roadshow videos I generated CSS gradients in Fireworks, selected ALL the browser compatible translations Fireworks provides and then copied/pasted the CSS into my web page in Dreamweaver. Looks good in DW - all seems well...until I view it with Firefox...
I'm not a Rocket Scientist, but also not a newbie.
Basically, IE, etc. all work fine EXCEPT Firefox! Firefox maintains the color, but distorts the gradient percentage and reverses the angle of gradient. E.g. if my gradient is going from dark on top to white on the bottom of a box, it all displays fine in the other browsers, but in Firefox the gradient goes left to right, dark to light...
And yes, I promise I made sure I have the Firefox CSS in addition to the IE, etc. before bothering you all.
OH! AND I am using the Fluid Grid set up in Dreamweaver...just FYI.
    Am I missing something?
Do I have to manually update? (i.e., tie a rope around my waist and head on in to the looking glass - code land that is CSS gradients?
Is there something in DW that needs to be altered after the CSS from FW is added?
Many thanks for all your help and advice!

Yes, it's a bug in the code that Fireworks generates, not in the way that Firefox handles CSS gradients.
The reason for the problem is that browsers started implementing CSS gradients on an experimental basis long before the W3C standardization process got under way. For some reason, all browsers decided to calculate angles using the polar coordinate system, in which 0 degrees points right and the angles increase counterclockwise. This way of measuring angles appears to be common in geometry, but it's not the way that most people think of them.
The most common way of measuring angles is to use the compass system: 0 degrees points straight up, and angles increase in a clockwise direction. That's the way the W3C decided angles should be measured in CSS. Because 0 degrees in the polar coordinate system is 90 degrees in the standard CSS syntax, and angles increase in the opposite direction, the only angle that's the same in both systems is 45 degrees.
Unfortunately, whoever coded the Fireworks panel didn't realize that the standard syntax uses different angles, and nobody picked it up in beta testing. The problem has been reported to Adobe, and I'm told it will be fixed, but I don't know when.
Until it's fixed, you need to convert the angle in the unprefixed version of linear-gradient().
Subtract the angle generated by Fireworks from 360.
    Add 90
For example, if the angle generated by Fireworks is 315deg, 360-315 = 45. 45 + 90 = 135. So change the angle in the unprefixed version to 135deg.
IE 10 also uses the standard syntax, so the conversion is necessary not only for Firefox, but it will be needed by all browsers.
This is a rare case of the value for browser-specific prefixes being completely different from the standard syntax.

  • SSO - session time out while navigating across applications

    Hi,
    Problem statement
Handling session time out while navigating across applications involving SSO
    Current approach
    Application 1
    1. Create session1.
    2. URL rewrite the sesssion ID1 into the link refering to App2.
    Application 2
    1. Create session2
    2. Get the session Id of App1.
    3. send the session ID of App1 in the header
    4. Invalidate the session2
    Application 1
Get the ID from request and invoke getSession.
I'm having a very large session timeout at App1.
Is there a better approach. Ex: Having global session which is shared across multiple
    webapplications.

  • Problems with counter in renaming interface not maintaining consistency across multiple libraries

    Happy New Year, all.
We have a problem in Aperture that I was curious if others had, and I'm hoping somebody has figured out a workaround they will share with me. Originally, we used Aperture and it had one huge library for our different types of photography. We had to change away from that setup because if there was a problem it would take ages to troubleshoot a ~500GB library and perform actions like rebuilding the library. We didn't want to do this, but splitting into six libraries has improved the speed in general and has made rebuilding smaller individual libraries quicker.
We shoot a lot of photos and want each photo to have a unique number (along with a custom name). We set up a rename option in Aperture that has "Custom Name_Counter" and set counter to be six digits. The problem this seemed to create is that the counter in the rename function doesn't produce a unique number consistently across libraries. If I'm in library A, and I rename a batch of files, the counter will go up and remember its last number as long as I stay in Library A. The minute I switch to Library B, the number is at where it was the last time I used Library B. This indicates to me that the preferences travel with the library.
Does anybody know a way that I can have a global preferences file, rather than a library preferences file? It seems it maybe used to be this way, but one of the version 3 upgrades forced me to delete a preferences file for the Facebook bug a couple of version 3 subversions ago.
On a different note, another problem with renaming is that it is so slow. Renaming master files for even 100 or so files takes minutes. Does anybody else have this happen? Sometimes it's faster, but I haven't been able to figure out a pattern to this.
I've submitted feature requests for revamping the renaming interface for Aperture for at least a couple of years. It never seems to improve. iView Media Pro, a program I used six years ago, had a great renaming setup and I wish Aperture
Maybe it's time to reinstall Aperture. I bought it on disc, so it's not through the App store. Does anybody have experience reinstalling? I would, of course, like to keep keywords and other preferences.

I am unaware of a 2.16 GHz Mac Pro tower. Are you referring to a Macbook Pro or to an iMac? Or is it a configuration I am just unaware of?
My concern is that it seems that you may be making major workflow compromises that might be better dealt with by hardware changes as feasible. E.g. most 2.16 GHz Mac CPUs are about 1/6 as strong as a top Mac Pro today or about 1/4 as strong as today's Macbook Pros, and that has huge implications on Aperture performance.
Also, graphics processors of the 2.16 GHz era were ridiculously weak compared to modern Macs. Aperture has historically performed best with strong GPUs (e.g. the strongest G5 towers would not run Aperture without a GPU upgrade). If you stay with the existing box a GPU upgrade may (if feasible) be in order.
You did not mention RAM, which has defining impact on Aperture performance.
Even if no hardware upgrades are made, it is useful to know what hardware performance bottlenecks may exist. So some questions:
    • Which Mac(s), exactly?
    • Which OS version and which Aperture version?
    • How much RAM is on board?
    • If a Mac Pro, which GPU card is in use?
    • What mass storage (hard drives and SSDs), how connected and how full?
    Thanks.

  • Sharing view objects across application modules

Our application uses multiple application modules because of the complex functional requirements. We have come across sharing view objects among application modules. I want to understand the best practice, sharing view object instances across application modules. These view objects can be based on Entity Objects also.
Please let me know if there any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Satya

    Hi Satya,
You won't be able to share view objects between application modules, but what you can do is to share the bind variables between application modules, if each of your module contains the 'common' view object.
A solution for sharing data between application modules is provided on this blog: http://andrejusb.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/solution-for-sharing-global-user-data.html
You can use this approach to share bind variables between AM's and re-query the same data.
    Hope this helps,

  • Html Editor in ADF Applications

    Hi people,
We have used RichText editor for our application. But our customer isn't satisfied with the editor. They have been asking us to import Office into our web application :) So we are searching for a better editor. We have found some, but they want to run under a index.jspx page. But we want our editor to run under a task flow (under the tag <af:region> )
Is there anyone who have used a better editor in their ADF application, can someone help us with our problem?
    Thanks.

Yannick, you will always be my hero and saviour, but not this time :)
I really need to take the documents from the web page, what we are aiming for is to cut the dependency of the users from Word applications, just enter some info from the page, store those info in UCM metadata, see the document right in the page, make some changes, and then submit the doc., then start a BPEL process, the approver can see the document in the Task Form, approve it, and the story goes on like that. If we are dependent on some Office application, the usabilility of our product would be poor.
What I need is some complicated HTML editor in my application.

  • Where is the gradient editor in Flash CS4?

    Hi,
I'm on an intel iMac, and trying to make the switch from Flash CS3 to CS4. I have done several searches for this topic and to no help thus far.
I'm familiar with the gradient editor in CS3 but I can't seem to find it in CS4. I have found the Color Editor which has a few basic, preset radial gradients along the bottom but that's all.
I've searched the tool pallete as well. I appreciate any help and apologize if this is a dumb question. It's early and I'm tired.
    Many Thanks, Frank B.

    Window> Color
Change the type to a gradient and then you can edit.  It's pretty much the same as CS3, so perhaps I'm missing something in the question..

  • Deployment order across applications

I have a web app that implements ServletContextListener. This app on deployment
looks for an ejb on another app. How do I tell weblogic to deploy the web app
before the ejb app. These two have to be different applications. I cannot combine
them into the same ear. I am not able to find ways to identify deployment order
    across applications. Any thoughts.
Any ideas on other approaches if this is not possible will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

We don't want the dependency between the EAR application and this web app. We also
plan to deploy this web app on multiple boxes that will require only a servlet
container and will not require an app server. Also the EAR app will be deployed
on multiple boxes and we do not want the extra overhead of this web app. Hope
    this answers your question.
Do you know of any alternative approach to this problem since I do not see having
deployment ordering across apps in weblogic.
    Thanks.

Deploying them separately will result in a very serious performance

  • Sharing of Objects across applications

    Hi,
Is it possible to reference an object initialized by another application?
For example, I have a Logger object that I instantiated from App1. Then I decided to come up with App2. I want to use in App2, the same logger innstance I am using in App1. Of course, assuming that App1 is running. If not, App2 shall create the Logger object and when App1 is run, App1 now shall reference the Logger object App2 created.
I guess what I am pointing out here is how sharing of objects across application can happen in Java.

There is no direct support for this in JVM - you cannot reference object created by JVM#1 from JVM#2 playing fair game =)
If you need 100% pure JAVA solution the only way to do it is to use
networking, either RMI (as it was already suggested) or coding your own TCP protocol. Main drawback - it'll be slow.
For faster access you'll need to use JNI and some sort of interprocess communication method - shared memory/messages/etc. This might be faster (there will be no TCP/IP marshaling) but it'll be more combersome to support it for different OS.

  • Sharing Functions Across Applications(containers)

Can anyone help with a final word on sharing functions between
    applications?
I have read many conflicting accounts on the ability in 6i to share
objects across application systems through the use of common functions,
global process steps, referencing, or shortcuts. Best case scenario, I
would like to share functions across containers, include these functions
in multiple process models, and be able to create process flows between
functions. Is this possible? Is the bug 1787721 which doesn't allow
common functions across applications a true bug, or is this the new
    functionality in 6i?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Cynthia,
If I understood, you want to know what the steps you need to
follow to share a object, but before it, you need to know a
basic new characteristc at the Designer6i.
The basic characteristc that you must know is that you don't
share objects to application from other one anymore, you create
a reference to other objects in another Application from other
one that already exists. Althoug you must pay attention that you
can create references to objects between applications when they
    are in the same Workarea.
    It's too simple.
Put the cursor on the Application that want to create reference
from a previous existing object. Choose the option "Create
Reference". Choose the object that you want to reference (Use
the filter if you want) and than it will be work.
I hope that I had to help you.

  • Getting iCloud Safari Bookmarks to sync successfully and consistently across all Windows OS on Parallels ?

    Hi there....
Does anyone know how to successfully sync your Safari Bookmarks for Mac on iCloud across all browsers and operating systems setup in Parallels software.
Currently when I open any of the Windows OS on Parallels they mess up my Mac bookmarks with duplicates and extra bookmarks and I have to go through the whole Timemachine restore bookmarks process to get them working again as I had them.
It would be great of anyone out there just had a fail safe step by step guide to getting my bookmarks to sync consistently across all devices, browsers and operating systems from OSX Mavericks to Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1
I have asked an Apple Expert previously about this but he couldn't figure out how to get this to work either.
Any comments or suggestions most welcome.

  • Are the JSF generated ID's consistent across sessions?

    Hi Everyone
I have a question regarding the ID's of components (button, listbox, etc.) created by JSF.
For example the ID's appearing on input boxes are like:
    content:myform:mytable:0:otxt
    content:myform:mytable:1:otxt
    content:myform:mytable:2:otxt
    etc.
where myform is the form id, mytable is the id of the datatable and otxt is the id of the input box.
I have written some javascript to work with these JSF created ID's.
Are they consistent across sessions? I mean when multiple users are simultaneously logged in,
will they appear in the same sequence starting with 0 for each user. I already noticed that separate sessions by the
same user gives the ID's consistently.
I very much would like to get your feedback on this important matter.
    Thank you so much
    Murthy

Yes, the generated ids will not vary based on different sessions rendering the same page.
However, if the component tree is modified, the ids may vary if you are using generated ids. Based on your example however, it does not appear you are using generated ids, but specifying the id of each component. So you should be safe.
(The number part of the id in your example appears to just be the index portion of the id for a dataTable and is completely determinate.)

  • Gradient editor problem -- tighter transitions

Using CS6 Mac here. Was trying to duplicate some gradients made in Photoshop, but in vector form.
It seems I can't make the midpoint transition as extreme as I can in Photoshop. For example, the midpoint diamond for this gradient in Photoshop is 95% and 5%.
But if I enter 95% and 5% in Illustrator, it sets the min & max to 87% and 13%.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is this a limitation/bug of Illustrator's gradient editor? Any other way I get Photoshop gradients into Illustrator?

You might define another gradient stop closer to the other one.
You can't import Photoshop gradients into Illustrator.
